upends South Carolina in emotional SEC clash

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- In the final minutes of Sunday's game, South Carolina's Dawn Staley was back in the locker room and star A'ja Wilson was fouled out on the bench. That gives you a good idea how the No. 4 Gamecocks' trip to Missouri went.

For the second year in a row, the Tigers upset South Carolina on their home court of Mizzou Arena. Last season, that game was Feb. 19, and the Gamecocks didn't lose again on their way to the 2017 national championship. "Maybe this is the prelude to that [again]," Staley said after the Tigers' 83-74 victory. "They've got a really good basketball team. They've done well against us."
It was an emotional game on both sides; No. 15 Missouri had standout Sophie Cunningham back after a one-game absence with a strained knee suffered at Alabama on Dec. 31. Thursday, http://www.officialsunstore.com/Dragan_Bender_Jersey LSU upset the Tigers without Cunningham, who said she wanted to play then but wasn't cleared by the doctor. That night, though, she felt certain she'd be http://www.authenticrangershop.com/authentic-77-anthony-deangelo-jersey.html on the court Sunday against the Gamecocks. And what a game she had: 27 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the floor and 9-of-11 from the foul line. She also had seven assists and six rebounds -- and one little "How about that shot?" dance near the Mizzou bench in the second half. "I'm just trying to enjoy every moment," said Cunningham, the hometown kid born and raised here in Columbia. "Our fans love seeing us have fun."
Much fun was had by the Tigers and the 4,652 fans who braved freezing rain to make the game, but that was not the case for the Gamecocks. Wilson was in foul trouble throughout the afternoon, and ended up playing just 19 minutes. Her fifth foul came with 2 minutes, 55 seconds left when she tried to get through a screen. By that point, Staley had already seen enough, and then some. She didn't put in a substitute for Wilson in the allotted time, resulting in the second technical of the game on the Gamecocks' bench. Staley was ejected and walked off the court, later expressing her displeasure while trying not to go too far into that.
Staley thinks that her players are in Jonathan Stewart Womens Jersey the position of having to put up with extra-physical play and not retaliate. "I have to protect my players," Staley said. "I'm going to do that every day of the week. Every day. So whoever wants to call our games or talk about our kids, I'm going to protect them. I protected them today. And I'm going to continue to do that." Wilson came in averaging 24.6 points and 11.4 rebounds. She finished with a season-low eight points, on 4-of-7 shooting, and six rebounds. Her previous scoring low in what has been a fantastic senior season was 16 (twice). Wilson was coming off a 25-point, 15-rebound performance Thursday against Mississippi.
Staley felt that Wilson wasn't given the respect she deserves as a two-time SEC player of the year and a strong candidate this season for national player of the year. "I don't know what it is, but we're going to figure it out," Staley said. In last season's Tigers-Gamecocks game, Wilson had 23 points and nine rebounds. But then-senior Alaina Coates was limited to two points and fouled out, having played 20 minutes. Missouri was called for 23 fouls in that game versus 19 for South Carolina. But Staley was upset enough about that contest that she contacted Sally Bell, the SEC coordinator of women's basketball officials, before Sunday's game. Staley was concerned about having two of the same officials Sunday that also worked last year's game.
"I don't know if that's just coincidental; maybe it was, because that's what she said," Staley said. "I'm not saying they're the reason why [South Carolina lost], but when you're coordinating officials in games, you gotta do better. There's implications not just in our conference -- maybe people have a little South Carolina fatigue -- but it has NCAA implications. I don't like to put our team through that.
"We play a tough schedule; we've got a tough league. When we're able to play the way we need to play, and play our players, we can give you a good game. You can see a great game. When we have to play people who [normally] don't play for 20 or 30 minutes? That's really hard." But all this makes you wonder: Was the officiating in the Gamecocks' heads even before Sunday's game began?
Still, there might be a silver lining to the loss: Other players had to Kellen Winslow Youth jersey step forward with Wilson and fellow post starter Alexis Jennings (21 minutes) limited by foul trouble. Point guard Tyasha Harris led the way with a double-double, 14 points and 10 assists. The Gamecocks (13-2 overall, 2-1 SEC) play their next two games at home, against Auburn on Thursday and No. 7 Tennessee on Sunday (ESPN2, 1 p.m. ET).
For her part, Missouri coach Robin http://www.officialauthenticravenstore.com/womens_patrick_onwuasor_jersey Pingeton -- who had starting forward Jordan Frericks play just 18 minutes before fouling out in the fourth quarter -- stayed away from the fray in regard to officiating."We've got a lot of respect for South Carolina," Womens Tony Perez Jersey Pingeton said. "No doubt, A'ja Wilson is one of the best players in the country, and she's every bit as good as advertised. I thought our kids did a really good job following our game plan. We bent a couple of times, but we didn't break."
The win was important for the Tigers (14-2 and 2-1), especially with four of their next five games on the road -- including a Jan. 28 rematch with the Gamecocks at South Carolina. cheap nfl jerseys usa mlb authentic jerseys hockey jerseys cheap jerseys wholesale nike nfl jerseys wholesale nhl jerseys china

This will be a memorable year in the life of Manny Machado

Sometime in 2018, the Baltimore Orioles will probably trade him to a World Series contender and give him the same opportunity that Justin Verlander had after landing with the Houston Astros. Then Machado will become a free agent in November and sometime before the new year, he will begin to field offers for tens of millions of dollars -- or maybe even hundreds of millions. He will be rewarded for all of the work that he put in as a kid and in his years with the Orioles, all of that time he spent in rehabilitation from two serious knee injuries.

But the return on his investment in himself may not max out unless Machado digs in and performs more consistently. In order to get the sort of record-setting contract he could pursue, Machado needs to have a strong launch year into the open market, as an on-field response to some of the questions that executives have about him -- heard as we prepared our top-10 list of third basemen.
“To be honest, he looks bored sometimes,” said one evaluator. Said another: “I think he needs a different challenge.” Alex Rodriguez was Machado’s idol when he was growing up as a kid in Miami, and the comparisons between the two as players are natural because they were raised in the same area, as wildly talented, thriving power-hitting infielders. But there seems to be one http://www.detroitlions.us.com/WOMENS-DJ-HAYDEN-JERSEY.html enormous and important difference between Alex Rodriguez and Machado.
Throughout A-Rod’s career, nobody ever questioned his focus. Ever. Potential investors viewed Rodriguez as someone of superlative skill and total commitment, someone who would do whatever he needed to do daily to be great. That helped him land two record-setting contracts -- his $252 million deal with the Rangers, which he opted out of to http://www.rangersteamonline.com/Chris_Kreider_Jersey negotiate a $275 million monster with the Yankees.
Last year was a challenge for Machado, for sure. Early in the year, he was at the center of the Orioles’ beanball stuff with the Red Sox after colliding with Dustin Pedroia on a slide. The Orioles had the worst rotation in the majors and for the Baltimore position players, there must’ve been a Groundhog Day feel to the season: By the fourth or fifth inning on most days, Machado and the other position players would be staring at an early deficit of three or four runs. By September, the Orioles sometimes looked like the walking dead, Machado among them.
This was reflected in the feedback of evaluators solicited for their rankings of the top 10 third basemen. For some, Machado was listed fourth or fifth or even sixth, with caveats. At his best, they believe, he is the most talented defender at the position, and capable of big offensive numbers -- but that he sometimes will drift through days or weeks, particularly in the way he works through his plate appearances. His production in 2017 was remarkably erratic.
He finished with a .259 average and a .310 on-base percentage, and as ESPN Researcher Paul Hembekides notes, his performance outside of hitter-friendly Camden Yards was flat-out awful last season -- a .268 on-base percentage in 336 plate appearances, with an Adjusted OPS+ of 80, well below major league average.
He’s going to get a great contract and make more money than almost all of his peers, because of how special a defender he is, whether he’s at shortstop (where the Orioles are expected to play him this year) or at third base. But Machado could help himself by being more consistent, in a sport that probably values that trait -- and compensates for Cameron Payne Jersey it -- more than any other.
Our top-10 list of third basemen, which is based on the input of evaluators and the insight and data generated by ESPN’s Paul Hembekides, Sarah Langs and Mark Simon. And of all the tasks in this series, trying to rank the third basemen is the most impossible.Near the end of spring training last year, the opinion among then-New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi and his coaches was unanimous. According to GM Brian Cashman, Girardi and his staff believed 20-year-old super-prospect Gleyber Torres (now 21) should start the season as the replacement for injured shortstop Didi Gregorius. But Cashman disagreed.
Cashman used his veto power to quash the idea; Torres had no experience above A-ball, had never played in cold weather and was excluded from the 40-man roster at the time. Still, Cashman believes in Torres' ability.“He has a chance to be an above-average everyday player at the major league level,” said Cashman, who had acquired Torres as the centerpiece of the Aroldis Chapman trade with the Cubs in July 2016. With the trades of second baseman Starlin Castro and third baseman Chase Headley, the Yankees have created two holes that, at the moment, would be filled by a combination of Torres, Ronald Torreyes, Tyler Wade, Miguel Andujar and Thairo Estrada. Besides Andujar, who sticks strictly to Antoine Vermette Jersey the hot corner, all can play either position.“We are currently set up to go this route, unless something presents itself between now and whenever that gives us a Paul Millsap Jersey change of position," Cashman said.
It's a pretty good bet Cashman acquires a veteran infielder before spring training starts next month. In trades, Cashman could bring in the Pirates’ Josh Harrison or the Cardinals’ Jedd Gyorko. Among the free-agent options, someone such as former Yankees Eduardo Nunez or Yunel Escobar could be a fit. The Yankees would like to bring back third baseman Todd Frazier, but the length and size of the contract he wants might not square with the Yankees’ goal of ducking under the $197 million luxury-tax ceiling. If Cashman adds one of those players, it still leaves Torres primed to grab the other infield job, even though his Triple-A season ended early last June when he required Tommy John surgery on his non-throwing left elbow. He's fully healed, and is expected to start spring training with no restrictions. cheap jerseys nfl nba basketball jerseys wholesale mlb jerseys nhl jerseys wholesale mlb jerseys wholesale

thing is, we’ve been so conditioned to be this close

It was so non-Billsy to have that thing happen. So yeah, it’s been pretty remarkable to have this happen. But what keeps you going is just having the memory of knowing that it will eventually come.” When that moment happened, Bills fans across the country went nuts. They made plans to either go to Jacksonville or come to Buffalo for this once-in-two-decades experience.

Ryan Lampman and his friends drove nine hours from Louisville, Kentucky to Buffalo. As soon as Buffalo clinched, Lampman made the “no-brainer” decision to make the trip. One of his friends left his daughter’s birthday party early to make sure they reached Buffalo on time. “This is the most fun I’ve ever had,” Lampman said, as a Buffalo-themed chorus of “Shout” played over the loudspeaker. “Other than my children, this is the best moment of my life. No doubt.”
This was the answer for all the lean years. Ryan Spies wasn’t even a teenager the last time the Bills made the http://www.officialdallasstars.com/Adidas-Esa-Lindell-Jersey playoffs. He would root, cheer, “hope and pray.” He thought a day such as Sunday would never happen. “Over time, it just became more and more sad,” Spies said. “Like, are we going to get it? Do we have to give up? Am I going to have to change teams? I could never change teams, so I would just stop watching football, in all honesty. It wasn’t a good feeling.”
It’s a feeling well-known in Cleveland, Buffalo and Detroit, where finding something else to do on Sundays becomes more appealing, especially when change continually comes. Since 2000, the Browns, Bills and Lions have had 22 head coaches combined. Soon, it’ll be 23.
It’s lunch time on Friday afternoon at Nemo’s in Detroit, an iconic pub once considered one of the best sports bars in the country by Sports Illustrated. There’s a picture of the Stanley Cup visiting the bar after the Red Wings won hanging on the wall. Across the walls are newspapers celebrating the success of the Tigers, Red Wings, Robin Yount Authentic Jersey Pistons and Michigan and Michigan State football and basketball. The Lions? Based on a quick sweep, there are two papers: one marking the firing of Matt Millen as general manager and one denoting the 0-16 Lions season in http://www.authentictorontobluejaysshop.com/Justin-Smoak-Jersey 2008. There might be more, but they weren’t noticeable. “I get asked, how come no Lions?” said Tim Springstead, one of the co-owners of the bar. “I say, ‘Trust me, I’ve been waiting for 50 years to get a newspaper. They have one playoff win in my lifetime.’ That’s hard.”
Yet in Detroit, there’s hope amid another changing offseason. The Lions fired coach Jim Caldwell following a winning season, a marked change for a franchise known for being too loyal. It’s something Edinson Volquez Youth jersey that has been percolating since 2015, when owner Martha Ford fired general manager Martin Mayhew and team president Tom Lewand midseason. “This year, it shows me that somebody’s being held accountable,” Springstead said. “Think five years ago, would they fire a 9-7 coach? Are you kidding me? Never would have happened here.”
Springstead is willing to have a bit of patience as general manager Bob Quinn makes his hire, potentially Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. He understands the building of a business: Nemo’s has been open 51 years. In the history of the place, there has been only one Lions playoff win. But Springstead likes what Detroit has with its quarterback, front office and other players. If the right coach is hired, there is reason to believe. But he needs them to prove it.
Yet as a bar owner, he has seen what the Lions have, what businesses kill for: “loyalty.” He jokes that there should be an award given to Lions fans who have endured the rough decades and kept going. But why have they? One of his bartenders, 63-year-old Dave Stronski, shrugged and said, “hope.” Right now, Stronski said, is the most hope he has had in the Lions. “I think the new GM is going to turn them around,” Stronski said. “He’s from one of the best programs ever, New England, and I hope they get that defensive coordinator from New England as the coach.”
Until then -- and if Detroit wants to hire Patricia, it can’t do so until New England is out of the playoffs -- Lions fans have to do what they’ve done for so long: wait and hope this change brings the Lions their http://www.officialredsoxauthentic.com/Dustin_Pedroia_Jersey first division title and home playoff game since the 1993 season, a game that bar manager Pat Osman said would be “huge.” While Detroit might be closer than it has been in a while to true success, there are reminders of the past. They are on the walls at Nemo’s. When Springstead heard about what was happening in Cleveland the next day, he shook his head.
It happened twice Saturday afternoon. As the group of fans protesting Womens Jersey the Cleveland Browns mismanagement over the past two seasons drove and walked in a loop around First Energy Stadium, at least two carried signs saying essentially this: “Welcome to the club.”
The club of 0-16 teams is an exclusive one: the '08 Lions and '17 Browns. Lions fans understand the pain of Browns fans. On this day, with wind chills making the temperature feel like minus-12, that pain and frustration yielded to another emotion: hope, for a change. It’s what this parade-slash-protest begged for. Almost 3,000 people showed up to send the message that they were tired of what they’d seen the past few seasons: 1-15 in 2016 and 0-16 in 2017. Poor ownership from Jimmy Haslam and a coach, Hue Jackson, still employed despite a 1-31 record.

first float in the parade, driven by 27-year-old

Kyle Snyder of Columbus, Ohio, petitioned for Bernie Kosar to join the player personnel department. It went from there, including a giant Minion from "Despicable Me" on the back of one float with a sign reading, “Mr. Haslam, are you even listening?”

“We’re sick of getting beat up. We’re sick,” said 53-year-old Mike Cooper from Cleveland, who drove a waste disposal truck with "CLEVELAND BROWNS" painted on it along with "0-16" and "SUPER BOWL 20??." “I mean, year after year after year, 20 quarterbacks. I mean, at http://www.billsfootballofficialprostore.com/Authentic-Adolphus-Washington-Jersey what point? This is basically making a statement that we are tired of being the losers in the nation. I mean, what other team has lost this many games?”
Cooper loves football. So he keeps returning. The reason echoes Stronski’s shrug in Detroit. “It’s the slightest bit of hope that we all hang on to,” Cooper said. “It’s that little slice, and we’re just waiting for that opportunity.” While those at the parade in Cleveland on Saturday know some viewed it as being disloyal, those marching and riding were doing so because they believed they were being loyal to the team they love that returns the passion with misery-times-16.
“This is our team,” said Tony Timoteo, who organizes Oliver Kylington Jersey a Browns quarterback “graveyard” at his home in North Ridgeville, Ohio. “No matter what, we’re always going to support them. We’re not the type of people that are going to jump ship to other cities. We’re one of the cities that notoriously stay loyal. “No matter what, 0-16, we’re still loyal. I always think that there’s a better way, but never, ever think about joining another team. Ever. Ever.”
Timoteo supports Buffalo and Detroit because of the similarities. Those fans understand where Cleveland is and where Cleveland wants to be. They understand the blue-collar culture of the communities and how they stay loyal to their teams despite a lack of success. “I’m actually really happy for the Bills Mafia and their tailgaters and all their fans for getting into the playoffs,” Timoteo said, “because that’s what we hope to be. Because if we get into the playoffs, that’s what we’re going to be like.
“We’re just waiting for our time, for our moment.” The moment had nervous energy Sunday afternoon in Buffalo. Despite the chants of “Shady! Shady!” ringing through 716 Food and Sport whenever LeSean McCoy broke Womens Trae Waynes Jersey off a run and the cheers whenever the Bills' defense made a play on Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles, nothing felt easy for the Bills. Few things have ever been easy for this team. A chant of “trust the process” -- a motto of the still-new Sean McDermott era -- started as the Bills had their best drive of the game, the one that led to their only points, a field goal.
Buffalo’s DJ Milk continually yelled, “Keep your spirit up.” For most of Sunday, Bills fans did. During commercial breaks, he played the Prince hit “1999.” The Bills mascot showed up and danced on a booth, turning 716 into a combination of high-anxiety football and high-intensity dance club. “We live for this. ... We’ve been waiting for this our whole life," said Emory Weber, who was at the bar with his brother.
But hope started to disappear. The Bills couldn’t move the ball on Jacksonville’s defense. Ben Koyack’s third-quarter touchdown for the Jaguars silenced the bar. DJ Milk tried to keep the energy lively. With Buffalo trailing 10-3 at the start of the fourth quarter, Lampman was ready for the Bills “to make a comeback.”
It was a sense of dread and hope all rolled into one three-hour period that fans of the Lions, Bills and Browns could relate to. After the Bills dropped an interception, Lampman turned around and cursed. Another fan, having seen this too often, kept muttering, “He’s killing us. He’s killing us,” as he watched Bortles run to extend drives. There was one last chance. Buffalo got the ball with two minutes left. The Bills started moving. Then Tyrod Taylor got hurt. In came Nathan Peterman, the quarterback whose one start and five-interception performance almost cost the Bills a playoff berth.
Peterman ran for a first down, eliciting perhaps the loudest cheer of the day. Then Gary Carter Authentic Jersey he threw an interception. Checks were asked for. Jackets remained on. En masse, people filed out almost in silence, exhausted. The drought was over. And so was Buffalo’s season. “Roller coaster,” said 35-year-old Tom Hughes of Buffalo. “Edge of your seat the whole time. We knew going in it was going to be that kind of game, where it was low-scoring and any big play was going to be the difference.”
Hughes thinks the combination of McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane has potential. That’s the hope to hold on to. This season was unexpected. After the Bills made the playoffs, Hughes watched videos of celebratory reactions for an hour. Now there might be something to build on, though there still is http://www.ramsnflofficialproshop.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_AARON_DONALD_JERSEY.html the reality. As he was leaving, a visitor told Hughes that he was sorry the Bills lost. Hughes’ response: “We’re used to it.”
Yet he’ll be back. They’ll all be back. Hope -- something all three of these franchises essentially trade on -- is strong now.“It’s just the dedication that this city has to the team, and it’s something that I’m never going to let go of, personally,” 28-year-old Buffalo resident Christina Carbone said. “I love the Bills. I love everything that this city and the team stands for, and I think that’s what keeps this city going -- with the hope for next year.” cheap hockey jerseys wholesale jerseys nfl wholesale jerseys from china nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys china

teams with a bye should, the Eagles also

mixed in things the Falcons hadn't seen before -- or, at the very least, since high school. After getting the speedy, young Falcons to flow to the play side, Pederson dialed up something out of the single-wing to get Nelson Agholor free on a counter for a crucial 23-yard run on third-and-3. As underdogs, they played like a team that needed to take risks, going for it on fourth-and-1 at the end of the same drive and scoring their only touchdown on a LeGarrette Blount plunge.

Contrast that to the Falcons, who rued the departed Kyle Shanahan in a game in which their offense simply didn't do enough to win. New offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian took much of the blame as Atlanta's offense failed to live up to the lofty heights of 2016 throughout the season, and he -- alongside coach Dan Quinn -- certainly didn't have his best game as a coordinator. The Falcons seemed to decide to go for it on fourth-and-2 at midfield in the second quarter, only to somehow end up not getting set and running a play just after the play clock expired. The play wouldn't have worked, but while the Falcons caught a break, the whole episode just spoke to how flummoxing their offense seemed to be at times on Saturday.

Sarkisian's playcalls on the final series also came in for plenty of criticism. A first-down fade to Julio Jones failed. On second down, he called for a shovel pass to Terron Ward, who didn't seem ready for the ball. Third down was a slant to Jones short of the end zone, before fourth down saw the Falcons motion fullback Derrick Coleman out as a wide receiver before running a sprint-out for Jones, who slipped and never got open on a play the Eagles saw coming as the Falcons broke the huddle.
The playcalls certainly didn't work, but they weren't as bad as the picture I presented above. The fade to Jones is entirely defensible given that he was matched up one-on-one against the shorter Ronald Darby. Ryan's throw was bad. I don't understand why it wasn't to Devonta Freeman or Tevin Coleman, but the shovel pass has been an effective play near the goal line this season, with the Chiefs scoring repeatedly with the tactic. The Patriots also scored on a shovel pass on Saturday.
As for the fourth-down call, the fullback motioning out to the weak side is a tactic the vast http://www.authenticwarriorstore.com/Javale_Mcgee_Jersey majority of teams (including the Patriots) will use to both identify coverage and take a defender out of the play. The Eagles called the sprint-out, but the Saints used a similar play as their regular two-point/fourth-down play for years, while the Raiders ran the same sort of sprint-out and throw to the pylon for a game-winning score against the Chiefs in Week http://www.nflbillsofficialauthentic.com/Nike-Thurman-Thomas-Jersey.html 7. It's a natural follow-up when teams are expecting a fade, but Jones slipped. I don't think it was a great playcall, but it's not an inherently stupid choice.
Atlanta fans' frustration with Sarkisian is also Vincent Rey Womens Jersey overstated and a product of regression toward the mean. The Falcons were dominant under Shanahan last season. They led the league in points scored, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Their five offensive linemen started all 16 games, the Pete Rose Jersey only team in the league to do so. Atlanta sported the most productive first-down offense in the history of football. Even if the Falcons planted Shanahan on the sidelines and didn't allow him to take a single call from another team, Atlanta's offense was going to decline in 2017.
And to be honest, it didn't decline very much. The Falcons had the league's third-best first-down offense. They were the best team in the league converting third http://www.officialrockiestore.com/Ian_Desmond_Jersey downs. Atlanta finished ninth in offensive DVOA and seventh in points per drive.
Their raw numbers went down because the Falcons ran a league-low 157 meaningful drives on offense, 24 fewer than Christian Covington Authentic Jersey the league average and 38 fewer than the league-leading Cardinals. That's a product of their own offense generating long drives and their defense struggling to get off the field. No team faced more plays per drive than the Falcons' defense, which had the second-longest average time of possession per drive on defense. As a result, the Falcons' offense struggled to get on the field and had the league's second-worst average starting field position.
If you want to ignore that, it's your call. The easy, reactionary thing to do would be to fire Sarkisian. Never mind that some Falcons fans wanted to fire Shanahan after his first year in town, when Atlanta ranked 23rd in offensive DVOA and looked disjointed all year, which would suggest that continuity might be the smarter move. There just isn't much in the way of better options out there. Consider that the Seahawks are hiring Brian Schottenheimer -- who has been run out of his past three coordinating jobs with the Jets, Rams and at Georgia -- because they were concerned that he wouldn't last much longer on the market. Who are you hiring who represents a clear upgrade on Sarkisian?
I asked Falcons fans on Twitter and heard Gary Kubiak as the most frequent response, but Texans fans were sick of what they considered to be an antiquated Kubiak offense when he was pushed out in Houston. And after Kubiak ranked ninth in offensive DVOA during his lone season in Baltimore, http://www.authenticblackhawksite.com/cm-punk-jersey_c-465.html his offenses ranked 25th and 28th in two seasons with the Authentic Chad Bettis Jersey Broncos. Darrell Bevell was just fired so the Seahawks could hire Schottenheimer. Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo was 27th in DVOA during his lone season as an offensive coordinator with the Browns in 2015. This just isn't a great market for offensive minds. cheap jerseys elite nhl jerseys cheap wholesale nhl jerseys nhl hockey jerseys cheap hockey jerseys cheap jerseys online cheap nfl jerseys china cheap jerseys for sale

the Jaguars intercepted Ben Roethlisberger five

times in the October meeting and Roethlisberger said he wanted another shot at the defense, this game is really about the Jaguars' offense. Bortles threw only 14 passes in the first meeting and is coming of a playoff victory over Buffalo in which he had more yards rushing (88) Marcus Williams Jersey than passing (87). That's not going to get it done against the Steelers, who are the highest-scoring team in the NFL since Week 11. The Jaguars are going to have to put up points and with the running game struggling (backs gained just 62 yards on 23 carries versus the Bills and the Jaguars averaged 75 yards per game in the last two regular-season games) it's going to fall on Bortles to make a bunch of plays in the passing game and not turn the ball over. He has been hit and miss with that all season. Steelers 20, Jaguars 14 -- Mike DiRocco, Jaguars reporter

On what makes Antonio Brown the best receiver in NFL: "He is just crafty. Of course, he's fast, he's quick, he's got good hands. But I think what makes him good is his route running, his ability to separate. He can get in and out of his breaks really well. That makes him who he http://www.officialoriolesshop.com/authentic-5-brooks-robinson-jersey.html is."
On why nobody has been able to figure out how to solve Le'Veon Bell’s style: "I think it's just a combination of guys that are around him and their O-line. I think that him and his O-line have a good continuity. The O-line does a good job of staying on blocks … and he can kind of dance back there and find the holes. There's good chemistry between them."
On how to exploit the secondary's sudden vulnerability to the big play: "They're a solid defense. Usually they pull off far and rally to the ball. I don't think they give up any more big plays than anybody else. … They're playing without [linebacker Ryan] Shazier, and that correlates to the secondary because he tells everybody what to do and makes sure even the http://www.panthersshopsnflonline.com/SUPER-BOWL-MARIO-ADDISON-JERSEY secondary knows what to do. Whenever you miss a guy like that, your stats are going to go down some."
Prediction: The Steelers are a far different team from the one blown out by Jacksonville in Week 5. Pittsburgh is averaging 31.2 points per game over the past seven weeks during which Roethlisberger is averaging 325 yards and nearly three touchdowns per game. The Steelers' defense has allowed 10 passes of 40-plus yards in the past eight games, but Bortles doesn't have such a completion in his past seven games. Pittsburgh is eager to stop Fournette, who ran wild for 181 yards in the previous matchup, while keeping the mobile Bortles in the pocket. Steelers 27, Jaguars 20 -- Jeremy Fowler, Steelers reporter
What is the key to stopping Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram? "They're good players. They're really good players. You've gotta get your hands on them, you've gotta get them to the ground. You have to be a great tackler with them guys. … You've just gotta be on your game. You'd better be a great tackler, a great cover player, all that with them."
Who would scare you more: Ingram and Kamara or Drew Brees? "Neither scares me. But if I had to choose, I'd say Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram because they can beat you in the pass and in the run. Part of that has to do with Brees, but what they do once they have the ball is all them."
Where is the Saints' defense vulnerable? "When we played them, they were a pretty solid group. They got after us a lot of different ways. From my vantage point, they're very talented. Their secondary has improved. They're just playing with confidence right now. They're playing well. I can't say anything bad about them."
Prediction: The best thing about the Saints this year is they can win with their running game, passing game or defense. And they proved it last week when the Panthers became the first opponent to really focus on shutting down the running game and forcing Drew Brees to beat them (he gladly obliged with his best performance of the year). Unfortunately, the Vikings’ defense is good enough to stop both.
They’re ranked No. 1 in both yards allowed and points allowed, No. 2 against both the pass and the run. First-team All-Pro cornerback Xavier Rhodes can help nullify the Saints’ go-to receiver Michael Authentic Kyrie Irving Jersey Thomas, while first-team All-Pro safety Harrison Smith can help defend Ingram and Kamara, and second-team All-Pro Everson Griffen can provide a pass rush. This game will have to be a showcase for Saints coach Sean Payton’s game-planning greatness just like last week was a showcase for Brees. Vikings 26, Saints 23 -- Mike Triplett, Saints reporter
On how to contain Case Keenum: "He's efficient. He's not necessarily dangerous, but he doesn't turn it over, and that's what has made him successful. He's like a poor man's version of Alex Smith. Somehow, you have to take away his athleticism because that's his best asset. You probably won't believe this, but he'd get my vote for MVP for what he's done as the third guy in there [behind Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater]. He's made himself a lot of money this season."
On how to stop Everson Griffen: "I think he's an amazing player. He actually was the top D-end I voted for [in the Pro Bowl]. I go against him twice a year. I have a lot of fun playing him. He's a great competitor. It shows on film. He not only is a very good D-end, but he plays hard, he plays to the whistle, and that's what you have to do against him. It's the only way to stop him, to not let up and keep going." nba jerseys wholesale cheap jerseys china nhl jerseys cheap nfl jerseys authentic

put extra emphasis on earning a first-round

bye so they could begin their postseason quest in the building where they lost only one Womens Trevor Siemian Jersey game this season. That’s an important asset to have going against the league’s most accurate passer with tons of playoff experience. If Brees wants to lead the Saints to the Super Bowl, he’ll have to get through the No. 1 defense in the NFL. Minnesota led the league in points and yards allowed during the regular season while holding teams to 83.6

yards rushing per game. Inside U.S. Bank Stadium, opposing teams have scored only five touchdowns and quarterbacks have been held to an average passer rating of 73.2. Keenum doesn’t have the experience Brees does in the playoffs and with this defense at his disposal, Keenum doesn’t need to put up 30 points to beat the Saints. But he needs to be aggressive early with some quick shots to Thielen and Diggs against this vastly improved New Orleans secondary. Vikings 26, Saints 20 -- Courtney Cronin, Vikings reporter
New Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey concedes that the NFL is a quarterback-driven league. In past years, the Browns have driven the position into a brick wall. This offseason, the Browns have a rare chance to address the position for both the short and long term. Part of the solution is to not give up on DeShone Kizer and continue to work with him. But other pieces need to be added, with another young quarterback via the draft and with a veteran to ensure the young player(s) are not forced on the field before they are ready.
Adding a veteran is paramount. Bill Walsh once said that if a quarterback plays too soon, the experience can be traumatic and ruin him. That Kizer fought to the end last season is to his credit.
But it does not erase the need to add a veteran.hich means the dots are in place to bring Alex Smith to the Cleveland Browns. Smith has been with the Chiefs the past five seasons. He’s won 50 games, started 76 and has never been part of a losing season. In five playoff games he’s thrown for 1,250 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions with a 96.0 passer rating.
But he’s only won in the postseason once in Kansas City, and never advanced beyond the divisional round. Smith is 33, and the clear feeling coming out of Kansas City is that the Chiefs feel he has taken them as far as he can. Last season, the Chiefs traded up to draft quarterback Patrick Mahomes 10th overall. His time seems to have arrived.
Which leads to Dorsey, who was part of the decision to bring Smith to the Chiefs in 2013. http://www.footballbillsofficialshop.com/WOMENS_YOUTH_STEPHEN_HAUSCHKA_JERSEY.html If Dorsey is looking for a perfect quarterback to step in and play efficiently for a young team, he doesn’t have to look past the guy he knows well. Some of Smith’s numbers are more than impressive -- especially in limiting turnovers, a Hue Jackson emphasis. Smith has not thrown more than eight interceptions in a season since 2010. Kizer led the NFL with 22 last season (six more than Cam Newton at second); Smith has thrown 20 in the past three seasons.
His completion percentage has been at 60 percent or better in each of the past seven seasons. Sixty percent is another Jackson benchmark. Smith is also the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for 3,000 or more yards and have 10 or fewer interceptions in five consecutive seasons. This season he threw for 4,042 yards, with 26 touchdowns and five http://www.packersauthenticofficialstore.com/WOMENS-DAVE-ROBINSON-JERSEY.html interceptions.
In short, he’d be a good fit for the Browns, where he could step in and start and play as long as he plays well. He also would be the veteran voice for the other young quarterbacks on the roster. It's easy to point to Smith simply because of Dorsey's past association with him. Dorsey may have another plan in mind, because acquiring Smith will not be as simple as Dorsey making a couple calls, clicking his heels and making it happen.
The Browns would have to sell Smith that they are the right team for him. Coming off 1-31, that's not an easy sell. In the past, several veteran quarterbacks have come to the Browns and found the challenges overwhelming. Smith might relish the challenge the way Dorsey does, and he might be attracted Authentic Tristan Thompson Jersey by the presence of Josh Gordon and the five draft picks in the first two rounds. It still would be a tough sell -- especially if his priority is a team that can win quickly.
Other teams are well aware what Smith brings. Arizona may want a new veteran quarterback to go with a new coach after the retirement of Bruce Arians and Carson Palmer. Buffalo may see itself as one veteran quarterback from advancing in the playoffs. Smith’s coordinator Matt Nagy is now the coach of the Bears, which raises possibilities there. The Jets and Redskins (if they lose Kirk Cousins) also could be teams that would at least ponder obtaining Smith. There also are always surprises.
As for Cousins, he will be another option for the Browns. But as a free agent he will be able to choose where he plays, and the situation in Cleveland would warrant gross overpayment to get him to sign. In normal times, he’d be an excellent option, but as the times in Cleveland are seriously abnormal, it’s unlikely he’d join the Browns. Keep an eye on the Broncos signing him.
Smith is under contract for 2018 -- and will earn $17 million in salary and bonuses. Trading him would save the Chiefs $10.9 million in salary-cap space. The Browns have so much cap space they could allocate $55 million this offseason and still have $55 million left.

Saints loaded up the strong side with

defenders on both second and third downs as the Vikings went with trips to the right side, and I'm not a defensive coordinator, but I can't Adrian Phillips Jersey understand why P.J. Williams is lurking in the flat three yards off the line of scrimmage on third-and-10. Williams serves no purpose on the play. If the Saints want him to prevent a quick out to set up an easier fourth-and-short, I don't get it; at that point of the game, they would happily take a fourth-and-5 with seven or eight seconds left on the clock.

You might think about the play in which Alabama won the College Football Playoff National Championship last week, where Georgia was in Cover 6 with a lone safety covering one half of the field on what ended up as the season-ending touchdown. That defensive call had an underneath cornerback who was supposed to disrupt and reroute receivers at the line of scrimmage before presumably staying responsible for the flat, but that was on second-and-26 in an untimed situation. Williams also wasn't near any receivers at the snap and didn't impact the play whatsoever. Ken Crawley was playing in an intermediate zone behind him and got caught ball-watching as Williams went for the football and subsequently took him out with his diving attempt. The Saints also had two linebackers waiting in the middle of the field at Authentic Jose Altuve Jersey the 50-yard line, another place where they should have happily allowed a completion.

It would have been nice for the Saints to have had a chance before the play to call timeout, rest their pass-rushers and establish what they wanted to do on defense heading into the most important defensive snap of the game up to that point. They were able to call a timeout before the previous play but couldn't repeat the move because Payton burned their first two timeouts with desperate challenge attempts in the fourth quarter. The Vikings kept all of their timeouts and were able to use them on defense to get the ball back after the Saints failed on third-and-1, which set up Wil Lutz's field goal and the subsequent drive from the Vikings.
The fourth quarter gave Vikings fans a moment they'll never forget while simultaneously taking years off their lives. It's also a place they don't want to go while trailing and needing Keenum to throw them back into the game. Keenum had one fourth-quarter comeback this season, and that came when Alonzo Mourning Jersey he threw a touchdown pass on the opening play of the fourth quarter to put the Vikings up 14-9 on the Falcons. His three game-winning drives included that Falcons drive and a short field http://www.cardinalsnflofficialonlineshop.com/Aq-Shipley-Jersey after a Mitchell Trubisky interception on which Keenum threw one pass before a game-winning field goal.
Just 9.4 percent of Keenum's passes this season came with the Vikings trailing in the fourth quarter, the second-lowest rate in the league and just narrowly ahead of Jared Goff, who also struggled while trying to lead the Rams back last week. Keenum posted the league's second-best Total QBR this season, but on his 45 dropbacks when trailing in Rougned Odor Jersey the fourth quarter this season, his QBR fell from 69.6 to 34.5, which was 23rd in the league. Before 2017, his 29.7 QBR in those situations was 68th among 71 passers.
One of the reasons Keenum has been able to enjoy a breakout season in 2017 has been that the Vikings haven't needed him to throw them back into games. When the Vikings needed Keenum on Sunday, it took a prayer off his back foot and a play Vikings fans are literally calling a miracle to push Minnesota into the NFC Championship Game. You would forgive the Vikings for wanting to keep things out of the spiritual realm in Philadelphia next Sunday.
As much as Bortles has been in positive situations this year by virtue of his defense, the Jaguars needed the 35 points their offense scored to win on Sunday. Jacksonville forced another defensive touchdown -- something it has done three times in two games against the Steelers this season when no other team has scored one in more http://www.authenticpittsburghpenguins.com/authentic-brian-dumoulin-jersey than four seasons -- and came up with a pair of fourth-and-short http://www.miamidolphinsauthorizedstore.com/kenny-stills-jersey-elite stops, but the Steelers came up with big play after big play to stay in the game. They converted fourth-and-11 for a touchdown before halftime. Later, Le'Veon Bell scored on a third-and-9 TD toss. Antonio Brown hauled in a 43-yard score on fourth-and-5. Three third-down conversions, including two third-and-10s, set up a Roethlisberger lateral to Bell for another score. Those weren't enough because the Jaguars' offense kept answering the bell.
Of course, Bortles has been surprising us all season. It looked like Bortles was on his way out after the Jags benched him during the preseason, only to hand the ball back after Chad Henne failed to impress. He alternated great games with abysmal performances the next week at times, throwing four touchdowns against a great Ravens pass defense in London before producing 140 passing yards in a loss to the Jets. Bortles followed the best three-game stretch of his career with one of his worst stretches as a pro. He wasn't even consistent from quarter to quarter on Sunday and still came up with big plays when Jacksonville needed them most.
How he earned a top rating: Foster fell in the draft because of questions about his character and injury history. As a rookie, none of that mattered. He finished as the No. 4 linebacker in the league, according to PFF, and had 72 tackles despite missing six games. Most of his jump came in http://www.officialraysshop.com/authentic-53-alex-cobb-jersey.html the last half of the season, as he had a 78 rating in Week 9 and finished at 86. His block-shedding was a big jump, as he started the year as a 77 and finished at an 87. His play recognition also improved from 71 to 84.
How he earned a top rating: When healthy, Garrett was as advertised coming into the league. It’s why his rating didn’t take that big of a jump -- he was in a good spot at launch. He missed five games because of injury and finished with a respectable 31 tackles, seven sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, and he saw his biggest gains in the last three weeks, when his real-life play began to pick up too. His play recognition improved from 70 to 76, which helped the overall rating bump. He didn't have the big leap others did in part because of his start and in part because of his play, for which PFF rated him the No. 12 edge rusher. hockey jerseys cheap mlb jerseys china nhl jerseys wholesale nfl jerseys nike discount jerseys basketball jerseys for sale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys wholesale

McCutchen, but are still far from contention

The Andrew McCutchen era in Pittsburgh is over with the Bucs trading their icon and leader to San Francisco as Pirates GM Neal Huntington continues to try to recapture some value for veterans before they leave as free agents.

McCutchen is not the solution to the Giants' center-field hole. He hasn't been even an average defensive center fielder for a few years now, but as it turns out, the Giants also have a sizable hole in left, where McCutchen should be at least average with the glove. San Francisco got bupkis from left field in 2017, with a .232/.292/.338 aggregate line from their left fielders, well below replacement level for the position, so Cutch won't have a high bar to clear with the bat to be an upgrade and could easily give the Giants 3-4 more wins just by repeating what he did in 2017.
Within minutes after former MVP Andrew McCutchen received the phone call late Monday afternoon that he was no longer a member of the Pirates, reports emerged that Pittsburgh has a multiyear agreement in place with talented closer Felipe Rivero. The sequence of events had all the look of a stage-managed leak, as if somebody within the Pirates organization was trying to distract fans from the news that McCutchen, a player once viewed as his generation’s Roberto Clemente, was being shipped out of the city.
This is like trying to stop an avalanche with a snow shovel, and predictably, the Pirates are buried under layers of http://www.officialraptorstore.com/Pascal_Siakam_Jersey criticism today. olumnists and customers reject the premise that trading the team’s most accomplished player, McCutchen, and best pitcher, Gerrit Cole, shifts the Pirates into a better place, which was the front office explanation for the moves.
“We’re going to show up to win every single night that we play in 2018, and we’re looking to defy what the experts will say the Pittsburgh Pirates will do moving into 2018,” team president Frank Coonelly told reporters on Monday. he enormous collective anger in Pittsburgh on Tuesday speaks to the redemptive value of a World Series championship, and how much perception can be altered by a handful of October games.
The Kansas City Royals climbed out of their competitive abyss at roughly the same time the Pirates did in recent years, executing a similar strategy. Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas and others were drafted and developed, just as McCutchen and Cole Dustin McGowan Womens Jersey were. But through impossible playoff comebacks in 2014 and 2015 -- twice they were four runs down in the eighth inning of elimination games -- the Royals reached the World Series in 2014 and won it in 2015. The Kansas City front office, like that of the Pirates, has made difficult choices inherent for a team inhabiting a small market, and the reaction has been tempered. Fans filled Kauffman Stadium for the last wistful days of Hosmer and Moustakas together. he Pirates of 2013-2015 may have been just as good as those Royals teams, and maybe better, with one big difference. hey didn’t get the parade.
Rather, the baseball gods toyed with them. Pittsburgh shares the same division as the powerhouse Cardinals and Cubs, and they reached the playoffs as a wild-card entrant in three straight seasons. After advancing to the Division Series in 2013 -- and losing -- the Pirates had the misfortune of crashing into the Giants’ Madison Bumgarner in the 2014 wild card game, at the outset of the greatest Authentic Matt Beleskey Jersey October pitching performance in baseball history, and then in 2015, they faced Jake Arrieta, who was still in the midst of the best second half for any pitcher ever. The Pirates averaged 93 wins a year over three years, and in the eyes of many evaluators, they may have been the NL’s best team at the end of the regular season in 2014 and 2015, steeped in pitching and defense, a cutting-edge organization that was among the forerunners in analytics.
But they didn’t get the parade, and a parade would have changed everything about the perception of what has happened since then. The diminishment of the team, as McCutchen and others became more expensive and GM Neal Huntington worked to operate within the resource limits of the Pirates’ budget. The increasingly tense relationship between the Pirates and McCutchen, through McCutchen’s struggles of 2016 and the team’s growing reticence about investing big dollars in an aging star, a problematic equation for a small-market team. McCutchen, deeply respected and reflexively respectful, never openly complained, but he saw http://www.officialauthenticpackersstore.com/Nike-Ricky-Jeanfrancois-Jersey.html the divorce coming, and so did the Pirates, and the whole thing was difficult.
The logic behind the decisions to trade McCutchen and Cole now is sound, and if the Pirates also deal infielder Josh Harrison, as other teams expect, that makes sense. Cole is eligible to be a free agent after 2019 and as a client of agent Scott Boras, he almost certainly will test free agency, so the Pirates are smart to get trade return for him now, before his market value fell Authentic Michael Jordan Jersey precipitously. McCutchen is 31 and coming off a good bounce-back season, and there was zero chance he and the Pirates could have found middle ground on a contract extension.
Kyle Crick is the most experienced player acquired in the McCutchen deal, a 25-year-old reliever dealt by a Giants organization that needs pitching. The Pirates also got a Class A outfielder, Bryan Reynolds, ranked by Baseball America as the No. 5 prospect from what is regarded as one of MLB’s worst farm systems. Similarly, some rival evaluators view the return Pittsburgh got from Houston for Cole as mediocre, a collection of decent young players who probably can’t significantly boost the Pirates’ playoff chances but might be serviceable big leaguers immediately.
he Pirates have not taken the path that an increasing number of clubs have chosen, in stripping the payroll completely and tanking. With Cole and McCutchen on the roster, Pittsburgh won 74 games last season, and with a blossoming group of young starting pitchers led by Jameson Taillon, it’s possible the Pirates will win more in 2018.
But today, none of that or the casting of the Rivero extension as big news http://www.officialsstlouisblues.com/Adidas-Joel-Edmundson-Jersey will mitigate Pittsburgh’s furor over the trade of an adopted son like McCutchen, a former MVP who touched the community with his play, his character and his grace.
If there had been a championship parade, he would have been stationed in the first float, as the player everyone would have wanted to see, as the player targeted for the most confetti.

the worst farm system in baseball, really?

Just because it's baseball's offseason doesn't mean we don't look at standings. In the absence of actual games creating literal standings, we look Womens Jake Matthews Jersey at proxy standings, subjective standings, projected standings -- we look at any indicator of our club's relative strength or relative weakness far off in the future.

So, the San Francisco Giants traded for Andrew McCutchen, and beyond the question of whether McCutchen is fun to watch and cheer for (he is) sits the question of what it means for his new team's projections, for its payroll and long-term salary obligations, for its bid to stay under the luxury tax and, perhaps most important to the modern fan, what it means for the farm system.
Baseball roster-building largely follows the law of conservation of energy: Wins aren't often created out of nothing but are transformed from one form to another -- most commonly from the future to the present, or vice versa. By acquiring Evan Longoria and McCutchen, and by getting some salary relief from both the Rays and the Pirates, the Giants had to trade away young talent. That includes Christian Arroyo (to the Rays) and Bryan Reynolds (to Pittsburgh), two of the top players in an already thin system. The Giants' current crop of farmhands might not be the weakest in baseball, but it is clearly weaker now than it was three months ago, and it's weaker by far than it would have been had the Giants decided, in the middle of a 98-loss 2017 season, to aggressively empty their major league roster and Authentic Johnny Bucyk Jersey get young. This is why a Giants fan can simultaneously acknowledge the fun of McCutchen, hope for a playoff bid in 2018 and also worryingly invoke the 2013 Phillies.
But what exactly does a weak system mean for the standings? To answer that, we built a massive spreadsheet, with organizational talent rankings from 1999 through 2010 -- using Baseball America through 2008, Keith Law for 2009 and 2010 -- and each team's actual major league performance for the eight seasons that followed each ranking. These rankings consider only the players who still qualify as prospects, who haven't exhausted their rookie eligibility. And here's what we found:
Wait! At the risk of ignoring the obviousness of the question, let's acknowledge that, of course, what we found is that teams with great farm systems do better in the future than teams with terrible farm systems. That's not really a spoiler, because what world would we live in where it was otherwise? But we can get specific about how much better, and in what time frame.Year 0, the year before the rankings come out
We're going to focus on only two types of teams here: teams that ranked first, second or third in a given year's organizational rankings and teams that ranked 28th, 29th or 30th, as the Giants did in Keith Law's org rankings that came out today (they narrowly dodged rock bottom, finishing 29th overall, between the Marlins and Mariners).
It doesn't really matter how teams did in the seasons before the rankings -- we want to know how they'll do in the future -- but it turns out that in the dozen of years we've analyzed these rankings, the teams with the great farm systems also happened to start out better at the major league level (averaging almost 82 wins the year prior) than the teams with the terrible farm systems (averaging just under 79). You can speculate why this would be, and I'd speculate it's just noise from a small sample, but it's a baseline for what comes next.
Teams with great farm systems win, on average, 84 games in the seasons of the rankings. This is an improvement. One might speculate that the farm is starting to pay dividends, either with rookies who are beginning to contribute or by providing trade chips to acquire veterans. Or else it's still just noise.
Teams with terrible farm systems win, on average, 82 games, and this is also an improvement. This also has a plausible explanation: A team that is old and has little youth coming up might go all-in on one final push with an aging core. Like the Giants! Yes, it's plausible teams with http://www.authenticmlbrangersstore.com/Authentic-Jurickson-Profar-Jersey great farm systems and teams with terrible farm systems would both have incentives to go for it the next season. And I guess they do.
The teams with the great farm systems 12 months earlier have now, apparently, begun to really incorporate that talent; or, perhaps recognizing a competitive window opening with the arrival of said talent, they have invested more money in the major league roster. This is important: None of these records happen in a vacuum. Good prospects might add a couple of extra wins. Those couple of extra wins might push a team into a pennant race and encourage the front office to bump payroll and sign veterans who also add a couple Jason Hammel Youth jersey of extra wins. Regardless, the teams with the good farm systems are adding a lot of wins! They win, on average, 85 games in Year 2, another improvement.
And they begin to pull away from the teams with bad farm systems, who win only 80 games, falling back two wins from http://www.stlouisbluesofficialonline.com/Adidas-Alexander-Steen-Jersey the previous season.

riday night is hockey night in Kent

Washington, an industrial town located 19 miles south of Seattle. It's Pub Night at the ShoWare Center -- where fans can snag 10 tickets, 10 beers and 10 hats for $220 -- but most people at the Seattle Thunderbirds' WHL game against Kelowna are here for the promise of seeing the next big thing.

The Thunderbirds have a good track record. Last year center Mathew Barzal was skating circles around opponents here; now he's a leading Calder Trophy candidate for the New York Islanders. At least two fans at the ShoWare Center are sporting Barzal's No. 13 Islanders jersey. In fact, the concourse is littered with jerseys of other WHL alumni -- Ken Daneyko, Tyler Johnson, Shea Theodore, Brooks Laich, Duncan Keith -- plus a smattering of random allegiances: Nathan MacKinnon, Kris Letang, Jack Eichel.
"One day," says Chris Simmons, a consultant and Seattle resident who is at the game with his two sons. "We'll have our own pro guys to be proud of, and we'll represent. That's the hope, at least."
That hope finally feels tangible. At December's NHL Board of Governors meetings, commissioner Gary Bettman authorized an ownership group to conduct a season-ticket drive in Seattle, invited the city to apply for expansion and set the fee at $650 million. It was a stunning development, if only for its expediency. (Three years earlier, at a previous Board of Governors meeting, Bettman only invited Las Vegas to run a season-ticket drive; the other steps came later.) Sources say Seattle's ticket drive will begin in February. The goal is for a new franchise to begin play in 2020-21.
But you can forgive a fan like Simmons for exercising caution. Despite Seattle's rich hockey history -- the Pacific Coast Hockey Association's Seattle Metropolitans were the first U.S. team to win the Stanley Cup, in 1917, when they dispatched the defending champions, the National Hockey Association's Montreal Canadiens -- the NHL has only flirted with the city for decades.Ownership groups surfaced, then disappeared. Arena bids sprouted, but never blossomed. The NHL spurned other logical favorites, such as Quebec City, and added Las Vegas while Seattle still waited at the altar. In all of this time, that this city managed not to get a team?" says Jeff Obermeyer, who authored the book "Hockey in Seattle." "It doesn't make much sense."
The area actually supports two junior teams within an hour drive of each other. The Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips play just 30 miles north of Seattle. When the Silvertips and Thunderbirds play at the same time, as many as 12,000 people are attending hockey games in the area at once -- and that's simply to watch juniors.
The city has already shown it can be fervent. The NFL's Seahawks' "12th man" generates buzz, but many Seattleites point to the MLS Sounders as a model the NHL team should follow. Although the franchise is only 10 years old, the Sounders led the MLS in attendance for their first eight seasons, and finished second behind only Atlanta in 2017, while averaging 43,666 per game (the next closest team was Toronto, which averaged 27,647). They consistently sell out CenturyLink Field. The Sounders built their following from the ground up. They host college football-style rallies downtown that conclude with a well-attended march to the match.
But, of course, if you're talking about professional sports in Seattle, the sting of the SuperSonics' absence lingers. The NBA team was plucked from Seattle and transported to Oklahoma City in 2008, in large part because its owners could not secure public funding for Womens Yoenis Cespedes Jersey a new arena. KeyArena was outdated by modern sports' standards. OVG's plan includes creating 2,200 club seats for hockey, and more for basketball, which certainly would be attractive in a city that boasts eight Fortune 500 companies. Amazon's campus is nestled against the arena.
It's especially a shame that the Sonics left just as Seattle was having its moment. A tech boom is heralding record growth. From April 2015 to 2016, for example, Seattle and its surrounding counties added 86,320 new residents, according to a report from The Puget Sound Regional Council.
Paul Kim was born in Seoul, http://www.officialmapleleafsonline.com/Dave_Keon_Jersey South Korea. He had Authentic Brian Urlacher Jersey asthma as a child, so his mother signed him up for hockey because she wanted him to be active, and the confines of a rink would protect him from the pollen and http://www.authenticredsox.com/Authentic-Xander-Bogaerts-Jersey allergens outside. Once he stepped on the ice, Kim was hooked. When he was 10, Kim's family moved to Seattle, and his obsession intensified.
He went on to study economics at the University of Washington but in his free time became fascinated by the city's hockey history. He spent hours in the library researching the Seattle Metropolitans. That's when he realized someone held the trademark for the Seattle Metropolitans name, but wasn't using it, and by law, he could challenge for the name.
Last week, DetroitHockey.net reported that someone who apparently works for OVG registered 38 website domains with 13 possible team names: Cougars, Eagles, Emeralds, Evergreens, Firebirds, Kraken, Rainiers, Renegades, Sea Lions, Seals, Sockeyes, Totems and Whales. The team's potential name has become one of the hottest topics in town, igniting a mad dash for rights.
Pamela Bowerman, whose pen name is Jami Davenport, filed an application with the U.S Patent and Trademark Office on Dec. 21 to own the Seattle Sockeyes. That's the name of a fictional team in her romance novels, which include "Penalty Play," "Shot on Goal" and "Crashing the Net." Additionally, a Microsoft attorney is trying to trademark the "Seattle Steelheads."

Best QBs, NFL draft risers, more from Day 1 at Senior Bowl

Practices are underway at the 2018 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, where quarterbacks Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield are the main attraction on rosters full of NFL draft talent. Allen and the rest of the top senior NFL draft prospects were poked, prodded, measured and weighed Tuesday morning, but Mayfield's arrival was delayed, and he got to Mobile in time for the North team practice in the afternoon.

Now that both teams have practiced, our team of NFL draft experts -- Todd McShay, Matt Bowen and Steve Muench -- are breaking down how the best prospects fared, which under-the-radar prospects are rising, and more. Here's their recap of Day 1.

Sando: Knowing the 49ers were able to land Jimmy Garoppolo from New England for a second-round choice made it easier -- more defensible, at least -- to bypass a quarterback in this re-draft. It's not just me saying they might be able to find a QB another way. We all know they did exactly that, even though they could not have known how things would shake out when they traded back from the second overall spot on Day 1 of the 2017 draft.
Garrett was one of the most talented players in the class. Selecting him did not require much justification. He was there; I took him. Alvin Kamara and Marshon Lattimore Darron Lee Authentic Jersey were the other players from the draft who stood out in my mind as alternatives. The 49ers already have a good running back, and they're running a system that has succeeded in the past with quite a few backs with varied pedigrees. Lattimore's injury history was still a slight concern in my mind, even though he played more games than Garrett did this past season.
Yates: Quarterback play is the function of player ability, coaching and circumstances. Immediate success is not entirely uncommon -- Dak Prescott was an MVP candidate as a rookie in 2016 -- but it should also not be the barometer to measure a quarterback after just one season in the NFL.
After all, Chicago drafted Trubisky with the intention of redshirting him, a plan that went awry because of the performance of Mike Glennon.
When reviewing Trubisky's rookie campaign, particularly when bypassing other players such Josh Reddick Womens Jersey as Lattimore http://www.officialpelicansstore.com/Jrue_Holiday_Jersey with this pick, it's important to analyze beyond what the numbers -- 2,193 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions with a 59.4 percent completion percentage -- tell us about him. Trubisky played within an offense whose top wide receiver for much of his time as the starter was either Dontrelle Inman, cast off by the Chargers for a late conditional draft pick, or Jonas Brodin Womens Jersey Kendall Wright, who signed a one-year deal after not fully meeting expectations in Tennessee.
When the Bears hired Matt Nagy as their new head coach this offseason, a prevailing narrative was that the team aspires to recreate a Sean McVay-Jared Goff dynamic with Nagy and Trubisky. That isn't a certainty to happen given how expediently McVay and Goff found success, but if the Bears passed on Trubisky in this spot, the team would have had -- and still have -- a massive quarterback quandary. anking on player development via a strong coaching staff that would be in place for Trubisky's second year plus the undeniable talent he brings to the table, he remains the pick at No. 3 overall.
Schatz: After a 10-6 playoff season, I'm sure the Jaguars still feel good about their selection of Leonard Fournette. But I'm a strong believer that you don't take a running back this high in the draft -- especially one who won't even average 4 yards per carry as a rookie. Kamara was the best rookie running back, but he doesn't really fit the power style the Jaguars want from their lead back, so he wouldn't make sense here either.
The Jaguars are so imbalanced that it seems absurd to suggest they needed a http://www.nflravensofficialonline.com/YOUTH+BRENT+URBAN+JERSEY defensive player with the No. 4 pick. Lattimore or Tre'Davious White would be fantastic additions to most teams, but Jacksonville already has two outstanding outside corners (Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye) and Nolan Ryan Authentic Jersey a reasonable nickelback (Aaron Colvin).
No, the Jaguars need to be honest with themselves about their need at the most important position in the game: quarterback. Yes, Blake Bortles ranked 12th in ESPN's Total QBR metric this season, but that was his best career finish by far, and the positive performance was grouped into a handful of games. Overall, Bortles was the least consistent quarterback in the league.
He has four years of experience now. It's probably never going to get better than this. The Jaguars need to find a quarterback who can carry the team even on days the defense doesn't have a stellar performance. And a team that wants to build on defense and running the ball needs a quarterback with a big arm who can take advantage of the play-action opportunities deep. So, say hello to http://www.buffalosabresofficialonline.com/Adidas-Josh-Gorges-Jersey Mahomes, who in our re-draft world is now the heir apparent to Bortles in Jacksonville instead of Alex Smith in Kansas City. Mahomes was the highest-rated quarterback last year in Football Outsiders' QBASE projections, and the success of Goff and Case Keenum in 2017 means less reticence about drafting a quarterback out of an Air http://www.officialbuckstore.com/John_Henson_Jersey Raid college system. wholesale jerseys wholesale nfl jerseys cheap nfl jerseys nike cheap nfl jerseys usa nba jerseys wholesale wholesale nba jerseys nike nfl jerseys size chart wholesale jerseys free shipping

arrival does diminish potential opportunities for

other Cubs who could matter on the lower fantasy value tiers: Mike Montgomery is now a virtual lock for the bullpen and might remain in that role all season, making him NL-only end-game material, and Eddie Butler, who is out of options, will probably have to settle for the same, scratching him from draft lists even in that format. In addition, prospect Adbert Alzolay is now much less likely to breeze his way from Kevin Klein Youth jersey Double-A to the majors at any point in the season, as the Cubs can be more patient with him in the minors.

Darvish's gain is also the other big-name free-agent starters' loss, as the Cubs were also linked to Jake Arrieta and Alex Cobb, both of whom are now significantly less likely -- and I'd argue long shots at best -- to also sign with them. Both pitchers, as well as fellow free agent Lance Lynn, have skill sets that are more dependent upon their circumstances than an average pitcher's would, so scratching a neutral-to-slightly-pitching-friendly landing spot off their lists is a negative (especially this late in the game).
The Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays have all been connected to at least one of the three in recent Kevin Pillar Youth jersey weeks, and all of them play in much less pitching-friendly ballparks. With the increasing likelihood that Arrieta, Cobb and Lynn will either end up in one of those cites and/or have difficulty finding a team at all before March, all of them are in danger of slipping gradually down the rankings as the days pass.
The agreement and details of the deal were first reported Saturday by The Athletic. Darvish had been one of the most coveted pitchers in this year's free-agent market and also reportedly received a substantial offer last month from Chicago's division rival, the Milwaukee Brewers. The Japanese right-hander also had been linked to the Rangers, Dodgers, Yankees, Twins and Astros this offseason. According to ESPN Stats & Information, it is the fourth free agent contract in excess of $100 million to be given by the Cubs, which ranks second all-time behind the Yankees (6).
The Cubs have reached the NL Championship Series in each of the last three years. In 2016, they won their first World Series crown since 1908. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Darvish has a 2.42 ERA in eight career starts against the National League Central, including the postseason. He has never allowed more than three earned runs against an NL Central opponent. Darvish was acquired by the Dodgers from Texas for three prospects just before last year's trade deadline, supposedly the final piece needed to return a championship to baseball's biggest-spending team.
But the 6-foot-5 Darvish only managed four outs in losing Game 7 to the Astros, becoming the second pitcher in World Series history with less than two innings pitched in two starts. In 31 combined starts last season, he was 10-12 with a 3.86 ERA. Darvish signed with Texas before the 2012 season and missed all of 2015 after elbow surgery. He has a career record of 56-42 with a 3.42 ERA and 1,021 strikeouts.
CHICAGO -- After a winter makeover on the mound -- which still might see more changes -- the Chicago Cubs enter spring training with a very familiar group at the plate. In fact, when it comes to position players, there is not one new face outside of a backup catcher (Chris Gimenez) who might or might not make the team.
The Cubs lost Jon Jay to free agency but will go to battle this season with every other hitter who helped them to a third consecutive playoff berth last year. That might come as a surprise, as the team expected a potential trade for a pitcher this offseason, but phone calls with opposing front James Hurst Womens Jersey offices never led to anything. Kyle Schwarber's missionGo inside a workout with Kyle Schwarber as the Cubs slugger looks to transform his body and put a rough 2017 behind him.
Jesse Rogers » That part should not come as a
surprise, considering what other teams are looking for and how they value certain Cubs hitters. Multiple executives indicated throughout the offseason that if they were calling Chicago, they weren’t looking to "buy high" on Kyle Schwarber or Ian Happ, for example. Meanwhile, the Cubs undoubtedly view both those players in higher regard. They know them. They know their drive. Even Schwarber’s obvious body transformation wasn’t enough to sway a rival executive to give up an elite pitcher. Shortstop Addison Russell was dangled as well, according to league sources, but the match never fit there, either. So the core group gets another chance to do something special.
“I think 2018 is the year where our guys are going to take a big step forward,” general manager Jed Hoyer said last week on his way to Mesa, Arizona, for spring training. “Most of our guys are in their mid-20s, entering their prime years. I think this group is really going to come together.” More than ever, the Cubs will need to rely on their offense, as their lack of pitching http://www.billsfootballofficialprostore.com/Authentic-Ej-Gaines-Jersey depth is starting to catch up with them. They drafted hitters high, which means at some point those players need to be the strength of the team as the front office figures http://www.sanjosesharksofficialonline.com/Adidas-Joe-Thornton-Jersey out how to revamp the staff. Six free-agent pitchers should help, but they also bring question marks.
On the other hand, there should be no questions about Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo & Co. But there are once you get to the "& Co." Sure, a healthy Willson Contreras has become someone to count on, but what about three other core guys who have shown inconsistent tendencies? This trio will decide if the Cubs' offense becomes a dangerous beast or continues to show its warts.

Kam Chancellor remains with Seahawks as salary becomes fully guaranteed

Friday brought a bit of clarity to Kam Chancellor's immediate future with the Seattle Seahawks. While it's still uncertain if a neck injury suffered last season will allow the Pro Bowl strong safety to ever play football again, it has been expected that he will remain with the team for the time being as his medical situation is sorted out. That seems even more certain now that Chancellor's entire $6.8 million base salary for 2018 is fully guaranteed.

The three-year, $36 million extension Chancellor signed last summer called for his '18 salary to become fully guaranteed if he were to remain on Seattle's Kevan Miller Youth jersey roster through Friday, which was the fifth day of the new Nick Van Exel Jersey league year waiver period. That money was guaranteed for injury only at the time of signing. That deadline had led to some speculation that the Seahawks might cut Chancellor, but that wasn't much of an option.

NFL rules make it difficult to cut injured players. It could have led to a grievance, which is a can of worms the Seahawks would surely not want to http://www.authenticstlouiscardinals.com/Carlos-Martinez-Jersey open given Chancellor's standing as one of the most revered members of the organization. Aside from potentially getting messy, cutting Chancellor would have meant his $9.6 million cap hit for 2018 skyrocketing to $19.5 million as future cap charges would be moved up. That's an unwieldy figure for any team let alone one without much cap space like Seattle.
The two sides could have, in theory, reached a settlement, but as former NFL agent Joel Corry has pointed out, Chancellor would have little financial incentive to settle with a total of $12 million in injury guarantees over the next two seasons. Of his $10 million base salary for 2019, $5.2 million is guaranteed for injury. As for the possibility of Chancellor retiring any time soon, that remains unlikely as well. By doing so, he would forfeit $12 million in injury guarantees over the next http://www.officialauthenticbroncosshop.com/WOMENS-DEREK-WOLFE-JERSEY.html two seasons. Technically, he could also be on the hook for repaying $7.5 million in remaining signing bonus proration.
All of that has led to the belief that he would remain with the Seahawks, even with his football future in doubt. Unless Chancellor makes a turn and http://www.nfl49ersofficialauthentics.com/C-J-Beathard-Jersey is able to pass a physical some time later this offseason -- recall coach Pete Carroll saying at season's end that he and Cliff Avril are going to "have a hard time playing football again" -- one possibility is that he begins next season on the physically unable to perform list.
Chancellor, who turns 30 in April, spent part of this week modeling clothes at the Grungy Gentleman Runway Show as part of Fashion Week in New York. That industry has been an interest of his and one that Chancellor may pursue after football. But the passing of Friday's roster deadline is another sign that his post-football life isn't about to begin just yet. "He's doing phenomenal," cornerback Richard Sherman said Thursday night from an awards show in Seattle. "He and his wife are traveling around. They went to Italy. I think they're in New York at some fashion show. But he's in great spirits. He's healing up. Everything is testing and things like that. He has to go back and get an MRI every couple months, so there's not much he can do. It's not like there's any rehab you can do to heal it."
In addition to Chancellor, three other Seahawks had either a portion of their 2018 base salary or the full amount become fully guaranteed on Friday. They are: quarterback Russell Wilson ($4.9 million of $15.5 million), wide receiver Doug Baldwin ($4.5 million of $8.25 million) and center Justin Britt (all $2.75 million). Tucker is the most accurate kicker in NFL history. He became the fastest pure kicker in NFL history to reach 800 career points, doing so in his 95th regular-season game.
But there should be some added respect for the Baltimore Ravens kicker after Sunday's Super Bowl, which featured two missed extra points. Eagles kicker Jake Elliott missed wide right on a point-after attempt in the first quarter, and the Patriots' Stephen Gostkowski was wide left on an extra point in the second quarter.
Tucker, meanwhile, is in a class by himself on point-after kicks. The six-year veteran is the only kicker in NFL history to make every extra-point attempt in his career (minimum 200 tries), Albert Pujols Jersey according to ESPN Stats & Information. Tucker has made all 205 extra points in the regular season (plus all 23 in the postseason), but he has work to do to set some league marks. The record for consecutive extra points made to begin a career is 321 by Rian Lindell from 2000-10, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Tucker’s point-after streak is tied for the sixth-longest streak to begin a career.
The record for most consecutive extra points is held by Gostkowski, who made 478 in a row from 2006-16. Tucker, who averages 34 extra points per season, would need to be perfect for another eight years to break that mark.Extra points became more of a challenge starting in 2015, when the NFL first moved point-after attempts from the 2-yard line to the 15. So, instead of of a 19-yard kick, extra points became a 32-yard attempt.
Tucker http://www.officialcavaliershop.com/authentic-32-jeff-green-jersey.html wasn't happy about the change when it occurred three years ago. “I think the idea is to add excitement to every single play," Tucker told the Ravens' website in 2015, "but really what it does is make every kicker’s job a little Preston Smith Youth jersey bit harder." While others have had trouble making the adjustment, Tucker has remained perfect. wholesale nfl jerseys cheap mlb baseball jerseys cheap jerseys 90 wholesale jerseys cheap wholesale jerseys nfl discount jerseys nfl jerseys paypal nike nfl jerseys

Hope Solo interview

So, Hope Solo is running for president of the US Soccer Federation. It turns out the record-breaking goalkeeper is also trying to solve a mystery. When she is asked why the federation’s relationship with Soccer United Marketing (SUM) – a for-profit company owned by Major League Soccer that includes MLS commissioner Don Garber as its CEO and Solo’s rival candidate Kathy Carter as its president – is the subject of debate within football circles the World Cup winner is quick to pounce.

“We have to get to the bottom of it,” Solo tells the Guardian in a rare interview from her home in North Carolina. “I have my own opinions about it ... I http://www.officialphiladelphiaflyers.com/Adidas-Dale-Weise-Jersey think it has to do with money.”

So here we are. While the soccer chatterati in at least 32 other countries is discussing the upcoming World Cup, the talk in the US is about a vote this Saturday to elect a new president of US soccer’s governing body. Normally, most people couldn’t care less. But the US men’s failure to qualify for Russia triggered a blame game http://www.footballbengalsofficialshop.com/Nike-Randy-Bullock-Jersey.html and an election campaign that outgoing president Sunil Gulati has described on more than one occasion as “disgusting”.
Last October’s defeat against Trinidad and Tobago is no longer about an Omar Gonzalez own goal. It’s about youth development, the Latino community, top-down governance, the possible demise of MLS side Columbus Crew, and the role of SUM.
SUM is a marketing, media, and sponsorship Womens Travis Benjamin Jersey company created by the owners of MLS in 2002. As crazy http://www.49ersofficialauthenticshop.com/57-eli-harold-super-bowl-jersey.html as it sounds Dave Keon Authentic Jersey now, back then no US media company was interested in acquiring broadcast rights to that year’s World Cup (or for the 2006 tournament). SUM stepped up and years later is a major commercial partner of US Soccer, among others. Garber says the company will have injected $300m into the USSF, between 2002 and 2022, when its current agreement expires.
SUM is a cash cow for soccer in the US. Here’s where it gets tricky. The company’s board members are MLS owners. Its offices are within MLS offices. Its online presence is one page on the MLS website with email addresses on how Ondrej Pavelec Jersey to advertise or partner with “passionate sports fans” and “the #1 soccer network in North America”.
Solo knows all that. She knows a lot about money in US Soccer. She is an advocate for payment parity between the men’s and women’s national teams and is among a group http://www.shopcanadahockeyjersey.com/authentic+duncan+keith+jersey.html of players that filed a wage discrimination complaint against the federation. She says her interest in SUM was piqued over the use of her image in a sponsored promotional video for which she didn’t receive payment.
“I didn’t see a dime of it,” Solo claims. “I started to ask questions and told them I didn’t approve the video to go public before the [2016] Olympics. I started to get emails back that were complete attorney jargon basically saying ‘Hope, this is above your pay grade’. Basically, shut your mouth and play soccer. That is when I knew I was barking up a tree they didn’t want me to bark up. Pretty soon after that is when [USSF] Eric Kendricks Womens Jersey fired me for – quote unquote – saying the word ‘coward’.”
Solo is one of eight candidates vying for the USSF top job, an unpaid position. The new president will be elected by stakeholders that include a mish-mash of state federations, representatives of professional and amateur players, and even fans. In a process so complicated, some candidates say they aren’t yet sure who all the voting delegates actually are.
Gulati, unopposed for 12 years, declined to run in 2018. In a heated campaign, the field is roughly divided into two camps: those representing a status quo and those calling for change. Any type of change. Wait. Where have we heard this story before?
