ST. LOUIS — Members of the new-look St. Louis Blues admitted that it might take some time to mesh after a disappointing 5-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in the season opener on Thursday night. But it seems like that process will have to happen on the fly as the Blues host the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.Six of the Blues’ 12 forwards are either newcomers or rookies. That includes the acquisition of centers Ryan O’Reilly and Tyler Bozak and left winger Pat Maroon.Article continues below ...“Every day you have to keep getting closer Markus Granlund Jersey ,” O’Reilly said. “I feel that team over there (the Jets) has been together a bit longer and you kind of see just a little cleaner at times. The guys know and can anticipate what the other players are doing a bit more, and that’s what we want to get to. We want to have confidence in each other.”But O’Reilly doesn’t think the Blues are far away.“I definitely think it’s next game,” he said. “I think we get a few and guys start feeling confident in each other and it starts rolling from there.”Blues coach Mike Yeo called the season-opening effort disappointing, but said the team wasn’t going overboard with the result.“I think there’s a lot to learn from the game about our group and playing against a good team like that,” Yeo said. “I think we had some opportunities, but didn’t capitalize. We’re not going to accept saying that at the end of a bunch of games this year. There were a number of points during the course of the game we could have done things differently, better, and with a better mindset than we did that would have served us well.”On Friday, the Blues sent defenseman Niko Mikkola down to the AHL and recalled veteran forward Chris Thorburn.Thorburn gives the Blues, who began the season with just 12 forwards, an extra body up front. The non-conventional roster formation was necessary in part due to defenseman Robert Bortuzzo sitting out the season opener while serving the final game of a suspension from last season. Bortuzzo’s return made the need of an extra defender unnecessary. The Blues take on a Blackhawks team that’s riding high after a season-opening 4-3 overtime win at Ottawa. Right winger Patrick Kane roofed a backhander 38 seconds into overtime for the game winner after the Blackhawks tied it in the third period.“We just kind of stayed with it,” Kane told NHL.com. “It’s kind of a good feeling to be down like that and have a comeback win http://www.canucksshoponline.com/authentic-michael-del-zotto-jersey , especially for the first game of the season. Gives us a little confidence. I think, overall, everybody was pretty pumped up after the game and happy to get the two points the first game of the season.”The Blues took three of four games against the Blackhawks last season, but Chicago comes into this meeting with confidence.“It’s huge, I think, especially coming back like that and getting the first one out of the way is very important,” Blackhawks right winger Alex DeBrincat told NHL.com. “It really helps us gain confidence and just helps us move along.” DETROIT (AP) The Detroit Red Wings are hoping to win enough before the trade deadline the franchise chooses to make a run for the postseason instead of trades for the future.Dylan Larkin and Frans Nielsen scored in the first two periods and Detroit held off the Anaheim Ducks for a 2-1 win on Tuesday night.”We’re not folding,” Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said.Detroit has won two straight, hoping this is the beginning of a push to rally into a wild-card spot in the playoff race before the NHL trade deadline Feb. 26.”It’s desperation,” Larkin said. ”We know our situation and what has to be done.”Adam Henrique pulled Anaheim within a goal with 3:54 left in the game. The Ducks took goaltender John Gibson off the ice with a minute remaining in regulation to have an extra skater, but couldn’t score to extend the game. The Red Wings went off the ice with a sense of relief after blowing third-period goals in recent games.”We hit that crossbar and then they score right after, you do think for a second Sam Gagner Jersey , `Oh, is it one of those again?”’ Nielsen acknowledged. The Ducks were dominant in the first, outshooting Detroit 16-5, and still trailed after Larkin scored off Kevin Bieksa’s giveaway in front of net with 6:28 left in the period.Nielsen scored late in the second to put the Red Wings up 2-0 even though they were held to single digits in shots.”We had two turnovers that ended up in our net,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. ”That’s what the game is like when teams are going for the playoffs.”Detroit’s Jimmy Howard held up to intense pressure in the first period stopping 15 shots, and he finished with 32 saves. He kicked out his left leg to stop Corey Perry’s shot in front of the net on a power play midway through the third period.”When he plays like that, we play with confidence and it’s easier for us to play better,” Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg said.Anaheim generated a lot of scoring chances and had two potential goals were waved off after video reviews, but could only score once.”We played well early,” Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf said. ”But we had those two goals called back that we thought could have counted, especially the first one, and we missed an empty net. That took something out of us.”John Gibson had 14 saves for the Ducks Sven Baertschi Jersey , who have lost five of seven to slip in the Pacific Division standings.”The last week or so has been frustrating because we aren’t competing at the level we need to compete,” Getzlaf said. ”We have to push for the playoffs right now. We can’t wait. At this time of the year, everyone plays hard.”NOTES: Former Ducks C Dennis Rasmussen cleared waivers and chose to play in Europe. … Larkin’s goal gave him a team-high 43 points in 55 games, extended his point streak to four games and ended his third goal-scoring drought of at least eight games. … Howard won the 215th game of his career, moving past Tim Thomas for seven on the all-time list of NHL wins by an American-born goalie. Ryan Miller, the Ducks’ No. 2 goalie, is leads all U.S.-born active goaltenders with 365 victories and is third on the all-time list behind John Vanbiesbrouck (374) and Tom Barrasso (369). … The Ducks recalled D Marcus Pettersson from the AHL and he was scratched at Detroit.UP NEXTDucks: Play at Chicago on Thursday night, the second of a four-game road trip that includes stops in Minnesota and Las Vegas.Red Wings: Visits Tampa Bay on Thursday night.—

DETROIT — Controversy abounds for the Columbus Blue Jackets as they prepare to open the 2018-19 NHL season against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena. There had already rampant speculation about the future of Columbus goaltender and two-time Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky and left winger and 2017-18 team leading scorer Artemi Panarin. Both are in the final season of their contracts and failed to sign extensions during the summer. And on Wednesday Womens Authentic Nick Bjugstad Jersey , coach John Tortorella told Columbus radio station 97.1 The Fan that he will start backup goaltender Joonas Korpisalo on Thursday night instead of Bobrovsky, who struggled during the preseason.Article continues below ...Tortella said Bobrovsky will play in the Blue Jackets’ home opener against Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night at Nationwide Arena. .Columbus, which was eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season, will also be without star defensemen Seth Jones, who will miss six to eight weeks because of a sprained MCL suffered during the preseason. But defenseman Zach Werenski returns from shoulder surgery, which he underwent on May 3.“I worked hard this summer, I’ve rehabbed it a long time and it’s finally coming together,” Werenski said on the team’s website. The Blue Jackets activated defenseman Ryan Murray off injured reserve and placed defenseman Scott Harrington on injured reserve on Wednesday.Detroit, which has missed the playoffs for the past two seasons, is injecting youth into what had been a veteran-laden roster. Five players could make their NHL debut on Thursday night.Defensemen Dennis Cholowski, 20 and Libor Sulak Roberto Luongo Jersey , 24; and forwards Michael Rasmussen, 19; and Christoffer Ehn, 22, will definitely be in the lineup against Columbus. Defenseman Filip Hronek, 20, could be called up from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League and play, depending on injuries to veteran defensemen Niklas Kronwall and Jonathan Ericsson.Defenseman Joe Hicketts, 22, could also be called up. He played five games for the Red Wings in 2017-18.Cholowski was the most impressive of the rookies during the preseason. He averaged more than 20 minutes in six games, including considerable power play and penalty kill time. Cholowski had two goals and four assists for six points and was plus-5.“I’ve liked him lots, I like his skill set http://www.floridapanthersteamshops.com/authentic-vincent-trocheck-jersey , I like what he’s good at, we need what he’s good at it,” Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said on www.mlive.com about Cholowski. “Pro experience matters, but so does talent. So if he’s good enough and can make an impact, he should be here.”This is Cholowski’s first pro season after being Detroit’s first-round pick (20th overall) in 2016.Red Wings defenseman Mike Green will be out for more than a month, according to Blashill, as he recovers from a virus that attacked his liver during the preseason. With the retirement of captain Henrik Zetterberg because of a bad back at the beginning of training camp, Detroit named two more alternate captains on Wednesday. Center Dylan Larkin will wear an “A” during home games and center Frans Nielsen will be the third alternate captain for road games. They join Kronwall and left winger Justin Abdelkader as alternate captains.Larkin, 22, led Detroit with 63 points last season and signed five-year, $30.5 million extension during the offseason.“I think his basic leadership skills are on the ice Adrian Kempe Jersey ,” Nielsen said about Larkin. “The way he brings it and the way he competes every night.”Larkin is expected to be the Red Wings’ next captain. ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Anaheim Ducks goalie John Gibson drew a tough assignment in his return from a lower-body injury: Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.Turns out he was up for the challenge.Gibson made 30 saves, Ryan Kesler scored early in the third period and the Ducks held on for a 3-2 win over the Oilers on Friday night.Gibson had missed four straight games. Corey Perry also scored for the Ducks, who are tied with San Jose and Calgary for third place in the Pacific Division with 64 points.”Gibby has been playing unreal,” said defenseman Hampus Lindholm, who had a goal and an assist. ”He’s a world-class goalie. Everybody knows that. It was nice to see him back in the net.”Ducks coach Randy Carlyle credited Gibson’s efforts in the second period with helping the team regain its composure and setting the stage for Kesler to tip in Lindholm’s shot 3:04 into the third for a 3-1 lead. Gibson stopped all five shots he faced on the penalty kill, including a dangerous one-timer by Leon Draisaitl off a precision pass through the slot by McDavid.”We started turning the puck over and they had us hemmed in the zone,” Carlyle said. ”We took two penalties and our penalty killing provided us with the opportunity to get into the third (still leading). That was the difference, and usually your best penalty-killer is your goaltender.”Anton Slepyshev and Kris Russell scored for the Oilers, who dropped the first two games of their three-game California trip. Cam Talbot made 31 saves.Anaheim jumped in front 2:28 into the first period on Lindholm’s eighth goal. Lindholm’s shot struck Edmonton defenseman Andrej Sekera in the leg and redirected past Talbot. It was the fifth time in the Oilers’ last six games that they allowed the opening goal. They are 9-22-2 when the opponent scores first.Edmonton has trailed at least 2-0 in each of those five games after Perry scored his 11th goal at 15:50 of the second. Ryan Getzlaf caught Russell’s attempt to clear the puck with his left hand and fed Perry, who scored for the third time in four games.”I will take a lot of the heat on this one because that stuff can’t happen http://www.kingsproshop.com/authentic-alex-iafallo-jersey ,” Russell said. ”I just need to make the safe play. It makes it harder on our team and harder on our goaltenders when you give up chances like that.”Perry is on a four-game point streak, with three goals and four assists in that span. Getzlaf had an assist for the third consecutive game.Slepyshev scored on a breakaway at 16:58 of the second, making it 2-1. It was his first goal in 13 games.Slepyshev saw an increased workload after Drake Caggiula was hit in the face by a puck midway through the second and did not return. Sekera also departed after being struck by a puck. He played just 3:30.Oilers coach Todd McLellan said Caggiula and Sekera are questionable to play against San Jose on Saturday.McDavid found a streaking Russell to cut the Ducks’ lead to 3-2 at 14:55 of the third. The Oilers nearly tied it off the ensuing faceoff on a shot by Mark Letestu, but the Ducks were able to close out the game, with Kesler winning two late face-offs.”You really can’t push for anything more from your guys because you know that there has been a lot of hockey played and road trips and whatnot,” Carlyle said. ”Just find a way to be the difference, and tonight we were lucky enough to get that done.”NOTES: Oilers D Adam Larsson missed his fifth straight game following the death of his father. … The Ducks assigned G Retto Berra and LW Nic Kerdiles to their AHL affiliate in San Diego prior to the game.UP NEXTOilers: Visit the Sharks on Saturday night.Ducks: Host the Sharks on Sunday.—

The Predators have the Presidents’ Trophy Wayne Simmonds Jersey , and the NHL-expansion Golden Knights carry the buzz entering the Western Conference playoffs, which have the potential of resembling nothing from the past.So step aside Chicago, which missed the playoffs for the first time in nine years, and say bye to the Blues, whose six-year playoff run is over. The changing of the West’s guard begins at the top, where Nashville clinched its first Central Division title by running away with the league’s best record. And then there’s Vegas, which broke every measureable NHL expansion record for success by going 51-24-7 to win the Pacific Division.Add in the talent-laden Winnipeg Jets, making their franchise’s third playoff appearance, and youth-filled Colorado Avalanche, who clinched their second berth in eight years, and it results in three of four first-time postseason matchups: Nashville versus Colorado, Vegas versus Los Angeles and Winnipeg facing Minnesota. The fourth matchup has Anaheim facing San Jose for only the second time after the Ducks eliminated the Sharks in six games during a 2009 first-round series.Of the eight teams, only three have won the Stanley Cup (Colorado, Anaheim and Los Angeles), while two have never won a playoff game (Vegas and Winnipeg, formerly Atlanta). The weight of expectations falls mostly on the Predators Womens Bryan Rust Jersey , who won’t be underestimated a year after the eighth-seeded team’s surge to the Final ended in a six-game loss to Pittsburgh. It was a run Nashville began against Chicago in becoming the first team to sweep a No. 1 seed in the opening round since the current playoff format was set in 1994.”I think our guys are well aware of what went on last year,” Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. ”For me, this group is looking down the tunnel at something, and all that other stuff is noise.”That’s not to say Laviolette didn’t play the ”everyone’s picking Chicago” card as motivation a year ago.”I might have used it,” he said with a wink. The Avalanche know their history, with forward Gabriel Landeskog listing how several No. 8 seeds have made deep playoff runs, including the 2012 Cup champion Kings.”Anything can happen in the playoffs. That’s kind of the mindset we’ve had,” Landeskog said of the Avalanche , who enjoyed a 47-point turnaround after finishing last a year ago. ”This is a big accomplishment to make after such a tough season. We’re not done.”PREDATORS vs AVALANCHENashville finished seventh in the league with 261 goals without any player scoring 30. The Predators’ balanced attack is fueled by a group of speedy, playmaking defensemen who combined for a league-best 206 points (56 goals, 150 assists). Pekka Rinne went 42-13-4 to finish third in victories, and his 2.31 goals-against average was third among goalies playing 40 or more games.Though Nashville has won 10 straight against Colorado, beware of the Presidents’ Trophy curse. Of the 31 teams to finish first since 1986 when the trophy was established, only eight have won the Cup, the last being Chicago in 2013.Nathan MacKinnon entered the MVP discussion by leading Colorado with 97 points, including a league-leading 12 game-winning goals. Colorado tied with Arizona with the youngest roster at 25.8 years old.GOLDEN KNIGHTS vs KINGSA Golden Knights team put together with other teams’ discards spent the season using a ”why not us?” mantra in setting expansion-team records for most wins (51) Josh Jooris Jersey Womens , home wins (29), road wins (22) and longest point streak (10-0-2). Vegas features six 20-goal-scorers, including trade-deadline addition Tomas Tatar. The Golden Knights closed the season 6-3-2, with the regulation losses coming against non-playoff teams: Arizona, Edmonton and Calgary. Marc Andre-Fleury went 29-13-4, but allowed six goals on 18 shots in a season-ending 7-1 loss at Calgary. The defensive-minded Kings allowed a league-low 202 goals and had the league’s best penalty-killing unit. Jonathan Quick’s 2.40 goals-against average was sixth among goalies appearing in 40 games.JETS vs WILDThe Jets closed their most successful season in both victories and points on a 20-5-1 run, including winning the final nine home games. Winnipeg is still searching for its first playoff victory after being swept in two previous appearances: by Anaheim in 2015, and by the Rangers in 2007, when Jets were based in Atlanta.Paul Stastny’s trade-deadline addition provided the NHL’s second-best offense with six 50-plus point producers. Third-year goalie Connor Hellebuyck went 44-11-9, and broke the single-season record for victories by U.S.-born goalies set by Tom Barrasso. The Wild limp into their sixth straight playoff appearance with defensemen Ryan Suter (broken right ankle) and Jared Spurgeon (torn right hamstring) sidelined, though Spurgeon is expected back from a 17-game absence in this series. Eric Staal’s 76 points (42 goals, 34 assists) were third-most in team history.DUCKS vs SHARKSThe Ducks earned home-ice advantage with a 3-0 season-ending win over Arizona, coupled with the Sharks’ season-ending 6-3 loss to Minnesota. Anaheim went 25-10-4 since the bye break, and is 14-1-2 at home since Jan. 23. Goalie John Gibson went 21-7-3 in his final 31 decisions, but missed the final week and is listed day to day with an upper body injury. The Sharks went 19-13-3 over their final 35 games since Joe Thornton was sidelined with a knee injury. Martin Jones allowed five goals on 19 shots against Minnesota, and is 1-4 in his past five while allowing 17 goals.CONFERENCE FINAL PREDICTIONNashville over Anaheim in five games. Nashville’s too deep and talented to avoid a letdown Melker Karlsson Jersey , while the Ducks have the experience to get through the injury-depleted Pacific and untested Vegas. Too bad the Predators and Jets face a potential second-round matchup more befitting of a West final.—AP Hockey Writer Stephen Whyno and sports writers Teresa M. Walker and Pat Graham contributed.— NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Yes, Predators forward Filip Forsberg has watched the video of his jaw-dropping goal against Colorado a couple times, and even he agrees putting the puck through not only his legs but a defender’s with a dangle ranks as his most creative yet.”I had some opportunities, but I haven’t finished any of them off,” Forsberg said. ”But it was good.”The Colorado Avalanche showed that they can give Nashville fits with their speed and too-young-to-know-better attitude with the youngest roster this postseason. Having a chance in this first-round Western Conference series against the NHL’s Presidents’ Trophy winners will mean figuring out a way to slow down the Predators’ top scorer.Forsberg’s two goals in the third period not only rallied Nashville to a 5-2 win in Game 1 , the forward is averaging more than a point per game for his career against Colorado. Forsberg now has 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists) and five game-winning goals in 21 games. He also outscored Colorado’s top line as Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen each had assists setting up the Avs’ opening goal.Coach Jared Bednar said he thought his Avalanche, playing without top defenseman Erik Johnson (knee injury), did a nice job on Forsberg most of the game. Sam Girard played 22 minutes, 7 seconds in his postseason debut against the team that drafted him.”He uses his skill and beats a guy one-on-one,” Bednar said of Forsberg. ”The go-ahead goal at 3-2 was a lucky bounce. They shot it wide, and he got to the right spot on the ice and hit maybe his stick and a shin pad. He just goes to the hard areas.”The Avalanche are catching Forsberg at a bad time. The 23-year-old forward from Ostervala, Sweden, now has 32 points in his last 31 games after leading the balanced Predators with 64 points in the regular season. The Predators have a chance Saturday in Game 2 at something they haven’t managed yet as a franchise: Taking a 2-0 series lead in their own building.”We’ve got to be better to get this done,” Forsberg said. Some things to watch Saturday:—Devils at Lightning Tyler Ennis Jersey Womens , Tampa Bay leads 1-0 (3 p.m EDT, NBC/CBNBC)The Lightning look and sound like a team rejuvenated by playing meaningful games again. The Atlantic Division champions spent the final three weeks of the regular season essentially biding time while awaiting the start of the playoffs. Captain Steven Stamkos said it was important to re-establish an edge in the series opener, and now the top seed in the Eastern Conference can take a commanding lead on the underdog Devils.”There’s a wealth of experience in this room, with guys that have been in this situation,” Stamkos said. ”I think you could tell, once the puck dropped, that we were very determined to set the tone and play the right way.”About half of New Jersey’s roster entered this series with no playoff experience. Coach John Hynes expects that to be less of a factor in Game 2.”I don’t really want to get into what the exact message with our team was, but it (basically) was don’t get too high, don’t get too low,” Hynes said. ”We have to make sure we understand the areas we’ve got to be better at, and I think mentally make sure that we’re ready to play a certain way.”—Maple Leafs at Bruins, Boston leads 1-0 (8 p.m. EDT, NBC)The Bruins may be without forward Tommy Wingels, who did not skate Friday after taking a hit from Toronto forward Nazem Kadri. Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said Wingels was being evaluated by doctors and lists him as questionable as the Bruins try to take a 2-0 lead.If Wingels can’t play, a possible replacement could be rookie forward Ryan Donato. Cassidy said the former Harvard star could make his postseason debut Saturday. Donato skated with Noel Acciari and David Backes in practice. Cassidy said they have options with Brian Gionta as a right wing and Danton Heinen, who can slide over.”I think Ryan played really well when he was here for his 12 games Tim Heed Jersey ,” said Cassidy. ”We plan on using Ryan, just want to pick the right time.”The Maple Leafs know they have to play better on special teams after giving up three power-play goals. They also spent Friday waiting to learn what punishment the NHL would give Kadri.”I don’t know what they’re going to do so might as well get prepared,” Toronto coach Mike Babcock said.—Sharks at Ducks, San Jose leads 1-0 (10:30 p.m. EDT, NBCSN)The Ducks looked largely lifeless as they gave away their home-ice advantage by failing to maintain the momentum from their impressive finish to the regular season. This is a familiar pattern for the veteran Ducks, who have lost Game 1 at home in four of their last five playoff series over the past three seasons. They won two of those series.Perhaps Evander Kane’s gritty two-goal performance in his playoff debut will get the Ducks’ attention, reminding them that they can’t play into the Sharks’ hands by skating on the perimeter of the ice and failing to generate consistent traffic in front of Martin Jones.Or maybe the Sharks are hitting their stride after losing five of their final six games in the regular season. San Jose was better on both ends to win the opener 3-0 .”They played how you’re supposed to play in the playoffs,” Anaheim forward Andrew Cogliano said of the Sharks. ”They played patient and played the right way. When you get chances, you have to score on them. You just execute the game plan. They did that. It seemed like we were stuck in the regular season and trying to make plays in the neutral zone, or turning the pucks over.”San Jose coach Peter DeBoer cautioned against getting excited about seeing Sharks center Joe Thornton on the ice in pregame warmups. Thornton has not played since Jan. 25 because of an injured right knee. DeBoer said the 38-year-old veteran is improving or wouldn’t be on the ice.”It’s not gamesmanship,” DeBoer said. ”He wants to be around the group, and he’s getting closer.”—AP Sports Writers Fred Goodall and Greg Beacham contributed to this report.—

GLENDALE Eric Tangradi Jersey Womens , Ariz. (AP) — The Philadelphia Flyers struggled to start the season and have seen one goalie after another go down with injuries. They kept battling and now are back to .500 after earning seven of a possible eight points on a just-completed road trip.Claude Giroux had two goals and an assist, Calvin Pickard stopped 35 shots and the Flyers beat the Arizona Coyotes 5-2 on Monday night.Once 4-7, Philadelphia went 3-0-1 on a swing through California and Arizona to get its season headed back in the right direction.“Tonight for sure wasn’t our prettiest game, but we found a way to win,” coach Dave Hakstol said. “There’s a lot of strengths that we like out of this road trip and there’s a lot of areas we can look at and try to improve as well.”The Flyers jumped on the Coyotes early, going up 2-0 after first-period goals from Giroux and Shayne Gostisbehere. Sean Couturier also scored and Oskar Lindblom added an empty-net goal to help the Flyers end Arizona’s five-game winning streak.“We probably needed a little more from a couple of guys, but the main part, I thought we battled back,” Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said. “In the third period http://www.officialislanders.com/authentic-adidas-casey-cizikas-jersey , we had our chances, they scored on theirs.”Pickard made his second straight start after Michael Neuvirth was placed on injured reserve and Brian Elliott was injured in a collision with teammate Travis Konecny during practice Sunday.Pickard was sharp most of the night, giving up Alex Galchenyuk’s power-play goal in the second period and Michael Grabner’s goal late in the third after giving up four goals in an overtime loss to San Jose on Sunday.“It’s good to get in a rhythm for sure,” Picard said after his fifth start of the season. “I’m starting to get more comfortable and I thought the last two were my best two so far.”The Coyotes went on a scoring binge during their win streak, outscoring opponents 24-7 over five games, including four straight games with at least three goals in the first period.Philadelphia had the jump early in this one, though, scoring midway through the first on a shot by Giroux from the blue line that goalie Darcy Kuemper had trouble seeing through traffic.Gostisbehere scored from near the same spot on a power play late in the period on a shot that caromed off Arizona center Derek Stepan’s stick past Kuemper.“It was a tough bounce,” Kuemper said. “Everyone’s trying to do the right thing and it kind of takes a weird deflection Adam Pelech Jersey Womens , but what can you do? You just have to keep working and get back into it.”The Coyotes did 64 seconds into the second period on a power play, when Galchenyuk wristed a shot from the right circle past Pickard, who was screened by Christian Fischer.Couturier put Philadelphia back up two goals, shooting into an open net from the right circle after Grabner collided with Kuemper and knocked him out of the crease.Giroux put the game out of reach with his sixth goal of the season in the third period, using a deke to beat Kuemper after a feed from Wayne Simmonds.“We’re happy about our road trip here, but we can’t be satisfied,” Lindblom said. “We have to come home and have a good stretch and build on this road trip, keep climbing in the standings.”NOTES: The Flyers called up Alex Lyon from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to shore up their lack of depth at goalie. … Coyotes D Kevin Connauton returned after missing two games with an illness. … The Flyers have allowed a power-play goal in eight straight games. … Arizona’s run of four straight games with a short-handed goal ended.UP NEXTThe Flyers and Coyotes meet against on Thursday in Philadelphia. WASHINGTON (AP) Victor Hedman figured all the Tampa Bay Lightning needed to get back on track was a shift in momentum. The big defenseman took it upon himself to provide it.Hedman scored his first goal of the playoffs and added two assists, and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 36 of 38 shots to help the Lightning beat the Washington Capitals 4-2 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final Tuesday night and cut their series deficit to 2-1. Hedman had the primary assist on power-play goals by Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov and was a key part of three big penalty kills for Tampa Bay.”I’m put in a position to produce Thomas Hickey Jersey Womens , and I put that pressure on myself to do it,” said Hedman, who has a goal and 10 assists during an eight-game point streak. ”For me, it’s about being effective at all ends of the ice and trying to be a difference-maker every time I step on it.”Hedman was dominant all over the ice as Tampa Bay looked like an entirely different team than the one that lost the first two games of the series at home and now has a chance to tie it in Game 4 on Thursday. The Norris Trophy finalist who played a team-high 25:08 was most proud of successful penalty kills.”He’s a perennial Norris guy,” Stamkos said of Hedman. ”We can’t describe how good he is out there. We rely on him a ton, he’s a horse and most nights if he’s going well, we’re going well as a team. Another big effort for him tonight, and you could see we all followed suit.”It wasn’t perfect, but it was a more complete effort from Tampa Bay John Tavares Jersey , which jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Brett Connolly answered for Washington in the second. Brayden Point’s goal less than five minutes later allowed the Atlantic Division champions to play with a comfortable lead that survived Evgeny Kuznetsov’s 6-on-5 goal with 3:02 remaining.Vasilevskiy was a big part of holding on to the lead as he made seven saves on the penalty kill as part of a bounce-back performance after being criticized for his play earlier in the series. It wasn’t perfect, but the Lightning began to make it up to Vasilevskiy for hanging him out to dry on so many odd-man rushes in Games 1 and 2 by improving their defensive-zone play.”We always feel like we owe him,” defenseman Anton Stralman said. ”He’s our best player. He’s always there, he’s always there for us and tonight we did a good job in front of him. I think that gives him some confidence, too, that he knows we’re on and that’s the way it should be.”The Capitals outshot the Lightning 38-23 but didn’t help goaltender Braden Holtby with six minor penalties. Holtby allowed four goals but was helpless on the one-timers on the power play by Stamkos and Kucherov – the 10th and 11th Tampa Bay power-play goals over a streak of seven games with at least one.”We know both teams have pretty good special teams, and if we’re going to play like that, they’re going to use it,” said Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin Authentic Jordan Eberle Jersey , who combined with Kuznetsov to put 21 shots on net. ”Obviously, you can see we didn’t score, they scored.”Tampa Bay got two injury scares in the third period when Stamkos hobbled off after taking a slap shot from teammate Braydon Coburn in the right knee and Tyler Johnson was cross-checked by Michal Kempny. Each returned minutes later.Sporting an ice pack on his right knee, Stamkos said it was just a stinger and that he was fine. He wants the Lightning to be feeling better but not too good still down 2-1.”We haven’t done anything yet,” Stamkos said. ”The goal is to win a championship, but you can’t look too far ahead. We’ve made it a series.”NOTES: C Lars Eller took three of Washington’s six penalties. … With his 10th career power-play goal, Stamkos tied Martin St. Louis for Tampa Bay’s playoff record. … Injured C Nicklas Backstrom (right hand) took part in the Capitals’ morning skate but missed his fourth consecutive game. Coach Barry Trotz continues to call Backstrom day-to-day. … Trotz set a franchise record by coaching his 54th playoff game with Washington.—

With Nashville on the power play, Kapanen stripped P.K Subban of the puck at the Predators’ blue line for a breakaway. Craig Smith caught up to Kapanen who initially blocked his path to the goal, but Kapanen spun around Smith and put a wrist shot through the legs of Rinne to give Toronto a 2-0 lead at 9:38.The Predators scored their first goal of the game when Pontus Aberg’s shot hit van Riemsdyk on the way to the net. Sissons picked up the loose puck and beat an out-of-position Andersen at 18:10. Nashville tied it early in the third when Arvidsson picked up a rebound in front of Andersen and shot the puck through his legs.UP NEXTPredators: At Ottawa on Thursday night.Maple Leafs: Host Ottawa on Saturday night.— COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Three straight overtime finishes to start the postseason? No problem. That’s what the Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals were saying after Tuesday night’s double- OT game, one that finally ended when the puck pinballed around the front of the net, hitting Columbus defenseman Zach Werenski and the Capitals’ Lars Eller before squirting past goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.”Real ugly” was how Eller put it afterward. But it was a win, one that Washington badly needed after losing two straight overtime games at home. The Capitals needed 89 minutes to win Game 3, the longest game in Blue Jackets history and one played in front of the largest hockey crowd ever at Nationwide Arena.Of the first 26 games of the NHL playoffs www.blackhawksshoponline.com , there have been four overtime games in all, with three of them in this series (Vegas and Los Angeles also had a double OT game during the Golden Knights‘ sweep). It is the sixth time in playoff history that the first three games of a series went to OT.Care to make it four? The two teams go at it again on Thursday night (7:30 p.m. EDT, USA) with Columbus looking to take a 3-1 lead. Despite the extra hockey and nail-biting drama, nobody is feeling the burn. At least not that they’re saying.”I didn’t see any guys dying out there,” Columbus captain Nick Foligno said. ”I think we’re in really good condition for this time of year. I don’t think any guys worried about that.”Washington coach Barry Trotz said his team is accustomed to managing overtime games and then coming back. It all builds character, he said.”The playoffs are a test of will, even if it’s not overtime,” he said. ”What I think overtime makes you do is concentrate when you’re tired. You have to be in that moment. You can’t cut that corners Chicago Blackhawks T-Shirts Womens , you can’t do that fly-by when you’re really tired, you can’t cheat because those are the times the puck ends up in the back of your net.”Columbus coach John Tortorella said he thinks his guys are fine.”I’ll tell you right now, if we’re fatigued three games in, holy crap,” he said. ”We’re just starting. It was a long game last night and we’ve had some overtime games, but that’s all part of it. You just can’t be tired. I don’t even think you can start talking about fatigue until you’re in a couple of rounds from now.”POWER LINEAfter recording 20 points in the first two games against the Maple Leafs, the Boston line of David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron was held scoreless in Game 3. The Bruins are counting on their production to return for Game 4 in Toronto on Thursday night.”I thought our top line was fine for the most part Sam Reinhart Jersey , they just didn’t finish,” coach Bruce Cassidy said after the 4-2 loss that cut Boston’s lead in the series to 2-1. ”They (the Maple Leafs) were determined to keep them off the score sheet, and they did.”While the Leafs had bad luck in the first two games – though that wasn’t their only problem, as the combined 12-4 score could attest – in Game 3 it was Pastrnak who hit the post on one shot and then Toronto’s Frederik Andersen made great saves on two others, first with his glove and then with his stick. After two games, four Bruins led the NHL in postseason scoring – Pastrnak (4 goals, 5 assists), Marchand (1 Womens Zemgus Girgensons Jersey , 5), Bergeron (0, 5), plus defenseman Torey Krug (0, 5). Pastrnak’s nine points still led the league heading into Wednesday night’s games.ABOUT THAT CALLCassidy took issue with a penalty call he says NHL officials made on a hunch in a 4-2 loss to Toronto in Game 3.Bruins forward Riley Nash was handed a delay of game penalty for clearing the puck over the glass on Monday. But the puck touched the glass before entering the crowd, which would negate the minor penalty, and officials missed it. Nash was sent to the box at 16:58 of the first period.Seven seconds later, James van Riemsdyk scored to put Toronto ahead 1-0. It was the first time in the series the Leafs scored first.Cassidy http://www.officialflames.com/authentic-adidas-jaromir-jagr-jersey , whose team leads the series 2-1, spoke to the officials at the beginning of the second period and wanted to know who of the four (two referees, two linesmen) decided to give Nash the two-minute penalty.”My question was: who made the call? There’s no call immediately,” he said. ”When a referee makes a call you kind of live with it because it’s decisive. So now they get together and I assume they want to make the right call, that’s the idea, but to me they got together and clearly they guessed because it hit the glass and we saw that. I think you’re kind of innocent until proven guilty.”Game 4 is Thursday at Air Canada Centre (7 p.m. EDT, NBCSN).—AP Sports Writer Jimmy Golen in Boston contributed to this report.—

When a lot of people take into consideration going green Patriots Stephen Gostkowski Jersey , they immediately envision folk living in a camp environment and making their own garments and growing their own food source. Actually, it is not required to go to that extreme to begin switching to a greener way of life. There are people who will take a plastic bottle or food tin and place it with their daily waste. In the interests of future generations, you can play a role by recycling these whenever possible.

NEW YORK — The season is just two games old Ottawa Senators Hoodies Authentic , but it has already been a transitional one for the New York Islanders and their new head coach, Barry Trotz. The adaptation process will continue Monday afternoon, when Robin Lehner makes his first start for the Islanders in a Columbus Day matinee against the San Jose Sharks at Barclays Center. It will be the third game of the season for both teams. The Islanders dropped their home opener Saturday, when they fell to the Nashville Predators, 4-3. Article continues below ...The Sharks last played Friday, when they earned a 3-2 overtime win over the host Los Angeles Kings. The narrow defeat for the Islanders on Saturday left Trotz — who coached the Washington Capitals to the team’s first Stanley Cup last spring — in the unfamiliar position of trying to find positives in a loss. New York, which allowed the most goals in the NHL last season (296) and lost star John Tavares to the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent in July, followed up a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday by keeping the Western Conference powerhouse Predators off the scoreboard in the third period.“I thought we had some pretty good stretches,” Trotz told reporters afterward. “Our overall game, I thought we were pretty good. I thought we handled their speed well. I thought we managed the puck a lot better than we did in Carolina.”The Sharks also felt good about themselves following the adjustments they made against the Kings, whom they limited to one goal over the final two periods and overtime while getting their first win when New York native Kevin Labanc scored 2:54 into the extra period.“I thought the third period we really pressed, and I thought we were the better team in the third,” said Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer, whose squad outshot the Kings 12-5 in the third period and overtime. “The guys played as if we needed to win this game and we found a way to do it.”Trotz said following practice Sunday that Lehner Ottawa Senators Hats Authentic , who signed with the Islanders in July following three seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, would draw the start Monday. It will be the first regular season game for Lehner since he entered alcohol rehab and began receiving treatment for bipolar disorder last spring.“I feel I’m ready to play,” Lehner told reporters Sunday. “There are still a few things we’re working on. We’re changing a few things I’ve been doing my whole life. That’s not an overnight thing.”Lehner is 0-4-0 in four career appearances against the Sharks.Martin Jones is likely to draw his third straight start for the Sharks. Jones is 1-0-0 in two career games against the Islanders. The Sharks will be without veteran center Joe Thornton, who was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury Sunday. To replace Thornton on the active roster, San Jose recalled center Dylan Gambrell from its AHL affiliate. The Islanders will be hosting a Western Conference foe on Columbus Day afternoon for the third time in four seasons since moving to Barclays Center. New York suffered a 3-2 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues last season and beat the Winnipeg Jets, 4-2, in 2015. BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Forward Victor Olofsson had never heard of Rasmus Dahlin until encountering the then-16-year-old defenseman during their first practice together with Frolunda in Sweden two years ago.”He got the puck on the blue line and I was going toward him, and he just put it between my legs and went in and scored,” Olofsson when the two were reunited at the Buffalo Sabres‘ prospect development camp.”I thought it was a fluke at first,” he said. ”But when he did it again and again, it’s not just a fluke.”What Olofsson first witnessed was put on display during the four-day camp and in front of crowds of 2,000 fans, who turned out daily to catch their first glimpse of the No. 1 player selected in the NHL draft June 22.Dahlin performed as advertised with his effortless skating ability Custom Ottawa Senators Jerseys , and head-up, stick-handling style that made it seem as if the 18-year-old had the puck on a string.Seemingly trapped behind the net during a 3-on-3 scrimmage Saturday, Dahlin shifted right and then moved left to get around one defender, before making a nifty deke to avoid another. There was the goal he scored Wednesday, when Dahlin drove into the slot, leaned to his right before snapping a shot inside the left post. The play capturing everyone’s attention was a clean, open-ice check the lean, 6-foot-2, 185-pound Dahlin delivered in bowling over forward Matej Pekar on Friday.”Oh, yeah, it just happens sometimes,” Dahlin said with a shrug. Not lost on numerous observers, was how the hit might have been payback, coming a day after Pekar caught Dahlin with a high stick.”I think it probably validates what we know how competitive a kid he is. He certainly doesn’t have a short-term memory www.officialflyersproshop.com ,” assistant general manager Steve Greeley said. ”But that’s one of the attributes we loved about him.”Pekar never saw Dahlin coming.”I’ve never seen him hit somebody like that,” Pekar said. ”I thought it was somebody else. But I was surprised, yeah.”An hour later, the two laughed about what happened over lunch.Coach Phil Housley was cautious in saying he didn’t want to place too much emphasis on one play or player during a development camp. And yet, the Hall of Fame defenseman noted the promise Dahlin brings to a franchise that has finished last in three of the past five years and is in the midst of a team-worst seven-year playoff drought.”To get the player we got, it’s really important for our city and western New York. It gives a little hope that we get a first overall pick,” Housley said. ”It was a big moment for our franchise.”Dahlin was wowed by the fan turnout, saying he never had anyone cheer when he previously scored during practice. He also noted how many fans were already wearing his No. 26 Sabres jersey, which was priced at more than $200 since going on sale Monday.”I’m super impressed that they even know who I am,” Dahlin said. ”I know they love hockey. And I will try to win hockey games so we can give back to them.”Sabres co-owner Kim Pegula was struck by the poise Dahlin shows for his age.She recalled a conversation she had with her husband, Terry Pegula, before the Sabres first met with Dahlin at the NHL combine in Buffalo in late May.”I said to Terry, no one says anything bad about him. And I’m like, `There’s got to be something. He’s got to have a weakness Philadelphia Flyers T-Shirts Authentic ,”’ Pegula told The Associated Press.”But everyone from his coaches to players who have played with him, all of them rave about him,” she added.”You can definitely see as a young man playing in the Swedish men’s league how that experience has really matured him,” Pegula said. ”You can see the benefits of that as he’s handled the press, as he’s handled the combine, the world juniors and the draft. So he’s been exceptional in all those areas.”Dahlin has spent the past two years playing in Sweden’s Elite League , where he had eight goals and 15 assists in 67 games. In February, he represented Sweden at the South Korean Winter Games, where he had an assist in two games.Next step is the NHL, where he is all but assured of a spot on Buffalo’s roster in October. Dahlin is taking nothing for granted by shrugging off the accolades directed his way.”Of course it’s fun to hear,” Dahlin said. ”But you have to put in the work, too.”—
