James Reimer keeps flinching and he doesn’t like it.Several times in practice already this season Ryan Miller Jersey , the Florida Panthers goaltender has braced for a shot up high because he is wearing smaller, more formfitting chest and arm protectors required by the NHL.“I’ve never flinched in my life,” Reimer said. “I consider myself a tough guy. I’m from the country. I can take a few bruises here and there. But at what point? At what point is one guy going to let one loose and a guy’s going to break his arm?”Those are some of the questions goalies around the league are asking, and some of them have the bruises to show for it after equipment changes agreed to by the NHL and the NHL Players’ Association. Goalie pads and pants have already been tweaked with the overall aim of boosting scoring while rewarding athletic ability in the crease. The league is trying to address concerns. The hope is to make goalies feel safe in chest protectors that are roughly an inch smaller and tighter to the body than past models.“I think the guys that have tried multiple units, they’ve found something that has pleased them and they go out there and do their job,” said NHL vice president of hockey operations Kay Whitmore, the former goalie who’s in charge of this department at the league office. “I deal with each one of those guys on a daily basis and trying to make them understand what they need and what we can get them, and get them out there and feeling comfortable. It’s been working.”Whitmore fielded complaints through training camp, but last week said the number has dwindled. Some goalies eased their concerns by adding some more padding or switching to another chest protector, while others are still dealing with the change.Philadelphia’s Brian Elliott complained of bruises early in the season in an interview with the Courier-Post, and two-time Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky of the Blue Jackets last week told the Columbus Dispatch he fears getting hit by pucks and called the equipment change “terrible.” Coming off winning the Stanley Cup with Washington, Braden Holtby is less concerned about bruising and more worried about a significant injury.“Sooner or later someone’s going to get hurt pretty bad,” Holtby said after feeling the sting of a few shots at a morning skate. “You can deal with bumps and bruises and stuff. It’s when you hope someone doesn’t get a broken bone or some sort out of it. If they keep making things like that, they’re going to have to start monitoring the stick technology because guys shoot so hard right now we’ll have no choice but to be bigger.”Whitmore is the man in the middle of it all trying to satisfy the 31 general managers who recommended the change while also working with the Players’ Association, goaltenders and manufacturers to make things right. That’s a continuing process, though the NHL is confident goalies are not in danger because of the rule change.“I’m not throwing these guys out there in harm’s way where they can’t even play,” said Whitmore, who played 155 games over 15 years during his professional career. “It’s going to continue to evolve as we go, but not from the standpoint where we’re worried on a nightly basis about what’s going to happen to a guy.”Remembering previous changes to smaller pads and pants, New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist noticed the difference right away with his new chest protector. When it didn’t feel right, he talked to Whitmore and made the necessary adjustments to be compliant and comfortable.“It was tight and hard to move and you got exposed in a couple areas where you had to talk to Kay and make sure it was OK to cover your shoulders,” Lundqvist said. “I just made some adjustments just make sure it was exactly the way I wanted and the league wanted it, so it’s all good now.”Vegas goalie Marc-Andre Fleury added an extra undershirt to provide some more padding, and Holtby is working in a new chest protector after wearing a CCM model since junior hockey. Reimer, who got his new chest protector mid-summer and wanted to make changes, said he ordered a new one weeks ago but won’t be able to receive it until the end of the month because companies are backed up with orders.“What am I supposed to do Womens Alex Goligoski Jersey , play the first month with a chest protector that’s not as protective?” Reimer said. “It’s unfortunate that the whole situation is like this.”The goal was to level the playing field where goalies weren’t wearing oversized chest protectors just to get a competitive advantage. Reimer wants the NHL to allow goalies to go back to last year when he felt they were protected, but Whitmore is putting the onus on companies to adapt and make better products.“We’re not changing it now,” Whitmore said. “We’ve thought long and hard about the shape we wanted guys to look like.”MIGHTY QUINNIn his first season as Rangers coach, David Quinn hasn’t been afraid to send a message to underperforming players of all ages by scratching them. Defensemen Kevin Shattenkirk, Neal Pionk and Adam McQuaid and forwards Vladislav Namestnikov and Pavel Buchnevich have already gotten the healthy-scratch treatment. Shattenkirk had two assists and a shootout goal in his second game back, Pionk responded to his benching with a three-point night and the message seems to be getting through to a young, rebuilding bunch.“Guys have done a good job coming back from it,” Quinn said. “This is all about making them the best player they can possibly be. We all need to be held accountable, and sometimes you need a little bit of a wakeup call. These guys have handled it well.”NO BULLNashville coach Peter Laviolette bet his players that if the Predators swept the Flames and Oilers on their swing through Alberta, he’d wear a full bull mask for his postgame interview. Laviolette made good on that promise Saturday night after backup Juuse Saros shut out Edmonton 3-0 to help Nashville improve to 7-1-0.GAME OF THE WEEKPatrik Laine and the Winnipeg Jets visit Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night in a matchup of Canada’s best bets to win the Stanley Cup. When some players return to a former home Isaac Nauta Jersey 2019 , the reception is warm. That probably won’t be the case Sunday when Ndamukong Suh goes back to Detroit. The Rams defensive tackle had little to say about his years with the Lions, though what he said made his feelings pretty clear.鈥淚鈥檒l refrain from my comments about the organization,鈥?Suh said, via Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register. 鈥淭he city is an amazing city. Great people there. I鈥檓 looking forward to seeing a bunch of people. . . . But I鈥檒l refrain from [comments about] the organization.鈥漁f course, simple finances might simply explain Suh’s decision to leave Detroit after his first five seasons, since the Dolphins waved a $114 million contract in front of him. The Rams were quick to swoop in when the Dolphins grew tired of him, happy to add him to an all-star defense that also included offseason trades for cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.鈥淚 think he鈥檚 done a really nice job,鈥?Rams coach Sean McVay said. 鈥淚 think the thing that has been impressive is the versatility that he displays. You don鈥檛 often see guys that have been dominant interior rushers and dominant interior players have the ability to seamlessly transition to do a variety of different things.鈥漈he Rams have also given Suh the chance he’s never had before 鈥?the hope for postseason success. He’s never won a playoff game, and he’s never been a part of a division winner, though that’s inevitable with the Rams. Just like the chilly reception when he rolls back into Detroit. GLENDALE Isaac Nauta Jersey Mens , Ariz. (AP) — It’s an NFL cliche, the crafty cornerback fooling the rookie quarterback. That’s exactly what happened in the biggest play of Detroit’s 17-3 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.Darius Slay, who tied for the lead in the NFL with eight interceptions last season, stepped in front of intended receiver Trent Sherfield, picked off Rosen’s pass and returned it 67 yards for the game’s first touchdown, putting his team up 10-0 in the third quarter.“I kind of baited him,” Slay said. “I knew it was coming. I knew it before the play even happened. The only thing I was concerned about was if I was going to score with it. I knew it was coming and I made a play on it.”Rosen said Slay “made it seem like he was giving him (Sherfield) space. It made it seem like he was playing really soft because it was third-and-long. But right when our receiver broke at the sticks, he just made a really good play.“He’s a veteran. That’s why maybe go away from him next time.”The Lions (5-8), losers of five of their previous six overall, ended an eight-game losing streak in Arizona that dated to 1993. It was a matchup of two first-year coaches who are having their struggles and this one clearly went to Detroit’s Matt Patricia over the Cardinals’ Steve Wilks.“It is great to get the win Youth Isaac Nauta Jersey ,” Patricia said. “It is great to see some of the improvement in some of the things we have been doing in the last month or last three weeks or so.”Arizona (3-10), which fell flat coming off its biggest win of the season a week earlier at Green Bay, avoided being shut out with Zane Gonzalez’s 22-yard field goal that cut the lead to 10-3 with 8:14 to play.Rosen completed four of six passes as Arizona drove to the 5-yard line, but a fade pass to Larry Fitzgerald was incomplete and the Cardinals, who fell to 1-6 at home, settled for the field goal.Detroit took the subsequent kickoff and went 75 yards in seven plays, with the help of a pass interference penalty against Budda Baker, and Zach Zenner’s 1-yard touchdown run with 4:05 to play put the game safely in the Lions’ control.“It was missed tackles and penalties that got them down there,” Wilks said. “I thought the defense kept us in the game pretty much to that point.”Matt Prater’s 47-yard field goal in the first half accounted for the other Detroit points on a day neither offense could do much.“It was one of the games you had to kind of wear them out,” Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford said. “They got some good players up there. That fourth quarter our guys really started leaning on them Austin Bryant Detroit Lions Jersey , dominating.”Fitzgerald caught five passes, all in the second half and most when the game had been all but decided, to move ahead of Jerry Rice for most receptions by a player for one team at 1,286.Detroit took the opening kickoff and moved downfield with a strong running game. But after a short pass from Stafford, LeGarrette Blount had the ball knocked loose by Baker, who recovered at the Cardinals 30.Neither team threatened again until the Lions used up 7 minutes, 55 seconds to drive 65 yards and set up Prater’s field goal with 9:35 left in the first half.Arizona took the kickoff and got a 19-yard pass from Rosen to Sherfield, combined with a facemask penalty against Detroit, moved the ball to the Lions 30. But a pass to David Johnson lost 6 yards and Gonzalez’s 54-yard field goal try had plenty of distance but bounced off the left upright.FINALLY FITZGERALDFitzgerald, who entered the game with at least one catch in 223 consecutive games White Isaac Nauta Jersey , was targeted once and didn’t have a catch in the first half. Finally, with 5:48 left in the third quarter, Fitzgerald’s 14-yard reception kept the streak alive and moved him ahead of Rice. Three of his catches came the last time Arizona had the ball.INJURIESDetroit was hit hard by injuries. In the span of three plays, the Lions lost defensive ends Ezekiel Ansah (knee) and Da’Shawn Hand (shoulder). Later in the half, right tackle Rick Wagner left with a concussion. The team also lost fullback Nick Bellore (ankle), wide receiver Bruce Ellington (hamstring), cornerback Marcus Cooper (back) and safety Charles Washington (hamstring).“Injuries happen,” Patricia said. “Certainly we had a couple of them today. It is just important for us to always maintain our philosophy of everybody has to be ready to go.”Arizona wide receiver Chad Williams was inactive after aggravating a hamstring injury late last week.UP NEXTLions: at Buffalo next Sunday.Cardinals: at Atlanta next Sunday.

WINNIPEG Anaheim Ducks T-Shirts Authentic , Manitoba — It’s only December, but Sunday’s game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Winnipeg Jets at Bell MTS Place could be a preview of next spring’s Stanley Cup final. Both teams have been making a good case. The Jets have won eight of nine games to push their record to 21-9-2 for 44 points, good for first place in the Central Division going into Saturday night’s action. Article continues below ...The Lightning, meanwhile, have the best record in the NHL at 25-7-1 for 51 points and have won eight consecutive games, the second-longest winning streak in the league this season, trailing only the Buffalo Sabres’ 10.The Jets will be playing their third game in four nights on Sunday and are coming off overtime wins over the Edmonton Oilers (5-4) and Chicago Blackhawks (4-3) on Thursday and Friday, respectively. The Lightning, meanwhile, dismissed the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 on Thursday, their nearest rival in the Atlantic Division, and now embark on a four-game road trip.Lightning coach Jon Cooper thought his team controlled one minute of that game and the Leafs controlled the other 59. But the Lightning scored two goals in the last minute of the second period.“That was the game,” Cooper told the Tampa Bay Times. The Jets and Lightning split two games last season, with each team winning on home ice.All eyes will be the Jets’ Mark Scheifele Anaheim Ducks Hoodies Authentic , who scored the winner on Friday and has rocketed into the league’s top five scorers in the last six weeks with 43 points, and Lightning captain Steven Stamkos, who has 15 goals and 33 points in 33 games. In addition to having 20 goals, sitting just three behind right winger Patrik Laine for the team lead, Scheifele also centers the No. 1 power play unit. The Jets have scored eight times with the man-advantage in the past four games to move back into top spot in the league with a 30.2 percent efficiency. The Lightning are second at 29.3 percent.Tampa Bay is the most prolific scoring team in the league with 134 goals and the Jets are third with 116.Jets coach Paul Maurice has the utmost confidence in his assistant captain and believes Scheifele is playing the same type of hockey he was late last year when the Jets made it to the Western Conference finals.“He’s almost at that playoff level where he was last year,” he told The Winnipeg Sun after Friday’s game. “And (he’s scoring) big goals for us, game-winners and from different places. He’s just been great.”The battle of goaltenders will also be front and center. The Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck has won five of his last six starts and Lightning netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy returned from an injury on Thursday to make 48 saves in his first action in more than a month.Hellebuyck was second in voting for the Vezina Trophy last season for the NHL’s top goaltender and Vasilevskiy was third. LAS VEGAS (AP) — Marc-Andre who?No, the Vegas Golden Knights won’t have a goaltending controversy on their hands when Marc-Andre Fleury returns from a lower-body injury. But Malcolm Subban is certainly making the case he’s more than capable of starting against any team, and in any arena.Subban stopped 20 shots for his first NHL shutout, William Karlsson and Reilly Smith each scored twice, and the Golden Knights beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-0 on Thursday night.“It’s been definitely fun, obviously,” said Subban, whose shutout came in his 35th career start. “They’re a great team Anaheim Ducks Hats Authentic , so just came in here trying to get the win. The boys played a great game in front of me. … Obviously, they got a few chances, they’re a good team, couple on the power play, but other than that, not too much. Definitely a great all-around win for sure.”Subban, who won at San Jose on Monday, is nearly unbeatable at T-Mobile Arena with a 13-1-0 record in two seasons.“We like to defend our home and defend the fortress, as we say,” Subban said. “The boys always play great here. The fans give us so much momentum here. Can’t thank them enough. They’ve been the best fans since the first exhibition game last year.”Tomas Nosek also scored for Vegas, which is 10-1 since losing to Winnipeg 6-3 in its final game before acquiring Mark Stone at the trade deadline.Since the trade deadline, Vegas’ top line of Karlsson (four goals, eight assists), Smith (seven goals Custom Anaheim Ducks Jerseys , eight assists) and Jonathan Marchessault (four goals, eight assists) has accounted for 39 points.“There’s a lot of positivity right now,” said Smith, who has at least one point in 15 of his last 19 games, having scored eight goals and dishing out 15 assists. “Obviously the goal is to be peaking when playoffs come around. We’re definitely turning it in the right direction right now. The main goal for us is to keep our foot on the gas and make sure we’re trying to get better every day.”It marked the first time in franchise history the Golden Knights scored five or more goals in three straight games. During their 11-game run, they’ve outscored opponents 47-22, and are 5-1 against teams currently in Western Conference playoff position.“I thought we played a complete game tonight, it was excellent,” Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said. “I like the way our team’s played the last 10, 11 games. We continue to keep it going. We play a simple game. … We’re a better hockey team now, but I knew we had a good hockey team. We got a lot of confidence last year, we feel good about our team. We had some ups and downs like most teams go through the season – except for Tampa Bay, so far. I like our team and I’ve always liked our team.”Winnipeg, meanwhile www.officialcoyotes.com , dropped to 5-3-0 in the second game of back-to-backs this season after defeating the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 on Wednesday. The Jets missed a chance to clinch a playoff berth while having their four-game win streak snapped.Laurent Brossoit started in net for the Jets, but was pulled after allowing three goals. Connor Hellebuyck, who entered with 14 minutes left in the second period, allowed two goals and made 18 saves.Vegas, which has the seventh-best penalty kill, stopped Winnipeg twice on the power play. The Jets, who had scored a power-play goal in five consecutive games, came into the game with the league’s fourth-best unit.“We had a tough night, got ourselves in a hole early,” said Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice, who remains one win shy of passing Dick Irvin (692) for the seventh-most wins in NHL history. “I think if we’d been able to score at the 2-0 mark, on the power play, might have been able to capture some energy, but we weren’t able to do that. And then it was over pretty quick by the end of the second.”After Karlsson and Smith gave the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead after one period Arizona Coyotes T-Shirts Authentic , Nosek picked up his eighth goal of the season when he broke free alone for a short-handed snipe that chased Brossoit in favor of Hellebuyck.Smith scored his second of the game and 17th of the season when he took a pass from Karlsson and lasered a wrist shot past Hellebuyck to make it 4-0. Kevin Anderson upset Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-1, and sixth-ranked Andy Murray joined Wawrinka on the sidelines, losing to big-serving Milos Raonic, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Anderson ended Wawrinkas 13-match winning streak that included his first Grand Slam title in January. Wawrinka didnt face a break point in his first two matches, but he got broken in his first service game against the 6-foot-8 Anderson, who had 11 aces and connected on 64 per cent of his first serves. "I was complaining a lot about my serve, about the way I was playing, and with that, I dont deserve to win matches," Wawrinka said. "I should have been more positive with myself, just trying to find solution because it was still a close match." After losing the first set tiebreaker, Wawrinka left the court for nearly eight minutes to have his back worked on. He returned and broke Anderson twice in taking the second set to even the match. "Its just tightness," he said, insisting he wasnt injured. "I was a little bit nervous and tight and tired." Anderson earned all four breaks in the third in completing his 150th career match win on the ATP Tour. "Game plan is just to get as many first serves back as possible just to give myself the best look in his serve games throughout the match," he said. Anderson advanced to the quarter-finals against four-time tournament champion Roger FFederer, who beat 11th-seeded Tommy Haas 6-4, 6-4.dddddddddddd Against Murray, Raonic earned his first win over a top-10 player since September. He fired 15 aces and held triple match point when he ripped a crosscourt forehand to close out the win after breaking Murray three times in the final set. "The third set was just a bad, bad set of tennis," said Murray, who broke Raonic to lead 2-1 before losing five of the final six games. Murray, ranked sixth in the world, struggled in all three of his matches at Indian Wells. He rallied from a set down to beat Lukas Rosol and Jiri Vesely, but couldnt overcome Raonics power. "He obviously wins a lot of free points with his serve," Murray said. "So over the course of the set, if you give up enough unforced errors on basic shots, then with the amount of free points he gets on his serve, thats going to add up to a negative result." Raonic blew his first match point when he returned Murrays serve long. Murray held to trail 5-3, but Raonic held at love to close out the match. He hit 42 winners to 22 for Murray. Playing his first tournament since injuring his left ankle at the Australian Open in January, Raonic hadnt beaten someone in the top 10 since defeating then-No. 6 Tomas Berdych in the Bangkok final last fall. "I focused a lot more this event on my attitude and approach during the matches rather than what Im necessarily playing and just sort of being very hard on myself on that aspect," Raonic said. Raonic, a 23-year-old Canadian ranked 11th in the world, advanced to the quarter-finals against Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine, who beat Fabio Fognini of Italy, 6-2, 6-4. Ernests Gulbis beat Roberto Bautista Agut 7-6 (7), 4-6, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals. Hell play John Isner, the lone remaining American man who beat Fernando Verdasco, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-3. On the womens side, sixth-seeded Simona Halep defeated Australian qualifier Casey Dellacqua 6-2, 6-2 to earn a berth in the semifinals. Halep will play second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska, who beat No. 7 seed Jelena Jankovic, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. PLYMOUTH Authentic Alexander Wennberg Jersey , Mich. (AP) — Jack Hughes draws a crowd.Detroit general manager Ken Holland and former Red Wing star Steve Yzerman chatted during the first intermission of one of Hughes’ recent games. Scouts from the NHL were scattered throughout USA Hockey Arena that night, taking notes for teams paying them to evaluate the world’s best hockey players.Hughes, a 17-year-old center , will likely be the top pick in the NHL draft in June.USA Hockey has developed the nation’s top players for more than two-plus decades and four of them have been selected No. 1 overall — including Auston Matthews and Patrick Kane — from its National Team Development Program. Hughes is expected to be next.“He’s as good as I’ve seen come through here in terms of talent, work ethic and being the complete package on and off the ice,” said senior director of operations Scott Monaghan, who has been with the program since its inception in 1996. “He’s more like Patrick because of his skating and shiftiness than Auston, who was really big and strong.“We have 30 to 40 scouts at most of our home games and as many as 60 because Jack is on a team with as many as six, seven or eight first-round picks.”Hughes chose to surround himself with the best American hockey players his age as an amateur instead of getting paid as the No. 1 pick in the Ontario Hockey League. He also could have graduated high school a year early to play with his brother, Quinn, a freshman at Michigan and a defenseman drafted No. 7 overall last summer by the Vancouver Canucks.“I feel like it’s the best place to be for a 16-year, 17-year-old,” Hughes told The Associated Press. “No one trains as hard as us. We skate every day. We lift three days a week. We play a great schedule. I think it’s the best place to be to groom yourself to be an NHL player someday.”Hughes was born in Orlando, Florida, where his father, Jim, was assistant coach for the Solar Bears in the International Hockey League. He wasn’t there long. Jim Hughes moved his family a few months later to Boston because he got a job as an assistant with the Bruins. Two years later, the former Providence defenseman went to New Hampshire — where he Chris Terry Jersey Womens , his wife and three boys vacation each summer — to be an assistant and later head coach with the Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League.Jim Hughes’ next job appears to have been pivotal in the development of his sons’ hockey careers because it landed him in Toronto as an assistant with the AHL’s Marlies. He later became director of player development for the Maple Leafs.“I always played him a year up and that’s not easy to do in the hockey mecca of the world,” Jim Hughes said. “Even when he was 5, you could see he had a special skill set. As he got older, coaches were yelling at their players to hit him and teams were trying to attack him. And quite frankly, he was still dominant.”While Jim Hughes was often busy with his job when the boys were growing up, Ellen Hughes taught her sons how to skate. She drew on her experience from playing for the U.S. women’s national hockey team and at New Hampshire, where she was also on the soccer team.“When Jack would go outside to play, older boys would always pick him even though he was at least two years younger than the rest of them and he always wanted the puck,” Ellen Hughes recalled. “We never had to push him. It was always organic and Toronto was just the best place for him to prepare him for what he’s doing now.”Jack Hughes starts his day at 6:15 a.m. with two eggs on a bagel with cream cheese and salami along with some fresh fruit, orange juice and a vitamin. He has to arrive at school shortly after 7 a.m. and if he’s tardy or misses a class, USA Hockey has a staff member who knows it and there are consequences.“There’s no sleeping in,” Jack Hughes said. “They’ll sit you for a period if you’re late or skip a class, or if you’re late for the bus.”Hughes, who plans to graduate this month, takes four classes before heading to USA Hockey Arena in suburban Detroit to drill on a shooting pad, lift weights and go through an intense, two-hour practice before going to study table. His favorite meal is his father’s grilled steak. Shortly after dinner, his parents don’t have a hard time getting him to go sleep.“If you don’t go to bed early Dennis Cholowski Jersey Womens , this place will eat you alive,” Jim Hughes said. The 5-foot-10, 168-pound Hughes feasts on the competition wherever he goes, playing U.S.-based colleges against players much older and bigger than him, as well as in the United States Hockey League and international competition. With 16 points in just four games, he was tournament MVP at the under-18 Five Nations tournament in the Czech Republic last month. He had 116 points in 60 games last year and he is averaging about two points a game this season, putting him on pace to set the NTDP career record for points. Hughes skates effortlessly in any direction and has soft hands, allowing him to dangle to puck to set up a shot for a teammate or himself.“Jack Hughes is the leading candidate to be the No. 1 pick at this point and scouts are out evaluating him as often as possible,” Holland said. “He’s an incredibly talented player, who is destined to have a fabulous NHL career.” UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Devon Toews scored his first NHL goal at 1:48 of overtime to lift the New York Islanders past the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 Thursday night for their fifth straight win.Mathew Barzal scored twice to keep up his scoring binge and help the Islanders win for the eighth time in nine games. Robin Lehner, making his third straight start, stopped 19 shots as New York moved to 3-0-1 in four games at the Nassau Coliseum this season.Toews, playing in the fifth game of his career, got the winner when he knocked in the rebound of his own shot that Collin Delia stopped, with the puck coming to him at the right side.Patrick Kane and Dominik Kahun and scored for Chicago, which lost for the third time in their last five. After extending his point streak to six games with his first goal, Barzal — selected for his first All-Star appearance a day earlier — now has eight goals and 11 points in that stretch.Cal Clutterbuck nearly gave the Islanders the lead earlier with about 6:20 left in the period as he batted the puck out of the air from the right side. The officials conferred on the ice and initially ruled it a good goal. However, it was overturned after a video review because Clutterbuck’s stick was above the height of the crossbar when it hit the puck. The teams were tied 1-1 after one period, though the Islanders controlled play for most of the first 20 minutes, outshooting the Blackhawks 14-3.Kahun got Chicago on the scoreboard first. Duncan Keith fired a long shot from the left point and Brandon Saad’s deflection in front was stopped by Leher, However, Kahun backhanded the rebound from the right side for his sixth at 3:05.Barzal tied the score at 6:47 with his 11th. Johnny Boychuk’s shot from the right point deflected up off Anthony Beauvillier in front, and Barzal batted it out of the air from the left side into the top left corner. It extended his point streak to six games.NOTES: The attendance was announced as 13,454, marking the first time it wasn’t a sellout in the four games the Islanders have played at the Nassau Coliseum this season. … Barzal has nine goals and 17 points in his last 12 games. … Lehner has given up just three goals on 107 shots over his last four games since replacing Thomas Greiss in the second period of the Islanders’ 6-3 comeback win against Ottawa last Friday night. … The Islanders went 1 for 2 on the power play after coming in 2 for 13 with the man advantage their previous six games. … The teams conclude their season series Jan. 22 at Chicago. … Kahun scored for the second straight game and has four points (two goals, two assists) in his last six games. … Chicago, last in the NHL on the penalty-kill at 73.6 percent coming in, has allowed five power-play goals on 16 chances the last five games.UP NEXTBlackhawks: At Pittsburgh on Sunday to complete a two-game trip.Islanders: At St. Louis on Saturday night.

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay -- Uruguay striker Luis Suarez had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Thursday but was expected to recover in time for the World Cup. The mother of the 27-year-old Liverpool striker told The Associated Press that Suarez had successful surgery to repair cartilage damage. "The surgery is over and thank God everything went well. What Luis had wasnt as serious as we thought," Suarezs mother, Sandra Diaz, told the AP shortly after speaking to him on the phone. "Hes very well. Hes going to play the World Cup," said Diaz, who was taking care of the strikers children while he was in hospital. The Uruguayan Football Association released a statement later saying Suarez began feeling an uncomfortable pain in his left knee during his last English Premier League game and he felt sharp pain again when he was training with the national team on Wednesday. An exam confirmed the cartilage injury. "This morning he underwent an arthroscopy to repair his meniscus. ... No other injuries were found in his knee," the association said. "His participation in the World Cup in Brazil is not ruled out." Suarez was released from the Medica Uruguaya hospital in the afternoon, and was taken in an ambulance to his home on the outskirts of Montevideo. He was in a wheelchair, but he walked the last few steps to his house leaning on the shoulders of two people, without putting pressure on his injured leg. His wife, Sofia, asked a small group of reporters to stop taking photos inside their home. When they continued to snap shots, Suarez, who was known for his short temper, called out a TV station by name, saying they were being disrespectful. Earlier in the day, he seemed calm about his recovery and confident he would play in the World Cup. "Take it easy, because Im going to make it (to the cup) and will work very hard these days to be at 100 per cent, and help out my teammates," Suarez told El Pais newspaper. According to Suarezs sister, the striker was expected to be out for 2-3 weeks. Uruguay plays its first match at the World Cup against Costa Rica in 23 days. The team face England five days later and Italy five days after that. "The problem is that these days he wont be able to play, and will only be able to do physiotherapy," Giovanna Suarez said. Suarez is expected to be Uruguays main threat at the World Cup. He had his best season with Liverpool, scoring a league-leading 31 goals, and was voted the league player of the year. He scored three goals at the 2010 World Cup, and four when Uruguay won the 2011 Copa America in Argentina. He was named player of the tournament. Rashaad Penny Seahawks Jersey . OAKLAND, Calif. -- Just when it looked like the Oakland Athletics had turned things around with consecutive wins in Seattle, they put together one of their sloppiest performances of the year. Scott Kazmir allowed a two-run homer to Jake Smolinski, and shortstop Jed Lowrie made an error that led to a pair of unearned runs as the As lost 6-3 to the last-place Texas Rangers on Tuesday night. "I feel like that was a game that just doesnt happen in September in a race to make the playoffs," Kazmir said. "You just dont play like that. ... To be honest, Ive never seen anything like that before at a major league level." Oakland made two errors, threw two wild pitches and got another rough outing from Kazmir (14-9) to lose for the 15th time in 22 games. The As remained one game ahead of Kansas City for the top wild-card spot. The Mariners are a game behind the Royals for the second berth. "We just didnt look like we were ready to play tonight for whatever reason defensively," manager Bob Melvin said. "We got beat all the way around, unfortunately. I thought wed come ready to play." Nick Tepesch (5-10) allowed three runs in six innings to beat the As for the first time in six career appearances. The Rangers have won four straight for the first time since April. Neftali Feliz pitched the ninth for his 10th save in 11 chances. Smolinski provided the big offensive blow when he hit his first career home run in his first game against live pitching since breaking a bone in his left foot while fouling off a pitch on July 21. "Thats one I wont forget," Smolinski said. "It was kind of cool. It was nice to get that first hit back out of the way." The Rangers added another run in the fourth when Rougned Odor reached on a grounder to Lowrie and scored from first on Daniel Robertsons single to right. Josh Reddick threw Robertson out at second, but Odor never stopped running on the play and scored. After the As scored twice in the bottom half, the Rangers broke it open with three runs in the fifth after Lowries miscue. Lowrie threw high to first on Ryan Ruas grounder for a two-base error that allowed Adrian Beltre to score. Robinson Chirinos and Odor added RBI singles to make it 6-2. Kazmir allowed six runs -- four earned -- in 4 1-3 innings and is 0-4 with an 8.22 ERA over his past five starts. TRAINERS ROOM Rangers: OF Michael Choice will be sidelined six to eight weeks with a strained left hamstring, and GM Jon Daniels said it was unlikely Choice will play winter ball as originally planned. ... OF Shin-Soo Choo, already out for the season with an elbow injury, will have surgery on his left ankle that shouldnt impact his availability for next season. Athletics: C Stephen Vogt (sprained left ankle) hit before the game and could be available as a pinch-hitter Tuesday. UP NEXT Rangers: LHP Derek Holland (1-0) will make his fourth start of the season. The Rangers said he is the first pitcher since at least 1900 to pitch at least seven innings, allow one or fewer runs and no walks in his first three starts of a season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Athletics: RHP Jeff Samardzija (6-12) will face the Rangers for the first time in his career. MAULING MOSS After going 39 straight games without a homer, Brandon Moss connected for the second straight game for Oakland in one of the few bright spots of the day. "Ive been feeling a lot better lately," Moss said. "Its just a matter of swinging at good pitches and not missing good pitches." STAT OF THE DAY Kazmir retired all three batters he faced with a runner in scoring position and two outs. For the season, Kazmir has allowed just four hits in 56 at-bats (.071 batting average) in those situations. That would beat Jack Morris .082 batting average against in 1987 as the best mark in the majors since at least 1974. Leonard Fournette Jersey . Two days after Meriweather was told he would miss time for repeated violations of player safety rules, hearing officer Ted Cottrell reduced the punishment to one game. Cottrell was jointly appointed by the league and the players union. Meriweathers suspension by NFL vice-president of football operations Merton Hanks came for repeated hits to the head and neck area of defenceless players, including two in Washingtons 45-41 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Meriweather was flagged for a helmet-to-helmet hit when tackling receiver Alshon Jeffery on a 28-yard completion with about two minutes left in the third quarter. He also was penalized for a helmet-first hit on Brandon Marshall in the end zone on an incomplete pass with a little more than four minutes remaining in the game. "All of these officials, if theyre going to make a mistake, they want to protect the player, so if its anywhere close to being a helmet-to-helmet, they are throwing a 15-yard flag, and thats what theyre being told to do. If you get anywhere around that head, youve got a chance to hurt your football team," Washington coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday in Ashburn, Va. "Were constantly emphasizing it, but its tough in the heat of battle for these guys. Youre very competitive. You want to get after them. Then all of a sudden, a guy might duck at the last second, and all of a sudden you have helmet-to-helmet, and they dont even look at intent."; In Week 2, Meriweather was fined $42,000 for a helmet-first hit on Green Bay running back Eddie Lacy, forcing Lacy out of the game with a concussion.dddddddddddd Later that same day, another helmet-first hit gave Meriweather himself a concussion, knocking him out of the game. Meriweather will lose about $70,000 in salary when he sits out Sundays game at the Denver Broncos. He is not allowed to participate in any football activities with the team during the suspension. "Its unfortunate that the league felt like it needed to suspend him," Redskins linebacker London Fletcher said. "If a receiver sees you and he ducks, sometimes youre going to hit the guy, and the intent was to not even hit the guy, so thats the tough position defenders are in. ... A lot of times you cant avoid the situation." The suspension could leave the Redskins without their two starting safeties when they face Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Strong safety Reed Doughty got a concussion when the Bears attempted an onside kick in the fourth quarter. Meriweather said after last weekends game that he thought both hits against the Bears were legal. He said hes tried to change his game to suit the NFLs tackling rules. "I wasnt trying to be dirty. I wasnt trying to hurt nobody," he said. "I didnt lead with my -- didnt launch with my -- head. I used my shoulder like they told me to do." Redskins cornerback Josh Wilson said Wednesday: "You just got to adjust. I feel like he is. Hes trying to be a better player. But sometimes its hard to lose that reputation in the end." HOUSTON -- Texans coach Gary Kubiak will remain in hospital until at least Tuesday after collapsing on the field at halftime of Houstons 27-24 loss to Indianapolis. The team said the 52-year-old Kubiak experienced "dizziness and a light-headed feeling" during Sunday nights game before being taken by ambulance to a hospital. The Texans have not said what caused the problem, saying only that Kubiak has gone through a battery of tests and is with his family. "Gary is alert, coherent and in good spirits," general manager Rick Smith said Monday as questions swirled about the coachs health. "He is continuing to be evaluated and monitored." Kubiak will remain at the hospital for at least the next 24 hours, the team said, leaving the reeling Texans, losers of six straight, left to wonder when hell return. "There was a lot of unknown," said defensive co-ordinator Wade Phillips, who coached the team after halftime. "Everything was unknown as to what was going on and what happened to Kube." Kubiak hunched over and dropped to his knees at the 24-yard line and he was immediately surrounded by medical personnel. He was taken off the field on a stretcher and put in an ambulance. Kubiak has been head coach in Houston since 2006, a former NFL quarterback who calls the teams plays. The Texans were a trendy Super Bowl pick in the off-season and started 2-0, but the season had turned into a disaster even before Sunday night. "Its on your mind when youre out there playing," receiver Andre Johnson said. "But you try to focus on the game and just go out and do your job." Up 21-3 when Kubiak collapsed, the Texans struggled after halftime as the Colts rallied for a win. Veteran safety Ed Reed didnt want to blame the loss on what happened to Kubiak, who has never publicly disclosed any health problems. "I thought we dealt with it well," Reed said. "Weve just got to finish." Kubiaks collapse came a day after Denver Broncos coach John Fox was hospitalized in North Carolina as he awaits aortic valve replacement surgery. The 58-year-old Fox will have surgery and miss several weeks while recuperating. Fox had been told earlier about his heart condition and was hoping to put off the operation until February. On Saturday, Fox became dizzy playing golf near his off-season home in Charlotte and was taken to a hospital, where tests revealed he couldnt wait any longer. Kubiak made his mark as Denvers offensive co-ordinator under Mike Shanahan, winning two Super Bowls. An eighth-round pick out of Texas A&M, he spent nine years as John Elways backup. He finished his career 4-1 as a starter, all in emergency relief of Elway. Kubiak has long been known as a top offensive coach, mentoring quarterbacks in Denver and now Matt Schaub -- and Case Keenum -- in Houston. Kubiak was hired in 2006, along with Smith, after the Texans finished a franchise-worst 2-14. Smith spent 10 years with Kubiak while the coach was offensive co-ordinator of the Broncos. The pair has helped transform the Texans, which began play in 2002, from league laughingstock to contender. The team went 6-10 in their first year and 8-8 in each of the next two seasons. Expectations were high in 2010 after Houston finished at 9-7 for its first winning record in 2009. But the Texans instead fell to 6-10, which led to many fans calling for Kubiaks firing. His original contract was due to expire after the 2010 season, but owner Bob McNair has stepped up to keep Kubiak and defend him several times amid the bumps. Last year, the Texans announced contract extensions for both Smith and Kubiak, rewarding them for taking the team to the playoffs last year for the first time. Kubiaks three-year agreement has him under contract through 2014. McNair said at the time he offered Kubiak a four-year deal, but the coach preferred to make it for three. "Our primary concern is of course with Garys health and well-being," Smith said. Winners of two straight, the Flames will try to become the first team in 25 years to go three consecutive games without taking a penalty Saturday night in San Jose.Winnipeg Jets 3, New Jersey Devils 1 – The game was the start of a six game, Eastern Conference road trip for the Jets, with the win snapping a four-game winless skid (0-2-2) that followed a four-game winning streak. The win moves the Jets season record to 11-11-4, and 4-5-1 on the road. The only goal in the first period was scored by Mark Scheifele, his second of the season and first since the opening game. Scheifele took a pass from Michael Frolik and beat Martin Brodeur high glove. The game stayed that way until Evander Kane fired a shot right off a face-off to make it 2-0. It was Kanes first in 12 games, giving him seven on the year. The goalless drought was one short of his career-high for games without a goal. Olli Jokinen drew the assist, giving him 14 points on the year, same as he had last year in the shortened season. The Devils pushed hard in the third and midway through the period made it a one-goal game on a deflection by Patrik Elias, but solid goaltending by Ondrej Pavelec kept the Jets in front with Devin Setoguchi ending it with an empty net goal in the final minute. It was a two-assist night for Dustin Byfuglien, his sixth multiple-point game of the year. Byfuglien now has six goals and 21 points on the year, good for second in the NHL for defenceman. He has six goals and 12 points in his last 10 games. The win for Pavelec was the 100th of his career. Byfuglien and Enstrom both had strong games and were each plus three in the game. Enstrom did not make the scoresheet but made a number of great passes, allowing the Jets to get out of their own zone.dddddddddddd Mark Stuart also had a strong game as he and his teammates shut down Jaromir Jagr and the top line of the Devils. Stuart had five blocked shots, while Jagr, Dainuis Zubrus and Travis Zajac were each minus three in the game. Jokinen finished the night winning 11 of 21 face-offs after winning only one of six in the first period. Scheifele won seven of nine. The game also marked the return of Jacob Trouba, who missed the past 17 games with a neck injury. Trouba was solid in 19:59 of work. Final shots favoured New Jersey, 26-22. "They came on hard in the third," said head coach Claude Noel after the game. "We never got unnerved, we stuck with it. We had a lot of sacrifices, a lot of blocked shots. (14) We were really engaged in the game and did a lot of good things. We remained composed from about eight minutes left until the empty net goal. It was also another strong game from Pavelec." Noel was happy to see Scheifele and Kane get goals and also recognized a strong game from Blake Wheeler, who has now gone 12 games without a goal. Wheeler had three blocked shots in the game and three shots on goal. He had a great chance in the third but was stopped by the right arm of Brodeur. The road trip continues Wednesday on Long Island against the Islanders (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). Islanders have dropped three in a row, but have not played since Saturday. Jets took advantage of a Devils team that just returned from a three-game California trip that ended in San Jose Saturday. Chan has won the last three world titles, but is uncertain about continuing to compete. Virtue and Moir are two-time world winners and took the gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Chan and Virtue and Moir also led Canada to silver in the inaugural team event at the Sochi Olympics. Chan was beaten by Yuzuru Hanyu at Sochi. Olympian Kevin Reynolds, who was 15th at the games, will lead Canadas three-man singles team at the event in Saitama from March 24-30. Virtue and Moir are expected to retire. They came second to Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White at Sochi. Both of Canadas women from the Sochi Games are entered in the worlds: Kaetlyn Osmond, 13th at Sochi, and Gabrielle Daleman, 17th. Other Canadian Olympians who will compete at Saitama are Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, who wound up seventh in pairs; Kirsten Moore-Towers and Dylan Moscovitch, who were fifth; and Paige Lawrence and Rudi Swiegers, who came in 14th. Duval, who lost in the second round at Wimbledon last week, was diagnosed after a biopsy was taken in England before Wimbledon and further tests in the United States confirmed the results, her management team said Friday. "It is with a heavy heart that I will have to step away from tennis competition for a short period after being diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma," Duval said in the statement. The statement said Hodgkins, the most common form of cancer in adolescents, "was caught in a very early stage." "(She) will undergo treatment right away and due to her overall good health and isolation of the cancer, the prognosis is a full recovery in a few months," the statement said. Treatment for Hodgkins lymphoma, a cancer of the white blood cells, has a high rate of success among young people. Its the latest challenge for Duval and her family: as a child, she was kidnapped in her parents home country of Haiti. And her father was trapped for days in the rubble of his house there after a devastating 2010 earthquake. Duval reached the second round of the U.S. Open last year, beating 2011 champion Sam Stosur in the first round. As a qualifier in the main draw last week at Wimbledon, she lost in the second round to Belinda Bencic of Switzerland. Duval said she received the news after the first round of qualifying at Wimbledon, but decided to continue playing. She beat 29th-seeded Sorana Cirstea of Romania 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the first round. "Being on court provided me with much comfort," she said. "I have complete faith that God will assist me and my family with all that we need, to achieve victory and become stronger from this journey.ddddddddddddI picture myself healthy, stronger and competing again soon." Billie Jean King said in a tweet that Duval "is a fighter and she will approach this new challenge with a plan and a conviction to win. Thoughts go out to her & family." The Philadelphia Freedoms confirmed Duval would miss the World Team Tennis season beginning in July. Players plan to support Duval by wearing a special patch with her initials. Based in Bradenton, Florida, Duval was born in in the U.S. but grew up Haiti. She has said that when she was 7, she and some cousins were taken hostage there by robbers. "Its not a good memory, so Ive tried to forget as much as I could about it," Duval said at last years U.S. Open when the subject was raised after her win over Stosur. "I dont remember too much of it anymore, which is great." In 2010, when Haiti was rocked by an earthquake, her father was badly injured in the rubble. "Theres a lot to be thankful for. I dont take anything for granted. ... My Dad is really fortunate to be here," she told the U.S. Open crowd last year during an on-court interview. Other tennis players have had recent successful returns from Hodgkins lymphoma. At this years Australian Open, British player Ross Hutchins returned to the tour after almost a year-long layoff and several months of chemotherapy. Alisa Kleybanova of Russia came back at the 2013 U.S. Open after missing nearly two seasons because of the illness. Hutchins, a doubles player, and Kleybanova, in singles and doubles, both played at Wimbledon this year. Everyone knew the Chiefs would score an enormous amount of points against the Bengals on Sunday Night Football Youth Michael Jordan Jersey , but the Cincinnati defense looked worse than could have possibly been imagined. And the same is true of the Bengals’ offense. The Bengals were completely embarrassed in primetime (stop us if you’ve heard that before) and lost 45-10 to the Chiefs. The last time the Bengals allowed 43 points was on Sunday Night Football in 2014, against the “we’re on to Cincinnati” Patriots.Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes looked like a god among men in Week 7 — much like he has all season — hurling the ball all over the field. He threw an interception to Shawn Williams in the third quarter, but that was the only blemish on his nearly perfect performance. He ended the game with 358 yards, four touchdowns, a completion percentage of 71.8 and a rating of 123.7. For comparison, Andy Dalton only had 148 yards, a 51.3 completion percentage, and a 63.6 rating. Jeff Driskel actually finished off the game.Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt was unstoppable as well, gaining more than 140 total yards and scoring three touchdowns.Even though the Chiefs’ defense sits at the bottom of the league in most statistical categories, the Bengals’ offense made them look amazing. The Bengals netted less than 200 yards on offense, and nobody other than A.J. Green did anything worth writing home about. Green received 117 of Dalton’s 148 yards, and totaled about three fourths of the Bengals’ total offense. The game got so out of hand that Driskel made his first appearance of the season (his first regular-season snaps) to finish out the game for the Bengals. Driskel would go four for four with 39 yards and one rush for five yards.Between the Bengals’ inability to either score or prevent the Chiefs from scoring, they went on to lose by a staggering score of 45-10.The Chiefs’s defense forced the a punt for the first time in 17 drives when the Bengals went three-and-out on their first drive. When Patrick Mahomes came out to lead the offense, he would not be stopped. Despite a great punt from Kevin Huber and a penalty on the Chiefs during the return, Kansas City drove 95 yards in 10 plays and only faced one third down (which they easily converted). Kareem Hunt made several spectacular plays, including his touchdown reception with 8:08 left in the first quarter. On the sideline around the two-yard line, Mahomes’ pass sent Hunt leaping in the air to grab it. But once Hunt came down with the ball White Michael Jordan Jersey , he kept both feet in bounds and dove for the pylon to get six points on the six-yard pass. Harrison Butker’s extra point was good, and the Chiefs took an easy 7-0 lead. The Bengals punted again on their next drive and it only took a 43-yard pass to Travis Kelce to spark the Chiefs’ offense again. But the Bengals finally got a stop on third-and-17 after a 25-yard completion to Sammy Watkins was overturned as a dropped pass. Marvin Lewis won his seventh-straight challenge to make that happen. The result was a 53-yard field goal attempt from Butker, which went wide left. The Bengals only gave up 48 total yards on the drive and got the ball back on their own 43-yard line. Instead of capitalizing, the Bengals couldn’t get a first down and fearing Kansas City’s prolific offense, decided to try a trick play. But when the snap went to Clayton Fejedelem, who was lined up as a blocker, Fejedelem dropped the ball and turned it over at the Bengals’ 32-yard line.Mahomes and Hunt took advantage of the turnover and scored four plays later. Hunt received a short pass from Mahomes, broke through a Vontaze Burfict tackle (he was missing tackles all night before leaving injured) and dove for the pylon for his second receiving touchdown, this one going for 15 yards. Butker’s kick was good, so the Chiefs had a 14-0 lead over the Bengals with 13:18 left in the second quarter.Andy Dalton found A.J. Green on the next drive, going to the seven-time Pro Bowler four times for 63 yards. Two 12-men-on-the-field penalties also helped the Bengals move down the field. The drive ended on a four-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Uzomah on third-and-goal with 7:25 left in the quarter. With Randy Bullock’s extra point, the Bengals were finally on the scoreboard, still trailing 14-7.Uzomah celebrated his score with the Macarena dance.Hunt remained unstoppable on the next drive, collecting 23 yards on two carries. The Bengals struggled to bring up third down, but when they did the Chiefs converted it with ease. On the second third down of the drive, tight end Demetrius Harris was left wide open in the end zone and was an easy target for Mahomes on the 17-yard score. With 1:55 left in the half, the Chiefs took a 21-7 lead following Butker’s extra point. The Bengals went three-and-out on their next drive despite getting excellent field position on an illegal kick penalty from Butker. The Chiefs Tyler Eifert Jersey , with 1:13 to go before halftime and two timeouts, drove down the field all too easily. The Bengals’ defense didn’t even force a second down until the Chiefs were already inside the 10-yard line. Somehow, the Bengals stopped the Chiefs on third-and-goal from the nine-yard line, so Butker came in to redeem himself and knocked the easy chip-shot through to give the Chiefs an 24-7 lead going into halftime. The first half stats indicate what kind of bloodbath this game was. The Chiefs had 89 rushing yards and Mahomes had 276 passing yards. The Chiefs’ offense was bending the Bengals’ defense to their will. The Chiefs had 18 first downs and and converted five of their seven third downs in the first two quarters. On the offensive side of the ball, Green was the only redeeming factor on the Bengals’ roster. Green received 110 of Dalton’s 118 passing yards in the first half, and he and Joe Mixon were the only receivers with more than one target. The Chiefs started the second half right where they left off and, despite taking a hit from Geno Atkins, Mahomes hit Sammy Watkins for 50 yards on the first play from scrimmage. The “untackleable” Hunt was held to 19 total yards on four touches on that drive, and pushed his way into the end zone for his third touchdown of the game. After Butker’s extra point, the Chiefs were quickly increasing their lead to 31-7 with 11:19 left in the third quarter. But the destruction wasn’t over.On the first play from scrimmage on the Bengals’ ensuing possession, Dalton threw a wayward pass to Chiefs safety Ron Parker, who had an unobstructed path to the endzone for a 33-yard touchdown return, the first of his career. The Bengals gave up 14 points in less than four minutes to start the second half, and Butker’s second extra point of the quarter gave the Chiefs a staggering 38-7 lead with 11:10 to go in the third quarter.Tyler Boyd finally showed up as the Bengals offense finally showed signs of life, even though the game had already been decided by this point. Dalton found Boyd three times for 27 yards on the next drive as the team leader in receptions entering this game finally got involved. For all the good that Boyd was able to do, the Bengals could only muster a field goal attempt. Bullock’s 33-yard attempt was good, and the Bengals cut into the Cheifs’ lead now trailing 38-10 with 6:16 left in the third quarter.Mahomes and Hunt kept wearing out the Bengals defense Drew Sample Cincinnati Bengals Jersey , and a slew of penalties helped keep the chains moving. After going 79 yards on 11 plays, Mahomes fumbled the snap from the three-yard line, but gathered it and fired it to Tyreek Hill in the corner of the end zone to add to the gigantic lead, 45-10 with 12:50 to go in the fourth quarter after the extra point. The Chiefs would threaten to score, but end up turning the ball over on downs inside the Bengals’ five-yard line. The Bengals gave put Driskel under center, but the Bengals would not be able to do anything to change the lopsided score. The Bengals ended up losing 45-10.The Bengals dropped from first place in the AFC North to second following the loss at Kansas City, falling to 4-3 on the year. The Bengals will go back to Cincinnati and face the 3-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday. The last head coach in Cincinnati to get swept by Browns in one season was Dick LeBeau, and he was canned after the season ended. Marvin Lewis will probably not suffer the same fate, but should any head coach keep their job after such a disastrous season? No, but Lewis will. Not only did the Bengals lose, but they made Baker Mayfield look dangerous once again. All of the same problems keep cropping up, like bad offensive line play, bad linebacker play, and bad coaching decisions. But with all of these repeated mistakes, what did we actually learn from this game? The offense needs to add something—anythingAn NFL team went into the locker room at halftime in Week 16 with -15 passing yards. The quarterback of this team had only three yards of passing. This team was the Bengals. The Bengals have been bad on offense in the last several years, but this is a brand new low. It’s a miracle the Bengals walked out of First Energy Stadium with any points at all.But when the Bengals couldn’t manage to score until the fourth quarter against the Browns, things are bad.The frustrating thing is that the Bengals keep trying the same things and they just aren’t working. They keep throwing Alex Redmond out on the offensive line when they have two perfectly good guards that could potentially replace him. We won’t know what they can do until we see them play Drew Sample Jersey 2019 , so why not give Christian Westerman or Trey Hopkins a spin? If Marvin Lewis is concerned about throwing off the line’s rhythm and chemistry, he shouldn’t be because the right side of the line has none.Same goes for Bobby Hart. Right now the tackle position is thin, but why not try Clint Boling at tackle and move Westerman or Hopkins to left guard? Or even Andre Smith at this point?Jeff Driskel has struggled, but he has been given a bad team to work with. His line keeps giving up unrelenting pressure, which is one reason he has only passed for more than 170 once in his first four starts. Another reason is that he doesn’t have anyone to throw the ball to.With A.J. Green — and likely Tyler Boyd — out for the season, the Bengals have no proven receivers left. John Ross has become a touchdown machine, but until the Bengals get into the red zone he is practically invisible. Plus, opposing teams could very easily double him and force Driskel to find someone else. Who else is there? There is Alex Erickson, who is not a No. 1 receiver by any means, but steps up whenever he is called upon. When questionable penalties aren’t negating his gains, he always creates enough separation for a good window and almost always catches the ball when it is thrown his way. Over his career, he has caught a higher percentage of his targets than Cody Core, John Ross, and A.J. Green. If they don’t want to go to Erickson, then why not see what Josh Malone or Auden Tate can do? We have seen nothing from them all season. Why not at least see what we have to work with? The point is, the current set up is not cutting the mustard. Trotting out the same guys week after week will do nothing to improve things. The Bengals have already been eliminated from playoff contention, so what do they have to lose? Marvin Lewis’ job?The Bengals need to keep the defense off the fieldYes Youth Drew Sample Jersey , this has been a critique of the Bengals’ defense all year, but the problem has really come to a head in the Week 16 game.Part of the reason the offense was so unproductive is because they barely had the ball. Driskel only threw the ball 19 times. Combined with his sacks and scrambles, there were only 26 passing plays. The Browns had over 40 and actually threw the ball twice as much as Driskel. In addition, Joe Mixon only ran the ball 17 times. Over the last few weeks the Bengals have been trying to get him over 20 carries a game. Driskel was the only other back to have more than one carry, but only one of those was a designed run. The other two players to have a rushing attempt were Ross and Clayton Fejedelem — two guys who are obviously not vulturing carries. So Mixon isn’t getting the ball, but not because the Bengals aren’t trying. There just aren’t enough snaps to go around. The Bengals ran 46 plays to the Browns’ 66. This deficit is very difficult for any team to overcome. Both teams scored about .39 points per play, so it’s not as if the Bengals’ offensive was less efficient by a wide margin like the score indicates. Having a good offense also keeps the defense off the field. Keeping the worst unit in the NFL off the field might help the Bengals give up fewer points. The Bengals can’t win at the line of scrimmageThe Bengals spent a lot of money this offseason on keeping their best defensive linemen around, but it didn’t do much good on Sunday. The Bengals had no sacks, no quarterback hits, and only one tackle for a loss. The defense is losing at the line of scrimmage, and that helped Baker Mayfield feel comfortable in the pocket in both of their games against him. With a young quarterback (and four upcoming divisional games against young quarterbacks next season), the defense is going to need to get him off his spot and make him uncomfortable.Of course, the offense winning at the line will help the offense too, but there’s no need to beat that dead horse again.

Watt Jersey White , who are coming off their bye, visit Washington on Sunday before hosting the Titans on Nov. 26.

ST. LOUIS - Tre Mason averaged just 2.5 yards per carry last week. A critical lost fumble hurt the most for the St. Louis Rams rookie running back, and he is looking for a bounce-back game against the New York Giants.Rams coach Jeff Fisher is confident his young back can return to the form that earned him the starting job.Hes been productive but as coaches, we tend to remember the things, the problems, you know the fumble thing, Fisher said Friday after practice. But I mean hes explosive. Hes shown hes got that speed to go the distance. Hes a highly emotional, energetic back whos been fun to watch.Mason, a third-round pick from Auburn, was inactive the first four games of the season. He has started the last six games and leads the Rams with 155 carries and 661 yards. However, in the 12-6 loss to Arizona, Mason managed just 33 yards on 13 carries. His 2.5 yards per attempt is the fewest Mason has averaged in any game so far this season. He also lost the first fumble of his professional career, late in the first quarter. Larry Foote recovered it at the St. Louis 27, leading to the first of four field goals for Arizonas Chandler Catanzaro. If he was hanging onto it, it wouldnt have come out, Fisher said. If he held the ball tightly it wouldnt have come out. He didnt see the defender. He was caught off guard.Mason did not duck responsibility for putting the ball on the turf.I always say theres no excuse, no matter how it happens, how it happens, for a running back to put the ball on the ground, Mason said. Theres no excuse. Like any running back would do, you try to situate the ball. Youve got to situate the ball. I saw the hole open and I made a cut without the ball pretty much.Ill never give an excuse for a fumble no matter how it happened. Thats my job as a running back to hold on to the ball.Rams offensive co-ordinator Brian Schottenheimer believes Mason is more focused on ball security.I think hes a real prideful guy. I think he was disappointed as anybody that it came out, Schottenheimer said. Hes been really, really good. I think hes just excited to go out and bounce back like we all are. We expect him to perform well.Mason may have that opportunity against New York. The Giants give up 135 yards rushing a game.Playing at home, Mason has been at his best. In the Week 13 win over Oakland, Mason scored three touchdowns, including an 89-yard run that is the second-longest in team history. It was also his second 100-yard game when he finished with 117 yards. He also caught the ball for another 47 yards in the game.Mason gained 113 yards on 29 carries in the Rams win over Denver in Week 11. Making that performance more impressive is the fact Denver entered the game with the NFLs top-ranked run defence.Fisher pointed out the Giants run defence statistics are misleading. You have to look at average per carry. Theyve been run on quite a bit, Fisher said. But keep in mind they play teams in that division that can run the football, namely Dallas. So, those numbers are affected. You have to be careful looking at numbers. Its not going to be easy to run against them.Mason is not deterred by Fishers assessment. But he also knows he has much to learn. To help himself get better, Mason said he is in contact with Rams Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk often.I talk to Marshall Faulk a lot, picking his brain, Mason said. Hes one of the greatest so I pick his brain a lot.To become a better back, Mason wants to be a combination of Faulk, Bo Jackson, Jamall Lewis and Chris Johnson. He has his sights set on becoming one of the best.I want to be the best player ever to touch the football, Mason said. Not just running backs. I want to be the best player ever.NOTES: DE Chris Long (ankle) did not participate Friday but is listed as probable for Sundays game.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Taywan Taylor Jersey . - Jesse Shynkaruk scored a hat trick as the Moose Jaw Warriors snapped a seven-game losing streak with an 8-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders in Western Hockey League action on Saturday.
