Wayne Rooney’s Sky Sports

In fairness to Frank Lampard, he called it ages ago. A little over seven years, in fact, and during an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live in November 2010. Asked A.Q. Shipley Jersey about Wayne Rooney, then still a Manchester United forward, Lampard, then still a Chelsea midfielder, said: “People who call him thick – it’s a lazy thing to say. They look at him, the fact he is a footballer and looks tough, and make a judgment without trying to find out what he is really like. How can you call someone thick who you have never met?”

It was a valid question and one Rooney well and truly answered with his appearance on Monday Night Football this week. Eyebrows were raised when http://www.panthershopnflonline.com/SUPER-BOWL-FOZZY-WHITTAKER-JERSEY it was announced he would be alongside Jamie Carragher and David Jones for Sky Sports’ coverage of Watford against Chelsea, partly because Rooney is still an active footballer and partly because, as Lampard outlined, he is viewed as someone who can barely string a sentence together, let alone speak fluently and analytically on live television for the best part of four hours. Well, like with that volley against Newcastle United in April 2005, Rooney smashed it.
The 32-year-old was articulate, intelligent, insightful and honest, and after an understandably nervous start got into such a stride that you half expected him to pull up a bar stool, sip from a glass of whiskey and tell a joke about retirement and clocks.
Wayne Rooney: captain, leader, legend … raconteur. Who would have thought it? Most probably those who know the Everton forward, but for most people who tuned in on Monday night – myself included – it came as a surprise. Because there is no denying that a broad, widely-accepted perception of Rooney’s character has developed during his career. Partly this has been because of the decisions he has made in his private life and partly because, as Lampard expressed, he fits a stereotype of your average footballer.
Often it is those who know the least about footballers that push this view of footballers – commentators espousing their views from the comfort of their kitchen nook, people as likely to fart on the moon as they are to chant at their local ground. But mud sticks and, Gabriel Landeskog Authentic Jersey if we’re being honest, it’s not just the detached who are guilty of flinging it. Football fans can be just as bad and for a generation, certainly on these shores, Rooney has become a prime target.
The great shame here is that rather than being held up as a figure of ridicule and example of how not to live your Jaroslav Halak Youth jersey life, Rooney should be seen as a perfect example of the inspirational story football is so great at telling – a working-class boy from Croxteth who through a combination of talent, hard work and ambition realised his dream of playing for his boyhood club (twice) as well as becoming not only the all-time record goalscorer for the biggest club in the country but the country itself.
It’s a remarkable set of achievements somewhat overlooked through a combination of snobbery and resentment that often attaches itself to working-class-boys-done-good. Yes Rooney is an excellent, successful athlete but, as we keep insisting – partly to make ourselves feel better about our own lives – he’s not the brightest bulb in the box.
Rooney is almost certainly aware of that perception, making his performance on Sky Sports all the more noteworthy. There was light and shade as he looked back on his breakthrough at Everton – “I knew when I got into the first team at 16 years old, I was the best player” – recollected the prank he played on Roy Keane shortly after joining Manchester United and confessed that he should not have travelled to the 2006 World Cup given the injury he had suffered beforehand. ‘Wazza’ was gripping, funny and – shock horror – well-spoken.
Rooney is not the only one who has confounded perceptions having stepped away from the pitch and into a TV studio. Carragher and, before him, Gary Neville have established themselves as highly respected, intelligent voices on football having joined Sky Sports post-retirement, while on BT Sport, Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard have surprised with their articulate, forthright opinions. Lampard is another to admire, as is Jermaine Jenas, and what is becoming clear at a time when more and more footballers are turning up http://www.jaguarsfootballofficialonline.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_MALIK_JACKSON_JERSEY.html on TV after hanging up their boots is that the stereotype around them is often just that – a stereotype. wholesale jerseys usa nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys for cheap cheap jerseys online cheap jerseys from china

Resetting the 2018 NFL offseason quarterback market

Kirk Cousins is a little more than a month away from showing us what can happen when a healthy, top-level starting quarterback in his prime hits the free-agent market. This will be unprecedented. In the era of the franchise tag, only two top-level quarterbacks have become unrestricted free agents -- Peyton Manning in 2012 and Drew Brees in 2006 -- and each was coming off a major injury at the time.

Cousins is 29 years old, healthy and coming off his third straight 4,000-yard passing season at a time of rapid salary-cap growth. As of March 12, when agents of prospective free agents are free to talk with other teams, Cousins will be in a position to set a new standard at the top of the NFL salary structure.

Now, because I know some of you will ask: No, I do not think there is any chance Washington franchises Cousins for the third year in a row. It's certainly true that it has considered the idea of franchising him and trying to trade him, in an effort to avoid losing him and getting nothing in Cameron Sutton Jersey return. And at this stage of the process, that's the right position for them to be taking outwardly, just in case some team wants to offer them something crazy. But I, and the sources I've spoken to on this matter, consider a third Cousins franchise tag (which would cost Washington about $34.5 million) a totally unrealistic outcome.
Why? Well, any team willing to trade anything of significance for Cousins would want to know that they can sign him long term, and for how much. Washington is likely to end up with a third-round compensatory pick if it lets Cousins walk, http://www.officialnflvikingsprostore.com/SHAMAR-STEPHEN-JERSEY-CHEAP.html which means a team probably would need to offer http://www.officialseahawksfootball.com/YOUTH+KAM+CHANCELLOR+JERSEY a second-rounder or more in order to get him, and why would a team do that if all it is guaranteed is one year at $34.5 million?
If Washington franchises Cousins, he'll surely rush to sign the tender and put the team in an impossible bind. That $34.5 million would immediately hit Washington's 2018 salary cap along with about $24 million in cap cost for Alex Smith, likely requiring undesirable roster cuts elsewhere and making it basically impossible for the team to do anything else in terms of player acquisition until they traded Cousins.
In theory, Cousins could make it easy on Washington by negotiating with potential trade partners on a long-term deal before a trade is finalized, but there's no reason to believe Cousins is or will be interested in doing his current team any favors. If Washington did decide to franchise Cousins, the more likely reason would be that it got cold feet on the Smith deal and decided to back out before it became official. As of Tuesday night, we can call this "Pulling a McDaniels." Not saying this will happen, but if Tuesday taught Alex Anzalone Jersey us nothing else, it's that nothing is final until it's final.
What Cousins wants -- and believes he deserves -- is a chance to hit the market unfettered, with a menu of potential new destinations from which to choose. It appears certain he will get that, and when he does, his deal could average $30 million or more per season with upward of $90 million in guarantees. The questions then will become how many teams will bid that high and how much he likes the idea of playing for those teams.
The Minnesota Vikings, who are coming off a 13-3 season and with all three quarterbacks on their roster eligible for free agency, should be at the top of Cousins' wish list. They have the cap space to make it happen. They have an elite defense, top-level wide receivers, a strong running game and an offensive line that -- while it might need some maintenance work in the coming years -- did an awfully good job of keeping Case Keenum clean in 2017. The question with the Vikings is how committed they are to developing Teddy Bridgewater as their long-term solution and Kyle Van Noy Jersey rewarding Keenum for what he did in 2017. If they bring one or both of those guys back, that probably rules out Cousins. But if they see themselves a Cousins away from the Super Bowl, maybe they change the plan and go for it.
The New York Jets also have the cap room and the need. Their roster needs more work than Minnesota's does, but the receiving corps showed promise this season, the coach just got extended, and Cousins has spoken highly of new offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates. Perhaps he'd enjoy a shot to make a big splash in Jarvis Landry Authentic Jersey the Big Apple. The Buffalo Bills are coming off a 9-7 season and have a No. 1 receiver in Kelvin Benjamin and an http://www.officialnikejetshop.com/keyshawn-johnson-jersey-for-sale-c-52.html elite running back in LeSean McCoy. If Cousins likes what Sean McDermott is putting together in Buffalo, the Bills become an interesting option that might not be too far from title contention. The Jacksonville Jaguars would be interesting if they found a way to move on from Blake Bortles, but his $19 http://www.authenticnikeseahawkshop.com/kj-wright-jersey-for-sale-c-25.html million contract option could end up being guaranteed if Bortles, who just had wrist surgery, can't pass a physical by early March.
The Cleveland Browns will have all kinds of money to spend, but that situation comes with a ton of uncertainty. How long will Hue Jackson be the coach? Would Cousins expect to click immediately with offensive coordinator Todd Haley? How close, really, is a team that is 1-31 over the past two years to contention?
There's long-range coaching staff uncertainty, too, with the Denver Broncos, who also have to move a bunch of money around to clear room for a Cousins pursuit. And while the Arizona Cardinals have a need and sound like a nicer place to live than some of these other options, the Cardinals feel like a start-from-scratch situation in the wake of Bruce Arians' and Carson Palmer's retirements (and possibly Larry Fitzgerald's, too).

Tom Ince makes Huddersfield’s Premier

David Wagner is looking for success in the FA Cup to offer a fillip in the Premier League even if José Mourinho’s Manchester United may hardly be quaking in their boots at the prospect of facing Huddersfield, having beaten them 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Three extra-time goals allowed Huddersfield their second win in 11 Wes Schweitzer Youth jersey games as their seemingly inexorable plummet down the elite table has been accompanied by the consolation, and the opportunity, of a place in the last 16 of the Cup. Their passage would have been secured much sooner had it not been for the agility and bravery of the Birmingham goalkeeper David Stockdale who made several excellent saves as Huddersfield came on strong as the clock ticked towards 90 minutes.

Huddersfield beat United at home in October but the harsh realities of the Premier League have since bitten hard. Wagner saw Tuesday night’s victory – any victory – as a platform “to build momentum for the Premier League”, with Bournemouth due at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday, and having at least one more fixture to play as no headache. “No, it’s something we have worked hard for,” he said. “To play Manchester United at home in the fifth round of the Cup is never a distraction. The whole city will get behind us.”
Huddersfield were criticised for their aggressive treatment of Alexis Sánchez at Old Trafford but Wagner said http://www.officialvancouvercanucks.com/Adidas-Markus-Naslund-Jersey they would not hold back in the reunion a week on Saturday. “If he’s on the grass then we will Scott Hartnell Jersey try and defend,” he said. “If it means he’s sometimes too quick then you have to foul him. It’s the last thing we want to do but it happens.”
Steve Cotterill, with his improving Birmingham team having gained 16 points from their last seven Championship games, made seven changes from the side that beat Sheffield Wednesday to move four points above the relegation zone and the prospect of Sunday’s trip to Villa Park will soon resharpen their focus.
“We didn’t need that, going into extra time,” Cotterill said. “But I couldn’t http://www.officialchicagoblackhawks.com/Adidas-Martin-Havlat-Jersey be prouder of them. I’m confident in our team because we’ve been playing well. It doesn’t matter who’s favourites [for the approaching derby].” After Marc Roberts’ own goal had cancelled out Che Adams’ opener, the decisive goals came in the first period of extra time as Huddersfield’s increasing dominance belatedly reaped dividends.
Firstly Steve Mounié, Huddersfield’s scorer in the initial tie, headed in at the far post from Scott Malone’s excellent left-wing centre. It was the Benin striker’s sixth goal since signing from Nimes for £11.5m last summer.
Then Rajiv van La Parra passed the ball into an empty net as it rebounded from Stockdale after Tom Ince had been bundled to the ground when running in on goal. It was http://www.falconsfootballofficialonline.com/Mohamed-Sanu-Jersey.html Ince who fired home in the first minute of the second half of added time leaving everyone with the feeling that so cold was it, the referee, Paul Tierney, should be allowed to blow the final whistle very early.
Huddersfield are so desperate to avoid returning to the Championship, and Birmingham so desperate to stay in it, their managers changed more than Authentic Michael Lorenzen Jersey half their players for challenges more important than the battle to land a home tie with United.
The number of changes in personnel contributed to a stop-stop opening first half. Birmingham broke through when Lukas Jutkiewicz headed down a long ball to his strike partner. Adams took a touch to http://www.chargersshopfootball.com/Authentic-Travis-Benjamin-Jersey control the Bashaud Breeland Jersey ball before turning and firing in his sixth goal of the season from the edge of the penalty area. nfl jerseys china jerseys china wholesale jerseys from china cheap nba jerseys cheap nfl jerseys baseball jerseys for sale cheap jerseys online baseball jerseys wholesale

How Belichick assistants have fared as NFL head coaches

Matt Patricia and Mike Vrabel could find themselves in strong position to win. Patricia will inherit a 9-7 Detroit Lions team featuring Matthew Stafford and two 1,000-yard receivers. Vrabel will take over a 9-7 Tennessee Titans team that won a playoff game this season and features Marcus Mariota at quarterback. ere's a quick look at how former Belichick assistants fared as head coaches, ordered by winning percentage. I've revisited the quarterback situations in each case and put each tenure into perspective.

The associations with Belichick are weak in some cases, especially as they pertain to whether the coaches succeeded ultimately. Lawrence Timmons Youth jersey Josh McDaniels and Eric Mangini are two examples who spent nearly all their professional careers aligned with Belichick before becoming head coaches. Many of the others had significant careers apart from Belichick, starting with Al Groh, the only coach on the list with a winning record as a head coach.
QB situation: O'Brien inherited and quickly traded Matt Schaub, who had set an NFL record the previous season by throwing pick-sixes in four straight games. He went 27-21 in his first three seasons with Brock Osweiler, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, Case Keenum, T.J. Yates, Tom Savage and Brandon Weeden as his starters. How did O'Brien do it? The Texans had the NFL's second-ranked defense over that span, according to ESPN's efficiency metric. That let O'Brien survive long enough to select Deshaun Watson in the 2017 draft.
Takeaway: O'Brien worked as a head coach at Penn State after leaving the Patriots and before joining the Texans, an experience that surely played a significant role in preparing him. He's won two AFC South titles and just earned a contract extension through 2022, putting him in position to become a success story among former Belichick assistants.
QB situation: A.J. Feeley and Jay Fiedler were the Dolphins' notable quarterbacks before Saban arrived. The team signed Gus Frerotte in free agency before Saban's first season, then acquired Joey Harrington via trade a year later. Frerotte went 9-6 as a starter under Saban, who wound up using five starters during his tenure.Takeaway: Saban worked as a head coach at Michigan State and LSU between leaving Belichick's Browns staff and joining the Dolphins. He was also a head coach at Toledo before joining Belichick's staff in Cleveland. Is Saban a former Belichick assistant? Yes. Did his association with Belichick define him when the Dolphins hired him? No.
QB situation: McDaniels inherited Jay Cutler and was expected to do great things with him, but the two clashed from the beginning after Denver showed interest in former Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel, who was traded to Kansas City instead. The Broncos traded Cutler to Chicago. Kyle Orton wound up making 27 of 28 starts during the John Wall Authentic Jersey abbreviated McDaniels era, which included spending a 2010 first-round pick on Tim Tebow.
Takeaway: McDaniels' turbulent, ill-fated run with the Broncos played a leading role in bolstering the narrative that former Belichick assistants could not export New England's culture simply because they enjoyed similar autonomy. McDaniels and Mangini qualify as a Kenny Golladay Jersey Belichick protégés more than the other coaches on this list. They were relatively young and had spent nearly all their careers with Belichick when hired as head coaches.
QB situation: Schwartz inherited Dan Orlovsky, Jon Kitna and Daunte Culpepper from a team that had gone 0-16 the previous season. The Lions traded Kitna and drafted Matthew Stafford first overall. Stafford started 61-of-80 games under Schwartz and peaked with a 10-6 season in 2011, when Stafford ranked third in touchdown passes (41) and 13th in Total QBR (60.5).
Takeaway: A three-year scouting association with Belichick does not exactly make Schwartz a disciple, especially when we consider that Schwartz coached with Baltimore and Tennessee for more than a decade between leaving Cleveland and joining Detroit. Schwartz helped make the Lions competitive after they were historically uncompetitive. However, the team did not consistently exhibit the discipline that has long been a Belichick hallmark.QB situation: Crennel inherited Matt Cassel and then signed one of his former Browns quarterbacks, Brady Quinn, as a free agent before the 2012 season. Cassel and Quinn were each 1-7 as Chiefs starters under Crennel, while Kyle Orton won two of his three starts.
Takeaway: Crennel operated under dire circumstances. He took over as interim coach after Todd Haley's firing and then endured a tragic ending to his only full season in 2012 when linebacker http://www.officialtigerstore.com/Jose_Iglesias_Jersey Jovan Belcher committed suicide in the parking lot at http://www.authenticcanadienshop.com/authentic-4-jean-beliveau-jersey.html team headquarters. Crennel's association with Belichick would not seem to rank high on a list of why http://www.torontomapleleafsofficialonline.com/Adidas-Johnny-Bower-Jersey his Chiefs tenure did not succeed. wholesale nba jerseys cheap jerseys elite jerseys for cheap wholesale nfl jerseys nike nba jerseys for sale wholesale jerseys

Josh McDaniels changes mind, jilting Colts to stay with Pats

After two days of reflection and conversations with the Patriots, New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has decided not to accept the Indianapolis Colts' head-coaching job, the team confirmed Tuesday night."After agreeing to contract terms to become the Indianapolis Colts' new head coach, New England Patriots assistant coach Josh McDaniels this evening informed us that he would not be joining our team," the team said in Marcus Martin Youth jersey a statement. "Although we are surprised and disappointed, we will resume our head-coaching search immediately and find the right fit to lead our team and organization on and off the field."

In the past 48 hours, Patriots owner Robert Kraft began talking with McDaniels and ultimately wound up sweetening his contract, helping to entice McDaniels, who had yet to sign a contract with the Colts, to remain in New England, a source said. But this wasn't a decision about money. The truth is, McDaniels, 41, has been vacillating Keith Hernandez Womens Jersey on this decision throughout the interview process, ever since meeting with the Colts on wild-card weekend. It is the reason a second meeting with Colts officials and team owner Jim Irsay was held. McDaniels was trying to get comfortable with the idea of taking his family out of New England and moving to Indianapolis, sources said.

Throughout the process, McDaniels had emphasized to the Colts that he would need time to mull the decision and discuss it with his family. The more McDaniels reflected on potentially having the opportunity to coach the Colts, the more it did not feel right to him and the better it felt to remain in New England. McDaniels still would like to become a head coach again, but this time, in this instance, he was not comfortable.
The Krafts also stepped in this week to make McDaniels feel even more wanted, and the two sides were able to come to an agreement Tuesday night that will enable New England to retain its offensive coordinator at a time it is losing its defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia, to Detroit as the Lions' new head coach. The about-face from McDaniels caught the Colts off guard. In a text to ESPN's Mike Wells, one member of Indianapolis's front office described the situation as Lanny McDonald Womens Jersey "Unreal. I'm at a loss."
McDaniels' decision to stay could spark speculation that perhaps Patriots head coach Bill Belichick's tenure is about to end, but those close to McDaniels say that isn't the case, a source told ESPN's Mike Reiss. The bigger factor to McDaniels was that the Patriots, who hadn't addressed his future until the past week or so, made an ultra-aggressive late push to try to entice him to stay. Had that happened a month or so ago, even if there was clarity that Belichick was definitely going to be the coach in 2018 (which he decisively is), McDaniels might not have pursued other head-coaching jobs as aggressively as he did.Indianapolis now finds itself in a coaching bind, playing catch-up at a time when the other head-coaching openings in the league have been filled.
During the interview process, the Colts spoke with McDaniels, who is remaining in New England; former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who accepted the Chicago Bears' head-coaching job; former Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel, who accepted the Tennessee Titans' head-coaching job; former Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, who accepted the Arizona Cardinals' head-coaching job; Baylor head coach Matt Rhule, who said he's remaining at the school; and former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard, who took a defensive passing-game coordinator coaching http://www.authenticdevilsstore.com/-3-ken-daneyko-jersey_c-450.html job with the Dallas Cowboys.
Four coaches who would have been members of McDaniels' staff in Indianapolis told ESPN's Dianna Russini on Tuesday night they were blindsided and had yet to hear from him.Despite McDaniels' sudden shift, two people who agreed to be assistants for him in Indianapolis will remain with the Colts, regardless of who the next head coach will be, sources said. Former Cowboys assistant head coach/linebackers coach Matt Eberflus signed to become the Colts' defensive coordinator, and former Illinois defensive line coach Mike Phair signed to become Indy's D-line coach.
Indianapolis now http://www.authentichoustonastrosshop.com/Justin-Verlander-Jersey has coaching and quarterback questions. On Sunday, http://www.newjerseydevilsofficialonline.com/Adidas-Jamie-Langenbrunner-Jersey ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported there still are concerns about Andrew Luck's shoulder and whether he could wind up needing additional surgery. The Colts now will have to go back to the drawing board, while the Patriots have some of the coaching stability they appeared to be losing. The situation is not entirely dissimilar to Belichick stepping away from the New York Jets' head-coaching job after the 1999 season, but he did that the day of the news conference. McDaniels has done this the night before he was Stephen Curry Jersey scheduled to be introduced by the Colts; but he was not comfortable making the jump, neither for him nor his family.
NFL head-coaching candidates with ties to New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick have already filled multiple openings during the 2018 hiring cycle. The other Belichick associates -- some with strong ties to Belichick, others with weaker ones -- have combined for a 156-227 (.407) record as head coaches under varying circumstances, with only one posting a winning record so far. This poor mark has become a leading case against hiring Belichick assistants, but the associations could be overblown.

becoming a total collapse

At this rate, Luciano Spalletti might want to contemplate learning the piano, http://www.officialwinnipegjetsstore.com/authentic-27-nikolaj-ehlers-jersey.html helping a homeless man and declaring his love for Andie MacDowell. Milan is a long way from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, but http://www.chiefsnflofficialprostore.com/REGGIE-RAGLAND-JERSEY-CHEAP.html on the weekend that Americans celebrated Groundhog Day, the Inter manager appeared to be trapped in a time loop akin to the one that Bill Murray found himself in during http://www.officialastroshop.com/Jose_Cruz_Jr_Jersey the 1993 movie by that name.

The Nerazzurri just keep on drawing. They have done so five times in a row, and Denzelle Good Jersey the last four of those by the exact same 1-1 scoreline. Even the order of the goals is becoming familiar. Against Fiorentina, Spal and now Crotone, Inter have taken the lead only to concede an equaliser in the second half.
In fairness, that is a slight improvement on the run of three losses they Kawann Short Youth jersey endured at the end of 2017. In total, Inter have gone 10 games without a victory over 90 minutes. Their sole triumph of the last two months came on penalties in the Coppa Italia, against second-tier Pordenone.
How does this happen to a side who had been soaring? Inter were top and touted as title contenders when they thrashed Chievo 5-0 at the start of December. They have not scored more than once in any fixture since. Rarely, indeed, have they threatened to.
Saturday was indicative. Inter scored with their first attempt on target against Crotone, Éder’s header deflecting up off Davide Faraoni and over Alex Cordaz. But rather than put their 17th-placed opponents to the sword, Spalletti’s team settled into a slow rhythm, and were punished when Andrea Barberis equalised on the hour.
Crotone, whose performances have been improving under Walter Zenga, deserve credit. This was their first-ever point at San Siro, earned with a starting XI featuring 10 Italians, and only one of those – the goalkeeper – over 27. A midfield trio of Barberis (24), Rolando Mandragora (20) and Womens Pavel Zacha Jersey Ahmed Benali (25) more than held their own against Matías Vecino, Borja Valero and Marcelo Brozovic.
It was a conflicting experience for Inter fans, who retain deep affection for Zenga. There were banners in the Curva Nord hailing him as “one of us” and he bounced along with supporters briefly during a rendition of “Chi non salta Rossonero è” (Anyone not jumping is a Milan fan”).
“An act of exuberance that does not offend anyone,” reflected Zenga when asked about it. “I was a kid who sat in the Curva, too … I had already come here with Catania and Palermo, and the fans always greet me as though I stopped playing a year ago even though it’s actually much longer. I’m convinced that supporters appreciate people who work hard and give everything for the shirt.”
Those words were not intended as a dig at this current Inter team, but there is a feeling among supporters that some of the current squad could do more. It would be hard to argue that Inter lack the talent to perform better when they had already done so through the first 15 games.
Spalletti refused to throw anyone under the bus, insisting: “There are no players who don’t care, if the level is not what it ought to be then that is my fault.” It is true this team can appear to lack a tactical solution beyond whipping yet more crosses towards a lone striker.

Todd Frazier looks like a bargain for Mets

It seemed all along that Todd Frazier was destined for the New York Mets or New York Yankees. Since he settled for a two-year, $17 million contract from the Mets, the takeaway has to be that the Yankees simply weren't interested -- at least beyond a one-year deal -- and will be content running with Miguel Andujar as their Opening Day third baseman.

The Mets, after bringing back Jay Bruce on a three-year contract earlier in the offseason, added another power bat in Frazier, who has hit 102 home runs the past three seasons, including 27 in 2017. The contract obviously looks like a bargain for the Mets given that Frazier has produced 3.4 WAR each of the past two seasons.

Mets third basemen hit .269/.315/.413 last season -- four different players started at least 25 games there -- and combined for minus-17 Defensive Runs Saved. Even given Frazier's age -- he’s entering his age-32 season -- he provides enough value at the plate to go with solid defense that he should easily earn the value of the contract and serve as an improvement over 2017's potpourri of Mets third basemen.
Frazier has Latavius Murray Youth jersey morphed into a "three true outcomes" slugger. In 2015, he hit .255 and belted Authentic Wesley Walker Jersey 79 extra-base hits for a .498 slugging percentage. In 2017, those numbers dropped to .213 with 46 extra-base hits, so if he's not hitting a home run he's not doing much else http://www.officiallightningsshop.com/authentic-18-ondrej-palat-jersey.html when he puts the ball in play.
You can see why there wasn't that much interest in him on the free-agent market. If the average continues to drop and he loses a step on defense, he'll decline dramatically from a 3-WAR player. The one thing propping up his offensive value last year was that his walk rate spiked as he drew 83 walks, giving him a career-best .344 OBP. The Mets were 10th in the National League in OBP, so Frazier could help lift that figure.
I'm skeptical about both options at first base but Frazier or Flores can play there, with Reyes sliding in at third if needed. There's power from one to eight and the bench gives new skipper Mickey Callaway some options to play Lance Parrish Authentic Jersey with. Now, despite all the home runs last year, the Mets were just ninth in runs. They didn't get on base enough and didn't run the bases well. The speed issue hasn't been addressed, so the Mets will once again have to slug their way to runs.
The Mets have been criticized for not spending enough on payroll. While Bruce and Frazier http://www.goldenstatewarriorsonline.com/Official-Rick-Barry-Jersey aren't big difference-makers, give the front office credit for taking advantage of the market and at least spending wisely. Will that be enough to push them into playoff contention? We all know that depends more on the health of the starting rotation than how many home runs Bruce and Frazier will hit. That leaves Mike Moustakas out there still seeking a home. While he comes with one gleaming credential -- 38 home runs -- it’s worth noting that the Royals ranked just 23rd in the majors in WAR at third base last season. He just didn’t do enough in the rest of his game to create much value -- and home runs are cheap these days.
The Mets were one team with a need at third, as the Angels added Zack Cozart and the Giants traded for Evan Longoria. The market for a third baseman is thin and unless a team like the White Sox shows interest, you have to http://www.officialmlbstoreco.com/MLB_JERSEYS_BOSTON_RED_SOX-c-1_38.html wonder if Moustakas ends up back in Kansas City. The Nationals have plenty of offensive depth -- Matt Adams, Howie Kendrick, Wilmer Difo, Brian Goodwin and uber-prospect Victor Robles form maybe the best bench in baseball -- and the rotation is strong in the top five. The depth in the rotation is a little thin if somebody goes down, but the weakest spot is catcher, where Matt Wieters had a miserable 2017. Lucroy is coming off a poor season as well, thus the rumor all winter has been the pursuit of Realmuto, with the Nationals unwilling to give up Robles or outfield prospect Juan Soto.
The rotation as it stands isn't terrible -- Joakim Nordstrom Jersey FanGraphs projects it as 10th in the majors -- but Darvish would certainly be an upgrade over Eddie Butler or Mike Montgomery (who is best suited for the bullpen). One report had the Cubs offering Darvish a four-year deal while the Twins offered a five-year deal. Although Theo Epstein signed Jon Lester to a six-year contract a few years ago (with a seventh-year option), we know the front office is averse to giving pitchers long-term deals. http://www.broncosauthenticsofficial.com/jeff-heuerman-jersey_c-554.html Still, many believe that the Cubs remain the favorites to land Darvish.
The team's website lists Luke Gregerson as closer, and while he has closing experience, he's coming off the worst season of his career, posting a 4.57 ERA with the Astros and serving up 13 home runs in 61 innings. The projections at FanGraphs like the St. Louis bullpen better than I do -- 10th in projected WAR -- but there has to be some concern about the ninth inning. Dominic Leone, if he pitches like he did last year with Toronto, could end up in that role. jerseys wholesale cheap nfl jerseys nike wholesale nfl jerseys cheap nfl jerseys paypal mlb baseball jerseys nhl jerseys china cheap jerseys nike nfl jerseys 2016

And, just as quickly, dog masks seem to have mercifully gone

the way of the Discount Double-Check, Cam's Dab, the Dirty Bird and, god willing, Dilly Dilly. ecause except for the wolf tattoo on his left biceps, Long and the rest of the Eagles seem to have moved on rather quickly from the whole underdog shtick. And, quite frankly, after destroying a dynasty like New England, it doesn't http://www.footballchargersofficialstore.com/Joe_Barksdale_Jersey really fit them anymore anyway. "The way this whole year has been for us, how could this team and this city and this game go any other way?" Long laughs. "For us, it was perfect. I'm sure the whole world at home was watching and going 'Oh, here we go, here's where the Eagles panic.'"

It's a legitimate Authentic Jack Mewhort Jersey concern, I tell Long, after checking his locker thoroughly for dog masks. (Nothing.) Because by my count, three teams have basically handed Super Bowls to New England, all because they got spooked by the big, bad, zombie Patriots and tried to http://www.winnipegjetsofficialonline.com/Adidas-Ben-Chiarot-Jersey "over-kill" them Adam Joseph Duhe Jersey late in the game with, oh, I don't know, stupid pass plays at the goal line."But there was no panic, not from Case Keenum Jersey this team," Long says. "I know what the whole world was thinking late in the game, but we've been proving the whole world pretty wrong for most of this season."
While this Super Bowl, with a record 1,151 yards and 74 points, featured less defense than the Pro Bowl, it did feel inside the stadium like Long or one of his defensive line mates would need to step up and become a Philly legend. That guy was defensive end Brandon Graham, whose strip sack on Brady would seal the win for Philly. If you're worried the play might have gone to Graham's head, don't. At 10:44 p.m. inside the Eagles locker room, Graham, still dressed in a game uniform streaked with Patriots red and blue across the front, is on FaceTime at his locker, doing the E-A-G-L-E-S chant with his family back in Michigan. Having seen the Falcons run out of gas late in last year's Super Bowl, the Eagles' defensive line made a point of trying to stay fresh for the Patriots' inevitable fourth-quarter surge.
"Shoot, I'm still fresh, I could go play some more right now," Graham jokes. "We just knew we had to keep coming, keep pushing the pocket and make that play when we got the chance. So we stayed aggressive and we kept coming and we matched their intensity." On his game-winning play, Graham got leverage by feigning a stunt. When the blocker overpursued, Graham used that momentum to throw him off balance and clear a path to Brady.
"Brady only had to hold the ball on one play and it ended up costing him the game," Graham says. "And now we're legends for life in Philly!"
Now, as the red digital clock inside the Philadelphia locker room clicks toward 11, the Eagles coax players toward the team buses with a makeshift dinner buffet set up near the exit that gives the area the thick, rich smell of a steakhouse. (Underdogs eat hot dogs. Champions eat prime rib.) But while most teammates leave the locker room with carryout boxes full of steak, 310-pound defensive tackle Fletcher Cox's hands are already full.
In the hallway, tackle Beau Allen is already talking about "getting back to Philly, man, that will be a sight to see. We started this thing as underdogs and ended up making history." Next to him, a few feet away from broadcaster Tony Dungy and Brian Dawkins, the Eagles' newest Hall of Famer, Lurie speaks softly about his parents and especially his dad, who taught him football. Asked to sum up this year in one word, he chooses "ethereal." Ah, a thing of delicate beauty that seems too perfect for this world.
One might also use that word to describe the silver Tiffany keepsake cradled safely in Cox's right arm as he exits the locker room. As the cornerstone of the franchise, the Eagles couldn't find a more perfect guy to safeguard Philly's most important artifact since the Liberty Bell. And this scene, with Cox, chomping on a stogie, wearing his new Super Bowl champ T-shirt and carrying that trophy home to Pennsylvania, feels like the perfect final moment to this incredible season.
The NFL did the right thing by upholding Zach Ertz's touchdown. As referee Gene Steratore said, Ertz caught the ball and took more than two steps to establish possession before he dove over the goal line. In NFL catch-ese, Ertz became a runner and this was not an instance of going to the ground. He didn't need to control it "throughout the process."
The ESPN Win Probability model strongly recommended going for it on the Eagles' 4th and 1 on their own 45. The decision alone (independent of the result) increased their chance of winning by 7.3%. They needed at least a 39% chance of success to make the risk worthwhile, and league average there is over 65%. A bold, but calculated decision that paid off.

Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk has said he can handle the scrutiny of being the world’s most expensive defender and his £75m price-tag should not detract from Liverpool’s fine defensive display against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Netherlands international has made an eventful start to his Liverpool career: scoring a late FA Cup winner against Everton on his debut, conceding a 95th-minute penalty against Spurs on Sunday and being told to lose weight by an Anfield predecessor in Jamie Carragher. “He needs to come into the dressing room and see if I need to lose some weight because I don’t think I need to,” Van Dijk responded, jokingly, to Carragher’s comment.

Van Dijk accepts he Womens Andrew Wiggins Jersey is under the spotlight after Liverpool broke their transfer record and the world record for a defender last month to sign him from Southampton, who Jürgen Klopp’s team face on Sunday. The 26-year-old insists he can cope with the pressure, although he believes Liverpool’s overall defending should not be judged purely on the basis of his transfer fee.
“I know because I made such a big http://www.authenticseattlemarinersshop.com/Ken-Griffey-Jersey step, for a lot of money, everything is going to be analysed,” the Liverpool centre-half said. “No one is going to look at the good things you do. Everybody is going to watch the bad things and that is how it is. But I will discuss it with the people who want to make me better, who can Womens Taylor Lewan Jersey make me better, and that is the manager and the players around me. If they think it is right then that is the way forward.
“It is a strength of mine to not really bother too much when people have their opinions, especially negative opinions. I http://www.authenticgrizzliestore.com/Lorenzen_Wright_Jersey know when I am doing it well and exactly when I am doing it wrong. No one will talk about my performance [against Spurs] in general. We defended very well, had two penalties against us with a lot of question marks around them, but no one is going to talk about that. But I know that as a team we did very well against one of the best strikers in Europe [Harry Kane].”
Klopp has claimed it will be next season before Liverpool see the best of Van Dijk given he missed much of last year with an ankle injury. The Liverpool manager, who also kept the defender on the bench for last week’s win at Huddersfield Town, also believes the Dutchman will need time to adapt to a different playing style.
Van Dijk concurred: “I have been out for eight months – last January until September really – and I didn’t play at Premier League level. It is not easy to come back and especially when I have made such a big step as now with all the eyes on me and they look at every small detail. I am just focusing on the team and myself.
“The football we play, the pressing, the different options with players, it http://www.authenticramsofficialshop.com/Nike-Troy-Hill-Jersey.html is totally different. So you need time to get used to everything but I am working on it every day together with the team. I am talking with the manager and everyone who can help me out.”
The defender also insisted he has no concern over the reception that potentially awaits him at St Mary’s this weekend. Jahleel Addae Womens Jersey “Maybe they can boo the whole game. What can you do about it? You can’t do anything. Authentic Ryan Anderson Jersey I made the decision, I have enjoyed every bit of it and I am very grateful for everything that they [Southampton] did for me. I have moved on, they have moved on.” basketball jerseys cheap cheap nfl jerseys basketball jerseys custom nba basketball jerseys basketball jerseys custom cheap nba jerseys cheap nfl jerseys china

Inside the Eagles locker room: No underdogs, just top dogs

THERE IS ALWAYS a story to be told in the crowded, chaotic rhythms of the stadium corridors just moments after the conclusion of a Super Bowl. At 9:45 Sunday night in Minneapolis, with Tom Petty's Eagles anthem "I Won't Back Down" still echoing from the field, Tom Brady strolled back Chris Sale Youth jersey to the Patriots locker room in quiet solitude behind a thin black curtain that offered little protection from http://www.washingtoncapitalsofficialonline.com/Adidas-Lucas-Johansen-Jersey the bitterly frigid air. At that exact moment, headed in the opposite direction and passing within feet of Brady, was Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, surrounded by a sea of family and friends, adoring fans, cheerleaders, team officials, a dozen TV cameras and a full security detail that ordered everyone to MAKE ROOM for the NFL's newest, and most unlikely, quarterback king.

Late Sunday, after Foles and the Eagles had completed the greatest underdog run in NFL history, I wandered down into http://www.cardinalsofficialonlinestore.com/Corey_Peters_Jersey the concrete hallways below U.S. Bank Stadium in search of the ubiquitous dog masks that had become the unofficial symbol of the Eagles' inconceivable run from NFC mutts to Super Bowl champions. But while I found plenty of Eagles hats and Eagles wings, some fur coats, lots of bear hugs, a Union Jack Danny Gare Jersey cape and even a Browns jersey, I didn't see a single dog mask.

And as I continued my search over the next hour inside the Eagles' epic post-Super Bowl locker room celebration, I watched firsthand as this team -- and, perhaps, the entire city of Philadelphia -- transformed before our very eyes from the greatest underdog act in the NFL to the top dogs of the sports world.
AT 10:14 INSIDE the Eagles' expansive, plush locker room, with Foles still in demand and surrounded by a mob that, at times, runs 10 deep, a softly smiling Carson Wentz quietly shuffles past his celebrating teammates underneath a cockeyed championship hat. There's just the tiniest hobble caused by his surgically repaired knee and just the tiniest hint of bittersweet joy in his countenance. How could the Eagles' franchise quarterback not be feeling conflicted? After Foles threw a 22-yard touchdown to undrafted rookie free agent Corey Clement to make it 29-19 halfway through the third quarter, fans in Minnesota sounded like they were doing the "SKOL!" chant. But they were actually yelling for the greatest, truest Philly underdog of them all: Foles.
In a moment, though, whatever is on Wentz's mind is drowned out when someone mercifully dumps Queen's "We Are the Champions" and, instead, cranks up a full-team, full-blast, full-bounce, 15-minute rendition of Kap G's now-fitting "Rings." This is followed by samples from Cardi B and Meek Mill, which means it's safe to say the Eagles have both the best football team and the best NC-17 postgame playlist on the planet. (In my mind, Post Malone kinda set the tone for this crazy game the night before when he ended his set at the ridiculously awesome Maxim party by imploring everyone to "make some mistakes, make some babies and have a Super Bowl!")
At 10:19 the first tsunami of champagne misses Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, who is dancing (if that's what we're calling it) in the middle of his players, and instead soaks my entire notebook while I just happen to be noting the immense difference between this locker room and the Patriots' after Super Bowl LI. Of course, there are many different ways to conduct yourself after winning the Super Bowl, and there is absolutely nothing wrong if an organization like the Patriots chooses to take a businesslike approach to victory, even if it borders on joyless.
But I gotta say, and I think most of America agrees with me on this one: Just like quarterback catches and trick plays, the Eagles do Super Bowl celebrating so much better than New England. And it's http://www.officialdallasstars.com/Adidas-Bobby-Smith-Jersey kinda nice to be reminded that this http://www.bearsnflofficialproshop.com/prince-amukamara-jersey-for-sale-c-68.html is all actually supposed to be fun.
Watching from just outside the dance circle is a beaming Jim Schwartz, a pupil of Bill Belichick's years ago in Cleveland and now the Eagles' defensive coordinator. Schwartz and I go back a bit -- when he was in Tennessee we once spent an entire interview talking about blackjack strategy as a way of understanding how defenses try to minimize the odds of playcallers -- and even though he Bruce Bochy Authentic Jersey didn't want to talk, it was obvious he understood just how rare it is for a former Belichick assistant coach to get the better of his mentor, especially in the Super Bowl. And if Schwartz's smile didn't give it away, his four-figure, crystal-ensconced, custom-made, sparkling loafers did the trick. That's how confident Schwartz is, I guess: He already has the shoes to match his new Super Bowl ring.
A moment later, when head coach Doug Pederson calls the team together for a chat, it is Schwartz who passes him the Lombardi trophy so he can hold the hardware while he talks to the team. (I have to be honest here: I missed most of Pederson's speech while listening to members of the Eagles organization speculate about how fans in Philadelphia would react to the win. "There might not be anything left by the time we get home," is how one team member put it. There were some arrests, at least one overturned car and a collapsed hotel awning on Broad Street, but, for the record, Philly is still standing.)
But I do manage to catch Pederson's most poignant moment, near the end when he hoists the trophy into the air and shouts, "An individual can make a difference ..." and the locker room finishes his sentence by yelling back to him, "... but a team can make a miracle!"
By this point, I have all but given up my search for dog masks when Mr. Underdog himself, Chris Long, enters the locker room. The top-seeded Eagles, presumed doomed after Wentz blew out his knee in December, joined the 1980 Raiders and the 2007 Giants as the only teams in NFL history to capture a title after winning every playoff game as an underdog. The whole dogface thing started when the Eagles sneaked past the favored Falcons in the divisional playoffs. Afterward, Long donned a kinda creepy German shepherd mask as a way of mockingly celebrating the Eagles' status as the greatest underdog in sports since, I guess, Rocky, or, perhaps, the science of Authentic C.J. Miles Jersey basketball analytics.

Antonio Conte challenges Chelsea to

Antonio Conte has challenged the Chelsea hierarchy to back him publicly and demonstrate they retain faith in his stewardship in an attempt to quash suggestions his job is under threat.

The Italian will go into Monday’s game at Watford with his side 19 points behind the leaders, Manchester City, and in a battle to finish in the top four, as a testing second campaign in charge reaches its final months. There have been tensions behind the scenes over recruitment, concerns Brett Anderson Jersey over the intensity of his training and calls of late from the head coach for the board to show “realism” and “patience”.
Neither have been traits particularly associated with Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea and, although there is a growing acceptance Conte will depart Stamford Bridge in the summer, the head coach has called for a public show of support to demonstrate he retains the board’s backing even in the short term.
“I must be honest, there were these type of rumours and speculation [that he might be sacked] even after the first game of the season when we lost against Burnley,” Conte said. “Maybe I’d like the club to prepare a statement for me, no? To say they trust me in my work and my job.
“But, at the same time, I know this never happened in the past, so why should I hope for something different? But, for sure, I’d like to have a statement of support against this speculation. The challenge is that, in the past, this never happened. So it’s a big challenge [for the board] to change the approach now. But, for sure, I’d be glad.”
Although Abramovich has always remained reluctant to speak in public, Chelsea did issue a 57-word statement offering José Mourinho their “full support” in October 2015 after a fourth defeat of his team’s fledgling title defence. That was an Carl Banks Youth jersey unprecedented move under the oligarch’s ownership but did not instigate an upturn and patience snapped in mid-December.
Conte’s side have competed far more impressively and, had City not sprinted clear at the top, their run of two defeats in 17 Premier League matches might have kept them in contention. They have also reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and remained in the FA Cup and Champions League, all with a squad the head coach had warned was not deep enough to challenge on four fronts.
Yet the campaign has been played out to a backdrop of discord and the depth of the champions’ options has been exposed by injuries, with Ross Barkley, who is understood to have pulled up in training at the end of last week, the eighth player to suffer a hamstring complaint. The England midfielder is being assessed, with the latest problem apparently not associated with the serious injury that left him in rehabilitation at Everton http://www.authenticsabresstore.com/-7-rick-martin-jersey_c-470.html until his move to London.
Chelsea have played 40 games this season – that tally was 28 at this stage last year – and there http://www.officialfootballcardinalsstore.com/Nike-Josh-Bynes-Jersey.html had been concerns Conte has not eased the intensity of training. He has dismissed that notion. “If you compare to the other clubs, we have fewer injuries,” he said. “The only problem is that, this season, we are playing a lot more and our squad wasn’t big enough to give them the right rest. We are working less [in training] than last season. A lot less.
“For sure, you have to change your plan, your work. When you play every three days, it’s impossible to give intensity in these two days between one game and another. Sometimes, when I have had the possibility, I have tried to do a little window of work for the players I had decided to rest [after a game]. But in this country, with four competitions and with the intensity of every game, you have to face a season with a big squad. This is very, very important. It’s very important to try to understand and find the best solution.”

To the outside observer, this was nothing less than

the gutsiest coaching job in Super Bowl history -- an all-out, nothing-to-lose strategic masterpiece equal to the monumental http://www.dolphinsshopfootballonline.com/Chase-Allen-Jersey moment. Pederson was sending in plays like a boxer determined to keep his opponent on the ropes. Body blow. Uppercut. Corner route in the end zone to a covered Alshon Jeffery. Touchdown pass to a double-covered Clement in the back of the end zone. Pederson and the Eagles watched last year's Super Bowl. They knew Brady and Belichick would keep coming. They had to stand on the gas pedal until they saw that checkered flag.

But to the Eagles themselves? To those who've been watching the Eagles for the past month? For the past five months? Well, this was just Pederson coaching the way Pederson does. That's been Doug all year, and that is Doug," Celek said. "He's a heck of a playcaller. He's going to keep you off-balance, and he did that tonight."
In the end, that's what it took to deliver Philadelphia its first Super Bowl title. This was the third time (in eight tries!) that a team beat the Brady/Belichick Patriots in a Super Bowl, and each of the three required some kind of superhuman effort. A David Tyree helmet catch. A Mario Manningham sideline miracle. A backup quarterback who was thinking about retirement last summer becoming the first player to throw and catch touchdown passes in the same Super Bowl. A gutsy play call that let everyone on the field know he believed in them, because Pederson's a coach who believes that's the only way this will work.
Former Patriot LeGarrette Blount, who signed a one-year deal with the Eagles last offseason, already has a 36-yard run and a 21-yard touchdown scamper against his former team. Here's what Blount said last week about facing New England: "Straight enemy mode," he said. "Ain't no friends, no homies, none of that. ... I don't play for the Patriots anymore. I don't watch the Patriots. I don't care about the Patriots."Patriots No. 1 wide receiver Brandin Cooks has been ruled out for the rest of the game with a head injury after taking a big hit from Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins in the second quarter. Cooks caught a 23-yard pass over the middle and circled in an attempt to gain extra yardage when he turned to the outside and ran into a thunderous hit by Jenkins.
The biggest surprise from a defensive game-plan perspective for the Patriots is that Malcolm Butler is not starting, with Eric Rowe getting the nod over him. The Patriots are primarily playing a "big nickel" package with three safeties. Rowe has been in coverage on both of the Eagles' first-down conversions on third down.Shades of Super Bowl XLII, as Eagles WR Torrey Smith pulls off a David Tyree-like helmet catch on 3rd and 12 to extend their opening drive and set up a Jake Elliott FG. Good mix of plays by Doug Pederson to get offense going, but Pats' defense stiffens near the goal line. It's two degrees for kickoff, which means this is officially the coldest Super Bowl ever. Beats Super Bowl XVI in Detroit in 1982 — also played indoors — which had a low http://www.floridapanthersofficialonline.com/Adidas-Colton-Sceviour-Jersey of five degrees that day.
It was all set up for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to produce another dramatic, fourth-quarter, winning drive -- the ball in his hands, 2:21 remaining and a touchdown would win it -- but then it all came crashing down. And there was Brady, sitting dejectedly on the field at U.S. Bank Stadium after having the ball stripped out of Artie Burns Jersey his hands by defensive end Brandon Graham, knowing that a sixth Super Bowl title had slipped out of his grasp if not for a late miracle.
It never came, one Curt Schilling Authentic Jersey last-gasp drive stopped short as Brady and the Patriots met their match in a worthy Philadelphia Eagles squad that never backed down and rolled the dice with success on fourth down in a 41-33 victory Sunday."They made one good play at the right time," said Brady, who was 28-of-48 for 505 yards, with three touchdowns. One of the major disappointments for the Patriots was how they were carved up throughout the game on defense, and an unconventional coaching decision -- to replace starting cornerback Malcolm Butler with Eric Rowe -- will be second-guessed in New England. Butler, the team's Super Bowl XLIX hero, played only on special teams in a move that Bill Belichick said wasn't disciplinary.
The Super Bowl appearance was the eighth in 18 http://www.officialpiratesproshop.com/Joaquin_Benoit_Jersey seasons during the Belichick-Brady era. It's the third time the pair has lost, and it comes with potential major changes on the horizon. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could move on to coach the Indianapolis Colts, and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia seems set to take over the Detroit Lions. Other assistant coaches might also be on the way out.
Then there is the question of the status of Belichick or Brady. In an interview with Westwood One before Super Bowl LII, Brady confirmed his plans to play in 2018, saying, "Yeah, you're gonna see me playing football next year. I don't envision not playing." And ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that Belichick is also expected to be back. But according to an ESPN The Magazine story, the Patriots dynasty started showing cracks in the aftermath of backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's trade to the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 31. It was a deal few saw coming, in part, because the club had been so adamant on keeping him as the heir apparent to Brady. But with Garoppolo's contract expiring at the end of the season, and Brady playing at Authentic Colorado Avalanche Jersey a high level at 40, things reached a breaking point.
"We probably had, in my opinion, the best quarterback situation in the league for the last -- let's call it 2½ years. It's just not sustainable, given the way that things are set up," Belichick said, referring to the salary cap. "It's definitely not something that we wanted to walk away from, and we rode it out as long as we could." nfl jerseys nike nfl jerseys from china cheap jerseys free shipping cheap jerseys for sale cheap jerseys nfl nhl jerseys china

Eddie Jones tells England

Eddie Jones tells England
There is an awkwardness to the situation in which Tottenham find themselves, a hollowness that should reverberate around all of modern football. Over the past http://www.authenticbruinsjerseys.com/Authentic-Kevan-Miller-Jersey three seasons they have probably been the best side in the Premier League. They have improved each year under Mauricio Pochettino. Their squad is perhaps better than ever before, certainly than it has been for half a century. They are a young, developing side, with an impressive young manager. They play progressive, modern football. They can press high or sit off and look to play on the break. And yet everything they do exists in a vacuum of impossibility; success a staging post to a destination that may lie for ever out of reach.

Once they had found their equaliser at Newport, last week could not have gone much better for Tottenham. Not only did they beat Manchester United but two of their top-six rivals slipped Joe Pavelski Authentic Jersey to surprising defeats. The gap from Spurs in fifth to United in second could have been 11 points; instead it is five, while Arsenal are six behind. Having broken the jinx last season, those days when Spurs finished behind their neighbours look to have been consigned to history.

This has been a memorable season. They have taken four points off Real Madrid and six off Borussia Dortmund in Womens Kam Chancellor Jersey the Champions League. They have outplayed Manchester United at home. They are averaging almost two goals a game. Twenty years ago, their average of a fraction under two points per game would have had them in the thick of the title race. This season they are 20 points adrift and, for all that has gone right, they risk missing out on Champions League qualification.
Their position is precarious. Without Champions League football, how many of this squad might consider their options? As Danny Rose made clear in the summer, the players are very aware that they could http://www.chargersshopfootball.com/Authentic-Desmond-King-Jersey follow Kyle Walker in leaving the club to double their money elsewhere. Without the revenue of Champions League football, it will be all the harder for Tottenham to offer the pay rises that might placate those whose heads are turned. http://www.jetsfootballofficialshop.com/Authentic-Jeremy-Kerley-Jersey Without Champions League football, how easy will it be to maintain the belief this is a project worth sticking with?
That question should concern everybody involved in football. Tottenham have done just about everything right. They have not overspent. They have developed talent they either bought young or produced themselves. They have sought to increase revenues with investment in infrastructure. If Jerry Hughes Womens Jersey football is not Mikhail Grigorenko Youth jersey merely to be the propaganda wing of petro-inflated billionaires, that must be the model clubs are encouraged to follow. Fans used to dream of salvation through a great generation of young players or a messianic manager; now advancement comes by catching the eye of a passing oligarch or sheikh.

Alex Ferguson said hi in Portuguese

Bom dia.” It was only two words and it was not exactly poetry, but Carlos Henderson Authentic Jersey it was enough. Andreas Pereira was being shown around Carrington by Manchester United’s chief recruitment officer, Geoff Watson, with his dad when Sir Alex Ferguson Jon Ryan Jersey appeared, which was probably always part of the plan, just as greeting him in Portuguese probably was too. A forward for PSV Eindhoven, the Brazilian had arrived as the outstanding player at the Nike Cup, a kind of youth world championship, but the people he passed had no idea who he was and he was not sure what he wanted to do next. Until, he says, the person he passed was the manager. And then his mind was made up.

“Suddenly we met Ferguson,” Pereira recalls. “He said ‘hi’ in Portuguese and that was very http://www.bengalsofficialonlinestore.com/Alex_Erickson_Jersey special to me. I didn’t expect that. I thought: ‘How does he know that?’ It was only a little detail but it made me want to go to United straight away. I wanted to sign immediately and stay there. So, I did stay. And from then I never wanted to go anywhere else.” It was 2011 and Pereira was 15; he is 22 now, and it has not quite worked out like that. Not just yet, anyway. But if he has gone somewhere else, it was because he wanted to – in fact, this summer he had to fight for his loan move to Valencia, arguing his corner in negotiations with José Mourinho – precisely because he believes it is the best way back.

Outstanding at youth and under-21 level, Pereira has played 13 Ivan Rodriguez Authentic Jersey senior games for United. His first was a League Cup defeat against MK Dons in August 2014. He forfeited matches this season for the future, pushing to go on loan. He sought minutes, development, and the decision was not taken lightly. Pereira is intelligent and articulate and the thought that went into it is clear, as is the personality it took.
If the reward is experience, he has had plenty. Last season he suffered relegation on loan at Granada, under Tony Adams, http://www.footballeaglesofficialonline.com/Nike-Reggie-White-Jersey.html playing the role of footballer and translator too, proficient in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Flemish; on Thursday his Valencia team, revived under Marcelino García Toral and third in the league above Real Madrid, face Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final at the Camp Nou.
In the hours before the game Mourinho may message him; soon after it his dad will call. He always does. A former footballer, Marcos Pereira played in Belgium for eight different clubs, ending at Lommel United, where Andreas began, and retired a year before his son joined Manchester United.
“He showed me videos, how I had to play. When I was at PSV, I’d get home from training and we’d train there. I’d practise free-kicks and corners. After games he’d say: ‘You have to do this, you have to do that.’ Sometimes I was, like: ‘Ah, just shut up, I don’t want to speak about football.’ But I always listened and he would tell me: ‘No, it’s for your own good.’” The coaching continues now. “He watches the game on telly at home in England and calls: ‘Why did you do that?’
“My dad always tells me what to do and what not to do on the pitch. He always gives me advice. But coming to Spain again was my decision. I wanted to go somewhere and play a regular season and play every game because I think it was important for me. Last year I did it and I felt stronger for it. I felt good. The United staff recognised it and they saw that I came back a better player. And that’s why I made the same decision this year.
“[At first] I was thinking that I want to stay. But as the pre-season went on I had the feeling: ‘I don’t think I’m going to play enough, I’m not going to get a lot of minutes.’ I have to play, I have to continue developing. I knew I would get some http://www.officialpanthersonlinestore.com/Jaromir_Jagr_Jersey game time at United but here I’m playing every week and being important for the team. It was a very difficult decision. I never want to leave United but I want to play as well. In the end it will make me a better player and I will still be a United player.” wholesale jerseys usa nba jerseys for sale wholesale jerseys paypal cheap jerseys wholesale mlb authentic jerseys cheap jerseys nfl

'Losing sucks': Tom Brady was brilliant but leaves broken

MINNEAPOLIS -- Tom Brady strutted into U.S. Bank Stadium in a stylish trench coat and dark shades, looking as if he were about to audition for a James Bond remake. On his way out of Super Bowl LII, Brady appeared less like an action hero and much more like a man who needed a stiff drink or three.

He was staggering down a hallway wearing his game pants and a light hoodie, his sweat-soaked hair mussed and his eye black smudged. Brady passed Matt Patricia, the outgoing defensive coordinator and Detroit Lions head coach-to-be, and Patricia reached out and grabbed Brady's arm on the way by. Brady looked down at the bearded figure in red and didn't say a word. He cut through a curtain, took his seat for a news conference and tried to explain how a man could throw for a playoff-record 505 yards at age 40 and still feel miserable about it.
"Losing sucks," Brady said into his microphone.Even losing valiantly while putting 33 points on the board in a building located two-and-a-half hours away from his grandfather's farm in Browerville, Minnesota, where young Tommy spent parts of his summers milking cows and fishing and puking after foolishly trying his uncle's tobacco chew. n all-grown-up Brady didn't feel like throwing up after the Philadelphia Eagles strip-sacked him in the final minutes and beat the Patriots by a 41-33 count. He'd already played in seven of these incredible games, all heartbreakers for one team or the other, and he'd long ago accepted the terms of engagement.
In other words, if you're going to win five Super Bowl titles by a combined 19 points, you're going to get burned, too. You're going to play 60 minutes without punting the ball even once, and you're going to connect with three receivers -- Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan and Rob Gronkowski -- for more than 100 yards apiece, and you're still going to feel as gutted as your Patriots felt a decade ago when the New York Giants derailed a 19-0 season with a series of wild and crazy plays.
Brady had come back from 28-3 down to the Atlanta Falcons in the big game last year -- without the then-injured Gronkowski -- to win his record fifth ring in overtime. This time around, without Julian Edelman all season and without Brandin Cooks (head injury) for most of the final three quarters, Brady erased a 10-point deficit Sunday night and gave New England its first lead with his third touchdown pass of the second half, a 4-yarder to Gronkowski, with 9:22 to play.
But two second-string quarterbacks on the other side, Nick Foles and his head coach -- an old backup named Doug Pederson -- were reveling in the biggest night of their football lives, too. As a coach, Pederson has been more of a riverboat gambler than Brett Favre, the Hall of Famer who played ahead of Pederson, ever was as a quarterback. Pederson spent the entire season going for it on fourth down, and he wasn't about to stop because the great Bill Belichick was standing across from him, or because more than 100 million Americans were watching.
On fourth-and-goal near the end of the first half, Pederson ran a successful flea-flicker pass to Foles, who had never caught an NFL throw. Better yet, Pederson ran the play after Belichick had tried a flea-flicker pass to Brady, who dropped the ball despite the fact his previously-injured right hand was no longer taped up. Pederson went for it again on fourth-and-1 at his own 45 after Brady's go-ahead touchdown, and Carson Wentz's body double, Foles, honored his coach's faith. Seven plays later, Foles found Zach Ertz for a lead the Eagles wouldn't surrender.
Brady took the field with 2:21 to play, a timeout and the two-minute warning in his hip pocket. Everyone had seen this movie before, over and over and over. As the greatest quarterback of all time, Brady was going to drive the Patriots down the field, win the game and break his tie with Bart Starr for most NFL titles. He hadn't been sacked all night, as the GOAT of http://www.officialauthenticlionsstore.com/Nike-Tavon-Wilson-Jersey.html offensive line coaches and soon-to-be-70-year-old Dante Scarnecchia, had done a masterful job scheming against Philly's deep and dangerous front.
But on the second snap, that impenetrable Patriots' wall finally caved. The Eagles' Brandon Graham rushed hard and reached in with Hollis Thompson Jersey his left hand to knock the ball out of Brady's grip and into the arms of Derek Barnett. Philadelphia's only sack and New England's only turnover of the night left Brady sitting on his rump, incredulous over what had just happened and hoping against hope that the Tuck Rule would save him the way it did that snowy night in Foxborough 16 years ago when the dynasty was born.
Brady had one last shot at it after the Eagles kicked a field goal for an eight-point lead, but he was left for the kind of Hail Mary that didn't work Womens Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Jersey in New England's second Super Bowl loss to the Giants. With nine seconds left, Brady took the shotgun snap, slipped away from pressure, and heaved a ball high toward Gronkowski, who had failed to catch the rebound of Aaron Hernandez's tip in the end zone against the Giants six years ago. The ball was batted around, and this time Amendola was the one who got to it too late before it fell to the ground.
The Eagles erupted in celebration of their first Super Bowl victory, and their first NFL title since 1960, while Brady and Belichick assumed the role of gracious losers as somebody else's confetti fell around them. Belichick would say he was proud of how his team competed, and on cue he'd offer no details about why Malcolm Butler, the goal-line hero in http://www.officialarizonacoyotes.com/Adidas-Radim-Vrbata-Jersey the epic Super Bowl victory over Seattle three years ago, didn't see the field on defense on a night when New England's secondary couldn't cover or tackle anyone.
For his part, Brady criticized himself for not making the catch of Amendola's perfect throw on a trick play in the second quarter, and for unwittingly resurrecting his wife's quote from that second Giants' Super Bowl in Indianapolis, where Gisele responded to a taunting Giants fan with a shot at Wes Welker: "My husband cannot f---ing throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time," she said in 2012. Brady said Sunday night's play "was there to be made and I missed it." The quarterback said he'd caught the pass in practice. "But I didn't catch it tonight."
