By sticking with Philipp Grubauer in net for Game 2 Tramon Williams Jersey , the Washington Capitals are taking a page from the Philadelphia Flyers‘ most recent goaltending decision.
Of course, it was an entirely different book after the Pittsburgh Penguins chased Brian Elliott in a 7-0 drubbing in the first game of their series. Grubauer was hardly to blame for allowing four goals on 27 shots in an undisciplined Game 1 overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
But after Elliott rebounded to validate coach Dave Hakstol’s decision to go back to him, and Philadelphia tied the Battle of Pennsylvania at a game apiece, Washington’s Barry Trotz didn’t hesitate in going back to Grubauer in a crucial spot (7:30 p.m. EDT, NBCSN) instead of switching to Braden Holtby.
”There was nothing in that game that you’d say, why you would make a change?” Trotz said. ”Philipp’s been really good. … So, we’ll go back with Grubi; I’ve got a lot of confidence in him, and we’ll be ready.”
Goaltending could make all the difference for the Flyers against the Penguins and the Capitals against the Blue Jackets. But the two teams going into Sunday down 2-0 in their series are getting incredible play at the position and are still in trouble. In the Western Conference, Minnesota’s Devan Dubnyk almost stole Game 1 for the overmatched Wild against the powerhouse Winnipeg Jets, and Los Angeles‘ Jonathan Quick has stopped 81 of 84 shots and lost twice to the Vegas Golden Knights.
No one would confuse Elliott with Quick based on his history of playoff struggles and his hook-worth performance when he gave up five goals on 19 shots in the series opener. But he stopped 34 of 35 shots to steal home ice from the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions going into Game 3 Sunday (3 p.m., NBC).
”I thought he was our first star,” Hakstol said. ”He battled hard and made big saves at key times. I think that’s probably the most important thing.”
Dubnyk has been one of Minnesota’s most important players so far, but has been hung out to dry against an offensively potent Winnipeg team. He made 37 saves in Game 1, 40 more in Game 2 and the Wild still go home (7 p.m. EDT, USA) trying to avoid falling behind 3-0.
Playing without injured No. 1 defenseman Ryan Suter, the Wild have been outshot 84-37 Sam Gagner Jersey , putting pressure on Dubnyk to be the hero.
”You’re not going to win many getting 14 shots, 15 shots, 20 shots,” winger Zach Parise said. ”There’s just not a lot of room for error. He’s playing great. He’s giving us a chance. And we’re not really giving ourselves much of a chance.”
Quick has given the Kings even stronger goaltending, including 54 saves in a double-overtime loss at Vegas on Friday night. It’ll help Los Angeles to get top defenseman Drew Doughty back from his one-game suspension for Game 3 (10:30, NBCSN), which might be enough of a boost if Quick continues to stop this high a volume of shots.
”You’re just trying to make the next save,” Quick said. ”It’s a playoff game. You have to stay in the moment. Just like everyone. Just try and make the next save.”
Grubauer, who started just his second NHL playoff game Thursday, is staying in the moment so much he’s expecting to start until Trotz tells him otherwise. Washington’s coach deemed it a game-to-game decision, so even though Grubauer wasn’t bad, adjustments are necessary with the 2016 Vezina Trophy winner ready at a moment’s notice.
”You just look at the tape, I made some adjustments and worked on it today in practice,” Grubauer said.
Counterpart Sergei Bobrovsky has spent countless hours at practice trying to sharpen his game for the playoffs after struggling in three previous appearances. Bobrovsky stopped 27 of 30 shots in Game 1 against the Capitals and gives Columbus some high-level consistency in net that few playoff teams can count on.
”We’re just happy to see Bob play like Bob,” captain Nick Foligno said. ”We don’t need him to be the superstar. It’s just that’s his capabilities.”
INJURIES
The Blue Jackets will be without center Alexander Wennberg for Game 3 after a hit from the head by Washington’s Tom Wilson that went unpunished beyond a minor penalty. Coach John Tortorella didn’t care about the lack of punishment and is more worried about how 21-year-old Sonny Milano handles his second postseason game.
”There’s still a lot of things he needs to learn, but he can make an offensive play Youth Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys ,” Tortorella said. ”So we’re going to give him a whack at this here and see where we go.”
The Capitals expect to get fourth-line center Jay Beagle back after missing the past four games with an upper-body injury, and should still have right winger T.J. Oshie and defenseman Michal Kempny in the lineup.
Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang will at least travel to Philadelphia after taking a maintenance day off Saturday. Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said he was giving Matt Dumba a rest after playing over 57 minutes and expects the defenseman to be good to go for Game 3.
BROTHERLY BLOOD
Columbus’ Nick Foligno and brother Marcus, a forward for Minnesota, are in the playoffs together for the first time and got off to a rough-and-tumble start. Nick took a slap shot to the face Thursday night, and Marcus got involved in a scrap late in Minnesota’s loss Friday night.
The two text regularly to give each other tips. Marcus had an easy one for Nick after the puck to the cheek.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have lost starting center A.Q. Shipley for the season with a torn right ACL and will replace him with rookie Mason Cole.
Coach Steve Wilks confirmed the injury Monday, saying the center “heard something pop” in his knee during a goal-line drill in training camp on Saturday.
Shipley, a six-year NFL veteran, started all 16 games each of the past two seasons, the only member of the Cardinals offensive line to play every game either year. Wilks called him “a tremendous leader and hard worker.”
“When you talk about the DNA that I look for, a guy that loves the game, very passionate, gritty,” Wilks said. “He really was the leader up front.”
Shipley signed with Arizona as a free agent in 2015, working his way to a starting role after bouncing around the NFL early in his career.
“Coach (offensive coordinator Mike) McCoy said it best,” right guard Justin Pugh said. “He’s the heartbeat of the offensive line. So it’s’ definitely tough news to hear and knowing everything he’s been through in his career.”
The 6-foot-5 Womens Andrew Cogliano Jersey , 307-pound Cole is a third-round draft pick out of Michigan, where he was a four-year starter but only one — his junior year — was at center.
The Cardinals, though, drafted him as a center and he’s been working at that position through the offseason.
“I learned a lot from him (Shipley) my first few months of being here and still will learn a lot from him,” Cole said, “but I’m confident I can fill in and hopefully play as good as he has.”
Shipley was drafted in the seventh round out of Penn State by Pittsburgh in 2009 but didn’t make an active roster until 2012, when he was promoted from the practice squad by Indianapolis. He played two seasons for the Colts, sandwiched around one year with Baltimore.
He wasn’t regarded as one of the top centers around the NFL but inside the Cardinals organization, his worth has been considerable.
“I didn’t watch much Cardinals football last year, obviously,” said Pugh, who came to Arizona after five seasons with the New York Giants. “You get in this building and you realize who runs things and who does things the right way and A.Q. is one of those guys.”
Wilks said he watched video of Shipley’s injury “12 or 15 times.”
“I really couldn’t see anything malicious or anybody that fell into his leg,” he said. “I think it really just got caught up in the turf and he was engaged and he said he heard it pop.”
Shipley was able to walk off the field but was carted from there to the locker room, a towel draped over his head.
Cole started all 51 games at Michigan after arriving on campus, tying a school record.
“I played early in college and I think that helps me in situations like this,” he said Youth Leighton Vander Esch Jersey , “but also coming from Michigan and (coach Jim) Harbaugh’s staff and Harbaugh’s offense, I think that gives me a little upper hand here, too, just in terms of learning the offense and knowing what to do.”
As center, Cole will be responsible for making the offensive line play calls.
“Mentally is going to be the biggest challenge,” Pugh said. “For me (coming into the NFL) it was more physical because I was out there playing tackle. Obviously I had to know the playbook, know what I had to do. The center’s got to know what everyone has to do.”
Pugh said he and the other linemen will help Cole, as will veteran quarterback Sam Bradford.
Serious injury is always lurking around the corner in the NFL.
“It’s an evil of this game that you don’t want to see happen and when it happens to one of your leaders it definitely hurts,” Pugh said, “but we’ve got to rally behind the guys that are out there.”
Evan Boehm and Daniel Munyer will be the backups to Cole. Both also play guard. Boehm was drafted in the fourth round out of Missouri in 2016. Munyer, an undrafted free agent out of Colorado in 2016, played 10 offensive snaps against Dallas and was active for four other games — but did not play — before his season ended with a toe injury in early November.
The Cardinals also will look for possible help from unsigned players or those released by other teams in the coming weeks.

Marcus Williams sat sobbing in front of his cubicle in the silenced New Orleans locker room Connor Williams Color Rush Jersey , his face buried in a folded white towel.
Deep inside Minnesota’s stadium that erupted in victorious euphoria a few minutes earlier, Williams was having a hard time grappling with what had just happened. The rest of his Saints teammates were, too, after a 61-yard touchdown pass by Case Keenum to Stefon Diggs burned Williams on the game’s final play and gave the Vikings a 29-24 victory for a place in the NFC championship game .
”You can’t let it beat you down,” Williams said, his eyes still reddened by the tears. ”I’m going to take it upon myself to do all I can to never let that happen again. If it happens again, then I shouldn’t be playing.”
Williams, the rookie free safety and second-round draft pick from Utah who was one of several new players who helped the Saints transform a once-lagging defense, was the last man in coverage when the Vikings sent Kyle Rudolph, Jarius Wright and Diggs on routes toward the sideline with no timeouts remaining. Diggs was the deepest, and as he jumped to catch the ball, Williams went low to try to undercut him with an awkwardly executed attempt at a tackle.
”It was just my play to make Authentic Marquis Haynes Jersey ,” Williams said. ”The ball was in the air. I can go attack it.”
Diggs, who made sure to note right before the catch that Williams was the only one behind him, kept his balance as he landed and deftly kept his feet in bounds. Then he spun around and kept on running into the end zone to queue up the celebration.
”As a safety back there, you’ve got to be the eraser,” Williams said. ”Last play of the game, you’ve got to go do it. You know you’ve got to save the game.”
The Saints were both defensive and supportive of their first-year teammate, who could play another decade in the NFL and not experience a similar devastation with the stakes so high and the chance for failure so low.
”He’s got to keep his head up,” said cornerback and fellow rookie Marshon Lattimore. ”I’m not going to say he’s not feeling bad about the play, but we’ve got his back. We’re young, and we’re trying to come back next year. Marcus is a special player. You can’t let that one play, as big as it was, turn you against him. He’s been playing great all year. Just didn’t get the tackle this time.”
Defensive end Cameron Jordan tried to take on some of the blame.
”Had I been a half-step faster and been able to get off the tight end and the tackle and completely take over that play Authentic Todd Gurley Jersey ,” Jordan said, he could have sacked Keenum before the ”Minneapolis Miracle,” or the modern-day ”Immaculate Reception,” ever made it to the air.
The Vikings finished with 403 total yards, though the defense recovered well enough from a 17-0 deficit to give Drew Brees the opportunity to throw for three touchdown passes over the final 16:16 of the game and drive the Saints in position for Wil Lutz’s go-ahead field goal with 25 seconds left.
Williams intercepted Keenum earlier to set up the second touchdown drive, and the Saints sacked Keenum twice. In the end, though, all that mattered was the failure to tackle Diggs on the fateful final play.
”You work so hard for a goal. It’s right there, and you come up short,” linebacker Manti Te’o said. ”You can imagine anybody, how they would feel. It’s just a learning opportunity for all of us.”

Cam Newton walked into the interview room Friday night sporting a black eye and questioning his own judgment after an unexpected crash landing.
The Panthers' eighth-year quarterback escaped a potentially serious injury when he scrambled out of the pocket and dove headfirst on a third-and-9 play in the first quarter, only to get upended by cornerback Jonathan Jones causing the 2015 MVP to land on his head.
Newton was forced to leave the game to be evaluated for a concussion Authentic Thomas Rawls Jersey , but returned four plays later and helped lead Carolina to a 25-14 win over the New England Patriots to remain unbeaten in the preseason.
"I was thinking to myself it's the preseason, what do I do? What do I do?" Newton said while describing the run. "I was like I want to get a first down, but I want to bring this plane in as smoothly as possible."
The landing was anything but smooth.
As Newton was contemplating how to avoid contact, Jones hit him low, flipping the QB off his legs and sending Newton spiraling into the air.
"There were a lot of malfunctions going on from the cockpit," Newton said with a laugh. "Buttons were getting stuck. It was bad. It was real bad."
Newton didn't have a concussion, but said his noticeably swollen left eye was hurting. Newton said he received the black eye from his own helmet when he hit the ground.
He joked it was his first black eye since getting in a fight in middle school.
Newton finished 11 of 17 for 142 yards passing and led three scoring drives 鈥?all resulting in field goals 鈥?as the Panthers built a 9-3 lead at halftime.
"I always worry about him, but that's him 鈥?he plays to win," Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. "I would much rather he didn't (do that), but he's going to give us all he has because he wants to do the best he can out there."
Tom Brady's night wasn't nearly as eventful for the Patriots (2-1).
It was a quiet game for the five-time Super Bowl champion, who completed 12 of 18 passes for 102 yards in the first half and got the Patriots in field goal range twice. But drops and costly mistakes proved pivotal for the Patriots, who were limited to 130 yards in the first half.
"Our execution needs to be better Authentic Jonathan Toews Jersey ," Brady said. "You look back at a lot of the things and it's a lot of us. It's not so much what the other team is doing."
WHO'S THE GUY?
With Julian Edelman suspended for the first four games, Brady will be looking for a go-to guy. He hooked up four times with Phillip Dorsett for 36 yards and once each with Cordarrelle Patterson and Chris Hogan for 10 yards.
"We're going to have to be on the same page and we have two weeks to figure out who is going to be out there doing it," Brady said.
MCCAFFREY BUSY AGAIN
Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey continued to be a major player on offense, touching the ball 10 times for 51 yards on Carolina's opening drive which lasted nearly 10 minutes.
OTHER SCORES
Backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke scored on a rollout in the second half and Garrett Gilbert connected on a TD pass to Mose Frazier for Carolina's only touchdowns. New England's only touchdown came with 2:51 left when Mike Gillislee scored on a 2-yard run. Rivera said both Heinicke and Gilbert are proving worthy of a roster spot as they battle for the No. 2 spot behind Newton.
NATIONAL ANTHEM
There were no on-field protests during the playing of the national anthem.
INJURIES
Patriots: Running back Jeremy Hill, who is battling for a roster spot, left the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury and didn't return.
Panthers: Already without three starting offensive linemen, Carolina lost starting offensive tackle Jeremiah Sirles on the game's opening drive to a hamstring injury. He did not return.

Police in New Jersey charged William Jenkins with aggravated manslaughter on Wednesday after Roosevelt Rene was found dead in the basement of Jenkins’ brother and Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins‘ house on Tuesday.
A probable cause affidavit filed in the case provides some more details about what led to the charge against William Jenkins. He was interviewed about Rene’s death and police found that the two men got into a fight that ended with Jenkins inflicting “injuries to the victim which resulted in his death” before leaving the state.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Rams cornerback Aqib Talib will undergo surgery Thursday to repair an ankle injury.
Rams coach Sean McVay said Tuesday that a timetable for Talib’s return will not be known until after the procedure is completed and the full extent of the injury he sustained in the second half of the 35-23 win over the Chargers on Sunday is determined.
“It depends on once you get in there. We’ll find out once that surgery takes place http://www.chiefsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-robert-golden-jersey ,” McVay said.
Talib has six tackles, two passes defended and one forced fumble in three games this season, helping the Rams limit opponents to 199 yards passing per game and two touchdown passes. The Rams acquired the 2016 All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl defensive back in a trade with Denver for a fifth-round pick in the offseason.
Marcus Peters, the Rams’ other starting cornerback Clay Matthews Jersey , is day to day because of a calf injury and will likely be a game-day decision for their home game against Minnesota on Thursday night, McVay said.
“It’s a great representation of his toughness to even still have it be a chance that he’s going to play when you look at what occurred and you talk about what that position requires and entails in terms of the movements. He’s taking steps in the right direction,” McVay said.
“If we get him, we’ll be extremely excited and that’s a big boost to us. If not Redskins Game Jerseys , we have a whole lot of confidence in Sam Shields and Troy Hill, and Nickell Robey is going to be a guy that we’re going to continue to lean on as well.”

The Los Angeles Angels lost four more players to the disabled list Friday Youth C.J. Mosley Jersey , putting the club’s total at a franchise-record 15 players on the DL at one time.
Infielder Zack Cozart went on the DL with a partially dislocated left shoulder, while right-hander Jim Johnson has a lower back strain; right-hander Garrett Richards is nursing a strained left hamstring; and right-hander Nick Tropeano has inflammation in his pitching shoulder.
Meanwhile, Japanese two-way star Shohei Ohtani is taking some one-handed swings as the Angels wait out his sprained elbow to be re-evaluated in a few weeks.
The timeline for Richards, plagued by injuries the past two seasons that limited him to 12 total starts over 2016 and `17, to return is unclear, though manager Mike Scioscia said the injury is considered mild. ”Hamstrings,” he said, ”they’re a different animal.”
Richards left his Wednesday start at Seattle after two innings with tightness in the hamstring, then Cozart went down the next inning diving for a ball and irritated the shoulder. He has played with the injury before, but his shoulder needs to calm down.
With Richards, the Angels won’t take any chances.
”Unfortunately right now we’ve got to take a little half-step back and let it heal http://www.bearsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-roquan-smith-jersey ,” Scioscia said before his team opened a weekend series at Oakland. ”It was definitely affecting how he was trying to execute pitches the other day. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that it’s not going to be an extended injury.”
Johnson’s back locked up a couple of days ago.
Scioscia said he would do anything to take on all the injuries of his players because he doesn’t have to be feeling good, with the former catcher noting he already has plenty of aches and pains. While the injuries are mounting and the minor leaguers are arriving at a rapid rate to fill big holes, Scioscia said there have been worse times like in recent years when the entire rotation was hurt in a month’s time – that ”is devastating,” he said.
”I don’t know about four guys in one day,” Scioscia said. ”You can absorb the regular players that are out here and there but when you lose the toughest commodity to find is really good starting pitching, that takes a big dent out of what you’re trying to do. That being said, nobody’s going to feel sorry for yourself. We feel we have the guys that will go in there and contribute and keep us going.
”And if we can pitch and have our bullpen hold leads, then we’re going to be fine.”
The Angels called up four right-handed pitchers from Triple-A Salt Lake: Eduardo Paredes, Akeel Morris, Felix Pena and Jake Jewell. Left-hander John Lamb will be called up to start Saturday, meaning the Angels must make another move by designating someone for assignment to clear space on the 40-man roster.
The A’s were the last team with 15 players on the DL at once Bills Elite Jerseys , in 2016. Los Angeles had just 12 players from the opening day roster on Friday’s active roster.

DETROIT (AP) — Sam Darnold showed he could recover from a careless mistake — a promising trait for any rookie quarterback.
What the New York Jets displayed on defense and special teams may have been even more encouraging for Darnold and his teammates.
Darnold threw an interception on the very first snap of his NFL career — and it was run back for a Detroit touchdown — but New York’s quarterback shouldn’t sweat that too much after the Jets stormed back and routed the Lions 48-17 on Monday night. Darnold threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns, and the Jets also scored on defense and special teams.
“We’re going to play better every game, that’s our goal,” wide receiver Quincy Enunwa said. “Obviously you can’t always make it happen, that’s going to be what we’re striving for. All three phases being successful, scoring on all three phases. When you can do that, you can be a pretty good team.”
Darnold earned the starting job after the Jets drafted him third overall in this year’s draft. His performance alone was cause for excitement Monday, but on this night, New York seemed to have a pretty solid cast around him as well. The Jets intercepted Matthew Stafford four times in a dismal debut for new Lions coach Matt Patricia.
“Give the Jets credit. They obviously are the ones that played well tonight,” Patricia said. “We have to do better, I have to coach better and we have to play better.”
New York scored 31 unanswered points in the final 9:36 of the third quarter after the Lions had tied it at 17. Darron Lee returned an interception for a touchdown Carlos Dunlap Jerse , and Andre Roberts scored on a 78-yard punt return 67 seconds later.
What we learned from New York’s resounding win:
REBOUND
Darnold’s start to this game was pretty much the worst-case scenario. On the first play from scrimmage, his ill-advised throw sailed toward the left sideline and was picked off by Quandre Diggs, who returned it 37 yards for a 7-0 lead. That was Darnold’s only major error, however. He not only showed he could play well in prime time on the road, he also showed he could handle adversity.
The 21-year-old Darnold was the youngest quarterback to start a season opener since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. He was also the first quarterback to win his first start by 31 or more points since Tom Brady in 2001, per ESPN Stats & Info.
STUCK IN NEUTRAL
The Lions were unimpressive in the preseason, but it’s always tough to tell how much that really matters. This opener confirmed this team has issues. It was the most lopsided loss for Detroit in an opener since a 45-0 shellacking at Washington in 1991. (Of course, the Lions ended up making the NFC title game that season).
Detroit had scored at least 25 points in seven straight season openers, an NFL record. That streak is now over.
Perhaps most distressing, the Jets said they had a read on Stafford’s signals.
“We were calling out their plays as he was getting up to the line,” Lee said.
NO BALANCE
Detroit did a lot to try to shore up the running game this offseason Adidas Dustin Brown Jersey , drafting Kerryon Johnson and adding LeGarrette Blount. It was enough of an overhaul that Ameer Abdullah was inactive for the opener.
The Lions ended up with 39 yards on 15 carries. Blount ran four times for minus-3 yards. Not a good sign.
“I know it sounds crazy, but we’re a lot better football team than we showed,” tackle Taylor Decker said. “I think we all know that and we’re all secure and comfortable with that. We’ll get better moving forward.”
X-FACTOR?
Maybe it was just poor coverage by Detroit, but Roberts also had a 43-yard punt return in the first quarter in addition to his touchdown.
EXPECTATIONS
One victory doesn’t make the Jets a Super Bowl team, but the lopsided nature of this one is hard to ignore, and now New York has winnable games the next two weeks against Miami and at Cleveland.
Detroit is at San Francisco next weekend.

The Boston Bruins didn’t need overtime this time, and they didn’t even need all four third-period goals to send the Toronto Maple Leafs home for the summer again.
Five years after an unprecedented rally from a three-goal, third-period deficit to eliminate Toronto in Game 7 of their first-round playoff series, the Bruins scored four straight goals to beat the Maple Leafs 7-4 and advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Rookie Jake DeBrusk scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 14:35 to play . The Bruins will open the second round in Tampa Bay on Saturday against the Lightning, who finished off New Jersey in five games last Saturday.
”They’ve had some time to rest Youth Mike Remmers Jersey , and if they had any injuries, probably get a little healthier,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. ”But, that’s the advantage of winning in five. … But we are battle tested now, and we’ve got to bring that mentality into the next round.”
Despite the final score, the teams were tied or separated by one goal for the first 51:59.
”For entertainment value, that was probably one of the better Game 7s you’ll see,” said Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, who stopped just 20 of 24 shots. ”It was only a one-goal game going into the third and we shut it down and scored some good goals.”
Kasperi Kapanen put Toronto ahead 4-3 with a short-handed goal in the second. But Torey Krug tied it early in the third, and DeBrusk gave Boston the lead when he slid the puck through Frederik Andersen’s legs right before being flattened by defenseman Jake Gardiner.
DeBrusk slid into the boards on his backside and didn’t even have time to climb up off his knees before he was mobbed by teammates.
”Jake had a real coming-out party in the series,” Cassidy said. ”He scored going to the net Authentic Tracy Walker Jersey , dirty areas. That’s always the first thing: play inside, be willing to get hit, fight for your space. That’s playoff hockey. They weren’t freebies. They’ve been real greasy, as advertised.”
David Pastrnak made it 6-4 with 8:21 to play, and Brad Marchand flipped one into the empty net with 51 seconds left to set off a celebration in the stands.
Danton Heinen scored his first NHL postseason goal, Patrice Bergeron had a goal and two assists, and David Krejci had three assists for the Bruins. In his first NHL postseason series, DeBrusk had seven points in seven games.

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler expressed little concern about his one-game suspension Youth Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey , his shoulder injury or his future with the franchise.
The 23-year-old Fowler was equally nonchalant about the progress he seemingly made in the past year.
"Did I go to jail?" he said following the team's first training camp practice Thursday. "There we go."
Fowler spoke publicly for the first time since the NFL suspended him without pay for the season opener at the New York Giants, a one-game penalty for attacking a man in a parking lot near his hometown in July 2017.
Fowler eventually pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery, criminal mischief and petty theft. The case was closed in March, with Fowler sentenced to a year of probation and 75 hours of community service.
The NFL handed down its punishment last week.
"We really already knew it was going to happen," said Fowler, who will be eligible to play Week 2 against New England. "It's a situation that happened last year so the NFL finally took it into their hands this year. We talked and they told me what it was going to be. I just appreciate them hearing me out Youth Jason Sanders Jersey , hearing my side of the story. It could have always been worse, so I'm going to just take this game and be ready when we come back for the Patriots."
The suspension will cost him $214,000.
Missing additional games could cost him even more.
The Jaguars declined to exercise the fifth-year option in Fowler's rookie contract in May, likely meaning the third overall pick in the 2015 draft will become a free agent after this season.
A career year could mean a lucrative deal elsewhere.
"Go out there and play as best as I can every Sunday," he said. "That's it."
Fowler has 53 tackles and 12 sacks in two seasons. He missed his rookie year after tearing a ligament in his left knee during the first day of a rookie minicamp.
He played in every game since his return, but mostly as a backup to Pro Bowler Yannick Ngakoue. The Jags apparently don't view Fowler in the team's long-term plans http://www.officialislanders.com/authentic-adidas-adam-pelech-jersey , which is why they declined to pay him $14.2 million in 2019.
His off-filed troubles are partly to blame.
The former Florida standout was arrested last year after confronting a 55-year-old man who made a comment about his driving. St. Petersburg police said Fowler exchanged words with the man before hitting him and knocking off his glasses. Fowler then stepped on the glasses before taking the man's grocery bag and tossing it in a lake.
Fowler also was arrested in Miami Beach in March 2016 and charged with misdemeanor counts of assault against a police officer and resisting arrest without violence. The charges were later dropped. That arrest came a little more than two weeks after a video surfaced showing Fowler refereeing a violent fight between his girlfriend and an ex-girlfriend. He also has a long list of traffic violations.
"It is something where you have to go out every day and you have to prove (yourself) until you get to a level of consistency where there is trust," coach Doug Marrone said. "I think it is a matter of doing the right things each and every day, and we will see how it goes."
Fowler's health is his biggest concern these days.
He injured his left shoulder late last season and opened camp on the physically unable to perform list. Incapable of lifting weights for part of the offseason, Fowler lost some pounds. But much like everything else, he doesn't see it as a concern.
"Well, I'm actually big Texans Authentic Jerseys ," he said with a smile. "I honestly think it won't matter. It doesn't matter. Weight does not matter with this one. I'm a straight dog. It don't matter. Once I put on them pads, it's a wrap. I'm just getting stronger. Coaches are looking out for me and being concerned and looking out for my health, so all I can do is just get stronger and you guys will know when I'm out there again."

MILWAUKEE — Jorge Polanco is expected to make his season debut Monday night when the Minnesota Twins open a two-game interleague series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.
Polanco will be reinstated Monday from his 80-game suspension for use of performance-enhancing drugs after going 6-for-13 in four games with Triple-A Rochester.
He batted .256 with 13 home runs http://www.coltsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-darius-leonard-jersey , 30 doubles in 133 games last year and was especially strong in the second half, slashing .293/.359/.511 with 10 homers and 43 RBIs.
That performance moved him into the No. 3 spot in the Twins’ lineup, but manager Paul Molitor said he probably won’t bat that high right away upon his return.
“We know what he did last year when he had a chance to move up into a pretty important role,” Molitor told reporters Sunday in Chicago. “I don’t know we’ll jump him up there that fast. For us to see him is going to be different than hearing about him and reading about him and texting him and all those kinds of things.
“We’ll see how it is. To be honest, coming up here and playing, even though he’s doing really well, it’s going to be a little different than what he’s been doing.”
Right-hander Kyle Gibson (2-6) starts for Minnesota. He posted a 2.45 ERA through his first four June starts but saw that number grow to 3.35 after allowing five runs in seven innings to the Chicago White Sox his last time out.
Gibson struck out seven in the game and walked just one but gave up a season-high 11 hits.
“I went back and looked at some of the hits I gave up Authentic Joel Iyiegbuniwe Jersey ,” Gibson said. “I don’t know if I just picked the wrong pitch at the wrong time or what. I executed quite a few pitches there, and they found holes.”
The Twins dropped a three-game weekend series to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field and have lost eight of their last 10 overall.
Milwaukee struggled during the weekend, too, dropping the last two of a four-game series at Cincinnati. The Brewers managed just five total runs in those losses while allowing 20, including a grand slam in each one.
“Two runs, three runs … You’re going to need more to win most games,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said.
Despite that showing Youth Ryan Switzer Jersey , the Brewers will return home still leading the National League Central by a half-game over the Cubs, who will be idle Monday.
Brent Suter (8-5) gets the nod in the series opener. He’ll be looking to get back on track after his three-game winning streak was snapped last week by the Kansas City Royals.
Suter overcame a somewhat slow start to the season and has turned into a solid starter in the last two months. He’s 6-2 with a 3.50 ERA in his last eight starts. Before his outing against Kansas City, he hadn’t allowed more than three runs in his previous seven games.
Part of Suter’s success can be attributed to his pace, which is among the game’s fastest. That makes it difficult for hitters to settle in between pitches and, Suter admits, there can be a slight advantage to working quickly.
“I don’t want to quick-pitch people; I don’t do that,” he said. “But I want to keep the tempo up and let my fielders get back in and hit as quickly as possible. That’s how I operate. If that gets them uncomfortable Authentic Marcell Ozuna Jersey , that’s fine, but I’m just in attack mode and up-tempo.”
Suter is 1-0 with a 3.72 ERA in two career starts against the Twins, both of which came at Target Field. He held them to a run and five hits while striking out six in 5 2/3 innings on May 18.
Cubs infielder Javier Baez is feeling better after he was hit on the left elbow by a pitch.
Baez was plunked by Jack Flaherty in the third inning of Sunday night’s 5-0 loss at St. Louis. But he could return as soon as Tuesday’s day-night doubleheader against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He was not in the starting lineup before Monday’s series opener against Los Angeles was postponed by a mixture of poor weather and a limited power outage at Wrigley Field. He said his elbow is still pretty swollen, but he felt good and no X-rays were needed.
”I was scared for a moment but after I started feeling everything, I knew everything was good,” he said.
Baez leads the Cubs with 14 homers and is tied for the team lead with 46 RBIs.
”That’s a tough one right there,” manager Joe Maddon said. ”I’ve actually gone through that particular instance Bradley Pinion Jersey , and it stings and you want to throw up and it’s hot, but you actually come out of it.
”He’s a tough kid. I’m not totally surprised that he’s fine. It’s just an awkward spot when it happens.”
Baez said Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina texted him Sunday night to see if he was all right.
Also Monday, the Cubs placed reliever Brian Duensing on the bereavement list and recalled left-hander Rob Zastryzny from Triple-A Iowa. Duensing’s grandfather died on Saturday.
”He is in a better place but we miss him dearly already,” Duensing posted on his Twitter account.

鈥淚 am grateful that no one was injured in the accident,” Williams said in a statement. “The driver in front of me slammed on his brakes and I turned to the left and hopped the curb to avoid hitting him. I got his insurance information and my neighbor picked me up when my car wouldn鈥檛 drive. I live right near where the accident occurred, so my neighbor dropped me off and I called a tow truck and took the scooter from my house to go meet the tow truck driver. The police officer, who I have met in the past in the neighborhood, saw me on the scooter and arrested me without performing any sobriety tests. I have always been an upstanding citizen and handled the situation the best way I know how. I apologize if I should have handled it a little bit differently.”
Williams’ lawyer, Chip Lewis, added this: 鈥淲e appreciate the professionalism of all law enforcement involved in handling this situation. Contrary to media reports, Terrance did not hit a light pole and there was no light pole even near the vehicle. Secondly, his arrest was wholly unrelated to the traffic accident.”

Tony Gonzalez Brandon Manning Jersey , the most accomplished tight end in NFL history, Ed Reed, Champ Bailey and London Fletcher are first-year eligible players among the 102 modern-era nominees for the class of 2019 for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Gonzalez retired in 2013 after 17 pro seasons in which he had 1,325 receptions, second to Jerry Rice on the career list. A college basketball and football star at California, he was drafted 13th overall by the Chiefs in 1997 and played a dozen seasons in Kansas City. Gonzalez spent his final five seasons with Atlanta, finishing with 111 touchdown catches and 15,127 yards receiving. He made six All-Pro teams and was a member of the all-decade team for 2000-10.
Reed and Bailey were standout defensive backs for stout units. The 24th overall draft selection in 2002, Reed played 11 seasons in Baltimore, three times leading the league in interceptions. Among his 64 career picks were returns for touchdowns of 106 and 107 yards. He made five All-Pro squads Jordan Mills Jersey , was the 2004 Defensive Player of the Year, and joined Gonzalez on the all-decade team. Reed won a Super Bowl in the 2012 season.
Bailey began his career with Washington in 1999 as the seventh overall draft choice. He moved to Denver in 2004, and led the NFL in interceptions with 10 in 2006. Fletcher became a starting linebacker in St. Louis in 1999 and won a Super Bowl. A rare undrafted player to be nominated for the Hall of Fame, he missed only one start from 1999-2013 with the Rams, Bills and Redskins. One of the biggest off ice stories has a new beginning as the long reported Nazem Kadri Jersey , long expected Matt Duchene trade finally took place last week. With the former Avalanche star making a new home in Ottawa, there are a number of other players who for various reasons have started to see or hear their names among the early season trade talks. For some, it is a matter of a slow start by either themselves or their team or even both. For others Authentic Customized Jaguars Jerseys , it comes down to a financial issue at the end of the season when said player is looking for a bigger聽contract.
While some of the following fifteen names will not be moved this season as the fan backlash could crush the franchise (John Tavares), others may as well start packing their suitcases and moving boxes as it is only a matter of time before they are wearing a different jersey. With a lot of early season surprises in the NHL, who would have thought the St. Louis Blues and New Jersey Devils would be top three in the standings nearly twenty games in? At the same time Paul Hornung Jersey , did you see the Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks or Montreal Canadians struggle out of the gate?
Being that it is still early enough in the season for teams and players to change their luck around, maybe an opportunity for a change of address is needed. Could one or multiple names on this list of fifteen rumored trade block names be on the move sooner than later?
Le'Veon Bell disputes telling some teammates he will report to the Steelers on Monday.
“Don鈥檛 believe the fake news Adidas Logan Couture Jersey , I never said anything to no one,” Bell tweeted Tuesday afternoon.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that some Steelers expect Bell to show up six days before the team’s season opener. The star running back arrived six days before the Steelers’ first game last season.
Bell played in the victory over the Browns to open the 2017 season but gained only 32 yards on 10 carries and 15 yards on three receptions.
The sides again failed to come to terms on a long-term extension by the July deadline, prompting his holdout for a second consecutive year. He has yet to sign the $14.5 million franchise tender.

Gronkowski has completed his first official workout since arriving in the United States ahead of his expected start in the Belmont Stakes.
The colt breezed four furlongs in 47.99 seconds at Belmont Park on Saturday for Chad Brown Adidas Dustin Brown Jersey , who has taken over training duties from Europe-based Jeremy Noseda.
Gronkowski has been in the U.S. a couple of weeks. The colt, named for New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, has four wins in six starts in Britain. The human Gronkowski has purchased an interest in the colt that missed the Kentucky Derby because of a slight infection.
Gronkowski is being pointed toward the June 9 Belmont, where Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Justify will try to become horse racing's 13th Triple Crown winner.
Brown says the colt came to him in outstanding condition and shows the signs of being a very good racehorse.
The Pittsburgh Steelers stressed all summer the need to avoid the kind of off-the-field distractions they couldn't seem to shake in 2017.
So much for that.
While the two-time defending AFC North champions hit the practice field on Monday to prepare for their Week 1 opener in Cleveland, All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell was nowhere to be found. Bell still hasn't signed his one-year franchise tender or given any indication on when he might show up, leaving his teammates to answer for him.
"I'm not annoyed by (being asked about) it Womens Le'Veon Bell Jersey ," guard Ramon Foster said, tongue firmly in cheek. "Who are you talking about? I didn't even notice."
Center Maurkice Pouncey called Bell's absence "fine" and insisted it won't be an issue going forward.
"The team is so locked in and focused on what we've got to do at hand this weekend that whenever he comes, we'll welcome him with open arms," Pouncey said. "Hopefully he's in shape and ready to run the football."
A year ago Bell skipped training camp, showed up on Labor Day and was ready to play in the opener, though he and the entire offense looked sluggish in narrow 21-18 victory over the Browns. Bell finished with 32 yards on 10 carries in Cleveland and didn't really get rolling until October.
"I think the whole offense started out kind of slow last year Youth Brian O'Neill Jersey ," Pouncey said. "To point out one thing at one person because he wasn't here (for camp) is totally wrong."
Bell recovered in time to lead the NFL with 406 touches and likely would have won the league rushing title if he wasn't held out of a meaningless finale with Pittsburgh's playoff position already secure.
The Steelers placed the franchise tag on him for a second straight spring hoping a long-term deal could be worked out. When the two sides failed to reach an agreement by the July 17th deadline, Bell offered an apology while promising that "2018 will be my best season to date."
At the moment, it's a season that currently lacks a starting point.
The players are off Tuesday, meaning Bell would have just three days of practice to get ready for the Browns if he signed his $14.5 million tender before the team took the field on Wednesday. That's not a lot of time regardless of Bell's pedigree.
Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said the team was "disappointed" in Bell's late arrival, but will focus on preparing for Cleveland with the 53 men currently on the roster.
If Bell is not available, the Steelers will turn to second-year running back James Conner. The former Pitt star ran for 100 yards during limited action in the preseason and has won raves from his teammates for his improvement as both a blocker and a receiver.
"I feel like James has been in a great spot this entire camp Sam Hubbard Jersey ," Foster said. "He's the one that's taken all the reps. And we've got (Stevan) Ridley who is an experienced hard downfield runner too. We'll be fine in the run game and focus on those guys over there."
While Bell is missing, Josh Dobbs is still around. The second-year quarterback capped a stellar training camp by edging veteran Landry Jones for the right to be Ben Roethlisberger's backup.
Dobbs, who threw for a touchdown and ran for another in the exhibition finale against Carolina, said he wasn't sure he made the team until offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner called him just minutes before rosters were trimmed from 90 to 53.
"I thought I played well when my opportunities came," Dobbs said. "I didn't know how it was going to shake out but I felt we prepared well and played well. We've just got to continue to improve moving forward."
Rookie Mason Rudolph will be the third-stringer for now behind Dobbs and the 36-year-old Roethlisberger, who has been remarkably durable in recent seasons. Roethlisberger has missed just five games because of injury since the start of 2013.
NOTES: The team selected Roethlisberger Youth Josh Allen Jersey , Pouncey, defensive end Cam Heyward and kicker Chris Boswell as captains for the 2018 season. ... Pittsburgh re-signed S Nat Berhe on Monday and placed LB Ola Adeniyi on injured reserve.

After Browns receiver Josh Gordon issued an aspirational-but-ominous statement regarding the fact that he’ll miss the first week of training camp Womens Marian Hossa Jersey , Browns G.M. John Dorsey said that Gordon will be placed on the non-football injury list. According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Dorsey said Wednesday that the Browns will use a different designation.
According to Cabot, the Browns will place Gordon on the “did not report” list.
On the surface, that doesn’t mean much. He’s either with the team or not, and if he’s not with the team, the Browns need to find a way to account for him until he returns.
But “did not report” implies something more negative and voluntary than the non-football illness designation. It has the sound and feel of a holdout; indeed, it potentially makes Gordon subject to the daily fine of $40 Adidas Carey Price Jersey ,000 for each day he missed.
Maybe there is, in a roundabout way, a desire by Gordon to improve his financial standing. Because Gordon appeared in only five games in 2014 and five games in 2017, his shot at free agency (restricted or unrestricted) continues to be delayed. This year, the Browns were able to keep him by offering a one-year, $790,000 deal. Maybe the anxiety that reportedly is keeping him from camp arises in part from the fact that Anthony Beauvillier Jersey , more than six years after being drafted, he’s still making peanuts relative to other elite receivers.
Or maybe the Browns simply placed Gordon on the “did not report” list in order to free up the 90th roster spot. Absent an explanation as to why they used the device (the question has been posed), it’s impossible to know why the Browns opted for this specific designation. Either way, the words “did not report” carry much different weight than “non-football illness.”
The New York Giants have interviewed Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks for their vacant head coaching job.
The 48-year-old Wilks met with co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch, new general manager Dave Gettleman and assistant general manager Kevin Abrams at the team’s headquarters on Tuesday, two days after the Panthers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by New Orleans.
