In an otherwise bleak performance, veteran tight end Jared Cook was a bright spot delivering an historic performance for the Silver & Black. Cook set a new franchise record for most receiving yards in a game by a Raiders tight end finishing the night with 180 yards on nine catches. The previous mark was held by Todd Christensen who recorded 173 yards on November 20, 1986 against the Chargers. Wade Phillips and the Rams defense made it a point to key on Amari Cooper throughout the game. And the Rams linebacking corps is one of few weak areas on the Rams defense. As a result, Cook found himself in plenty of favorable matchups of which he and quarterback Derek Carr were able to take advantage.“That’s why Jared [Cook] had a big game Oakland Raiders Hats ,” Carr explained after the game. “We had no problem seeing what they were doing, obviously. It’s not an indication of Amari or anything like that. If the coverage looks a certain way during a certain play, we have other options. It was during an 0-16 season, and Gordon was only available for the final 5 games of the season as he registered 18 catches for 335 yards and 1 touchdown.In 2018, for virtually the first time in his NFL career, he could be on pace to participate in a “full” season with Cleveland — not just in games, but the whole offseason, including OTAs, minicamp, and training camp. Gordon’s talent is still undeniable. He is 27 years old, but has hardly had any wear and tear on his body despite being drafted in 2012. He is in his prime, and with his combination of size, speed, and strength, it is not a reach to say he could be the best receiver in the entire NFL.Maybe some of you have forgotten how insane his 2013 season was, when he played 14 games and caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and 9 touchdowns. Jarvis Landry - Starting / Slot ReceiverHeight: 5-11 | Weight: 196 lbs | Age: 25Experience: 5 years | College: LSUThe Browns’ biggest move of free agency came when they acquired Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins for practically a 4th round draft pick. The contract extension that Cleveland gave him will keep him with the team through 2022 and is worth $75.5 million.Landry can no doubt make some big plays, but the great thing about him is that he is a complement to Gordon. He is going to be the type of receiver who grabs 100 catches per year for 1,000 yards and 5-6 touchdowns. Landry led the NFL in receptions from the slot position last year with 68, per Pro Football Focus (Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals was second with 65 receptions). He is very good at getting yards after the catch and forcing missed tackles.Some may argue that the Browns overpaid a little for Landry. Even if that is true, who cares? Corey Coleman - Third Wide ReceiverHeight: 5-11 | Weight: 185 lbs | Age: 24Experience: 3 years | College: BaylorThere was a point in the offseason where I was almost certain the Browns were going to trade Corey Coleman, but I don’t believe that to be the case now. It’s not that I ever wanted Coleman to be traded. He has had ridiculous misfortune of luck in the NFL, breaking his hand in back-to-back seasons between Weeks 2-3. I mean, how often do you even hear of wide receivers breaking their hand once, let alone twice?Coleman has flashed his first-round talent when he has played, but he also has a lot to work on to be a consistent player. Look at last year’s final play of the season that officially locked in an 0-16 season — a wide open sideline pass that bounced right off his face for an incompletion. He was devastated. But this isn’t a year to feel sorry for Coleman either. He needs to be confident Cleveland Browns Hats , and rise to the occasion. The Browns will utilize Jarvis Landry a lot in the slot, which means Coleman will still get significant work as an outside receiver. He was one of the players the team brought in to meet prior to selecting him in the fourth round, and they were convinced as an organization that they have the right people in place to keep him on the right track.Callaway has exceptional speed with good route running to go along with it. He has impressed people through the offseason programs thus far, and his progress as a receiver will be one of the funner things to watch in training camp this year. As far as the depth chart goes, he won’t leap past either Josh Gordon or Jarvis Landry, but he could find a way to cut into the playing time of Corey Coleman. The more likely scenario is that as a rookie, he will contribute to a big role as a return man, while also seeing some snaps each week to stretch the field as a receiver.Final Roster Odds: 100% Cleveland Browns fans may have missed it amid the news of the Josh Gordon trade, but the team added another wide receiver to the roster on Monday. The club signed Rod Streater, who originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2012 with the Oakland Raiders. The team announced the transaction on its website.Streater had two respectable seasons his first two years with the Raiders, catching a total of99 passes for 1,472 yards and seven touchdowns, while appearing in all 32 games. Things went downhill from there, however, as Streater landed on injured reserve with a broken foot after two games in 2014 Cleveland Browns Womens Hoodie , then missed training camp in 2015 with an undisclosed illness. That limited his production for his final two years in Oakland to just 10 receptions for 94 yards.The Raiders let Streater leave in free agency and he landed with the San Francisco 49ers for the 2016 season. He appeared in 16 games for the 49ers, but only recorded 18 receptions for 191 yards and two touchdowns. It was just a one-year stop in San Francisco for Streater as he then moved onto the Buffalo Bills as a free agent. It appeared that Streater had a roster spot locked up for 2017, but a toe injury suffered in the preseason wiped out the campaign for Streater. The Bills brought him back this summer, but Streater was unable to win a roster spot among one of the league’s worst wider receiver groups, as Streater could not beat out the likes of Ray-Ray McCloud III, Robert Foster, Andre Holmes, Zay Jones and the since-released Jeremy Kerley. When we last saw Streater, he was catching a touchdown pass from Josh Allen against the Cleveland Browns in the preseason.Streater’s role with the Browns is unclear at this point as Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway and Rashard Higgins are the top three wide receivers. Add in tight end David Njoku and running back Duke Johnson, once he gets on track, and there may not be enough passes left for Streater. If he wants playing time, Streater may have to focus on special teams, an area he is more than willing to do, as he told billswire.com over the summer:Streater may not have much to give on the field, but showing a team-first attitude will at least help set him apart from the player whose roster spot he is replacing.

It will be just like it was when he missed the playoffs after his NFL MVP candidate 2016 season and tried to play with fractured vertebrae in 2017.Part of the problem is what the Raiders have been trying to do with Connor Cook isn’t working. This is two seasons in a row that the Raiders gave Cook the No. 2 QB job before he gave it back. Like my daddy used to say, “You can’t get whiskey out of a bottle of wine.”Gruden’s energy would be better spent trying to develop EJ Manuel than it is Cook. Friday night, Manuel was 8-12 for 87 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions and a fumble with a QB rating of 87.8. Cook was 6-15 for 72 yards, an INT and a paltry QB rating of 27.6. The lone TD scored in the Raiders’ 13-6 win over the Green Bay Packers was led by Manuel too. Not that he’s a Nick Foles in waiting but he’s a better option than Cook and would figure to be even better with more reps. So, what is it about Cook? Let’s not place all the blame head coach Jon Gruden. Former head coach Jack Del Rio tried the same thing. Though it doesn’t bode well for Gruden’s judgment that he called Cook a 1st-round pick when the Raiders took him in the fourth round in 2016. Either way, he needs to tumble down the Raiders’ depth chart. Gruden tried hard to get Cook going but last night showed this is a bad plan.“I wanted to get Connor [Cook] first team all offensive line for a couple series http://www.oaklandraidersteamonline.com/gareon-conley-jersey ,” Gruden said after the game. The Raiders need to take a good look at Manuel in the preseason finale. And if they don’t feel comfortable with him, they could look outside the roster, as Gruden suggested after the game that the team could do. “We are going to continue to work and see who is available,” Gruden said when asked about his backup QB situation. “There were some good moments tonight and there were some moments tonight that were not good. It has been too inconsistent, but I am not going to say much more tonight until I see the tape. But we are going to continue to evaluate.”As crazy as this sounds, kicking tires on Colin Kaepernick suddenly sounds good. Cook certainly isn’t the guy you want out there leading the offense if Carr gets hurt. Safe to say the tape Gruden is seeing looks horrible for Cook so it will be interesting to see what Gruden does now.

The Buccaneers set sail to Carolina and forgot to pack the defense on the ship yet again. The final score was 42-28 but it really never felt like the game was truly within reach. An ugly start on offense coupled with another team setting an offensive record, this time Carolina and their 35 first half points on offense, against the Buccaneers defense and before you know it, the game was over. Don’t be fooled by end of game stats, the offense struggled when it mattered yet again.The Buccaneers began the game about as bad as it gets on offense. A quick 3 and out to start the football game was followed by the teams defense actually picking up the slack and getting Carolina to punt. The problem? Ryan Fitzpatrick apparently wasn’t ready to go out that quick and subsequently sailed a pass over Mike Evans head, a reoccurring theme of missing Evans was all over this ball game, goes right into the hands of Eric Reid for an interception. The next offensive possession was nearly ended early yet again by a turnover on an errant pass to Mike Evans, who was covered by James Bradberry all game long, fell to the ground. The drive did show a slight bit of life as Jacquizz Rodgers scampered on a 3rd and 10 for a first down. This drive capped with the prior two ended what was an awful start for Ryan Fitzpatrick who soon began to find a bit of rhythm, albeit to late. The fourth drive had a bit of that early season Fitzmagic to it as the Buccaneers started with three straight first downs where Adam Humphries came up with a key third down grab to set up the teams first touchdown. On 2nd and 3 from 4 yards out Ryan Fitzpatrick found O.J. Howard in the flat for a touchdown. The tight end would be the teams brightest player on the afternoon by far. The worst moment on offense in this game was soon to come, Following another touchdown given up by the defense, the Tampa Bay offense went 3 and out again. Desperation was about to hit the ceiling finally and sure enough, it was time. From their own 25 yard line after going 3 and out, Dirk Koetter called in the secret weapon. Bryan Anger lined up for the punt White Demar Dotson Jersey , received the snap and there it was, fake punt time. Anger lofted an ugly pass that was deflected and in turn, failed to find it’s target. Here comes Carolina on their own 25 yard line. I think most of us can guess what happened next. The defense did put up a fight and thanks to some penalties on Carolina moved them from the 1 yard line back to about the 20, the defense remembered who they were and gave up a touchdown on a nice catch by tight end and Buccaneer killer Greg Olsen. The final drive before the half for Tampa did go well as they drove down the field 75 yards and capped it with another O.J. Howard receiving touchdown. The damage had already been done though, as Tampa trailed 35-14 at the half. The second half showed a bit of smoke and mirrors statistically for the Buccaneers offense as they put up two more touchdowns and got within 7 points of the Panthers at 35-28 but it just never felt close. It’s as if the Panthers went into auto pilot for an extra 15 minutes after the half knowing they could score at will on offense and create a turnover on defense, both of which happened when it mattered most. The Buccaneers offense, within 7 points of tying it up, had to rely on the defense to keep it that way and that’s when Carolina flexed their muscle and put away the Buccaneers for good. The Buccaneers would get the ball back down 14 and it was simply too much for Fitzpatrick and the offense to come back from at that point. The defense got a stop to give the offense the ball back, and Fitztragic made his second appearance in the game. On the first play of the last offensive drive for the Buccaneers, Fitzpatrick sailed a pass to DeSean Jackson down the sideline and it ended up with Panthers defensive back Donte Jackson instead. The Defense was obliterated, non-existent at times and mocked by the Carolina offense.Following an Eric Reid interception on the second Buccaneer offensive possession of the game, the defense destroyed a Cam Newton run-option and in typical Buccaneer fashion, a unnecessary roughness penalty via Bond set Carolina up inside the 5 yard line. A couple plays later and the fullback takes it in for the score.No worries though, this was far from as bad as it got. The next Panther possession began with back to back 30+ yard plays to offset their poor field position to start the drive. Carlton Davis was taken advantage on by McCaffrey who went full airborne to avoid a Davis tackle and then by D.J. Moore on an end around. This wouldn’t be the last time you hear Davis’ name attached to something negative in this ball game.McCaffrey finished the drive off with a touchdown run of his own this time. Howard, the defense should have felt some form of momentum in their favor right? Wrong. What may be this defenses signature moment (in an incredibly awful way) was about to happen. Curtis Samuel takes a double reverse, where he is basically 15 yards behind the LOS at the time he gets the ball, to the house on an embarrassing display of how to play defense by the Tampa Bay Buccaneer football team. The instant reaction nearly every game is how can this team possibly make the playoffs giving up 30+ points a game. After that play there, how can this team even win another game with such poor defense? I think Winston is the future of this team, but seven turnovers in ten quarters is inexcusable. The only turnover you can point to that really wasn’t his fault was the fumble where Donovan Smith was flat out beat. Cincinnati and Carolina are next up on the schedule and if Winston doesn’t take care of the ball, it’ll be a couple of long afternoons.2.) Time To Catanzar-GO - Yeah, I get it. He hit a 59-yard field goal to win the game. That doesn’t take away the fact that he missed an extra point and a 40-yard attempt in regulation, either of which would’ve won the game without the stress of overtime. There’s no excuse anymore. Two weeks in a row an early missed extra point had a dire effect on the game later on. Catanzaro has missed three extra points and two field goals on the season, yet is making $3.75-million guaranteed in the first year of his three year deal and the Bucs need to eat the dead money and get him out of the building. Yes, the kicking woes won’t end any time soon - Catanzaro or not - but just like Mike Smith, if you know it’s not working there’s no need to stick with it.3.) Tough Day For Kwon Alexander - Kwon was playing his best game of the season by far, but when he blitzed and had a shot at Mayfield on 4th-and-2, Kwon planted his leg and crumbled. He didn’t return to the game and the fear is a torn ACL. He’ll undergo an MRI on Monday, but it doesn’t look good. Carlton Davis looked good coming back off the injury, Vita Vea was getting into the backfield, JPP and Carl Nassib were consistently getting pressure. If they can continue to play this way - and trend up - then they might just have something with Mark Duffner calling the shots.5.) DeSean Disconnect - It’s mind-boggling, really. DeSean Jackson continues to be a non-factor with Winston at quarterback. The deep ball just isn’t there and Adam Humphries seems to be the guy Winston looks to in the “under six foot tall” category. Winston completed passes to ten different receivers and DJax didn’t see a catch until the fourth quarter. It’s frustrating to see a weapon like DeSean go under utilized and I’m sure it’s even more frustrating for Winston and DJax that they just can’t seem to click. We have no idea how the rest of the season will play out at the college or NFL level, where the Giants will be drafting, who will be available, how the pre-draft process will play out. Still, get used to hearing names like Herbert, Lock, Ryan Finley and whoever else gets added to the conversation.Free agencyTeddy Bridgewater is expected to hit the market, and he has ties to Shurmur from the Minnesota Vikings. Other than that, it’s names like Tyrod Taylor, Brock Osweiler, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Trevor Siemian.Of course, there could be someone out there languishing on a team’s bench that Shurmur or Gettleman really like who could emerge as a mystery candidate. Giants co-owner John Mara has been saying for a couple of years now that he wanted Beckham to be a Giant, if not for his entire career, for a long time.So, both sides get something they wanted.Ian Rapoport is reporting that Beckham will get $41 million fully guaranteed and a total of $65 million guaranteed over the life of his five-year extension. He won’t quite average $20 million annually over the life of the deal, which no player other than a quarterback ever has. The way the deal is apparently structured, though, Rapoport said that Beckham will average $20 million annually over its last three seasons.Beckham’s teammates were happy enough to throw a locker room party for him when the news broke.It’s a historic deal that puts Beckham in the league’s top five in guaranteed money. He becomes the highest-paid receiver in terms of annual value, topping Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers ($17 million), and in guaranteed money, topping Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($55 million).So, an expensive but very good day for the Giants. One that guarantees that, if healthy, the Giants will be able to pair Beckham and Saquon Barkley for several years to come.
