A couple of interceptions simply sailed on Mariota this season, like the first one in Pittsburgh that went over wide receiver Rishard Matthews’ head. Rookie wide receiver Corey Davis took the blame for two interceptions.

Mariota said Davis doesn’t have to say that at all because he’s the quarterback throwing the ball.

”Really when it comes down to it, if I can be smarter with the football,” Mariota said. ”I think every quarterback when they’re sitting back there thinks they can make every throw, and sometimes it’s better to either take off and maybe get a few yards or even get a sack. Those are things that I learned and I’ll continue to get better at them.”

The Titans have given Mariota more responsibility at the line of scrimmage to switch plays. But Davis, the fifth pick overall out of Western Michigan, has only played five games this season due to a hamstring injury#3# and veteran Eric Decker didn’t join the team until training camp.


The combination has Mariota ranked 27th among NFL quarterbacks with a 79.9 passer rating; 20th with 2,089 yards passing; and tied for 29th in TD passes. Yet Mariota has led the Titans on three game-winning drives this season.

Matthews said it’s impressive how Mariota bounces back as a competitor.

”Whether it’s going good or bad, he’s pretty even-keeled,” Matthews said. ”And his only focus is to go out there and put us in the best position to make plays and make the plays that are there.”

Mariota should have a chance to bounce back against a Colts defense that ranks 30th, allowing 274.5 yards passing per game.

Colts coach Chuck Pagano has seen Mariota as much as any NFL coach, and he sees a quarterback looking more comfortable and making good decisions despite the performance in Pittsburgh. Pagano said everyone has some struggles in the NFL.

”That’s how it is in the National Football League,” Pagano said. ”He had a tough day against the Steelers#4# and you’ve got to credit the defense and things like that. He’s making great decisions, he’s a great manager, competitive guy, we know what an athlete he is.”

WASHINGTON， June 21 (Xinhua) -- Senior officials from China and the United States on Tuesday urged the world's two largest economies to conclude their investment treaty talks to promote two-way investment and strengthen bilateral economic ties.


"Last week， a new round of negotiations (on the bilateral investment treaty) was held in Washington D.C.， and the two sides exchanged their negative list offers for the third time， which is another major step forward，" Wu Xi， Minister of Chinese Embassy in the United States， said at the 2016 SelectUSA Reception， co-hosted by the embassy and the China General Chamber of Commerce-USA (CGCC)， which represents Chinese enterprises in the United States.


A negative list outlines sectors closed to foreign investment. The last time the two sides exchanged such lists was in early September last year.


A total of 25 rounds of investment treaty talks have been held since negotiations started in 2008. China and U.S. officials have signaled a willingness to finalize a deal before U.S. President Barack Obama leaves the White House in January 2017.


"A high-level China-U.S. investment treaty will effectively provide a legal framework and strong impetus for two-way investment in China and the United States，" Wu told over 450 business representatives and officials from both countries on the sidelines of the two-day SelectUSA Investment Summit hosted by the Obama administration.


"With so many Chinese investors at this year's summit， it's no wonder that China has been the fastest growing source of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) to the United States，" said Bruce Andrews， Deputy Secretary of U.S. Commerce Department， adding that China tops the list of delegations for the summit with over 140 investors.


"Let me be clear， the United States is fully committed to enjoying a long-standing open investment policy， and to providing national treatment to investors from China，" he said， encouraging Chinese companies to take advantage of many resources offered by the SelectUSA， a government-wide initiative aimed at facilitating and accelerating international investment in the United States， this week and beyond.


"We encourage more Chinese businesses to select USA， and we also welcome more U.S. businesses to select China，" Wu said. "We're convinced that businesses from the two countries will be given full opportunity to select each other as China and the United States are both good investment destinations."


Max Baucus， U.S. Ambassador to China， said he hoped the two countries could reach a bilateral investment treaty (BIT) so that investors can invest more easily in each other's country， which is very important for the China and U.S. economies.

Baucus also said he remains "bullish" on China-U.S. relations no matter who is elected as the next president of the United States in November. U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman said Monday that the United States is in the process of assessing the Chinese new negative list offer. He said investment treaty talks will continue into the fall.


"I think if we can achieve a high-standard agreement you're moving from a world in which everything is prohibited unless it's expressly approved to one where everything's approved unless expressly regulated or prohibited.
