The Columbus Blue Jackets went down two goals and three forwards and left with a Game 1 victory.

Artemi Panarin scored a beautiful goal 6:02 into overtime to give the Blue Jackets a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals on Thursday night in the first-round playoff series.

The Pittsburgh Pirates might want to scratch out a scouting report on Brent Suter — as a hitter — before their series finale Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers at PNC Park.

Suter is strong enough on the mound. The left-hander is 7-4 with a 4.30 ERA going into his expected start against the Pirates Andy Pettitte Jersey , and over his past six starts he is 5-1 with a 3.24 ERA.

That includes a 13-2 win over Philadelphia Friday, when Suter allowed one run and six hits while tying a career high with seven innings pitched. But he seemed more excited about what he did at the plate in that game.

Suter drove in a run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, reached on an error and singled in a run in his three plate appearances against the Phillies.

“I feel locked in at the plate,” he said. “I’m a little late on fastballs, but I’m seeing the ball well. I’m seeing offspeed down. Any way you can help your team win is a good way to help your team win.”

Suter is 3-for-10 since he hit a 433-foot homer off American League Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber May 9. He was 4-for-28 before that Greg Maddux Jersey , including 1-for-8 this season.

“There’s a confidence there,” Suter said. “Hitting is one of my favorite parts. I love hitting. I’ve loved it my whole life. Even when I’m struggling, I still like going up there and trying to whack it.”

SANAA, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Al-Qaida militants killed 24 Yemeni soldiers of the Special Forces on Monday in an attack on the military barracks in the southeast province of Hadramout, a provincial security official told Xinhua.


"A total of 24 soldiers of the Special Forces were killed and only one soldier survived the attack but sustained severe injuries, " the official at the scene told Xinhua by phone on condition of anonymity.


Early in the morning, the attack targeted the barracks and its checkpoint located at the middle of a 250 km-long highway linking Hadramout's provincial capital of Mukalla and the far southeast province of al-Mahara.


The militants looted two armored vehicles fitted with missile launchers, three pick-up cars and the soldiers' rifles, the official said, adding that army reinforcements were dispatched from al-Mahara to track the militants. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.


Militants of the Yemen-based al-Qaida offshoot were blamed by the country's government for a series of assassinations and armed attacks, mostly in the country's southern regions.


Last September, the al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) released a video message, in which they claimed responsibility for a deadly suicide attack on the second military base headquarters in Mukalla. More than 20 soldiers and officers were killed in that attack.


The AQAP, which emerged in January 2009, is considered the most strategic threat to the Yemeni government and neighboring oil-rich Saudi Arabia.

The report is the first in a series of monthly reports on progress made towards an effective and sustainable Security Union， according to a Commission statement.


It states the Commission's efforts in the fight against terrorism， organized crime and cyber crime， also highlighting the priority areas where more work is needed.


The report underlines that the Commission should step up work on improving the legal framework and preventing and fighting radicalization. To this end， a range of agreements should be reached before the end of the year， including the directive on combating terrorism and the revision of the firearms directive.


Another priority work of the Commission is to improve information exchange in a bid to enhance security at the external borders.


The report urges EU member states to take necessary steps to ensure that they are able to implement fully the EU passenger name record directive by May 2018.


Dimitris Avramopoulos， Commissioner for Migration， Home Affairs and Citizenship， said: "The fragmentation of our security framework makes us all vulnerable. The dots have to be connected within and between member states， EU agencies， and different security and border management systems."


Europe's new Security Commissioner Julian King also stressed cooperation between institutions and member states in response to terrorist threats.
