‘Winning cures all’ is a popular saying in sports. And in the NFL where there are just 16 games per season Cheap Johnny Townsend Jersey , a win means a lot more than it does in say Major League Baseball or the NBA. But even in the NFL, when that win is put alongside a lot of losses, it doesn’t cure much. After week three, the Raiders were winless on the season, having collapsed in the second half of each game. At that point, fan confidence in the direction of the team had dipped to just 32%.They came back to Oakland to face the 1-1-1 Browns desperate to cobble together something. And they did. They won the game, end of story, yay!Not exactly. That win was about as tough as they come. They needed overtime to do it, and in that overtime period Derek Carr went over 400 yards passing, and Amari Cooper and Jared Cook both went over 100 yards receiving, joining Marshawn Lynch who went over 100 yards rushing. And the Raiders every yard of that to pull it out.The Raiders blew a lead several times to the Browns. And though the Browns are actually a pretty decent team this year, they had done their share of collapsing this season as well. They also had a rookie quarterback making his first start, and lost two of their top three cornerbacks during the game. With all this, the Raiders gave up 42 points and came within inches on an overturned first down run from dropping their 4th straight to start the Jon Gruden era. That defense is still a major concern while Khalil Mack is in Chicago winning NFC Defensive Player of the month honors. There were some positive signs in the win. Showing some resilience was huge for their confidence. The late game heroics were admirable and, who knows, it may just start something for them to have come back to win instead of fade away to lose.It may also be one of those things they will be facing every week with the odds of pulling out those wins stacked against them. This week’s FanPulse poll suggest the Raider Nation may have been encouraged by the Raiders getting their first win www.oaklandraidersteamonline.com , they’re still hesitant to jump in and say things have turned around. (Sign up here to take our weekly Raiders survey)Confidence level rose slightly this week, but just 6% to reach 38% after the first quarter. They will head to Los Angeles to play the Chargers Sunday, making for a pivotal game in terms of their season prospects. The Chargers are a pretty good team, but not unbeatable. Though they were the offseason favorite to win the AFC West, it’s hard to know exactly how good they are because their two wins were against bottom feeders in the Bills and 49ers while their two losses were to the league’s only undefeated teams; the Rams and Chiefs. What we do know is they have one of the league’s top offenses, having scored at least 23 points in every game this season and averaging nearly 28 points per game.Should the Raiders lose, they would fall to 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in the division. And fan confidence will rightfully tumble.Should the Raiders pull out a win, they will pull to within one game of .500, having beaten a very good team and division rival. If that were to happen, I fully expect the fan confidence to shoot up, especially with three of the most favorable part of the schedule upcoming with match-ups such as the Seahawks, Colts, 49ers and Cardinals. Beating up on bad out of division teams isn’t going to cut it. Gotta have this one in Los Angeles.Follow @LeviDamienJon Gruden says he ‘had nothing to do with’ negotiations with Khalil Mack but Raiders not ‘anywhere close’ to what Bears offered A day after the Raiders made the decision to ship off the best defensive player they’ve drafted in two decades, Jon Gruden was set to take to the podium to explain why. There were a few reasons given for trading Khalil Mack. Mostly it had to do with what the Raiders were willing to pay Mack wasn’t enough. But the Bears also made it interesting with their offer in trade.“The negotiation was what it was. It was tough. It was a long process,” said Gruden. “We talked about it daily, we made an offer Oakland Raiders T-Shirt , I don’t think we were anywhere close to where the Bears were and the Bears made us an offer of what we thought was really unique. Very, very tough to say goodbye to a great player, but here we are today.”The Bears gave Mack a 6-year extension that pays him an averaged of $23.5 million per season. Early reports this offseason had Mack’s people asking for $22 million, but clearly that changed when Aaron Donald got his $22.5 million deal. The main parts of the deal were two first round picks to Oakland for Mack and a second round pick. Why there was a second round pick in there along with Mack is anyone’s guess. But despite having just said “We talked about it daily, we made an offer” and coming in on a 10-year $100 million contract to have his hands on everything to do with this squad swears he said had nothing to do with the negotiations or the details of the trade.“I’m not gonna get into the negotiation,” said Gruden. “Reggie and Tom Delaney and the people that were negotiating were involved in that. I know there’s maybe some feelings that I was involved on a day-to-day negotiation, I had nothing to do with it. We were at a standoff. Something had to happen and here we are.”There were options instead of making this trade right now. They could have waited to see if Mack reported and force him to play out his contract or at least wait a while to get that deal. From there, there was the franchise tag which they had at their disposal to be used twice. That would ensure Mack were still with the team for the next three years at least. But Gruden says he didn’t see that scenario playing out well.“We have waited. We waited and waited and the Rams game was looming,” said Gruden. “Our feeling was he was not going to report anytime soon and like I said, I saw the Redskins go through it with Kirk Cousins, this long process. You can wait it out, you can franchise him, you can force him to play, but we made a decision and we’re going to stand by it.”Gruden also said his thought process was that had he waited until next offseason to make this deal, the Raiders wouldn’t have gotten two first round picks. Which, technically Oakland Raiders Hats , they didn’t even get that free and clear considering they had to include a second round pick as well.As for why the Raiders didn’t give Mack an extension, he deferred to the salary cap and unforeseen future spending and “a salary of that magnitude”, adding that it’s hard to pay Derek Carr his contract as well as what Khalil Mack wanted. “I don’t know how many teams have done that,” Gruden said of paying top dollar money for two players. “Aaron Donald got signed, they don’t have a quarterback that has been redone yet. The Bears made this trade, Trubisky’s still on his rookie deal. It’s tough when you have two players that are the highest paid or close to the highest paid at their positions. So, the economic part of it certainly weighs in. We’ve got free agents on our team that are gonna be [up] next year. We gotta find a way to bring them back. So you got to field a 53-man roster and there are some implications of having two players making that much money. That’s not mystery to anybody.”For what it’s worth, the 49ers were also said to be interested in trading for Mack and they just paid Jimmy Garroppolo big money this offseason. What that big money would be is another story. Carr’s only actual $25 million season is this year. He’s also not the highest paid QB in the league, he’s the 6th highest paid, and his cap amount next year — when Mack’s extension would kick in — drops to $22.5 million and continues to drop in subsequent years. The Bears didn’t add anything to Mack’s $13.8 million cap hit this year in how they structured his deal, but had the Raiders done that (They had over $8 million to play with) they could lower his cap number in future seasons as well putting the combined number between Mack and Carr around $40 million per season, which isn’t unreasonable. But, that’s neither here nor there now. The Raiders were unwilling to pay whatever it would have costed to keep Mack and preferred future draft picks instead. Now the Raiders must go into this season without their best defensive player and nothing to show for it until next year. And even then, we won’t see the fruits of that trade for a couple years. Despite promises they would do their damndest to win in Oakland before they split for Vegas in 2020.“It’s tough,” Gruden said of fielding the best possible team right away. “It wasn’t my goal to trade Khalil when we got here. One of the reasons I’m here is because of him.”That was one of the reasons Raiders fans wanted Gruden here as well. To hopefully take a cornerstone piece like Mack and bring this team to the next level. Now that celebrated 2014 draft upon which this team is built has lost a major piece of its foundation. And it could take a while to rebuild it.Follow @LeviDamien

Warren III could be ‘feature back’ in NFL We’ve seen Chris Warren III make some powerful runs this preseason for the Raiders. But it’s just the preseason. That fact didn’t stop Nate Burleson from making some bold statements about the undrafted rookie back.Burleson worked on the announcer crew for game against the Rams where Warren ran for 110 yards and a touchdown. It’s safe to say Youth Jared Cook Jersey , he came away suitably impressed.“Just visually, as a guy that’s seen running back, played against some of the best of all time, I said to myself, ‘you know what, this guy’s gonna make the team, there’s no question. He’s going to be amazing, he’s going to be one of those guys that climbs up the depth chart, he’s going to be a household name very soon,” said Burleson. The former NFL receiver quickly noted the same things Jon Gruden pointed out with regard to Warren doing the little things like picking up the blitz as giving him pause when predicting he will make the roster right away. And as a back who is third or fourth on the depth chart, special teams come into play as well.“It’s an intriguing storyline, because I want to know where he lands,” Burleson continued. “Is he going to make the team? Are they going to try to put him on practice squad? Because if they do that. other teams will say ‘Ohohoho, wait a minute, let me pluck this guy right off the roster.’ So, I’m going to keep my eyes on him, because no joke he is that real that he could be a feature back in this league. The question is, does he have the other intangibles to make him a starting back?”Burleson added that Warren was “Strong. . . Old school running back.” Which I suppose makes sense considering Warren’s father was a Pro Bowl NFL back in the 90’s.Warren has been quite a storyline in Raider Nation this preseason. He is among those who head into the final preseason game in a bubble battle.Follow @LeviDamienThe Morning After: Huge win against Browns propels Raiders into easiest part of their schedule Wow. What a bizarre and emotionally draining game, this one took every scratch of the nail to get. The back and forth was incredible, frustrating but incredible. It was a lot of fun when the relief of the final whistle finally came though, Derek Carr and his squad earned this one. That of course is not the universal feeling about the Raiders in this game outside of Raider Nation Womens P.J. Hall Jersey , there is a fair amount of controversy surrounding it thanks to some questionable officiating. More specifically thanks to a completely blown call on an obvious fumble from Derek Carr and a 3rd down play reversal on where they spotted the ball. The former is something very much worthy of complaining about, but the latter was actually a good call by the refs. It was a crazy reversal when it happened, it didn’t seem possible that he was short at all and it felt like another gaff from the refs. However, thanks to Silver & Black Pride community member stormtrooper2817’s FanPost, I am very happy to sayI think it was a good call. You can’t really blame Browns fans for being peeved at that call, but this picture looks pretty definitive to me. However, the early whistle on the Derek Carr fumble was legitimately egregious. That was a completely unacceptable mistake from the refs to call Carr down in the grasp (unreviewable by the way) when the ball was knocked out immediately on the play. It worked out for Raiders fans so we certainly won’t be complaining about it, but that was straight up awful officiating. The refs actually had two other plays that were early whistles too, which normally is an oddity that doesn’t even happen once a game let alone three times. The other two were both against the Raiders too, once on a Seth Roberts catch that certainly looked like he got up before he was touched down and once on a Marshawn Lynch run where he was still breaking tackles when he was called down. The Seth Roberts play happened too quick and there wasn’t a replay of it to be sure if it was a quick whistle or not, but the Marshawn Lynch play definitely should have been allowed to continue. He had a lot of space in front of him if he was allowed to keep running through his tackler on that play, and then the refs screwed up again by not penalizing him for kicking the ball in anger. Enough about the refs though, let’s talk more about Marshawn Lynch instead because damn did he have a good game. He has been running hard all season long but he took it to another level this game with his power. Every time he had the ball he was punishing tacklers, it was truly glorious. Lynch had 20 carries for 130 yards and he added 3 catches for 27 yards, and one of those runs was a 52 yard beauty. As much credit as Beastmode deserves on that sweep run, the person who actually deserves the most praise on the play was Martavis Bryant. He blocked his initial assignment to the ground early in the run and then turned into Lynch’s lead blocker after that. His running ahead of Lynch and blocking another would be tackler extended the run for an extra 20 yards or so.Derek Carr also deserves credit for his monster game, completing 35 of 58 passes for 437 yards and 4 touchdowns. It wasn’t all good though because he had two more ugly interceptions on deep balls that he probably shouldn’t have thrown and the earlier mentioned fumble that the refs screwed up on. Still, Carr had some huge drives in this one bringing the Raiders back from a 14 point deficit when the game was 28-14 and then leading the Raiders down to tie the game at the end of regulation with a touchdown pass to Jared Cook and a 2-point conversion to Jordy Nelson. It was great to see some of the 2016 magic come back to him, especially after blowing 4th quarter leads in all three of the previous games. The defense has also looked very good much of the time this season but they are just getting killed by big plays. It’s ridiculous how many huge plays they have given up so far this season, and this game was no different. Out of the 5 touchdowns they gave up against the Browns, 3 of them were from 40 yards or more and one was set up by a 59 yard reception down to the 1 yard line.As long as they weren’t being gashed ridiculously Womens Leon Hall Jersey , they were actually playing really well. You can’t give them much credit for that when they gave up 42 points, but big plays are something that can be fixed easier than just being completely decimated by long drives over and over again. They also had 2 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries, both recovered by newly acquired DT Johnathan Hankins. One of those interceptions was returned for a touchdown by Gareon Conley.Last but not least to mention, how about them pass catchers in this one. Jared Cook has been a monster all year for the Raiders and that continued here with 8 catches for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns. However, he got help this game from Amari Cooper who had 8 catches for 128 yards and a TD, Jordy Nelson who had 5 catches for 48 yards and a TD, and Martavis Bryant who had 3 catches for 51 yards.Bryant should have had another touchdown too, though that drive eventually turned into one of Jared Cook’s 2 touchdowns anyway. Bryant showed off his world class speed by eviscerating the Browns coverage for what should have been a wide open touchdown but he got himself tangled up trying to slow down for the ball and dropped the easy score. That play was definitely on Martavis Bryant, but Carr needs to throw that ball on a line instead of having so much air under it that Bryant had to slow down for it. No excuse though, Bryant needs to make that play anyway because the ball hit him in the hands beautifully when it did finally come back to earth.Overall though, what an exciting game and huge win for the Raiders. They really needed this win, especially with their most important stretch of the season coming up. The Raiders have the Chargers in L.A. next (overrunning an opponents stadium is huge motivation), then the struggling Seahawks, the Colts at home and the 49ers (again likely overrunning opponents stadium). If the Raiders can go 3 and 1 over those 4 games they suddenly would be back to being a .500 team. That is entirely possible with that schedule, but if they had lost this game against the Browns there would be no confidence even going into that stretch. However, beating a Browns team by putting up 45 points on their normally very good defense is something that can propel this team forward. If they can win next week in L.A. especially, the momentum would be huge.We will see, but for now let’s just be happy not to be included in the winless teams in the NFL category any more. The Raiders got their first victory in the Gruden 2.0 era, we get to celebrate that and hopefully now the team can have a little less pressure going forward. You can’t get multiple victories under your belt until you get the first one, and they finally got the first one now in Week 4.

Here are some of our quick Youth Keanu Neal Jersey , happy takeaways from Tuesday’s game. Then we turn our baleful gaze to the Saints tomorrow. DWOffense showed great promise, but the defense is concerningThe offense we all hoped for finally showed up in a big way against the Panthers. The creativity and execution were spot-on for most of the game and it came against a defense that has typically given us issues. However, that good news was offset by the reality that replacing Deion Jones and Keanu Neal is not going to be an easy endeavor. Duke Riley struggled throughout the game and the defense as a whole let the Panthers creep back in late in the fourth quarter. I’m not writing off the defense just yet, but there’s clearly work to do if they’re even going to finish as a top-20 ish defense for the season.Kevin KnightI think we all expected the defense to take a fairly significant step back after the losses of Keanu Neal and Deion Jones. What we didn’t know was whether or not the offense would step up to the plate and make up the difference. At least for one week, that was the case, with Ryan playing a great game, Calvin Ridley making a big contribution, and the duo of Tevin Coleman and Ito Smith looking excellent. There are still pieces on the defense that keep it from being a huge liability, but they’ll need to continue to show growth in the coming weeks. Expecting and/or needing the offense to score 30+ points a week is not a recipe for sustained success.Matt ChambersFootball is only fun when the Falcons are good.My biggest takeaway is I love watching the Falcons play great football. There were still a ton of problems that will definitely continue throughout the season, but I don’t think that matters right now. Atlanta beat one of the better teams in the league, and at times looked dominant. That was fun as hell, and the offense showed they could get it together. James Rael This team is just gonna keep on keepin on. That was a fun game to watch. I’d be lying if I said I’m not concerned about the defense going forward, because the Falcons will surely face teams more talented than the Carolina Panthers this season. But the entire team, all three phases, showed a lot of heart yesterday. Matt Ryan attempted to channel Michael Vick during that leaping touchdown, which I hope he never does again. (Unless a Super Bowl victory hangs in the balance Youth Austin Hooper Jersey , in which case he’s free to get as acrobatic as he wishes.) Ryan effectively shut down anyone doubting his abilities and Calvin Ridley officially introduced himself to the National Football League. For now I’m going to enjoy the win and convince myself there’s no way the Falcons could possibly lose to the Saints on Sunday. TorgoDivision games are critical, and we won.We knew it would be tough for the defense to play without Keanu Neal and Deion Jones. We weren’t expecting them to play without Damontae Kazee as well, or for the offense to be without Andy Levitre. But the Falcons got it done and came away from the first of the six divisional games with a “W”, and for now that’s all that matters. The play that jumped out at me most was the cringe-inducing fumble in the red zone late in the game. That sort of thing is exactly what killed the Falcons in the red zone last year, and for that matter all the way back to the later years under Mike Smith. We’ve seen that movie too many times - the other team recovers, drives down the field to tie the game and goes on to win. But this time, Atlanta recovered its own fumble and punched in what turned out to be the game-deciding score. Maybe our luck is changing.Cory Woodroof R-E-L-A-X The Falcons offense looked like it should look with this myriad of talent Sunday, and the Falcons defense looked like it was probably going to with its myriad of injuries. Really, this is what you can, or should, expect from Atlanta until Deion Jones gets back. He’s that crucial to what they’re trying to do on defense that it’s going to be mightily hard to hold teams back to much of anything in crunch time without him on the field. They could win out in agonizing fashion to his return if they keep playing and coaching on offense like this, though. They looked sharp as a tack. For now, enjoy the win, and wrap your favorite Falcon in bubble wrap. Dave ChoateThis win was a good sign, but the 2018 Falcons are still a work in progress. The Falcons needed to win this game and did. At the end of the day, that’s the most essential thing Womens Andy Levitre Jersey , and no matter how injured Carolina might have been, Atlanta was also banged up and managed to triumph. The offense looked as good as it will need to be, the defense looked very much like a work in progress minus two of its best players, and the Falcons were good enough to grab a narrow victory. We don’t know if this is going to be the norm, especially with more Falcons injured, but we do know the offense isn’t going to swoon all year after an encouraging performance against a quality defense. If the D can tread water until Jones gets back, it’ll be time to get excited again.Falcons vs Eagles: Who is the offensive player of the game? As we start up a new series for the 2018 regular season, I was truly hoping this would be an article with multiple candidates from week to week. Unfortunately, the Falcons offense gave us the kind of game where the candidates ranged from “LOL NO” to “oh God, are you kidding?” This week, the only reasonable candidate in my mind is Julio Jones.Julio finished the game with 10 receptions for 169 yards and a single carry for 11 yards. Those numbers should be higher, except the NFL still doesn’t know what a catch looks like in 2018. He was nearly impossible to stop all night and was the only target Matt Ryan appeared to trust on the evening. Some other candidates I gave consideration to: Uh, maybe Devonta Freeman? Tevin Coleman had a few nice plays. Oh God, this is so awful and not at all how I hoped this would go. Who do you think the offensive player of the game was? Participate in our poll (LOL) below:

On first glance Womens Customized Atlanta Falcons Jerseys , the Falcons’ offensive performance against the Panthers appeared to be one of the strongest — if not the strongest — yet against a very good defense. However, we can often get swept up in the emotion of watching our team succeed, so I decided to re-watch the entire game to see if it held up under closer scrutiny. The good news is this: I actually came away more impressed with what Steve Sarkisian and Matt Ryan did in the game. In fact, what we saw in this game could be the turning point for Sark as a play caller. This offense looked far more like the 2016 version than anything Sarkisian did in 2017, including the trouncing of Green Bay back in Week 2 of the 2017 season. This was a highly encouraging performance that I hope the team builds on. Here’s what I saw that made me believe we can all be cautiously optimistic going forward.Sarkisian’s use of motion and play-buildingOne of my biggest complaints about the play calling in 2017 was that it didn’t utilize motion much and it didn’t build on plays throughout the game. Last night finally executed on both of those concepts. Pre-snap motion was a huge part of the 2016 offense. It has multiple benefits. It gives the QB an idea of what coverage he’s facing. It can also put an offensive player in a better matchup depending on the coverage you do see. It can also put the defense in a pickle if they’re trying to disguise their coverage. The Falcons used it extensively on Sunday, and it almost always paid off. In fact, I quit counting the number of times they used pre-snap motion, because it was happening on almost every single play. The play-building concept is simple: show the defense formations early that you use later in the game but for a different purpose. Shanahan was brilliant with this, as he’d often set up a defense to expect a run in a TE-heavy formation then pass out of it later for big gains. Sarkisian didn’t do this effectively in 2017, but he did it several times against the Panthers. This wasn’t perfect, but it was clear he had a much better idea of how to set up the defense to bite on those earlier looks. If Steve Sarkisian can execute on this even better, this is something that could pay off with more of the big, explosive plays we got used to seeing in 2016.Using guys correctlyThis was a big criticism of the 2017 season: Guys were not being used to their strengths. That was clearly not the case on Sunday. Tevin Coleman and Ito Smith were smartly used in the passing game. Mohamed Sanu and Justin Hardy were used a good bit for their excellent run and pass blocking skills. Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley were used for their tight route running and break away speed, especially on crossers that lets them get away from defenders. Austin Hooper was given one-on-one match-ups with linebackers and targeted specifically in those situations. Additionally, the offense did not try to force feed Julio throughout the game. They spread the ball around — another staple of the 2016 offense — and took advantage of the matchups they felt they had the advantage with. Perfect example: On the TD pass to Calvin Ridley, they clearly thought Ridley’s route running would win against the rookie CB for the Panthers — and it absolutely did.Better executionWhile this may not seem like something directly attributable to Sark, it absolutely speaks to the confidence and preparedness the offense had going into the game. The entire team cleaned up on the penalties from last week and the overall execution was far tighter. Part of the offensive coordinator’s job is to have his unit prepared and confident in the plan, and it was clear that was the case on Sunday. Some final random observationsAustin Hooper is fantastic at selling his pick plays. He did it several times throughout the game to great effect.Wes Schweitzer had a much better game than I realized. Looked very comfortable at LG.I didn’t have a problem with the wildcat call. If Luke Kuechly is blocked and Sanu hands off, that gains a bunch of yards easily. The play action calls were called at the right time and seemed to be very effective. The Hooper TD was a great design. RB in the flat (for an easy first down) was option two if the CB stayed deep with the TE. Gave Hoop a one-on-one with the LB, which he won easily. While I don’t want to get too excited, it’s hard to not see the progress Sarkisian made in this game. He absolutely needs to build on this and continue to execute on these same principles. If he does, this Falcons offense could be a Top 10 — and maybe even Top 5 — unit once again.Falcons 7 - Dolphins 34 final score: A form of eye torture in some countries Atlanta’s deep reserves largely got the stuffing knocked out of them against the Dolphins, which was both disappointing and sort of expected. The Falcons now have to sift through the tape from that awful effort and figure out who belongs on the roster and practice squad. That doesn’t seem like it’ll be an easy task. The offense was led by Malik Williams, who did a solid job, and basically no one else. Kurt Benkert looked mediocre, Justin Crawford struggled www.falconscheapshops.com , Reggie Davis had a nightmare game, and the offensive line utterly failed to block well throughout. The defense was a little better, but only a little, with a handful of sacks and quality plays and some very bad angles and missed tackles throughout the evening. It was a pretty dismal effort, but thankfully, it came with mostly players who will never see the field for Atlanta this season. Now the question is who won the remaining few jobs, especially the returner gigs, and I don’t know that we got a lot closer to answering that, which has been the maddening part of this entire summer. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait long to find out. Here’s the drive-by-drive breakdown, which is abbreviated at times due to genuine frustration and boredom. First QuarterThe Falcons didn’t start things off right. Sadly. Despite some nice tackles by Emmanuel Ellerbe and Jonathan Celestin, the Dolphins had little trouble moving down the field on their first drive, overcoming a fourth and short to score the game’s first touchdown.Falcons 0 - Dolphins 7Atlanta showed their intent to get Justin Crawford involved early on, and the back picked up six yards on two carries (and returned a kick) before Kurt Benkert whiffed on a third down pass behind a horrendous backup line. David Marvin punt. The Dolphins had to chuck the ball into the dirt and Brock Osweiler was almost picked off, but poor tackling once again put the Falcons in a deep hole, and the Dolphins had little trouble scoring.Falcons 0 - Dolphins 14A Reggie Davis drop, an incomplete pass, and a sack where Matt Gono got destroyed ended the next drive before it really started. Punt. The Falcons got the stop on the next drive, with Anthony Winbush getting a sack and a couple of solid plays in coverage to put the brakes on the Dolphins. Punt. The Falcons got a Matt Gono holding penalty and then a tipped Kurt Benkert interception. The Dolphins scored almost immediately, going seven yards on two plays.Falcons 0 - Dolphins 21The Falcons got moving a little thanks to Malik Williams running reasonably well and catching a pass from Kurt Benkert for a first down. That marked the end of the first quarter.Second QuarterThe Falcons called a toss sweep and Williams lost a yard. Turnover on downs. The Dolphins attacked the flats and the Falcons politely declined to cover them, leading for some very easy movement down the field for David Fales and the Dolphins offense. Fortunately, they stalled out close to the goal line, in parts thanks to some nice plays by Emmanuel Smith at linebacker. The Dolphins settled for a short field goal.Falcons 0 - Dolphins 24The Falcons stalled out after an early penalty despite a couple of nice, zippy passes from Kurt Benkert. Punt. The Dolphins stalled out and tried a long field goal from Jason Sanders, which they missed. Falcons ball. The Falcons weren’t able to do much with their drive as Benkert once again scuffled and Gono struggled in pass protection. Punt.Atlanta’s defense did get the job done, with a Justin Zimmer pressure highlighting a three and out. Punt.Benkert missed two passes and Malik Williams picked up two yards on his sole run. David Marvin punt. The Dolphins looked lousy but then managed to pick up the first on a David Fales scramble. The drive was mercifully ended by promising UDFA Chris Lammons Atlanta Falcons T-Shirt , who intercepted Fales. Nice job, Chris Lammons. The Falcons turned that into points. A nice Devin Gray catch and an eight yard touchdown run by Malik Williams got the job done.Falcons 7 - Dolphins 24The Dolphins kneeled us into halftime. Third QuarterThe Dolphins couldn’t do much on their first drive, and a 3rd and 17 sack by Garrison Smith put the nail in their coffin. The Falcons got moving with some nice runs by Malik Williams, including a 19 yarder, and a sweet pass from Benkert to Jaeden Graham that took the Falcons 23 yards downfield. The team still ultimately fizzled out around midfield, forcing a punt. The Dolphins got a couple of nice runs from /squintsSome guy named Radcliff, but failed to convert a first down. Punt. The Falcons had lost Malik Williams for the night at this point due to a shoulder injury, but Terrance Magee picked up 10 on his first carry of the drive. Unfortunately, Benkert was sacked shortly thereafter and one thing leading to another led to David Marvin punting. The Dolphins attempted to rescue us from Puntsville with a long, excruciating drive that featured multiple Brock Osweiler scrambles, and they did end up scoring a touchdown on an Osweiler pass. Sigh.Falcons 7 - Dolphins 31Fourth QuarterThe Falcons put Garrett Grayson in the game, but thanks to a drop and a middling Justin Crawford run, his scramble was for naught. Punt. Run, throw, but you’ll never rise from the depths of preseason football, Dolphins. Punt. The Falcons got a couple of solid passes in, but were still forced to punt. David Marvin actually punted well all game, if you’re into that sort of thing. The Dolphins got enough momentum going to get a long Jason Sanders field goal. At this point in the game, the numbers had ceased to matter.Falcons 7 - Dolphins 34Justin Crawford picked up 11 yards on one of his finest runs of the summer, but the Falcons still flamed out and had to punt. The Dolphins tried and failed to bring us to the end of the game, but they at least ran time off the clock. Punt. The Falcons ran it with Magee a handful of times and ended this game, mercifully. Remember: Preseason doesn’t matter much, and the fourth preseason game doesn’t matter at all. One week until actual football games!

The Falcons dropped an important division game to our rival New Orleans Saints in a shoot-out that surprised no one. That said http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/robert-alford-jersey , it’s not often that your QB can put up over 370 yards with 5 TDs and no turnover and still lose the game. It was a frustrating loss that fans will undoubtedly analyze deeply over the next week. Here are the takeaways from the game. The offense and Calvin Ridley are for realA week after putting up 31 points on a good Carolina defensive front, the Falcons put up an impressive 37 points against another good defensive front. People will talk about some of the lost opportunities, but it is hard to argue with 37 points from your offense, including near perfection in the red zone. Any concerns that Calvin Ridley would disappear also were quickly dispensed. He absolutely torched the Saints with 7 receptions for 146 yards and 3 touchdowns. On a day where the opposing team sold out to stop Julio, Ridley showed he can punish them for doing so. It’s an amazing one-two punch that we’ll need to survive the potential demise of a once promising defense. This defense could end up as one of the worst in the leagueI know people don’t like excuses, but the Falcons are decimated on defense. This team is literally down four starters now and we eagerly await the status of Ricardo Allen. If he is out for significant time, every leader on this defense will be sitting on the bench. The Falcons will have lost both starting safeties, our starting middle linebacker and our starting defensive end. That is just too much for any team to overcome and it could result in a defense that is gashed regularly, as they were today. The team won’t face Drew Brees every week, but this could be a painful stretch of football http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/jake-matthews-jersey , especially with the hopes and expectations fans came into this season with. It’s not over ... yetIf the Falcons offense can continue to play this way, they will keep this team in a lot of games. If they can survive long enough, they should get back some key guys on defense that could slow down the hemorrhaging. It’s not an ideal scenario, and the margin for error is perilously thin, but the season is far from over.Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Friday, Oct. 5 You can’t stop the links. Calvin Ridley is bringing home the awardsRemember after week 1 when Calvin Ridley got zero action against the Philadelphia Eagles? Things have changed a lot since then. Ridley brought home the coveted Offensive Rookie of the Month award for his 264 received yards and 6 (!) touchdowns.ROLL TIDE!Ridley looked far and away the top offensive playmaker of the draft so far. He’s so good that those goons over at Cat Scratch Reader want Panthers fans to leave D.J. Moore alone! They think comparing Moore, taken before Ridley, is unfair. I say it’s a good comparison, especially since Ridley is so much better.Jeanna’s on TV again for more Falcoholic contentThe Falcoholic is taking over all media until you can’t escape us. Jeanna’s mailbag is again on TV and you should definitely watch for secrets to beating the Steelers.Analytics battle! What do PFF numbers show us about Sunday’s game?David Walker looked at PFF’s numbers to find out which positions have the edge. Of course, if you’ve seen the Steelers defense Authentic Keanu Neal Jersey , you probably have a good sense where this is ending up.Biggest homers: New Orleans Saints fansSB Nation polled NFC South fans, and you won’t believe which team has the biggest homers. No wait, you probably don’t need to see the results to know it’s Saints fans. The sacrifices are still churningAfter another tough loss, we sent Desmond Trufant to the ol’ lake of fire. Takk respects Ben Roethlisberger, but definitely not too muchDan Quinn thinks loud music is getting in the way of the defenseApparently Deion Jones was so good that he was able to get the plays out to other players with the practice DJ. The defense has looked lost, so the DJ is the first thing to go. I mean, it can’t get worse, can it?

The assistant head coach is gone Authentic Louis Domingue Jersey , but head coach Marvin Lewis is coming back for a 16th try at a playoff victory. And so it goes in Cincinnati. In a what-have-you-done-lately league, the Bengals remain the outlier. Lewis met with the media on Wednesday, a day after getting a two-year extension through 2019, and talked in general terms about how his team needs to change. Better players. Better coaching. Better performance. All the things he’s said many times during the second-longest active coaching tenure in the NFL, behind only Bill Belichick. Unlike the New England coach, who has five Super Bowl titles, Lewis has yet to win a playoff game. But owner Mike Brown hates change and was willing to give Lewis yet another chance after yet another futile season. The 82-year-old owner didn’t attend the news conference – he rarely addresses the media – so it was left to Lewis to explain why he was still there. ”You’re going to have to start from scratch regardless, so you might as well start from scratch with someone you understand, you know,” Lewis said. ”Everybody can always look at what’s negative from it, but the only way we can go about it and do it positive is to get back to work and go about it.” One change: Lewis wanted more control over the coaching staff and evidently got it. Paul Alexander, the assistant head coach and offensive line coach for 23 seasons, was let go. Bill Lazor, who was elevated to offensive coordinator after an 0-2 start last season, will remain in the role and get a chance to redesign the NFL’s worst offense in the offseason. Defensive coordinator Paul Guenther will interview for the job with the Raiders http://www.officiallightningprostore.com/authentic-adidas-mikhail-sergachev-jersey , making it likely Lewis will have to find a replacement. Lewis has defied the odds and kept his job, and he’s not the only odds-beater in Ohio. The 0-16 Browns have retained head coach Hue Jackson for another season as well. The Browns and Bengals have played a total of 64 games the past two seasons and won 14 collectively, yet neither team is changing head coaches. Must be something in that icy Lake Erie and Ohio River water. In Cincinnati, fans were still trying to wrap their heads around Marvin Lewis 16.0, with a few upgrades to fix some of the many bugs in the program. Lewis said Brown wants to win a championship, and that’s why he decided to keep Lewis in charge despite his record so far. Lewis is 0-7 in the playoffs, an NFL record for coaching futility. His teams lost five straight opening-round games from 2011-15, another record. The Bengals haven’t won a playoff game since the 1990 season, the sixth-longest streak of futility in league history. Brown decided that Lewis was the best choice, regardless of what’s happened in the past 15 years. ”I tell people when you go to a car lot, you know what you’re looking for and they’re not going to sway you one way or another, that’s what you’re going to do,” Lewis said. ”I believe that about (NFL owners).” During the news conference, a media member relayed questions from fans, including one from a woman named Betty Lou at a chili parlor in northern Kentucky about the team’s commitment to winning. One of Lewis’ jobs in his latest incarnation will be trying to win back Betty Lou and many other fans who gave up on him. Bengals’ attendance plummeted last season to one of the lowest in the league. They had 10 Bart Starr Jersey ,000 empty seats for a home game against the rival Steelers. Paul Brown Stadium was half-empty for the final home game. Bringing Lewis back and rearranging the staff won’t create a surge in ticket sales. Brown chose to stay in his comfort zone rather than trying something different. ”I think sometimes there’s a tendency to think that the grass is greener, and it doesn’t necessarily end up that way often,” Lewis said, referring to NFL owners. ”So I think if they feel good about the relationship they have and where they’re headed that way, I think it’s a little different that way.” — At the time the score looked like a misprint. Jacksonville 30. Pittsburgh 9 . On the road. A result so stunningly one-sided Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger stood in the locker room on that gray October afternoon only half-jokingly wondered if he still had ”it.” Throwing five interceptions, two of which the Jaguars returned for momentum-swinging, confidence-sapping touchdowns, will do that. Yet Roethlisberger insists he’s not out for revenge in the rematch on Sunday when the Jaguars (11-6) visit Heinz Field in the divisional round with a trip to the AFC title game on the line. There’s too much at stake for him to settle some sort of personal vendetta. Or so he says. ”I’ll play anyone in the postseason,” Roethlisberger said. Only Jacksonville isn’t ”anyone.” Not anymore. Not after the NFL’s top-ranked defense proved that breakout performance three months ago was a sign of things to come. The Jaguars don’t play a particularly pretty brand of football. They also don’t particularly care. Doubt them all you want. Mock their offense at your leisure. Last they checked, there will be 24 teams watching the playoffs this weekend and Jacksonville isn’t one of them. ”We’ve just got to score one more point than they do,” Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles said. ”It doesn’t matter who scores it, where it comes from, how we do it, what it looks like, we score one more than them and I’m happy with how we did it.” Bortles and the other 52 guys on the roster might be the only ones. The Steelers (13-3) entered the season as one of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl. Despite a fall filled with drama (much of it self-created) Pittsburgh was really only pushed around once. By the Jaguars. Take Jacksonville lightly at your peril Brett Favre Jersey , something the Steelers found out on Oct. 8. ”Some people come in thinking a team may be easier by their record or tougher by their record, but we know that can’t be on our mind,” Pittsburgh running back Le’Veon Bell said. ”I think that kind of got us in the first game because the Jacksonville Jaguars, they’re normally not a good team but those guys got players this year. They’ve been making plays.” If the Jaguars can do it for another 60 minutes, they’ll reach the NFL’s final four for just the third time in franchise history. Yes, really. Some things to look for as the Jaguars try to pull off a second stunner against a team that believes its season is destined to end with a trip to Minneapolis for the Super Bowl. AB’s BACK: Pittsburgh All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown is expected to play after missing the final 2+ games of the regular season with a left calf contusion. Brown practiced all week, though he was sent home on Friday because of an illness. Brown caught 10 passes for 157 yards in the first meeting with Jacksonville and his return means all of Pittsburgh’s ”Killer Bs” will be ready to go. ”If he’s out there, I expect him to be AB,” Steelers cornerback Joe Haden said. LEONARD’S LEAP: Jaguars rookie running back Leonard Fournette hammered the Steelers for a season-high 181 yards in October, including a 2-yard touchdown leap and a 90-yard sprint to the end zone in the final two minutes that sealed it. Fournette’s production has dipped in recent weeks. He’s only averaged higher than 3.9 yards per carry once over the past eight weeks, though Bortles doesn’t think Fournette has smacked into the rookie wall. ”There has obviously been some hiccups and bumps in the road with different things,” Bortles said. ”It’s not on him, it’s on guys up front, it’s on me getting us in the right play, receivers blocking. It’s on everyone.” CHILL OUT DUDE: Temperatures are expected to be in the teens at kickoff Authentic Randall Cobb Jersey , a decided departure for the Jaguars. While Jacksonville coach Doug Marrone downplayed the elements, Bell believes he has an advantage when the mercury drops. A year ago against Miami in the wild-card round, he pounded the Dolphins for 167 yards and two touchdowns as the temperature hovered around 17 degrees. ”It definitely affects guys who are tackling,” Bell said. ”That’s why when it’s cold outside I take a lot of pride because I know guys don’t want to tackle.” COACH SHAY: Injured Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier spent some time at the team’s facility this week, getting around in a wheelchair while recovering from spinal stabilization surgery last month following a hit against Cincinnati that left his lower body motionless. Shazier’s presence has provided the Steelers with a boost, and while his football career is likely over, he remains intent on finding a way to contribute. Shazier, who would get to work as early as 6 a.m. to break down film when he was playing, is now serving as equal parts advance scout and motivational speaker. ”He loves football so much,” guard David DeCastro said. ”It’s amazing to see and just to have the attitude he has after all he’s been through man, it’s pretty impressive. I don’t know if I’d be able to do the same.” —

Jordan Phillips on Tuesday in the wake of his angry sideline outburst after he came out of a lopsided loss at New England."Free at last free at last Color Rush Graham Glasgow Jersey ," Phillips wrote in an Instagram post that was later deleted. "Good luck to my brothers on the team. I'll miss ya'll, but I couldn't be happier to be out of there. ... Sometimes you got to put your future in your own hands and live with it."Phillips and the rest of Miami's front four were dominated in Sunday's 38-7 loss to the Patriots, who rushed for 175 yards.Phillips said his flare-up during the game didn't play a role in his release."Just here to squash this sideline outburst stuff.... this move had nothing to do with that," he tweeted. The Dolphins (3-1) had the day off and didn't discuss the reason for the move. Malveaux played in four games as a rookie last year.Phillips was a second-round draft pick in 2015 who has 26 starts and developed a reputation as an inconsistent underachiever. Brought in as a late camp signing, Moore didn’t have a lot of time to get up to speed and try to earn a roster spot. The Lions were Moore’s seventh team, with the New Orleans Saints being his most recent stop prior to signing with the Lions on August 20.
