It’s time to break out the red marker again for another year of report card grades for the Detroit Lions. Each week Detroit Lions Hats , I’ll be handing out your normal A through F grades for each position on the roster. Based on the Lions’ Week 1 performance against the New York Jets, I think I’m going to run out of red ink before the bye week. Quarterbacks: FThere is no excuse for the game Matthew Stafford had. I don’t care if the Jets recognized his hand signals. I don’t care if the play-calling was predictable. I don’t care if there was a sleeper-cell agent inside the Lions huddle (my money is on Luke Willson). You can’t make the kind of mistakes Stafford did all game. Stafford made some extremely poor reads, and looked completely flustered when pressured. I haven’t seen him play that badly in a long, long time. Running backs: DLeGarrette Blount looked completely ineffective, rushing for -3 yards on four carries. He was effectively benched in the game after nearly fumbling, and it didn’t seem like he could break a single tackle. The Lions decided to ride with Theo Riddick for most of the game, and outside of a bad drop, Riddick didn’t do horribly, but he certainly still doesn’t look capable of being a lead back. As expected, Kerryon Johnson looked the best of the group, but the guy only got eight touches and turned them into 37 yards. Tight ends: FIf Monday is any indication, tight ends are not going to figure into the Lions’ passing offense game plan. Pure blocker Levine Toilolo led all tight ends in snaps, and considering the Lions’ couldn’t run the ball and Stafford got hurt twice, I think it’s fairly safe to say the tight end game plan didn’t work all that well. Michael Roberts and Luke Willson are continuing to have an extremely disappointing two months to start the year. Wide receivers: C-Just about every wide receiver had a bad in this game, but this unit did also produce the only player worth talking about in a positive fashion: Kenny Golladay. Not only did Golladay surprise with an extremely efficient game (after a quiet camp and preseason) but he also had the hit of the game: Golladay finished with seven catches on 12 targets for 144 yards, and there’s the end of nice things I’ll be saying for the rest of this article. Offensive line: COkay, maybe one more nice thing. Despite Stafford getting beat up, I thought the offensive line pass blocked relatively well. Stafford didn’t take a single sack in the game Detroit Lions Hoodie , and at times, he had an extremely long time to throw. There were some mistakes made. Frank Ragnow had a very up-and-down NFL debut, but overall, I think the Lions offensive line did much more good than bad when it came to pass blocking. The problem is we were all promised an improved run blocking performance this year, and that obviously never materialized. Detroit was pretty much forced to abandon the run halfway through the game, so maybe better things are on the horizon in games that don’t get way out of control, but for one night, it looked like more of the same.Defensive line: D-For a brief moment, it looked like the defensive line may have been better than advertised in the preseason. The Lions notched two first-quarter sacks after only have two total during the entire exhibition season. But then Ezekiel Ansah predictably went down with an injury, and Sam Darnold had all day to pick apart the Lions secondary for the final three quarters. The interior of the line, led by two aging veterans, failed to provide any push nor did they plug any running lanes. They are who we thought they were. Linebackers: DI’m not really sure what unit I should give credit for Devon Kennard, but since he’s listed as a linebacker, I guess I’ll give it to them. Outside of Quandre Diggs’ pick-six, he was the only notable positive performer on the defensive side of the ball. Missed tackles, poor angles, bad play recognition: it was all there. Secondary: FThey weren’t helped out by a poor pass rush, but the Diggs’ interception was long forgotten by the second quarter. Nevin Lawson was punished Youth Customized Detroit Lions Jerseys , as predicted. Tavon Wilson failed to make a play on Darnold’s 41-yard touchdown bomb, and the secondary was completely ineffective in run defense. Quin continues to look his age. Special teams: F-I rarely pull out the F minus, but the Lions’ special teams unit fully earned it on Monday night. Former Lions punt returner Andre Roberts just annihilated the Lions’ special teams units, and averaged FORTY-FIVE YARDS PER PUNT RETURN. Meanwhile Matt Prater missed a couple kicks. Coaching: FI don’t know if the Lions offense is tipping plays, and at this point, I don’t really care. The offense is inefficient and it’s clear the same problems that have plagued the unit for years remain. This offense looks absolutely no different after an entire offseason to adjust. That’s poor coaching whether the defense knows your plays or not.On top of that, there were some seriously puzzling personnel decisions that appears to have backfired. Bradley Marquez was kept on the 53-man roster specifically for his special teams acumen, and his punt return coverage was especially bad on Monday. A’Shawn Robinson was a healthy scratch, and with only two defensive tackles dressed, Sylvester Williams and Ricky Jean Francois looked dead tired in the second half—each posting over 75 percent of snaps. Also, can we unleash Kerryon Johnson next week, please? I love you, Theo, but you should never be getting carries inside the 10-yard line.Unsung hero of the week: Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers Another week, another heartbreak for Detroit Lions fans. While Sunday’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers was a tough loss, there was definite improvement over the showing we saw Monday night against the New York Jets. With that being said, it will be a little bit easier to hand out this week’s award for unsung hero of the week. The series highlights one player whose performance, be it throughout the whole game or in a single moment www.lionsauthorizedshops.com , played an important role in the Lions’ success but may not have been the most memorable.Unsung hero of the week: LeGarrette BlountLeGarrette Blount’s biggest highlight on Sunday came from the sidelines, shoving down 49ers linebacker Elijah Lee after a questionable hit on Matthew Stafford as Stafford ran out of bounds on a scramble. Blount was ejected from the game, the Lions were tagged with a 15-yard penalty that turned a third-and-2 into third-and-17, and announcers Chris Spielman and Thom Brennaman began talking about Blount’s uncontrollable anger that dates back to his college days. There’s no doubt that it was a poor decision by Blount to lash out and cost the team like that, but if you want to hear both sides of the argument the POD staff talks more about it on this week’s PODcast around the 20 minute mark. We’re here to discuss what Blount did right, however. While it was a rough day for Stafford until the fourth quarter, the ground game was uncharacteristically steady and sound throughout the afternoon. Kerryon Johnson stole the show with this 21-yard scamper around the outside, with the rest of his carries looking pretty ordinary. Blount was a little bit more consistent, however, steadily churning out 5-to-10-yard carries from early on in the game, even making positive yardage out of plays when he was swamped in the backfield. His best run, while not as big as Johnson’s, was the running that Blount does best.via GfycatFortunately for the Lions, Blount showed the same passion while running as he did when charging from the sidelines. That allowed Blount to hold it down until Johnson got into a rhythm later in the game. While Blount might have caught the most attention from his unsportsmanlike play, his play in between the tackles was noteworthy and uncharacteristically good for a Lions running back, and for that reason Blount earns this week’s honors. Who do you think had a quietly good game against the 49ers? Let us know in the comments.

The Lions are in last place Detroit Lions Hoodie , but only a game out of first. Tate is on pace for a third straight season with 1,000 yards receiving, but he's on an expiring contract."There are a lot of difficult decisions that are made in the NFL multiple times during the course of the year," Detroit coach Matt Patricia said Wednesday. The Lions dealt Tate to Philadelphia on Tuesday for a third-round draft pick, parting with the veteran receiver right before a pair of crucial divisional road games. Detroit faces Minnesota this weekend and then heads to Chicago, but the trade — which didn't bring the Lions anyone who can help this season — was clearly a move made with the long-term future in mind."It's a holistic picture of taking a look at what's the best thing for us to do as a team," Patricia said. "It's not about one player. It's about team. It's about everybody. We have a lot of guys that are really good on this team that can produce and honestly, for me, we have confidence in everybody that's on this team right now."General manager Bob Quinn released a statement Tuesday thanking Tate for his contributions, but it was left to Patricia to take questions about the organization's thinking. Tate is in the final season of his contract, so from that standpoint the Lions got decent value for a player who may have ended up elsewhere anyway. But it's hard to say what this year's team could have accomplished with Tate. Detroit fired coach Jim Caldwell after he went 9-7 last season, an indication the organization felt it was capable of more. Now the Lions have sent mixed signals about what they feel their potential is in 2018.Before last weekend's game, Detroit sent a draft pick to the New York Giants for defensive tackle Damon Harrison, a move that could help shore up the run defense. Then the Lions lost to Seattle last weekend and traded Tate.So Detroit was both a buyer and a seller at the deadline."We have coaches, and I let those guys coach. We have managers, and I let those guys manage Customized Detroit Lions Jerseys ," safety Glover Quin said. "We have players, and our job is to go out and play, so the guys who we have to go out and play with, that's who we've got, and that's all that we can control."In trading Tate, the Lions seemed to move away from their approach of the past few years. Detroit has used draft picks and free agent signings to try to surround quarterback Matthew Stafford with plenty of help. The Lions have tried to upgrade their offensive line, and this year they appear to have made real progress with their running game. They also might have had more receiving targets than they needed. Marvin Jones is coming off his own 1,000-yard season, and second-year receiver Kenny Golladay looks like he could be a star."If everybody's just going to sit around here and mope, that's just not going to help the team," Marvin Jones said. "We're on to the Vikings."Still, Tate's production won't be easy to replace."He's had 90-plus catches I think every year he's been here, so that's a lot of touches, a lot of targets for everyone to pick up," receiver TJ Jones said. "We're all going to collectively do it."NOTES: The Lions signed LB Kelvin Sheppard, signed DE Alex Barrett to the practice squad www.authenticsdetroitlions.com , and released TE Jerome Cunningham from the practice squad. ... DE Ziggy Ansah (shoulder), T Taylor Decker (back), G T.J. Lang (hip) and RB Theo Riddick (knee) were limited at practice. Kerryon Johnson: 9 carries http://www.lionscheapstore.com/matt-prater-jersey-cheap , 55 yards, 1 TDLeGarrette Blount: 7 carries, 12 yardsIt’s hard to look at that and not think, “Why is Blount getting any carries at all?” The picture looks even worse when you look at the season totals. Johnson is averaging 5.7 yards per carry on 38 rushes. Blount is averaging 2.7 yards per carry on 35 rushes. Yeah, Johnson is getting three more yards PER CARRY than Blount right now. These facts fuel the fire that the Detroit Lions are being downright irresponsible with their running back usage. Despite the large disparity in productivity, their touches are nearly identical and their playing time is fairly similar (104 snaps for Johnson, 70 for Blount). Fans were especially frustrated with the Lions’ usage of Johnson on Sunday against the Cowboys. After taking the opening carry for 32 yards, Johnson ran the ball just eight more times the entire game, effectively shutting down the team’s running game the rest of the way. However, looking a little closer into the situation, it becomes pretty clear: Giving Kerryon Johnson more carries on Sunday would’ve made very little difference in the overall outcome. Here’s why:Kerryon Johnson wasn’t efficient running the ballLast week, I gushed about Johnson’s amazing performance against the Patriots. Nearly every one of his carries throughout the first 55 minutes of that game were “successful.” Here’s what I wrote:Basing success on Football Outsiders’ metrics, against the Cowboys, Johnson was successful on just three of nine rushes. Another impressive part of Johnson’s performance in Week 3 was his ability to eliminate rushes of little-to-no gain. Only one of 16 runs was stopped for a yard or less. Against the Cowboys, it was a much different story:Here was the progression of Johnson nine carries in order: 32 yards, 4, -1, 1, 0, 3, 2, 0, 8, 6. So during the middle portion of the game—when many argued Johnson deserved more touches—Johnson had 5 yards on six carries. Admittedly, LeGarrette Blount wasn’t any better (1.7 YPC for the game), but it’s not like Johnson was giving Detroit’s running game a boost at that point in the game. Rhythm mythMany believe that for a running back to be successful, he needs to be in the game consistently to get a feel for the game. Players will especially harp on this point, as Ameer Abdullah did this offseason on the Michael Rapaport podcast:“It’s frustrating, especially coming from Nebraska where I was the guy,” Abdullah said. “I knew I was going to get the ball at least 20 times a game, and for me, it’s not necessarily getting a certain amount of touches, it’s getting meaningful touches and getting into a rhythm.”But there is little empirical evidence supporting the idea of “getting into a rhythm”. Several studies have been done on the topic, and—much like the basketball “hot hand” myth—there is no statistical basis for this theory. From PFF’s Kevin Cole:All you have to do is go back to last week and see that Johnson was still very effective despite splitting time with Blount throughout the entire game. Here’s a look at the progressions of carries from Week 3:Blount, Blount, Johnson, Blount Cheap Matthew Stafford Jersey , Johnson, Johnson, Johnson, Blount, Johnson, Blount, Johnson, Johnson, Blount, Johnson, Blount, Johnson, Blount, Johnson, Johnson, Blount, Johnson, Johnson, Blount, Johnson, Blount, Johnson, Johnson, Blount, Johnson, Johnson, Blount, BlountIf Johnson’s rhythm was disrupted by this constant switching of backs—often times in the middle of drives—we certainly didn’t see any signs of it in his on-field performance in Week 3, so there’s no reason to believe Johnson’s lack of rhythm was the cause of his struggles on against the Cowboys.T.J. Lang injuryLang has been one of the Lions’ best offensive linemen since he joined the team last year. Unfortunately, the injury has caused him to miss a lot of time, and the Lions have struggled to find an adequate replacement. That was certainly the case on Sunday. Before his injury, the Lions rushed for 40 yards on six carries. Yes, that is heavily skewed by a 32-yard run, but the rest of the way, Johnson and Blount combined for just 27 yards on 11 carries (2.5 YPC). The other factor here is the Dallas defense. The Cowboys are allowing just 3.6 yards per carry as a team (sixth best). This isn’t the Patriots defense, there was just not much room to run, and with Lang out Cheap Darius Slay Jr Jersey , Detroit couldn’t run the ball no matter who was in the game. When would the Lions have given Johnson more carries?I’ve seen a lot of people complain about Johnson getting more touches, but I haven’t seen many suggest specific times he should’ve been in the game. And herein lies the problem. In the first half, Johnson got six carries, which is a respectable number. I can understand if you wanted a little more in the first half (Blount had five), but if you think the Lions abandoned their gameplan in the second half, that would be highly misleading. The Lions offense barely even had the ball in the second half. Because of the defense’s ineptitude, the Lions had just three possessions in the second half and 16 total plays. By comparison, the Cowboys had four possessions and 42 plays. So of the Lions’ 16 second half plays, they gave Johnson the ball three times. Should that number have been higher? Maybe, but remember, they were also playing from behind for much of the second half, so there weren’t a lot of opportunities to run the ball. Also, the Lions managed to score touchdowns on two of their three possessions in the second half, so it’s not like their overall efficiency needed much improvement. Or to sum up a little less poetically:DurabilityNo one wants to say it, but Kerryon Johnson isn’t built to be a complete workhorse back in the NFL. That option is only available to a very select few, your Ezekiel Elliotts and Adrian Petersons. At 5-foot-11, 205 pounds, Kerryon Johnson doesn’t have the body size to get 20+ carries a game, and the Lions would be abusing their power if they were to do that to a player like him just a few games into his NFL career.Auburn didn’t seem afraid of that (he averaged 23.8 carries per game his senior year), but it resulted in a broken-down Johnson. The days of a workhorse back are nearly through in the NFL, and Johnson doesn’t fit the profile for that increasingly rare role. That being said, there’s a pretty big difference between nine and 20 carries per game. On an average week, there’s no doubt that Johnson should be getting closer to at least 15 carries a game. But against the Cowboys, the opportunities weren’t there, the productivity wasn’t there, and the game situation made it so a more involved Kerryon Johnson wouldn’t have likely changed anything about how the game played out. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is good to go for Sunday’s game against the Lions, and there’s no question about it.The Packers removed Rodgers from the official injury report, meaning his knee is healthy enough that he’s practicing without restrictions and there’s no chance it will keep him off the field on Sunday.Rodgers had been on every injury report since suffering a knee injury against the Bears in Week One, and there were concerns that his injured knee could be an issue for him in three subsequent games, but he hasn’t looked any worse for wear.Packers cornerback Kevin King was also removed from the injury report, so he’ll play for the first time since suffering a groin injury in Week Two. Tight end Jimmy Graham (knee) and tackle Bryan Bulaga (back) also were removed from the injury report.Eight Packers are listed as questionable: receivers Davante Adams (calf) and Geronimo Allison (concussion/hamstring), cornerbacks Jaire Alexander (groin) and Bashaud Breeland (hamstring), safeties Kentrell Brice (ankle) and Jermaine Whitehead (back), and guards Justin McCray (shoulder) and Lucas Patrick (back).Wide receiver Randall Cobb (hamstring) has already been ruled out.

NASHVILLE Womens Niklas Hjalmarsson Jersey , Tenn. (AP) For a guy who was drafted 258th overall in 2004, Pekka Rinne has put together quite a career.Rinne made 33 saves in his 300th NHL win and the Nashville Predators routed the San Jose Sharks 7-1 on Thursday night. After being selected the game’s first star, Rinne was overcome with emotion as Nashville fans saluted him on the bench.”I didn’t want to cry, to be honest with you,” Rinne said. ”In those moments, you take a look back. You know your parents are watching the game. It’s pretty cool.”Nick Bonino, Ryan Johansen and Viktor Arvidsson each had a goal and an assist, and Scott Hartnell, Kevin Fiala and Mattias Ekholm also scored for Nashville, which has won three straight. The Predators moved within one point of expansion Vegas for the Western Conference lead.Nashville defensemen Roman Josi and P.K. Subban each had two assists. All of Rinne’s wins have come with Nashville. He tied former Predators goalie Tomas Vokoun for 33rd place in NHL history.”His whole career, he’s just been fantastic. Not only tonight, not only this year, but his whole career he’s just been incredible for this organization the way he’s backstopped it for so many years with so much consistency,” Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said. ”What you see on the ice is incredible. The person that he is is even better than that, so we’re fortunate to have a guy like that here.”Logan Couture had the San Jose goal. The loss snapped the Sharks’ three-game winning streak.”It didn’t feel like a 7-1 game http://www.officialoilers.com/authentic-adidas-connor-mcdavid-jersey ,” coach Peter DeBoer said. ”Obviously, we own it, that’s what it ended up being. 3-1 going into the third, we’re on the power play, I thought we were playing a pretty decent road game.”Bonino scored the game’s first goal at 1:55 of the opening period.Josi’s shot from the left point hit traffic in front and Bonino beat Sharks defenseman Dylan DeMelo to the puck near the left post. Bonino took it around the net and beat goalie Aaron Dell to the right post with a wraparound for his ninth of the season.Hartnell made it 2-0 with 42.5 seconds remaining in the first. From the right boards, Bonino made a no-look backhand pass to Hartnell, who was skating through the slot and tipped it by Dell.Dell finished with 39 saves.Couture shaved the Nashville lead in half at 8:39 of the second. After skating the puck below the goal line on the right side, Couture lifted a seemingly harmless backhand toward the Nashville net and the puck somehow squeezed between Rinne and the near post for Couture’s team-leading 25th of the season.Nashville regained a two-goal lead at 15:57.Fiala carried the puck into the San Jose zone on the right side on a 2-on-1 with Craig Smith against DeMelo. Fiala attempted a forehand-to-backhand move, but lost control. The puck’s momentum carried it forward and it slipped between Dell’s pads.”Obviously these games, they feel awful. They’re not fun to be a part of,” San Jose defenseman Brent Burns said. ”It was like one of those just nightmare nights that’s no fun to play.”Arvidsson scored a power-play goal at 3:49 of the third, his fourth goal in three games. Johansen scored 2:40 later from the slot. Ekholm made it 6-1 at 11:00 of the third and Jarnkrok concluded the scoring at 17:51.Rinne’s teammates were thrilled to see him reach 300 wins.”Ever since I got here, he’s been the backbone of this team and he does it night-in and night-out,” Ekholm said. ”It’s a huge accomplishment and big congrats to him.”NOTES: Smith had one assist, extending his point streak to six games. … Arvidsson played in his 200th NHL game. … San Jose went 0 for 5 on the power play. (AP) — Willie Desjardins realizes the Los Angeles Kings have more than enough time to turn around their dismal start to the season. The interim head coach still wants his Kings to play as if their season and their jobs are on the line in early November.Desjardins ran an energetic practice Monday to begin his tenure with the Kings, who fired John Stevens and assistant coach Don Nachbaur on Sunday in a shakeup of the struggling club. Desjardins didn’t promise any magic solutions to the Kings’ woes, but he plans to impress urgency upon his new players.“I think the theme we had was that we can’t wait,” Desjardins said. “You only have so many years that you have a chance to win, and you’ve got to win now. The easy road would be to say that we can’t do it this season. You can’t afford to waste a season, because you never know what’s going to happen. It’s the same with me. I didn’t know if I would get another shot at the NHL, so this is my chance. I’ve got to make it work, and that’s the same message to the players.“You’ve got to find a way to make this season work. What exactly it is, we’ve got to find out.”Desjardins didn’t land his first NHL head coaching job until he was 57 years old, leading the Vancouver Canucks from 2014-17. After taking the young Canadian national team to Olympic bronze medals last February, he returned home to Medicine Hat, Alberta, and started a hockey school.General manager Rob Blake abruptly called him last week with the chance to take over the struggling Kings, who haven’t returned to the heights they reached during their Stanley Cup championship seasons in 2012 and 2014. Los Angeles still has a wealth of top-end NHL players, including defenseman Drew Doughty Oscar Klefbom Jersey , captain Anze Kopitar, forward Jeff Carter and goalie Jonathan Quick, who is injured. After the Canucks fired him, Desjardins didn’t want to return to the NHL as an assistant coach. He was thrilled to get another chance to be a head coach with a team possessing as much talent as the Kings — even if his current contract only lasts until the end of this season.“Coming in here, it’s a great situation,” Desjardins said. “I think there’s lots to work with. Sometimes you have situations where you don’t have much of a chance to be successful. They’ve got a lot of good pieces here. There’s some really quality people within this team, some high-end guys.”The Kings are in a funk at 4-8-1 heading into their Freeway Faceoff showdown with the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. Desjardins said he can’t immediately shake up the Kings’ playing style, so he will lean on assistant coach Dave Lowry as he attempts to get better results from the same players and largely the same schemes used under Stevens for now.“It’s hard, because one of the big things you need from players and coaches, you’ve got to have some trust,” Desjardins said. “And trust is gained over time, but we don’t have time for that. You’ve got to trust each other right now. That’s harder to do, but we’ve got to do it.”Blake sharply criticized his players’ competitiveness and determination while firing Stevens. The veteran Kings didn’t disagree with their boss after their first workout under Desjardins.“It’s rather apparent that you can’t be successful in this league, or in life in general, if you don’t have the emotion and the passion http://www.officialoilers.com/authentic-adidas-ryan-nugent-hopkins-jersey ,” Kings defenseman Alec Martinez said. “That’s what we’ve learned this week.”Carter was particularly dismayed by the players’ role in the departure of Stevens, who also was his coach in Philadelphia before Stevens was fired during the 2008-09 season.“I think the world of him,” Carter said of Stevens. “A lot of guys in here do. I guess that needs to be a big wakeup call for everybody in this room that we need to get our act together. We haven’t played good enough hockey, that’s the bottom line. It’s compete. It’s energy. It’s everybody doing their job.”Desjardins doesn’t expect to fix everything quickly, but he has the winter to work on it. His family is staying in Alberta for now, so Desjardins plans to devote pretty much every waking hour to his work — and there is plenty to work on.The Kings are the NHL’s lowest-scoring team with 28 goals in their 13 games, with meager shot creation and an inconsistent power play. They’re also not playing up their traditional defensive standards, allowing 45 goals after finishing last season as the NHL’s stingiest team.“It means we’re not getting the job done, and that’s the disappointing part,” Los Angeles defenseman Dion Phaneuf said. “Ultimately it’s on us as players. When a change is made, it’s not about the coaching staff. It’s about us not getting the job done.”

Behind the mask is a mind filled with a web of a thousand thoughts Authentic Pekka Rinne Jersey Kids , worries and a singular focus of what it takes to win a game. Then the next game, then the one after that.”There is no shut-off for a goaltender,” retired goalie Brian Boucher said. ”The mind doesn’t shut off.”A starting NHL goaltender bears a burden unlike any position in hockey and few others in sports, and the resulting pressure builds up over the course of a season. By this time of year, with the playoffs on the horizon, No. 1 goalies have grinded through almost six months of work and are battling fatigue that threatens to derail their team’s hopes.Andrei Vasilevskiy of Tampa Bay is going through it for the first time while Braden Holtby of the Washington Capitals is used to it by now. Goalies of all ages have no choice but to manage the physical and mental hurdles.”It’s one of those things that you’ve got find ways to make sure you’re prepared and ready to play every game,” Holtby said. ”As a goaltender, there’s not much room to take nights off.”It’s worse for the goalies whose teams can’t afford to start a backup. Boucher started the final 13 games for Philadelphia in 2010 to help them make the playoffs, Jonathan Quick started 20 of the final 21 games for the Los Angeles Kings when they tried to make a furious push to make it in 2015 and Kari Lehtonen could be counted on to play the final nine games of the Dallas Stars‘ season now as they claw for a spot.”You’ll go through the whole night thinking about tomorrow, show up to the rink in the morning thinking about tonight and then you show up to the game thinking about the game,” said Boucher Roman Josi Jersey , now an analyst for NBC Sports. ”Not until that horn goes off at the very end can you finally go, `Whew,’ and take a deep breath and hopefully it’s in a celebration with your teammates. …. You have a shower, you feel good about things, you go home, you kind of decompress and then the next day it starts again: the butterflies, the nerves, the thinking about your opponent. And that’s the mental fatigue that comes into it.”That’s what Vasilevskiy is dealing with at age 23, 58 starts into his first season as the full-time starter and the league leader in victories.”Tiredness is something that I probably never faced before,” he told The Tampa Bay Times. The same goes for Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who is between the pipes for meaningful games and on the cusp of his first playoff appearance. Jets goaltending coach Wade Flaherty talks to Hellebuyck almost daily about what he needs to be successful http://www.officialpredators.com/authentic-adidas-ryan-hartman-jersey , and the staff pays careful attention to making sure the 24-year-old is good to go.Coach Paul Maurice said the Jets are aware of the balance between rhythm and rest but aren’t holding Hellebuyck back.”There’s a fatigue component that a No. 1 goaltender also has to embrace,” Maurice said. ”He has to learn how to play when he doesn’t feel 100 percent right because that’s basically going to be his life.”Winnipeg has been able to give Hellebuyck blocks of two or three days completely off, a rarity for top goalies this time of year. The Nashville Predators have a big enough lead atop the Central Division that they can afford to lighten Pekka Rinne’s workload down the stretch, which could be a huge benefit.”I like thinking outside the box,” former goalie Martin Biron said. ”You may have a Friday-Saturday game, have a Tuesday game, have a Thursday game. You can play your starter on Friday-Saturday and not play him on Tuesday so he gets Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (off) and then he gets ready for the weekend again for the Thursday. There’s a lot more days to be able to decompress and really think about how to reset and re-prepare.”Holtby got a 10-day reset from a month-plus of struggles as Philipp Grubauer started four games in a row. Having a reliable backup is a luxury Washington has – and Holtby doesn’t like taking days off, either. Toronto starter Frederik Andersen recently joked that he’s more tired of being asked if he’s tired than he is from facing the most shots in the league.Practice shots Ryan Johansen Jersey , warmups, travel and mental and physical preparation are also part of the wear and tear. Analyst Justin Goldman of The Goalie Guild said those can be spaced out over weeks and months.”Anything you can do to get a little bit of extra sleep over the course of the season is absolutely monumental when it comes time for the playoff push,” Goldman said.Biron, who started 59 games for Philadelphia in 2007-08 and backed up Henrik Lundqvist when the New York Rangers realized the ”King” needed more time off, figures 60 is the perfect number for a starter. For someone like Vasilevskiy who can’t afford to learn and wait for next year, Boucher said he hopes a more relaxed market like Tampa Bay helps now and the rush of the playoffs gets him through the grind in a few weeks.”I think Vasilevskiy’s going to be fine just because you watch his physical attributes, they’re through the roof,” Boucher said. ”So the physical side doesn’t look like it’s an issue. Now it’s his time to shine.”— MONTREAL (AP) — Calgary goalie David Rittich did everything he could to keep the Flames in contention with Montreal, but the Canadiens were just too much Tuesday night.Jeff Petry and Jonathan Drouin each had a goal and an assist, leading Montreal to a 3-2 win over the Flames, the Canadiens’ fourth win in five games.Brendan Gallagher also scored for the Canadiens Viktor Arvidsson Jersey , who have lost once in eight games this season. Carey Price made 21 saves. After a 44-save performance against the New York Rangers in his last time out, Rittich made 37 saves in the losing effort. The Czech goalie was, by far, Calgary’s best player, keeping the score close while his teammates failed to generate enough offence.“He’s not God out there,” Matthew Tkachuk said of his goalie. “He can’t stop everything. At one point, they’re just going to go in. They keep getting these chances. Eventually it’s going to go in.“It was a bad effort after we got away with one in New York because of our goalie. And maybe tonight we can return him the favor and play well and bail him out, but the opposite again.”Michael Frolik and Elias Lindholm scored for the Flames. The Flames jumped to a 1-0 lead at 16:46 of the first period when Tkachuk’s shot bounced off Frolik’s skate and past Price.Rittich was outstanding at the start and did what he could to preserve Calgary’s lead. At one point, the 26-year-old goaltender made four saves on four Canadiens players in a two-second span in the second period.“Right from the start you could see how sharp he was again,” Flames captain Mark Giordano said. “Tough not to get points tonight when your goalie’s that good and holding you in it for as long as he did.“You can’t keep chasing games. It’s not a good thing to do in this league. Eventually it’s going to come back to bite you. We chased the game all night.”But Montreal was relentless in the second period. Aided by four consecutive Calgary penalties, the Canadiens scored three goals in a 3:21 span. With TJ Brodie in the box for interference Robin Lehner Jersey Womens , Petry fired a one-timer from the faceoff dot that beat Rittich at 15:50. The point was Petry’s 100th in a Canadiens uniform.Again with a man advantage, the Canadiens made it 2-1 when Gallagher redirected Petry’s sharp pass past Rittich at 17:29.With 49 seconds left in the second, Drouin scored with a shot between Rittich’s arm and the post, and extended his points streak to five games.Montreal outshot Calgary 22-8 in the second period.“We were getting chances and it was just about burying them and putting them in the back of the net,” said Drouin. “It’s easier to keep going when you have your chances.”Lindholm got one back for the Flames at 11:10 of the third, finishing off a give-and-go with Mikael Backlund for his team-leading sixth goal of the year.Price tied Patrick Roy for second place in team history for most wins by a goaltender with 289.“Pretty cool experience,” said Price of tying Roy. “It was a great night. Overall everybody played well. Great effort from everybody.”NOTES: Former Toronto Maple Leafs Tie Domi and Mats Sundin were in attendance at Bell Centre. . Jordie Benn played his 400th career game, while Brodie skated in his 500th NHL game. . Johnny Gaudreau saw his four-game point streak snapped. … Canadiens defenseman Victor Mete was back in the lineup, which meant Karl Alzner was a healthy scratch for the sixth time this season.UP NEXTFlames: Home against Pittsburgh on Thursday.Canadiens: At Buffalo on Thursday.

Soccer riots have always been something of a mystery. The violence in hockey is at least compatible. Grown men in heavy costumes skating at high speed with blades on their feet to create enough tension and energy to start a fight in a hurry. In baseball Black Baker Mayfield Jersey , a hard leather ball thrown 100 km h and the head can make understandable that you want to charge the mound. But football? Even the game is going at a slow pace and hardly inspires more focused concentration on the field itself. Commentators American jokingly portray the reason for soccer riots as his low score low key. They often say "after paying nearly $ 100 for seats and the fight against the crowds to see two teams play a match while an end in a tie 0-0, you can riot." However, for the rest of the world, soccer riots are no laughing matter.
