The Panthers have added another former AAF player to their roster." He signed as a UDFA with the Chicago Bears and spent the 2017 season on their practice squad before joining the Birmingham Iron of the AAF in 2019. Greene has experience playing both tight end and offensive tackle from his time with the Crimson Tide. This is most likely nothing more than a depth move for the Panthers to get a look at Greene during their offseason workouts, but you never know — he could find himself battling for a roster spot during training camp depending on how much depth the Panthers have on their offensive line later this summer. Two others have done it. Christian McCaffrey hopes to be the third.“I got a lot of goals that I keep to myself Will Grier Jersey , but one goal is definitely the 1K/1K club,” the Panthers running back recently told ESPN.com. “I almost did it last year and it was a bummer not getting it. Two guys have done it — Marshall Faulk and Roger Craig — and there’s a race to be the third. There’s a lot of backs in the league who can get there.”McCaffrey had more than 1 https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/Greg-Little-Jersey ,000 yards rushing in 2019, but only 867 receiving (on 107 catches). Former 49ers running back Roger Craig did in 1995; Hall of Fame Rams running back Marshall Faulk accomplished it in 1999.Others who could pull it off include Giants running back Saquon Barkley Brian Burns Jersey , Saints running back Alvin Kamara, Jets running back Le'Veon Bell Ryan Kalil Color Rush Jersey , and Cardinals running back David Johnson.McCaffrey may have the best chance to pull it off, and that kind of performance could push the Panthers back to the postseason.
During last year’s 8-7-1 season Jourdan Lewis Color Rush Jersey , the Vikings lost prime-time games against the Rams, the Saints, the Bears, and the Seahawks. This year, the Vikings have five more night games on the schedule. So why do they suddenly struggle under the lights?“I think it’s just because when you play in prime time everything’s magnified,” tight end Kyle Rudolph recently explained, in a visit to the #PFTPM podcast. “Unless you’re going out there and winning every game in prime time, which is difficult because if you’re playing in prime time you’re probably playing against somebody that’s pretty good. For us under Coach Zimmer we’ve been pretty good in prime time games over the course of the last five years. You do so much to try to keep your routine and whatnot but at the end of the day it’s just football. We’re going out whether we’re playing at noon or 7:30 at night. You go out there and play football and try to be better than that team that night.”Rudolph has a point about the quality of the competition; the Vikings four prime-time losses in 2018 came against playoff teams, including the two NFC finalists. This year, the Vikings have some time to get their footing before playing football at night. The first prime-time game happens on a Thursday night against Washington, after seven regular-season games have been played. Then comes a Week 10 visit to Dallas, followed by a Week 13 trip to Seattle https://www.dallascowboysfanshop.com/Rico-Gathers-Jersey , a Week 16 trip to L.A. to face the Chargers (subject to flexing), and a Week 16 Monday night game against the Packers.By the time the Vikings hit that stretch, the team will have developed its identity. And that’s another point Rudolph made: In 2017, the Vikings had a clear identity. In 2018, they didn’t. This year, they won’t have to worry about playing in prime time while they establish one, or while they don’t. It brings me great pleasure to share with you my 1,000th article over here at Blogging The Boys. And what better way to celebrate it than to talk about my favorite person within the Dallas Cowboys organization - Jason Garrett. Sure, he’s not everyone’s favorite and for some people - he’s at the bottom of your list, but hey - that’s what makes us all unique. When the Cowboys were 3-5 at the midway point this season, Jason Garrett’s approval rating was at an all-time low. The hot seat was pretty toasty at that time if you were listening to the scuttlebutt all across Cowboys Nation. Of course, Jerry Jones never wavered on his faith in his head coach and he had to feel pretty darn good when the Cowboys went on a run to finish the season. Another NFC East title was great Geoff Swaim Jersey , but then another divisional playoff loss was not so great and here we are again wondering what to expect next.Garrett will be sticking around, but his former offensive coordinator Scott Linehan is not. And after many fans were hoping for less Garrett, it’s possible we could be seeing even more Garrett should he take on the play-calling responsibilities. How does that make you feel? Here are three reasons you should feel pretty good about what’s coming down the pike for the Cowboys.Reason #1 - The rebuild is almost completeJason Garrett isn’t just a coach. He’s a team-builder. You hear all this talk about his “process” and how he is “building a team the right way,” but it’s a legit blueprint. He’s doing what he set out to do. Year after year, Garrett has remodeled each position group. It started out with a complete overhaul of an aging offensive line. After never taking an offensive lineman in the first-round of the draft since owning the team, Jones’ Cowboys took Tyron Smith during Garrett’s first year as head coach. They selected two more first-round lineman over the next three years in the draft. All three are All-Pro’s. Then came the defensive line overhaul, then secondary, and last year it was the pass catchers as both the wide receivers and tight end position groups were completely blown up.It’s frustrating to always listen to him talk about him improving the roster, but at least he’s kept the team competitive while he’s done it. He’s only had one losing season as a head coach and it came during a season where the team had no competent quarterback option after Tony Romo got hurt. Besides that 2015 season, the team has battled for playoff contention in every year. Not only have they won the NFC East in three of the last five seasons, but Garrett’s done it with three different teams. Only two players have started all three divisional playoff games.Reason #2 - SustainabilityPart of building the team the right way is that success can be repeated. The days of taking shortcuts are over. Dallas builds through the draft and they now have plenty of money to pay their top performers. That hasn’t always been the case. While the Cowboys haven’t been able to win the big prize, each new season brings about new hope because the team continues to trend in the right direction. Are you excited about next season? Of course you are. Other teams have flashed some great seasons Anthony Brown Color Rush Jersey , but they’ve had trouble sustaining their success. The New York Giants have had five losing seasons over the last six years. In 2016, they were praised for all that free agent spending and it was good enough for a wild card playoff appearance, but have since only won 25% of their games over the last two years. Some of their high-priced free agents aren’t even on the team anymore. The Philadelphia Eagles were also applauded for great front-office maneuvers. They won their first Super Bowl in franchise history last season. They tried to keep their success going by trading away a draft pick to get Golden Tate, but that turned out to be a costly rental. The Eagles are in the worst financial position of anyone in the league as they are $16 million over the cap. They’re going to have even more cost-cutting moves this offseason which will weaken their roster. And who knows what’s going on with their quarterback situation? Just a year ago, they were on top of the world. Now, they’re at a crossroad. The San Francisco 49ers looked like the next best thing under Jim Harbaugh, but they have missed the playoffs the last five seasons and gone through four different coaches. They’ve have five different quarterbacks lead their team in passing since 2011 dating back to when Alex Smith was still behind center.Winning games in the postseason is still what ails this Cowboys team, but let’s not pretend this isn’t a winning football team right now.Reason #3 - The play-callerGarrett is known for being a great motivator of his players. Nobody denies that. This team plays with a lot of fight. The issue comes when the Cowboys get out-coached with the X’s and O’s. After being one of the top offensive teams in the league not too long ago, the offense has slid considerably. They’ve have the leading rusher in three of the last five seasons, including Ezekiel Elliott in 2016 and 2018, but the passing game has diminished. Linehan is gone and the Cowboys are in search of a new play-caller, but it could be a familiar coach who might be the de facto offensive coordinator going forward. Reports are that Garrett could be in line to call plays for this offense.Fans may grimace over the idea that the hopes of sprucing up the passing game falls on Garrett https://www.dallascowboysfanshop.com/Joe-Looney-Jersey , but they shouldn’t. He’s had success doing just that. Check out the team’s passing stats over the last 12 seasons (the top 10 finishes are highlighted in green):I included the team’s leading passer in there to show that success in the air isn’t just Romo dependent. In fact, the common denominator for finishing in the top 10 in passing isn’t Romo at quarterback, but rather Garrett as the play-caller.Garrett handed over play-calling responsibilities in 2013 to Bill Callahan after it was believed freeing Garrett up would have a better overall effect on the success of the team. That wasn’t the answer as the team again finished 8-8 and the passing offense declined considerably. Callahan was replaced with Linehan and the team went on to make the playoffs three times, but the passing offense kept getting worse. Part of this was the emergence of a strong rushing attack, but the team lost it’s way to help move the ball through the air.The team is taking steps to help improve in that department. Adding Amari Cooper certainly will help. Drafting Michael Gallup should pay dividends as well. But giving Garrett more play-calling duties may also be the winning ticket in helping get the passing game back on track. Regardless of who is named the new offensive coordinator, look for Garrett to take more control of the offense. He’s built the team his way, he’s got them all playing with a relentless spirit, and now it’s time for them to run his offense. This team is truly becoming Jason Garrett’s team and it won’t be much longer before we all realize that’s a very good thing.
ENGLEWOOD https://www.broncosfanstore.com/Derek-Wolfe-Jersey , Colo. (AP) 鈥?The Denver Broncos traded nine-year veteran Demaryius Thomas to the Houston Texans on Tuesday.Thomas won't have to wait long to play his old team 鈥?the Texans (5-3) visit the Broncos (3-5) this weekend. The Broncos will also send a 2019 seventh-rounder to Houston and will receive fourth and seventh-round picks in the 2019 draft. The Texans found themselves thin at wide receiver when they lost Will Fuller for the season to a torn knee ligament and have had trouble keeping rookie Keke Coutee on the field. In a conference call with Denver media on Tuesday, Texans coach Bill O'Brien said he knew nothing of the trade talks for Thomas, saying, "I've been in meetings all day game planning." Besides Todd Davis Color Rush Jersey , he added, that's general manager Brian Gaine's department, not his. In what will be welcome news to most Denver Broncos fans, a league source has let Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk know that John Elway intends to fire head coach Vance Joseph at the end of the season. This report comes on the heels of another in which Elway tried to replace Joseph last year with Mike Shanahan. A scheme that was blocked by Broncos CEO & President Brendan Langley Jersey , Joe Ellis, and led to Elway sleeping on it making the decision to stick with Joseph for another year. With just one more loss, the Broncos will finish with their first back-to-back losing season in over 40 years and Elway isn’t going to let that stand. Florio noted that there is always a chance Elway might changed his mind again, but as a fan I’m 100% certain Elway won’t be changing his mind here. It would be ludicrous to keep things stale during the worst stretch this franchise has had since 1971. There is reason for optimism as the Broncos won just 12 games between 2009-2010 and emerged with five-straight playoff runs and two Super Bowl appearances. With just 11 wins in the last two seasons https://www.broncosfanstore.com/Justin-Simmons-Jersey , the Broncos are again facing major changes that will apparently begin with Vance Joseph’s ouster as head coach. But first, Denver has two more games to play.

The 2018 Chicago Bears have been compared to the 2017 Los Angeles Rams so much this year, that it will be interesting to see this Rams team up close and personal to see where the Bears could be headed. The parallels between the two teams are well documented. Both teams were going from an old school defensive coach to a new school offensive minded head coach. Both teams invested draft capital to move up in the draft to get their franchise quarterback. Both QBs struggled through growing pain as rookies in an outdated offensive scheme. Both franchises dedicated themselves to getting their quarterbacks on track in year two. The Rams went 11-5 under first year head coach Sean McVay in 2017, and the Bears are on a similar winning path at 8-4 under first year head coach Matt Nagy this season. In McVay’s second year, the Rams look like one of the best teams in the NFL, so where will Chicago be in Nagy’s second season? The present and the future looks bright for Bears’ fans. What really matters is who was available, and more importantly, when.Mock drafts are a tool. Nothing more, nothing less. Sure they can be entertaining, but for those of us that are trying to understand the draft (more specifically the 2019 draft as it’s own specific living, breathing, interconnected entity) mock drafts are a very valuable tool indeed.Doing one mock draft is fun, or as a friend of mine calls it: “A beer and pretzels game”. Doing multiple mock drafts, on multiple platforms with multiple boards Bryce Callahan Color Rush Jersey , is an exercise to better understand the forces that will shape how the draft actually plays out.Simply put, those forces are supply and demand. Supply is how many players there are of a certain position, quality, and schematic fit that are available to be picked. Demand is how many teams need players with those skills and how they will prioritize drafting them. It comes down to a basic economy: if many teams need a certain position (let’s say EDGE players in 2019) and there are not that many available... they will go quickly and be “overdrafted” relative to their skill/overall worth. If there is a greater supply of a certain position (let’s use RB’s in the 2019 draft for this example) then teams can wait, pick the positions which have a scarce supply first, and still find a quality RB to fit their system in the later rounds. This simple concept defines how the draft will play out in any given season.I did more than 10 mock drafts, on 2 platforms, using 3 different draft boards for this exercise. During this cycle, some patterns that will absolutely affect the Bears 2019 draft became crystal clear. Here’s what mock draft simulators taught me about the 2019 NFL Draft. If Chicago wants an EDGE player (without trading up), they’ll have to take that shot firstBad news Christian Miller fans: In 10 drafts the former Alabama EDGE never made it to the Bears first choice. In fact he never made it out of the 60’s.Players at his position are in high demand and will be overdrafted. While Miller was never available to the Bears at #87, players like Oshane Ximines were... sometimes. Jeff Berkes and I covered Ximines’ talents in our Bears Over Beers podcast focusing on EDGE players. I’d consider him a marginal value here but that’s beside the point. The point is if you don’t grab and EDGE player here, you are taking a heavy gamble that a lesser player will develop into a significant contributor down the line. The odds on that bet, historically speaking, are really, really low.Photo by David Becker/Getty ImagesAnother player who was there (but is a definite reach) in the third round is Justin Hollins from Oregon. I think Hollins has the tools to become a player very much like Leonard Floyd. Apparently Vic Fangio agrees with me as the Broncos just had him in for a visit, but even so he is still very much a projection/gamble. Regardless of that assessment supply rules the roost in the draft. He was routinely gone when the next pick rolled around... so if you don’t pay for the premium ticket you’re not even going to get a seat on the ride.Safety is very similar to EDGE: if the Bears want a player that will contribute in 2019, that player will likely be picked with pick #87 The Bears never even sniffed a player like Darnell Savage from Maryland with their pick at #87. While I can shed tears about that it doesn’t change the facts: If the Bears are bent on drafting a safety to play meaningful snaps this year Josh Bellamy Jersey , their fist choice is the best choice to fill that need. A couple of players I’ve tabbed as good fits for Chicago were available with some regularity here. Marquise Blair from Utah was the most common fixture at this spot but after him the choices got really thin. Armani Hooker from Iowa occasionally landed within Chicago’s reach (3 out of 10 times) and he’d be a solid choice... but his availability was far from a sure thing.Picking an RB with an early choice is, in draft capital terms, “inefficient” This is the position that has probably gotten the most media play as the Bears likely first choice. I’ve focused on two main targets as fits for Nagy’s offense: Darrell Henderson from Memphis and Trayveon Williams from Texas A&M. I’ll cover their prospects one at a time.Darrell Henderson was available on a fairly regular basis (in about half of the drafts), which was a welcome result. But a funny thing happened on the way to the forum: choosing Henderson at pick #87 basically submarined the rest of the draft. In terms of team needs, you end up chasing and picking lesser players from then on. Occasionally you’d have to abandon drafting the spot altogether because the pool of players who have even a hope of contributing is completely drained.Williams on the other hand, was regularly available (7 out of 10 times) at Chicago’s fourth round choice. That means that Pace could spend their third rounder on a position that has a higher demand/lower supply and still get a top-quality back to add to his haul.If you push this line of thinking out even further, and look at the generous supply of backs that might contribute who were available well into the later rounds (Bryce Love, Bruce Anderson, Ryquell Anderson, Jalin Moore, Darwin Thompson, etc.), then choosing an RB early is even more of anchor on Chicago’s overall draft strategy than previously thought. The bottom line is choosing a back early makes little sense from a strictly supply and demand perspective in the 2019 draft. Will Pace and Nagy do it anyway? They well might if they truly believe the RB in their sights is a difference-maker.CB is a need and solid options were usually available at the Bears second choice (#126 overall)Cornerback is a understated need for Chicago. All you need to do to bring this concept into sharper focus is to imagine a serious injury to either Kyle Fuller or Prince Amukamara. While solid options were almost always available at #87 (David Long [Michigan], Joejuan Williams [Vanderbilt]) a secondary trend emerged: If the Bears waited until their second pick they usually had a viable option waiting for them.Photo by Grant Halverson/Getty ImagesI think Michael Jackson from Miami has a solid skill set and would likely develop into a contributor. He was available in most of the drafts I did at Chicago’s second selection. This again left pick #87 open to select either an EDGE or a safety. If Ryan Pace wants a quality TE, he’ll have to sell out to do it (and that has a ripple effect)Tight end is a position where the Bears could use a little help or at least some solid insurance. It’s not a first-tier need but there are some quality TE’s in this year’s draft. I thought I might some value in the position but that never materialized. It turned out that if you wanted an impact TE this year, you had better select him at #87... and that had a chilling effect on the positions that you could choose from later on.Grabbing a player like Dawson Knox, Kahale Warring https://www.thebearsfanshop.com/Anthony-Miller-Jersey , or Josh Oliver (the 3 TE’s available with the most frequency at pick 87) makes a lot of sense, but it effectively kills Chicago’s shot at a quality EDGE or safety and limits their choices at CB too. That’s a heavy price to pay for a position that’s not truly a need. Occasionally the Bears caught a break and Stanford's Kaden Smith was available at their fourth round choice... but even that only happened intermittently. The last 10 picks before the Bears choose at #87 are going to be painful to sit through Be prepared Bears Fans: the last 10 picks before the Bears choose at #87 will be a long, slow, sad march. In almost every draft I ran at least 6 out of the 10 players chosen in those 10 previous picks were players the Bears could legitimately target. Watching them slip away, when Chicago was so close to finally making its first selection, was painful... every time. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. There is quality depth at WR, even if there isn’t a need... and it could offer a hidden value The Bears selection of pass catchers was as good as it’s been in a long time in 2018, and it might get even better in 2019. With Anthony Miller having a full year in the offense and Javon Wims looking to make the most of his sophomore campaign as well, Chicago’s receiving corps looks topped off with talent. But the draft doesn’t care, and it is absolutely stuffed to the gills with pass catching talent this time around.Ryan pace has a created a roster that is so complete that he could easily make choices with an eye almost solely not on the upcoming season, but rather the season after that (2020). If he goes that route (see what I did there?) he could easily load up on a young pass catcher who slides a bit in this draft. Photo by Dylan Buell/Getty ImagesReceiving prospects who are loaded with potential like Stanley Morgan Jr. (Nebraska), DeMarkus Lodge (Ole Miss), Jakobi Meyers (NC State), and Terry Godwin (Georgia) were often available at Chicago’s 5th round choice (#162). While the position isn’t an immediate need it could offer significant value and set the Bears up for sustained future success. Did anything surprise you? Does this change your mind about what Chicago's positional draft order should be? Lay it all out in the comments section below.

Murray’s deal signals the start of a new era in the New Orleans Saints’ backfield, as Mark Ingram’s time in the big easy appears all but over.Big shoes to fillIngram’s departure brings back the reminder of the cold reality that exists in the NFL and professional sports as a whole. The former first-round pick had a fantastic eight-year career with the Saints as he will leave second all-time in rushing and currently holds the all-time record in rushing touchdowns. He leaves behind quite a legacy.Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty ImagesIngram also leaves behind a locker room reputation that will dearly be missed, and no matter how good Latavius Murray performs on the field —will remain unmatched off the field. And let’s not dismiss the brother-like relationship Ingram openly had with the soon to be lead back Alvin Kamara.2014? What can Murray provide?Brad Rempel-USA TODAY SportsDid the Saints make a mistake in letting one of their newfound culture generators walk for an assumed downgrade? Could this be similar to 2014 all over again? What about Murray? Are we forgetting the type of offensive lines, Quarterbacks New Orleans Saints Connor McGovern Jersey , and offensive minds he’s played with over time? While Ingram is the superior player, the rest of the offseason in NOLA surrounded by the best offensive cast that Murray has seen may inch the needle closer than expected. And we also must remember the options that could come available during the draft, unrestricted free agency, and throughout the pre-season. Let’s not forget the ability the Saints have shown to find under the radar talented running backs in the Loomis-Payton era.The answers are unknown at this time as while the 2014 worries are reasonable, the numbers behind them aren’t. The 2014 Saints tried to change personnel and empty out older veterans, for more younger, spry, dynamic playmaking talents. It took the Saints years to recover from 2014’s infamous veteran overhaul Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images And in the case of that year, New Orleans replaced multiple talents at various positions to go with electing new leadership that lets just say —didn’t seep through every belt loop. The case of Mark Ingram is New Orleans sticking to their guns with other holes to fill in a position group where they already have a star player that should be ready for a lead role. The Saints didn’t have many of those examples in 2014 when they added several names from the outside. The chemistry NOLA has built this time around has a great chance of remaining strong, as they have resigned other key compartments from last year’s playoff run. And when it comes to Murray, the Saints clearly have done their homework and have a clear role in mind for him. He has strengths as a red zone runner that is used to catching the ball out of the backfield as well as making decisive cuts once a hole is available. With his size and the talent of the Saints offensive line, New Orleans may not need much more from Murray.Ain’t nothing more important than the moolahLet’s not forget the money aspect here either. It doesn’t get much more simple than this: The Saints wanted Mark Ingram — at the right price. The rumors are that Ingram is expecting anywhere from seven and a half to eight million in salary per year. The Baltimore Ravensappear to be the team first in line willing to meet his demands. That’s double what the Saints paid for in Murray. No matter how bad the Saints wanted Ingram to return, they had their limits and stuck their guns. At it’s lowest Ingram’s asking salary according to https://overthecap.com would place him right around the top seven ranking of highest paid running backs. And at eight million per year he’d be fighting for top five position. The problem is Cheap Connor McGovern Youth Jersey , Ingram would be the second oldest running back to crack the top ten, and the third oldest if we include the top 20.With a few other spotted holes left open on the roster, the Saints simply could not afford to pay Ingram what he wanted and ultimately deserved in his presumed final opportunity at a big payday. Even in a win-now mode as we count Drew Brees’ final NFL snaps.Photo by Rob Carr/Getty ImagesAnd we must also remember the younger star talents the Saints will have to pay big money eventually. Not to mention, Ingram wouldn’t even be the best running back on his team. The Kamara effect/Passing of the torchRunning backs in today’s NFL are found all over the place if given the right opportunity and system to thrive in. No one knows about that better than Alvin Kamara. While Mark Ingram was apart of a great duo in New Orleans, the Saints are best with Kamara on the field. Chuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsYes, they’ve tried to limit his workload. Yes, they’re still going to want to keep him fresh as the season progresses, so much that we shouldn’t rule out a third running back having a chance to make a rotational impact at some juncture. The biggest key here, however, is that Kamara is one of the best running backs in football. With a larger role, there’s a chance he could be the undisputed best. Kamara has the torch, and the juice now.The RealityOverall, Mark Ingram will forever be in the hearts and minds of Saints fans for his contributions on and off the field in New Orleans. The business of professional sports requires us all New Orleans Saints Nick Easton Jersey , however, to separate the emotion from the logic when making personnel decisions. The New England Patriots have been dominant over the past two decades not just because of their talent and coaching, but because of their ability to know when a dollar amount is too steep to tackle in certain areas. Running backs don’t have a very long shelf life in the NFL, and while Ingram’s workload doesn’t match the average soon to be 30 year old, the Saints’ hands were tied, and they stuck to their gut feeling.Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty ImagesThere will be a lot of work to be done going forward as Murray and others will have huge shoes to fill. The organization will have to provide reassurance to several that confided in Mark. And it’s a wake-up call to other key contributing veterans that if Mark Ingram can be moved on from, almost anybody can. There will still be several number 22 jerseys walking around the super dome, and he will one day be given every player award and retirement ceremony possible once his cleats are retired and his playing days are over. Ingram deserved a payday for all of the hard work he’s put in from day one. He had no choice but to get his worth, but unfortunately, we must all remember, either did New Orleans.
Amari Cooper‘s impact on Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott has been dramatic. The new No. 1 receiver for the Cowboys shook up the NFC East race Dallas Cowboys Chris Jones Jersey , too.Prescott threw his third touchdown pass to Cooper on the first possession of overtime, and the Cowboys took a big step toward the division title with a 29-23 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. On third down, Rasul Douglas tipped the pass into the air, and Cooper grabbed it and had a clear path to the end zone from the Philadelphia 7 for the 15-yard score. The Cowboys used almost all of the 10-minute overtime, scoring with 1:55 remaining.By winning the third overtime game in the past four seasons at A&T Stadium between these division rivals, the Cowboys (8-5) won their fifth straight game and took a two-game lead over the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles (6-7) and Washington with three games left. The Cowboys dominated almost from the start Womens Chris Jones 2019 Jersey , but let the Eagles stay close to set up a wild fourth quarter. Dallas, which can clinch the NFC East title with a win at Indianapolis next Sunday, finished with 576 yards, the most since gaining 578 against the St. Louis Cardinals in 1973.Cooper finished with 217 yards receiving on 10 catches in his second game in the past three with at least 180 yards and two scores. All three of Cooper’s touchdowns — the others from 75 and 28 yards — were in the fourth quarter and overtime.Acquired from Oakland for a 2019 first-round draft pick seven games into the season, Cooper leads the NFL with 642 yards receiving since Week 9, his first game with the Cowboys. He had nine catches for 190 yards after halftime.“He’s made a huge impact on our team since we’ve gotten him Cheap Chris Jones Youth Jersey ,” coach Jason Garrett said. “I thought he did a good job staying patient early on in the ballgame and just continuing to work to get open. I thought Dak did a really good job getting him the ball in critical moments.”Carson Wentz threw for three touchdowns, including a pair of tying scores in the fourth quarter. But he never got a chance in overtime because of the 13-play, 75-yard drive engineered by Prescott. The third-year quarterback overcame two interceptions and a lost fumble to set career highs in completions (42), attempts (54) and yards passing (455).The Cowboys converted a fourth-and-1 from the Eagles 19 with a 1-yard plunge from Ezekiel Elliott, who had 192 yards from scrimmage on 40 touches — 28 carries for 113 yards and 12 catches for 79.Cooper converted a pair of third downs on the winning drive. The first one was big, too — a 12-yarder on third-and-9 from the Philadelphia 40.Brett Maher set a Dallas franchise record with a 62-yard field goal on the final play of the first half and had three field goals. The game went from a defensive struggle with missed Dallas opportunities that kept the Eagles close to a wild fourth-quarter shootout.Wentz thought he had answered a 75-yard touchdown to Cooper with a matching 75-yarder to tight end Dallas Goedert. But Goedert was called for pass interference Dallas Cowboys Jeff Heath Jersey , apparently for pushing off against Jeff Heath before bouncing off a helmet-to-helmet hit from Xavier Woods that wasn’t called and running to the end zone from midfield.Philadelphia scored anyway, with Wentz leading a more methodical march to his third touchdown pass, a 6-yarder to Darren Sproles for a 23-23 tie.The Eagles, outgained 233 yards to 70 before halftime, were scoreless when Corey Graham returned Prescott’s second interception to the Dallas 2 in the third quarter. Wentz threw a 2-yard screen to Alshon Jeffery on the next play, and Jake Elliott missed the extra point for a 9-6 deficit. After Prescott’s third turnover — a fumble near midfield — led to Elliott’s tying field goal Womens Maliek Collins 2019 Jersey , Prescott capped a 75-yard drive with a 28-yard TD to Cooper. The teams exchanged punts before Wentz took advantage of another short field, capping a 47-yard drive with a 3-yard scoring toss to Goedert for another tie, 16-16.STRANGE CALL TO STARTThe Cowboys got a big break to avoid a lost fumble on the opening kickoff. Jourdan Lewis fumbled, but officials ruled him down. The Eagles appeared to come away with the loose ball.Philadelphia coach Doug Pederson challenged the call, and referee Clete Blakeman said the review showed that Jordan fumbled. However, Blakeman said there was no clear recovery even though the Eagles came out of the pile with the ball.Pederson lost the challenge and a timeout Womens Jeff Heath 2019 Jersey , and the Cowboys kept the ball instead of the Eagles starting their first possession at the Dallas 18.INJURIESPhiladelphia RB Corey Clement injured his right knee when he was stopped for a 4-yard loss late in the first quarter and didn’t return. … Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat left in the first half with an ankle injury and didn’t return. … Cowboys RG Zack Martin left in the second half with a knee injury. The four-time Pro Bowler has been battling a knee issue all season.UP NEXTEagles: At LA Rams next Sunday.Cowboys: At Indianapolis next Sunday. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones usually takes to microphones like a moth to a flame, but he didn’t talk after last Sunday’s loss to Washington and he cancelled one of his weekly radio appearances before news of the team’s trade for wide receiver Amari Cooper broke this week.Jones was back on the airwaves Friday and said on 105.3 The Fan that he avoided the media because he knows he can’t keep a secret. The team was already talking about a deal for Cooper and Jones didn’t want to spill the beans before the agreement to send a first-round pick to Oakland was in place. That was seen by many as a high price to pay for a receiver who hasn’t been at the top of his game for the last year-plus and is set to make nearly $14 million next year. That’s the final year of his current contract, but Jones said Friday, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, that the Cowboys wouldn’t have paid such a high price if they weren’t planning to have Cooper around for the long term. There’s more than one way for that to happen as the Cowboys could use franchise tags in place of a long-term deal. Decisions on that front will likely wait until Cooper’s actually played for the Cowboys and Jones’ hopes for how that will go are as high as you’d expect. He said he expects Cooper to change the “dynamics” of the offense and compared him to former Cowboy and Pro Football Hall of Famer Lance Alworth. Making good on that comparison would make it easier for the Cowboys to justify the price paid to get Cooper to Dallas and any future price they’ll pay to keep him there.
With six of the first 135 picks in this year’s draft Womens Pierre Desir 2019 Jersey , the Colts had more draft capital than many other teams. They didn’t have an enormous draft board to consult before using those picks, however. General Manager Chris Ballard said that the team has steadily shrunk the size of their draft board over the course of his tenure with the team and expects to continue doing so in the years to come.“I’d say this year we had 170 players on the board which is way down from where it was before,” Ballard said, via Albert Breer of SI.com. “I think last year we were at 220, I can’t even remember the number from my first year. But yeah, it makes it easier to navigate when you have fewer names that you know fit what you want. I think when we really get it right, and we get it down to about 125, 150, that’s when we’ll have really honed down exactly what a Colt is for our schemes. And not only from a player perspective, how he’s going to fit on the team, but also from a character perspective.”Regardless of how many players are under consideration, you still have to pick the right ones once you’re on the clock. Ballard hit on that front in 2018 and more of the same this year should only make it easier for the Colts to stick with the same approach for years to come. While I understand this a Colts website and bias might be involved, I’ll make sure to keep it as objective as possible.
TY Hilton vs. Julian EdelmanSome fans and analysts have been calling Edelman a future Hall of Famer. While he has a few iconic plays in his career, on a week to week and season to season basis, he’s nothing more than a top 15-20 receiver in the NFL. While he is a very different receiver than Hilton, Hilton has shown the ability to be a quality possession receiver when called upon. Edelman has never been a legitimate deep threat in his entire career. Hilton’s numbers have almost always exceeded Edelman’s. When comparing them against each other the last 5 seasons, Hilton averages more yards per game on less catches, a higher touchdown per season average and far fewer fumbles. Hilton is also 4 years younger than Edelman (29 vs 33), so this debate isn’t really a debate. Edelman is a very good receiver for the Patriots’ offense, but when comparing him against a player like TY, it’s not even much of a contest.Winner: TY Hilton
TY Hilton vs. Robert WoodsRobert Woods was a breakout star last season after a few seasons as a quality #2. In his previous five seasons as a #2 receiver in a below average offense (in Buffalo) and an above average offense in Los Angeles Jacoby Brissett Jersey Stitched , Woods never put up more than 65 catches or 781 yards.Woods put up respectable numbers, but his breakout season was a huge step up.So while Woods’ 2018 season would be considered very good by TY Hilton’s standards, the fact of the matter is that Hilton has been a consistent #1 star receiver for many more seasons and Woods might be two years younger, but most analysts, including myself, would say that Woods has reached his ceiling with an 86 catch, 1219 yard season, whereas TY Hilton might have a bit extra left in the tank. Hilton’s explosiveness is really what separates him from Woods, who is more a possession receiver who relies on route running. Hilton runs very good routes (as good or nearly as good as Woods), has just as good hands (both drop rates under 3.5%), and is a much better deep threat. When putting matchups together, I thought this would be more interesting, but it’s become clear that Hilton is in a tier above Woods. Winner: TY Hilton
TY Hilton vs. Juju Smith-SchusterJuju Smith Schuster is a rising star in the NFL and his career might explode as the #1 receiver in a pass happy offense. Hilton Malik Hooker Jersey White , the #1 in a loaded offense, might see a small bump in his numbers this year, but Smith-Schuster’s offense tends to pass the ball so he should have more targets than Hilton, especially considering the Colts have a better pass catching group than the Steelers do. The two big things that Smith-Schuster has over Hilton is age and ceiling. While Hilton has been very consistent and one of the top 10 receivers in the NFL over the past 5 years, Smith-Schuster, on the other hand, at 22 years old, was one of the top 5 or 6 receivers in the NFL last year and has the potential to be the best receiver in the NFL in the next 2-3 seasons. So while Hilton has been consistent over the past few years, Juju has a chance of being the best receiver in the league by the age of 25, something that Hilton can’t reach at this point in his career, so this battle goes to Juju.Winner: Juju Smith-Schuster

And with Baker Mayfield in the fold, we finally don’t have to obsess over which quarterback the Browns should pick at the top of the first round. So why not turn our attention to some of the prospects that could end up protecting Baker?Below are my snap judgments on linemen. But first:What this article isQuick, intuitive judgmentsBased off of one day watching these prospects in their underwearAn article intended to generate discussionWhat this article is notA full scouting report on each prospectBased on actual football (if I watched these guys play it was “as a fan”, and as a disclaimer I am an Ohio State fan)A final judgement of any player or a ranking of any kindAndre Dillard, Washington StateSimply put, this guys looked the most impressive out of any tackle prospect at the combine in terms of potential. He is huge, long, and the kind of athlete you want protecting the edge and playing in space. If we are drafting a left tackle in the first round, I think this guy is one of few who could become that rock-solid presence to protect Baker for the next 10 years. However, Dillard got a little sloppy with his technique at times and seemed to get noticeably gassed during some of the drills (which caused him to get even sloppier). He will need time to refine his technique and tighten up his movements before he maxes out his potential.James Snook-USA TODAY SportsCody Ford, OklahomaI just don’t think this guy is a tackle in the NFL. Maybe he could protect the right edge, but I didn’t like the way he looked in space. Ford did look powerful and like he would play with good technique, but I just think he’ll be a guard.Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsDerwin Gray, MarylandAlmost on the opposite side of things from Ford is Derwin Gray out of Maryland. Gray looked absolutely massive, and appeared to have the kind of length and short-area athleticism you want from a tackle. As a bonus, he looked like had the power to shift inside to guard. However, Gray looked sloppy in his technique at times, allowing his footwork and hands to get away from him. I think Gray is probably a mid-late round sleeper with potential to end up at tackle. Garrett Bradbury, NC StateBradbury looked like a clear winner at the combine. He is a Center only in my opinion, but was great in the athletic tests. In his underwear, Bradbury did not appear to have the kind of sheer mass to be a dominant in-line power blocker, which is maybe the one nit to pick in his resume as a prospect. But for a team that asks its C to win with athleticism Bradbury looked like the kind of guy you draft and then rely on for the next decade.Perhaps more impressive than his physical testing was the technique Bradbury displayed during the drills. His footwork was neat and tight, his hands stayed calm and ready. He was able to maintain a low center of gravity even late into drills, and just made everything look easy.Chuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsErik McCoy, Texas A&M I’d rate McCoy slightly lower than Bradbury overall Cleveland Browns Andraez Williams Jersey , but he seemed to have more scheme versatility. He’s not as tight in his technique, and didn’t seem quite as fluid in his movements. But he did seem more capable of dealing with massive 0/1 technique. There is a chance McCoy could fill in at guard in the NFL, but I think his best fit is at center.Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsGreg Little, Ole MissLittle confirmed he is a tackle prospect, and looked like a quick, long player who could play on the edge. Purely based on the underwear olympics, I’d be a little worried about his strength. He also tended to rise up when he slid in the drills, and playing with a high center of gravity makes any player play weaker.Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsThe Wisconsin Trio (David Edwards, Beau Benzschawel, and Michael Dieter)So, I am definitely doing a disservice to these guys by listing them together. I apologize. But they are all from the University of Wisconsin (known for churning out quality O linemen), they are all blonde, and they are all literally within one inch (6’6”, 6’6”, 6’5”) and one pound (309, 309, 308) of one another. I had a note that one of them displayed excellent technique on the right side of the edge pass protecting drill, but I thought it was Edwards and second-guessed myself after a scouting report knocked his technique. All of these guys seemed to play with good technique and seem like versatile backup-type prospects (Dieter is probably a C/G, the other two are probably RT/G). None of them looked like maulers, but could be the type of underrated prospect who does well in a zone scheme.Mike Jordan, the Ohio State UniversityJordan looks like a big, thick guard who could probably fill in at center in a pinch. Jordan’s technique wasn’t overly impressive, but he looked like a powerful guy who would do well in a power scheme.Isaiah Prince, the Ohio State UniversityPrince is a massive, long prospect who lacks the athleticism to play on the left side. He does have some of the best length at the combine, so I think you have to ask yourself if you think he has the athleticism to protect the right edge. I don’t think he can play guard in most schemes. He did run a good 40 yard dash, but he’ll need short area lateral quickness to stick in the NFL.Nate Davis, CharlotteA big Womens Andraez Williams 2019 Jersey , powerful looking guy from a lesser-known program. Davis’s flexibility was very impressive, and he seemed like a fluid athlete. He looks like a guard, and while he could use a little polish in his technique he seems to have a lot of potential.Jonah Williams, AlabamaI’m probably biased by the NFL Network coverage, but he looked like a poor man’s Joe Thomas (no one is Joe Thomas). He seemed to not be the LT you create in a lab with shorter than ideal arms and without a massive body. But he displayed the quickness and technique to have me believe he could probably play on the left side. I didn’t get to see him as much as I wanted, but he seemed boring, yet good.Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsOverallThis class appears to have a few good line prospects, but appears to lack multiple quality options for franchise left tackles. If we are thinking about the future of that position and potentially moving on from Greg Robinson, the best two prospects at that position looked like Dillard and Williams. This draft seems to have a number of guards who can succeed at the NFL level in a variety of schemes, but the Browns don’t really seem to have a need there. And at center, Bradbury stood above the rest to me, with McCoy coming in closely behind. Both seem like quality linemen who might be in the 1st or 2nd round discussion based on one look at them not playing any actual football. What do you think, Browns fans? DENVER (AP) — Nose tackle Shelby Harris picked off Ben Roethlisberger’s 2-yard pass to Antonio Brown in the end zone with 1:03 remaining to seal Denver’s 24-17 win over Pittsburgh that snapped the Steelers’ six-game winning streak Sunday. The Broncos (5-6) used four takeaways to counter a 97-yard touchdown toss from Roethlisberger to JuJu Smith-Schuster.Roethlisberger was 41 of 56 for 462 yards, but he was intercepted twice and the Steelers (7-3-1) lost two fumbles in losing for the first time since September.Phillip Lindsay rushed for 110 yards and the game-deciding touchdown on just 14 carries for Denver, which also ended the Chargers‘ six-game winning streak last week and would have snapped Houston’s five-game roll were it not for a missed field goal as time expired.CHARGERS 45, CARDINALS 10CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Philip Rivers tied the NFL record for consecutive completions and set marks for the most to start a game and the highest percentage in a game and Los Angeles rolled over Arizona. The 15-year veteran completed his first 25 passes and was 28 of 29 for 259 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters. It was also his 11th straight game with multiple TD passes.Rivers completed 25 straight passes in the first 2½ quarters, tying Ryan Tannehill’s mark from 2015. The Dolphins QB completed his last seven passes against the Tennessee Titans in on Oct. 18, 2015, and then his first 18 the following week against the Houston Texans.Rivers tied the mark with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Keenan Allen midway through the third quarter. He had his only incompletion on the next possession when he was rushed and was unable to connect on a short pass to Austin Ekeler.Rivers did break Mark Brunell’s record for most completions to start a game. Brunell had 22 straight for the Washington Redskins against the Houston Texans on Sept. 24, 2006. Rivers’ 96.8 percent accuracy surpassed Kurt Warner’s 92.3 percent, which was set in 2009 when he went 24 of 26 for Arizona against Jacksonville. The Cardinals (2-9) jumped out to a 10-0 lead with scores on their first two possessions before the Chargers (8-3) scored touchdowns on six of seven possessions.COLTS 27, DOLPHINS 24INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Andrew Luck threw three touchdown passes, Adam Vinatieri kicked a 32-yard field goal as time expired and Indianapolis beat Miami for its fifth consecutive victory.Indianapolis (6-5) scored 13 points in the final 8½ minutes to erase a 10-point deficit. It’s the longest win streak for the Colts since 2014.Miami (5-6) has lost 10 of its past 11 on the road, perhaps none more frustrating than this one. The Dolphins picked off Luck twice, recovered a fumble and partially blocked a punt on their way to a 24-14 lead.It still wasn’t enough to derail the resurgent Luck, who was 30 of 37 for 343 yards. He also had the first catch of his NFL career, a 4-yard reception on fourth-and-1 late in the first half. Luck capped that drive with a 1-yard TD pass to Jack Doyle.SEAHAWKS 30 Cleveland Browns Andraez Williams Jersey , PANTHERS 27CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Russell Wilson threw for 339 yards and two touchdowns and Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 31-yard field goal as time expired to lift Seattle to a come-from-behind victory over Carolina. After Graham Gano missed a 52-yard field goal with 1:40 left in the game that would have given the Panthers the lead, Wilson moved around in the pocket until finding Tyler Lockett downfield for a 43-yard completion, setting up the winning kick. The victory puts Seattle (6-5) firmly in the hunt for a wild-card spot in the NFC, while the Panthers (6-5) are reeling after losing three straight and having their 10-game home winning streak snapped.Lockett finished with five catches for 107 yards and a touchdown, while David Moore had four receptions for 103 yards and a score. The Panthers spoiled a record-setting performance from Christian McCaffrey, who had a franchise-record 237 yards from scrimmage. He had 17 carries for 125 yards and 11 catches for 112 yards, becoming the first Carolina player to surpass 100 yards in both receiving and rushing in the same game.Cam Newton finished 25 of 30 for 256 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception in the end zone. He ran for 63 yards on eight carries.VIKINGS 24, PACKERS 17MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Kirk Cousins bounced back from his worst game for Minnesota with 342 passing yards and three touchdowns without a turnover, and the Vikings overcame some early gaffes to outlast depleted Green Bay.Completing 29 of his 38 attempts, Cousins found Dalvin Cook, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen for scores. Sheldon Richardson had two sacks to lead the defense’s game-long stifling of Aaron Rodgers, and the Vikings (6-4-1) pushed the Packers (4-6-1) further back in the NFC wild-card race.Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Davante Adams and Aaron Jones scored on a short run for a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter, but the Packers fell to 0-6 on the road and 1-5-1 against the Vikings in their last seven meetings.BROWNS 35, BENGALS 20CINCINNATI (AP) — Baker Mayfield threw a career-high four touchdown passes in another growing-up-fast performance, and Cleveland ended one of the NFL’s longest streaks of road futility with a victory over Cincinnati, which lost quarterback Andy Dalton to a thumb injury.Cleveland (4-6-1) got its first road win since 2015, emphatically snapping a streak of 25 straight road losses that was one shy of the Lions‘ NFL record. The Browns also ended a run of seven straight losses to their intrastate rival. And just as a Browns safety predicted, it wasn’t even close. The Browns surged ahead 28-0 as former head coach Hue Jackson watched helplessly from the opposite sideline. Jackson couldn’t win with the Browns — only three wins in two-plus seasons. Nor could he couldn’t beat them as a special defensive assistant with the Bengals (5-6), who lost for the fifth time in six games.EAGLES 25, GIANTS 22PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jake Elliott kicked a 43-yard field goal with 22 seconds remaining, and Philadelphia rallied for a victory over New York. The defending Super Bowl champions trailed 12-0 early and were down 19-14 in the fourth quarter before Carson Wentz made key throws and undrafted rookie Josh Adams delivered big runs.Adams scored on a 1-yard touchdown run and ran up the middle for the 2-point conversion to put Philadelphia ahead 22-19.After the Giants tied it on Aldrick Rosas‘ third field goal, a 29-yarder, the Eagles controlled the ball for 5:27.Coach Doug Pederson went for a fourth-and-1 at the Giants 42 and Wentz completed a 12-yard pass to Nelson Agholor right before the two-minute warning. Adams ran three times and Elliott made the go-ahead kick. The Giants started at their 34 with 16 seconds left but couldn’t do much. The Eagles (5-6) stayed in the mix in a mediocre NFC East. The Cowboys and Redskins are tied for first place at 6-5. The Giants fell to 3-8.PATRIOTS 27, JETS 13EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Tom Brady threw two touchdown passes and became the NFL’s career leader in total yards passing in regular-season and playoff games, leading New England over New York.Brady also reached 3,000 yards passing for the 16th season Cheap Andraez Williams Youth Jersey , tying Peyton Manning for second in NFL history behind Brett Favre’s 18. The New England quarterback surpassed the mark early in the fourth quarter with a 17-yard completion to a diving Josh Gordon.Brady has 79,416 yards after going 20 of 31 for 283 yards in the victory that clinched the Patriots (8-3) their 18th straight season with a .500 record or better. That ranks second in NFL history to only Dallas, which had 21 in a row from 1965-85.Brady had just one TD throw in his previous three games, but connected with Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman against the AFC East-rival Jets (3-8). Rookie Sony Michel ran for a season-best 133 yards and a TD, and the Patriots had 216 yards rushing to improve to 3-3 on the road this season.RAVENS 34, RAIDERS 17BALTIMORE (AP) — Rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson ran for a touchdown and threw for a score, Terrell Suggs returned a fumble 43 yards for a TD and Baltimore ran past Oakland.Cyrus Jones took a punt 70 yards for a touchdown to help the Ravens (6-5) win a second straight game for the first time since September.Gus Edwards rushed for 118 yards as part of an effective ground game that enabled Jackson to pass just enough to keep the Raiders (2-9) off guard — and off the field. Baltimore expanded a three-point halftime lead to 27-17 with two run-heavy touchdown drives that consumed a total of nearly 16 minutes. With starter Joe Flacco out for a second straight game with an injured right hip, Jackson cut down on his rushing attempts, threw more often and got the same result — a victory. After carrying 27 times for 117 yards last week in his NFL starting debut, Jackson ran 11 times for 71 yards and went 14 for 25 for 178 yards and two interceptions.Suggs clinched it with 5:55 left, lumbering down the right sideline after Oakland’s Derek Carr was sacked by Matthew Judon and lost the ball on a fourth-down play.BILLS 24, JAGUARS 21ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Josh Allen scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 14-yard run in the fourth quarter, and the Bills beat the Jaguars in a game marred by a fight that led to the ejections of Jacksonville running back Leonard Fournette and Buffalo defensive end Shaq Lawson.Fournette scored twice to tie it at 14 in the second quarter. He finished with 95 yards on 18 carries before he was thrown out with 2:57 left in the third.Allen also threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Robert Foster in the rookie quarterback’s first game since missing four with a sprained throwing elbow. Rookie receiver Isaiah McKenzie scored on a 6-yard run off a sweep, and Buffalo (4-7) came off its bye week off to win consecutive games for the first time this season. The Jaguars (3-8) dropped their seventh consecutive game in their longest losing streak since a nine-game slide in 2016, which led directly to Gus Bradley being fired and replaced by current coach Doug Marrone.BUCCANEERS 27, 49ERS 9TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Jameis Winston threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns to help Tampa Bay snap a four-game losing streak.Winston, benched last month after turning the ball over 11 times in 14 quarters, completed 29 of 38 passes without an interception. The fourth-year pro, who’s shared the starting job with Ryan Fitzpatrick, tossed scoring passes of 6 yards to Cameron Brate and 28 yards to Adam Humphries on a play he extended by scrambling to his right before throwing back toward the center of the field.Tampa Bay (4-7), meanwhile, had four sacks and forced a turnover on defense for the first time in eight games, with Ryan Smith and Isaiah Johnson coming up with the team’s first interceptions since a loss to Pittsburgh on Sept. 24.Matt Breida rushed for 106 yards for the 49ers (2-9).

Jansen, and that’s a good thingTwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailPhoto by John Gress/Getty ImagesSome football players like to draw attention to themselves by celebrating after big plays, and how can we blame them? So much of football is just painfully grinding away in the trenches until — BOOM! — a big play shifts the momentum of a game. Offensive players can usually point to their individual contributions toward a long touchdown just as defensive players can celebrate how their effort led to a huge sack or a pick-six. But there is one position in football that never gets to celebrate and only gets noticed when they screw up. At best, players at this position can only do their job. At worst Trai Turner Color Rush Jersey , they can cost their team a game. It’s an often invisible, regularly lonely position. I’m talking about long snappers. The most successful long snappers are often the most anonymous. Their names usually only get called when they send a snap skidding on the ground toward the field goal holder or launch one over the punter’s head. But as Carolina Panthers fans we know the name of our long snapper and it’s for all the right reasons. J.J. Jansen is one of the best long snappers in the NFL. The 33-year-old is a 10-year Panthers veteran and has appeared in all 160 games during his career. He made the Pro Bowl in 2013 and in 2016 Pro Football Focus named him the NFC’s best long snapper. Jansen is currently three years into a five-year, $5.5 million contract. This represents a good deal for the Panthers as Jansen’s $1.1 million average annual salary ranks 10th among long snappers. Not bad for getting one of the most experienced, consistent players at a highly specialized position. Since Jansen normally just keeps his head down (literally) and rather anonymously does his job, I thought I’d do a little research to help us all learn a little bit more about him. Based on an interview with Bill Voth, Jansen gives into “wife pressure”, enjoys bands that open for Taylor Swift Taylor Moton Jersey , and referred to himself and former punter Brad Nortman as “dorks” who “appreciate each other’s nerdiness and dorkiness.” In a separate interview with Voth, former punter Andy Lee described Triple J as “intuitive with investments.” Jansen then humorously needled kicker Graham Gano for not being part of the “best friends club” that he and Lee had developed.Jansen comes across as quirky in the few interviews he has done, but what else should we expect? This is a man who has a quirky profession. His only job is to bend over, look between his legs, and sling footballs into the tiny window of a teammate’s waiting hands. He has played 160 games as a Carolina Panther yet most of us wouldn’t recognize him if we were standing behind him in line at the DMV. The better he does his job, the less his name gets mentioned. Fortunately for us as Panthers fans, J.J. Jansen keeps a low profile. No snooping will be needed this week to know whether Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is throwing footballs. The team has announced that he will.According to Panthers.com Wes Horton Color Rush Jersey , Newton will throw during quarterback drills at the team’s mandatory minicamp, with a limited number of throws aimed at stationary targets. But that’s the extent of it, for now.“It’s still unclear when Newton will start participating in team drills,” Max Henson of Panthers.com writes. The best news is the contention that Newton currently is pain-free. That eventually could cause heartburn to opponents.“He’s done an outstanding job with his rehab and just being accountable to get his shoulder in the best shape possible,” quarterbacks coach Scott Turner said, via Henson. “Mentally, with me in the classroom Stephen Curry Jersey , he’s just been great. He understands how important all of this is. He’s progressing and he’s excited about it. We all are. He’s got a chance to have a really great year.”If Newton can get healthy and stay healthy, he could have a special year. A year like 2015, when he was named the NFL’s MVP.

No one has ever handed Jeff Heath anything. He entered the league in 2013 as an undrafted free agent out of Saginaw Valley State.Even after starting 31 games the past two seasons https://www.dallascowboysfanshop.com/Brett-Maher-Jersey , Heath still is looked upon as a core special teams player. The Cowboys openly have talked about trying to upgrade at strong safety, and executive vice president Stephen Jones mentioned Wednesday that the team has received calls from teams willing to trade them a safety.Heath greets the news with a shrug.“I feel the same that I do every year,” Heath said on ESPN Dallas 103.3, via the . “Regardless of what other safeties are there. I’ve kind of accepted in this league they are always trying to replace you [and] they are always looking at new guys. So that’s going to be something that not only myself, but everyone deals with on a yearly basis.”The good news for Heath is the Cowboys didn’t do much at the position this offseason. They didn’t get involved in the bidding for Earl Thomas, instead signing George Iloka in the second tier of free agency. They passed on drafting Juan Thornhill or Taylor Rapp in the second round and settled for Donovan Wilson in the sixth. As it stands now, Iloka and Heath figure to have the best chance to win the job opposite free safety Xavier Woods.“That’s what makes the NFL the NFL Jeff Heath Jersey ,” Heath said. “You always have to compete for your spot. I don’t see it as a competition with other players. I see it as a competition with myself to try to be better than the year I was before. Improve on stuff I need to improve on. It’s just a more enjoyable way to play rather than trying to look over your shoulder at all times.”
Giants co-owner John Mara is already on the record as being opposed to the “fourth-and-15” alternative for onside kicks Jake Butt Color Rush Jersey , though that’s hardly surprising given the rather traditional way Mara has built a roster lately. But for Broncos executive John Elway, the proposal to give teams a chance to convert a low-percentage play instead of trying a no-percentage play is exciting. His background as a quarterback who could pull off late-game situations — and his experience as an Arena League owner — gives him another perspective.“Sure it’s a little bit gimmicky from what we’re used to but the whole game is changing,’’ Elway said, via Mike Klis of KUSA. “So, changing the mentality, especially with the defensive players and making it a safer league, which is good. The onside kick you’re twice as likely to get hurt as on a scrimmage play so there’s player safety involved there.“And the bottom line is, you give your team a chance to come back when you’re behind.’’While the league’s old guard might resist, eventually the game has to adapt, and this proposal seems to have few downsides beyond the chance of penalties leading to automatic first downs. Of course Billy Turner Jersey , it was someone else’s idea first (the AAF), and the NFL also seems resistant to do anything that wasn’t originally their brilliant plan. As we lead up to Sunday’s game against the Bengals, some talking head somewhere is inevitably going to go hunting through box scores and other basic stats and then turn around and start spouting about the Broncos’ exploitable run defense. That’ll be your signal to ignore that particular talking head- even if it’s one that’s usually competent like Tony Romo. Here’s what you’ll hear:The Broncos have given up 1,354 rushing yards.Teams are gaining 4.7 yards per carry against the Broncos. The Broncos are allowing 123 rushing yards per game. The Broncos are among the 10 worst teams in the NFL for all of those stats. And so on. But like many season-long views of basic stats, that’s more than a little misleading. As I’ve written about before, the two historically terrible run defense games the Broncos suffered vs the Jets and Rams earlier this season are pulling those season averages pretty sharply away from numbers that are at all accurate.Photo by Justin Edmonds/Getty ImagesIn my opinion, it’s far more germane to take a look at what the Broncos’ run defense has accomplished vs the primary running backs of each team it’s faced lately. It’s a rather star-studded group that features the following:David Johnson, Cardinals: 13th most rushing yards this season. 692 rushing yards, 62.9 per game.Kareem Hunt, Chiefs: 5th most. 824 rushing yards https://www.broncosfanstore.com/Tramaine-Brock-Jersey , 74.9 per game.Lamar Miller, Texans: 8th most. 773 rushing yards, 77.3 per game.Melvin Gordon, Chargers: 6th most. 802 rushing yards, 80.2 per game.James Conner, Steelers: 3rd most. 849 rushing yards, 77.2 per game. That’s an impressive bunch of rushers. They’re just one part of a gauntlet of high-performing running backs the Broncos have faced or will face this season. Other notable backs on the Broncos schedule include: an earlier game vs Kareem Hunt and one against the Rams’ Todd Gurley (2nd in rushing yards), another game still to go vs Melvin Gordon, and upcoming games against Joe Mixon (14th), Matt Breida (11th) Su'a Cravens Jersey , and Nick Chubb (15th). That’s 10 games this season vs top 15 RBs, and 7 of the 10 vs top 10 RBs.Photo by Justin Edmonds/Getty ImagesHere’s how the last 5 guys to face our run defense fared:David Johnson: 14 carries for 39 yards, 2.79 YPC (1 yard below his average)Kareem Hunt: 16 carries for 50 yards, 3.13 YPC (1.5 yards below)Miller: 12 carries for 21 yards, 1.75 YPC (3.15 yards below)Melvin Gordon: 18 carries for 69 yards, 3.83 YPC (1.4 yards below)James Conner: 13 carries for 53 yards, 4.08 YPC (0.5 yards below)What’s kind of incredible is that four of these games were decided by a touchdown or less, so it’s not like the Chiefs, Texans, Chargers https://www.broncosfanstore.com/Courtland-Sutton-Jersey , & Steelers had abandoned the run to try and make up ground. No, this was four top 10 running backs in a row who received less than 20 carries against the Broncos. Why would that happen? Because their coaches studied the Broncos’ tape and decided a run-heavy gameplan was futile. So far this season, the Bengals’ Joe Mixon is averaging 4.1 yards per rush attempt. He’s accumulated 673 yards on 142 carries (just shy of 16 carries per game), and scored 5 touchdowns. How he’ll fare Sunday against the Broncos isn’t entirely predictable considering the Bengals’ change at quarterback and how that may impact their playbook and gameplan. But it’s probably safe to say that any coach worth his salt would prefer to rely on his run game to ease the burden on his now-starting backup QB. If Marvin Lewis goes that route, Mixon is likely going to get eaten alive. Well, he’ll likely get eaten alive regardless. My estimate is that Mixon will end the day Sunday with less than 20 carries, for about 2.5 yards per carry and he probably won’t be crossing the goal line. DENVER, CO - NOVEMBER 19: Joe Mixon #28 of the Cincinnati Bengals carries the ball against the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on November 19, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. (Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty ImagesThe Broncos’ run defense has patched up it’s hole from the Jets & Rams games with 5 consecutive good performances since then. It’s become stout enough that teams are disinclined to commit to the run vs Denver. We can go into the game Sunday with the expectation that it’ll bottle up Joe Mixon too. And that’s pretty nice Isaac Yiadom Color Rush Jersey , because Vance Joseph & Joe Woods have the Broncos secondary playing pretty well right now. There are certainly yards to be gained against the Broncos’ secondary, as the Steelers showcased, but points are harder to come by. Look no further than the Broncos #3 rank in pass defense DVOA. Combine it with the run D and a soft schedule to end the season, & I like our chances not just Sunday but almost every week from here on out.Horse TracksWhich borderline team has the easiest path to the NFL playoffs? Why the Cowboys’ 13-10 win vs. the Saints was the messiest NFL game of the yearWho is having the best rookie season from a crowded NFL running back class?2019 NFL Draft order: 49ers in line for top overall pick heading into Week 13NFL picks 2018, Week 13: Experts are all-in on road teams this weekNFL Panic Index 2018: The only thing the Panthers’ defense can stop is their playoff hopesDallas defense dominates Saints for signature winWilliams: Redskins unified on Reuben Foster claimQB Index, Week 13: Philip Rivers over Aaron RodgersAmari Cooper: Raiders weren’t using me the best way

After all, the Bears’ fan-base is full of some of the most intelligent and passionate fans in all of sports. Sure there are some meatballs out there, but you can’t deny their passion. And yes, there are a few cynical fans https://www.thebearsfanshop.com/James-Daniels-Jersey , but their negativity comes from a passionate place too. At the end of the day, we’re all Bears fans and we all want our team to win a championship. Today, I want you guys to tell us how you became a Bears fans in the comment section. We’ve done these in the past, but with so many new faces I wanted to get us all a refresher. I’ll go first, and since I’ve given my story on her a few times, I’ll make it brief. My first favorite team was the... Dallas Cowboys. Yes I know, but it was the 70’s and they were America’s Team. I didn’t know any better. But my cousin was a huge Cowboy fan too, so I had to switch my allegiance. No, not to the Bears, but to the Pittsburgh Steelers! Mean Joe Greene, Franco Harris Aaron Lynch Jersey , Terry Bradshaw, Lynn Swan, and the fact that they seemed to always be the Super Bowl champs made it an easy choice to annoy my cousin. But then my stepbrother told me that Franco Harris was soft and that I should cheer for a team with a tough as nails running back like Walter Payton. I ignored him for a while, but since I did live in Illinois, the Chicago Bears were on every week, so watching their games was easiest. It may have taken me a minute of really watching Sweetness run the ball that I opened my eyes and converted to a full fledged Bears fan. This was the early 80s, so the Bears hadn’t become the iconic 85 Bears yet, but watching Payton run was incredible. All eleven guys on defense knew that number 34 was getting the ball, but they couldn’t stop him. Payton made me a Bears fans. What’s your story?
The Cowboys-Panthers game drew 23.3 million viewers Sunday. That was the most of any show on TV for the week of Sept. 3-9.But the Cowboys ratings were down in Dallas-Fort Worth. The Cowboys drew a 28.2 rating locally https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/David-Mayo-Jersey , according to Barry Horn, formerly of the Dallas Morning News. That was the team’s lowest number in its home market since the Cowboys produced a 25.2 in 2009 for a game against the Bucs.Count Cowboys owner Jerry Jones as unconcerned.“First of all, I looked back since 2009 and we’ve opened against the Giants or the Washington Redskins six of those nine times. Five of them were on Sunday Night Football,” Jones said Friday on his weekly radio show on 105.3 The Fan. “All of that tends to give you a pretty good bar to work up against. The other teams we were playing were San Francisco, and we did play the Jets one time in there. The answer [to the question about whether he’s concerned] is no. As you know, we led the nation as far as the NFL, and we led the nation as far as programming watched. This viewership is very interesting https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/Devin-Funchess-Jersey , especially when it comes to your Cowboys because the Cowboys are literally the number one content or the number one entity in entertainment on television as far as drawing national audience. The NFL is very unique. We do about 75 percent of our audience nationally as opposed to other sports that do their 75 percent of their audience on a local basis. And I think that is one of the big keys in the interest in the NFL, but the Cowboys are number one, relatively speaking, in television that basically has a curious dynamic, or an interesting dynamic, and that is that the lesser viewers you have, if https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/Mario-Addison-Jersey , in fact, you dominate and are a bigger percentage of what it is being watched, then the more valuable you become. And that’s what happened over the years with the NFL, and that’s what’s happened with your Cowboys.”The Saints (40.6), Vikings (34.5), Broncos (33.8) and Seahawks (30.5) produced bigger ratings in their home market than did the Cowboys. Not only was it an unexciting game for Cowboys fans, as their team generated only 232 yards of total offense and trailed 16-0 until scoring with 8:51 remaining Marquis Haynes Jersey , but it wasn’t against one of their rivals. As Jones pointed out, the Cowboys have opened against the Giants or Washington six of the previous eight seasons, with the Jets and 49ers as their other opening-day opponents. The Cowboys have little history with the Panthers, so their fans have little hate for Carolina. Is Chase Winovich a good fit for them?EDTShareTweetShareShareFilm room scouting report on Michigan defensive end Chase WinovichRick Osentoski-USA TODAY SportsChase Winovich is a native of Jefferson Hills, Pa. and attended Thomas Jefferson High School. He was a four-star prospect according to Rivals. He committed to Michigan over Florida State, Pitt https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/Torrey-Smith-Jersey , and Virginia Tech. Winovich was a four-year letterman for the Wolverines and was well liked by his teammates and coaches as he was awarded the Bo Schembechler MVP team award in 2018. He finished his Michigan career with 45 tackles-for-loss, 18 sacks, and three forced fumbles. Winovich tested as an above average athlete. He was a 0.6 sigma athlete, which placed him in the 68.8th percentile according to SPARQ. More importantly, Winovich’s agility scores were outstanding. His 3-cone was 6.94 and the short shuttle was 4.11. Film reviewWinovich flashes active hands consistently. He can use this trait to stack and shed or use a counter on the offensive tackle. On each of these pass rushes, Winovich initially gets held up by the tackle. He uses his hands to disengage and force his way for a pressure. His pressure share in 2018 was 27.1% according to Sports Info Solutions. Winovich starts his rush outside, but then jabs his feet inside. He’s able to use a rip move to win. Unfortunately Dontari Poe Color Rush Jersey , the hit was penalized for roughing the passer. However, the important part is how Winovich used a rip move on the inside hand of the tackle. Winovich takes another inside route to the quarterback. He attacks the right arm of the offensive lineman, but shows a decent ability to convert speed to power. Winovich displays a stab and rip move as he forces the quarterback off his spot. His pass rush arsenal is not fully refined, but his rip move is effective. There were questions about Winovich’s athleticism. He answered those concerns at the Combine. Furthermore, his excellent agility scores show up on tape. Winovich has decent bend when he’s executing a speed rush. On each of these rushes, he has to convert speed to power as he engages with the offensive tackle. The dip and flexibility to turn the arc is highlighted on each rush. He doesn’t have a great first step though. This isn’t surprising as his vertical and broad jumps, which measure explosiveness are below average.Winovich’s athleticism is also on display when he’s in space against a running back. He closes down the space by taking the right angle and then his burst to hit high gear. As a run defender Jarius Wright Jersey , Winovich has a strong pop at the point of attack. He’s able to meet the pulling guard with plenty of force. He sheds the block and finishes the tackle for loss.Winovich has the length to easily stack and shed in the run game. He gets engaged with the blocker, but he’s able to utilize his hand use and leverage to shed the block. Winovich cleans up the run on the backside. Fit with CarolinaThe Panthers just signed Bruce Irvin to a one-year deal, but they still need to elevate their edge rushing talent. Their defensive line coach, Sam Mills III, attended Winovich’s pro day in Ann Arbor. It’s not surprising that there is mutual interest. Winovich is a twitchy edge rusher who plays with a high motor. In addition, he has the strength to set the edge or attack the ppint of attack in the run game. Winovich’s pre-draft rise reminds me of T.J. Watt a couple years ago. I doubt he’s available when the Panthers select in the second round, but if he is they have to send in the card ASAP.
Last week was about as insane as it gets with Purdue knocking off Ohio State and Washington State staking their claim for the PAC-12. It’s going to make for some exciting championship-caliber football games in the coming weeks. 3:30 PM ET - #9 Florida at #7 Georgia on CBS - Who will reign supreme in the SEC under the big lights of ‘College Gameday’?These two teams are both 4-1 in conference play and still in control of their own destinies despite having one loss. The Gators lost to Kentucky and the Bulldogs lost to LSU. Florida beat LSU just a few weeks ago and have a pretty opportunistic defense. Georgia will need to run the football in this game because that’s where they can maximize their potential to win. The problem is that the Bulldogs are hurting up front on the offensive line. What to expect: Georgia got outplayed by a hungry LSU team but I don’t see them losing this one. They are favored by a touchdown and expect them to win by seven in the emphatic Game of the Week!3:30 PM ET - #18 Iowa at #17 Penn State on ESPN- The Hawkeyes are much better than the Nittany Lions were hoping when this one was scheduledPenn State was supposed to be knocking on the door this season but have already lost two conference games. In walks 6-1 Iowa https://www.dallascowboysfanshop.com/Terrell-Owens-Jersey , whose only loss is to Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes have an intimidating defense and have found a passing offense with Nate Stanley. This game may not reach the 30’s on the scoreboard and Penn State has concerns on offense. Penn State has receivers dropping passes and questionable play-calling by their coordinator. Folks are pretty confident in Iowa taking this one:What to expect: Iowa is going to win this game in the fourth quarter by six when their defense makes a huge play.7 PM ET- #14 Washington State at #24 Stanford on PAC-12 Network - All the pressure is on Mike Leach and his Cougars to keep the pedal downLast week, we picked the Cougars to outplay the Ducks and we were right in that assessment. Now, the spotlight is on Washington State, and always entertaining head coach Mike Leach Tavon Austin Jersey , to win the PAC-12. The Washington Huskies are right behind them at #15 and aren’t going anywhere yet. In Stanford’s two losses, to both Notre Dame and Utah, they were decimated by an average of 20 points. Outside of those two losses, Stanford has been able to limit opponent’s scoring. The Cougars will need to keep bringing it in the red zone:What to expect: The Leach won’t fail us now Dorance Armstrong Jr. Jersey , expect them to be only the second team this year to put up 40 points on the Cardinal. 8 PM ET- #6 Texas at Oklahoma State on ABC - Sam Ehlinger returns for a possible BIG-12 barnburner in StillwaterThough Texas’ return to the top of the college world has been one of the best stories, they can’t afford to sleep on anyone. Fresh off their bye week, Sam Ehlinger returns to the lineup which is a huge positive for the Longhorns. Last time out, Shane Buechele was thrust into the starting role in the first quarter and they barely squeaked by the Baylor Bears. Ehlinger is the running game for Texas and without him Dalton Schultz Color Rush Jersey , they just weren’t the same on offense. Oklahoma State’s powerful offense can be hard to keep pace with. The Longhorns must protect Sam Ehlinger to be successful and the Cowboys pass rush are no slouches:What to expect: The Longhorns are not running away from anyone in this one but we’ll take them by four points in a Saturday shootout. Next week’s game with West Virginia will be a big decider in the BIG-12.You can find the entire slate of games here. All season long we’ve been tracking the confidence levels of Cowboys fans with SB Nation’s FanPulse tool. This has helped us figure out how those that root for America’s Team think and feel week to week. When it comes to life on a week to week basis, there are a few fundamental truths in sports and one of them rings truer than ever when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys this particular week: winning cures all. Just how cured are we? Let’s discuss.Cowboys fans might just actually believe in the team againLast week saw Cowboys fans hit a season-low when it comes to confidence. Losing in overtime against the Texans in what felt like a self-induced way will have that kind of impact. It’s not a coincidence that confidence from Cowboys fans jumps after the team wins, but a win like this is one probably should have had a bigger impact. Cowboys fans experienced the fourth-largest jump (26%) across all SB Nation fan bases, but beating a team like the Jaguars the way that they did was something that could have inspired more confidence.Perhaps Cowboys fans are just a little too scarred these days. That’s understandable. According to our poll here at BTB a majority of fans feel cautiously optimistic but want to see more from the team which could explain why things aren’t through the roof confidence-wise. Washington is down https://www.dallascowboysfanshop.com/Michael-Gallup-Jersey , Philly is up, and New York is a broken messWhen looking at the rest of the NFC East you’d imagine that everyone except for the Giants would be more inspired this week, but despite defeating the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 the world is looking at Redskins fans that feel less confident than a week ago. Grid View We could see the rest of the division look even more altered next week for a few reasons. Obviously the Cowboys play the Redskins and can impact how they both feel, the Eagles have the tough Panthers https://www.dallascowboysfanshop.com , and John Mara is talking about Odell Beckham Jr. needing to do more for the team so that surely will end well.
