LeBron James is friends with Draymond Green Sam Darnold Jersey Jets , has worked out with Kevin Durant, speaks with great reverence for Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr.
They all do like each other.
And, to those watching the NBA Finals, that might be easy to forget at times.
Turns out, when the same franchises meet for the fourth consecutive year to decide the NBA championship, familiarity indeed does breed contempt. Tensions have been high at times in the first two games of this series, emotions have started to boil over on a couple of occasions, and that trend will likely be continuing until someone hoists the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
”Even with turnover from players, you have a continuity of management, continuity of culture in organizations,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said. ”There’s the institutional memory there of the wins and the losses. And so, I think it is very meaningful and when you have the same teams that are meeting for the fourth time Justin Reid Color Rush Jersey , it’s part of a larger storyline. It’s not just a one-off game or a one-off series.”
Translated: Everyone should have seen this coming.
There was the dustup at the end of Game 1 when Cleveland’s Tristan Thompson was angered by the Warriors’ Shaun Livingston trying a jumper with the outcome already decided. There was Klay Thompson angered by the recklessness of J.R. Smith crashing into his leg early in the series opener. There was Kendrick Perkins jawing at Stephen Curry after the third quarter of Game 2.
The Warriors and the Cavaliers are certainly not lacking for intensity in these finals.
”Much ado about nothing,” Curry said Sunday night, likely not the most completely honest statement of his career since it couldn’t have been just a coincidence that he made all five of his 3-pointers in the next 8:33 to turn the game into a blowout.
Game 3 is in Cleveland on Wednesday night, with the Warriors up 2-0. Emotions will simmer until then.
”It’s just basketball,” Tristan Thompson said. ”It’s just a competitive sport. Of course we’re going to get irritated with each other, just because we’re both competitors and we both want it all. But it never goes off the court. Maybe for some guys it does, but not for me.”
Rivalries are what make the sport great.
There was the Celtics-Lakers hatred of eras gone past. Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons otherwise known as the Bad Boys. Pat Riley, back in the day, used to forbid his Knicks and Heat teams from helping up opponents when they knocked them over and discouraged fraternizing with the enemy – ever, including the offseason.
Times have changed. Guys vacation together now. It’s a new era.
”We’re not holding hands and singing songs as friends,” Curry said. ”We’re enjoying the competitive environment. I think that’s the consistent thing between our two teams. Obviously we see each other twice a year during the regular season and then you wait until June. … It’s just about winning a championship. You don’t want to let anything distract us from that on the floor.”
Sometimes, the ribbing goes off the court.
James raised eyebrows when he showed up with a suit jacket and matching shorts for Game 1 http://www.bearsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-james-daniels-jersey , then arrived at Game 2 with a similar look. Never missing a chance to get under someone’s collar, Green showed up at Game 2 also in the jacket-shorts mode.
”Fun,” Green said.
There’s basketball beefs, and then there’s real-world beefs. Someone tried to get Green to draw a parallel between the Warriors-Cavs animus and the recent musical rivalry between Pusha T and Drake.
He didn’t bite.
”This is nothing like that, nothing at all like that,” Green said.
Everything is fun for the Warriors right now, since they’ve won the first two games. Understandably, not much seems like fun to the Cavaliers. But no matter how this series ends, whenever it ends, there will be hugs and handshakes.
Until then, it’s just all part of the game.
That’s why things, while often heated http://www.bearsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-anthony-miller-jersey , never seem to get overheated.
”They’re a championship team, we’re a championship team, and we both have experience,” the Warriors’ Kevon Looney said. ”So it’s going to get a little chippy out there.”
The commissioner is fine with that, provided things stay within reason.
”The game ends, they take their proverbial cold shower and then they put it behind them,” Silver said. ”Until the next game.”

Gabriel Landeskog sat at his locker stall, his skates still laced and most of his gear still on.
The only thing missing was his jersey, which was given to a lucky fan.
Quick, get the captain a new one – the Colorado Avalanche are going to need it where they’re going.
Nathan MacKinnon scored his first goal in 10 games, Jonathan Bernier stopped 32 shots and the Avalanche earned the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with a 5-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.
Defensemen Samuel Girard and Tyson Barrie scored, while Landeskog and Matt Nieto added empty-netters for the Avalanche http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-tremaine-edmunds-jersey , who won the West’s second wild card and head to the postseason for the first time since 2013-14. They will face top-seeded Nashville in the opening round a season after recording a league-low 48 points.
”It’s an unbelievable accomplishment,” MacKinnon said. ”It’s got to be one of the best accomplishments in modern sports history.”
Landeskog already has a start on his playoff beard.
Game No. 82 for these two boiled down to a winner-take-all scenario. Although, there was one caveat – the Avalanche couldn’t allow the game to go to overtime since the Blues held the tiebreaker. St. Louis pulled out all the stops late in the third: Taking out goalie Jake Allen with around 4:35 remaining. Landeskog and Nieto sealed the win with empty-net tallies that sent the raucous crowd into full celebration mode.
”Credit to Colorado they’ve improved immensely over the last couple of years,” Allen said. ”They played well again tonight.”
Colorado finished with 95 points to become first NHL team to post a 40-point gain over an 82-game season since the Pittsburgh Penguins jumped 47 from 2005-06 (58) to 2006-07 (105).
Next up, rest. That’s Landeskog’s plan anyway – lay on the couch with his dog and watch the Masters on Sunday. Then, get ready for Nashville.
”If we play the way we played tonight, we have a good chance,” Bernier said.
Jaden Schwartz had a power-play goal and Brayden Schenn scored with 38.4 seconds remaining for the Blues, who saw their playoff appearance streak halted at six straight seasons.
The Blues arrived in town late following a 4-1 win in Chicago on Friday night. They sent Allen to the Mile High City early so he would be better rested for the big game. Allen made one diving save after another to keep things close. He even played through a tweaked hamstring he suffered in the game.
”Any other game I probably would have went out but this a game we needed to win,” Allen said.
St. Louis was dealt a blow midway through the first period when leading goal-scorer Vladimir Tarasenko left with an upper-body injury. He didn’t return.
”He was very disappointed,” Blues coach Mike Yeo said.
Leading 2-1 late in the third, MacKinnon beat Allen with a shot over the goaltender’s shoulder. MacKinnon had been held without a goal since March 18 when he had two against Detroit. He finished with 97 points – the most by an Avalanche player since Joe Sakic had 100 in 2006-07.
Barrie gave Colorado a 2-0 lead in the second on a goal from the blue line that led to a challenge by St. Louis Daryl Worley Color Rush Jersey , which felt the puck left the zone. The officials took a long look before ruling it a good goal and determined ”there were no definitive replays which showed that the puck left the attacking zone,” according to NHL situation room.
”I’m not going to blame the season on a bad call,” Yeo said.
Girard scored his first goal since Feb. 22 on a slap shot through traffic with 46 seconds left in the first period to give the Avs a 1-0 advantage. He was acquired by Colorado from Nashville in the three-team deal that sent Matt Duchene to Ottawa in November.
The last time two teams met in their final game of the season while contending for the last available playoff spot in the conference was 2010. In that contest, Philadelphia beat the New York Rangers in a shootout.
”What a night,” Landeskog said.
NOTES: Blues D Alex Pietrangelo played in his 617th career NHL game. He surpassed Bob Plager for second on the team’s all-time list for defensemen. … Colorado was without D Erik Johnson and G Semyon Varlamov, who are both sidelined by knee injuries. Varlamov won’t have a chance to play in the first round, coach Jared Bednar said. … Colorado had 28 home wins, matching a franchise record for wins that was set in 2000-01, when the team hoisted the Stanley Cup.

Brandon Tanev will have to watch video of himself celebrating his first NHL career hat trick because he can’t remember what he did.
The second-year fourth-line forward scored his third goal of the game early in the third period Patrick Omameh Color Rush Jersey , and Patrik Laine got the deciding score of the shootout to lift the Winnipeg Jets to a 5-4 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.
”I kind of blacked out and didn’t really know what I was doing,” Tanev said of the moment when hats started raining down on the ice from the crowd at Bell MTS Place. ”It was just a great feeling.”
Laine deked and his shot in the fourth round of the tiebreaker trickled under Bruins goalie Anton Khudobin. Mark Scheifele also scored in the shootout for Winnipeg and Bruins rookie Ryan Donato beat Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck.
The victory capped a perfect six-game homestand for the Jets.
”You’re so happy for him” Winnipeg captain Blake Wheeler said of Tanev. ”That line doesn’t really have a glamourous job. They’re supposed to go out there and basically just shut down the other team’s best players, play heavy on them. They’ve done just an outstanding job of it all year, especially when they’ve been healthy.
”I’m sure he’s going to remember this for a long time. That was as excited as I’ve seen our bench all year.”
Defenseman Joe Morrow had his first goal for Winnipeg since being acquired from Montreal last month, and sixth of the season. Adam Lowry had two assists.
Donato, Danton Heinen, David Pastrnak and Torey Krug had goals for the Bruins Andrei Svechnikov Hurricanes Jersey , who scored three power-play goals. Krug added one assist and Brad Marchand had two.
”It’s tough to play in this building,” Pastrnak said. ”It’s a hell of a point for us. We had chances to get two, but at the same time we could have zero.”
Hellebuyck made 28 saves to pick up his 40th win for the Jets. It was also their seventh straight victory at home.
Khudobin also stopped 28 shots as Boston ended a four-game road trip 2-0-2 and pulled one point behind Tampa Bay for first place in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period and Winnipeg scored twice to take a 3-1 lead into the third. The second period ended with Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey being handed a major for boarding the Bruins’ Matt Grzelcyk.
Boston scored two power-play goals by the 3:36 mark of the third.
”You see a guy that’s played an important role for our team since guys have gone down take a heavy hit there, you want to step up for him,” Krug said of Grzelcyk. ”We don’t back down from anyone so it kind of lit a fire into our team and our group.”
Tanev, a Toronto native, then scored his third of the game with an unassisted short-handed goal at 4:29 to take a 4-3 lead. Krug tied the game 4-4 at 8:06 with another power-play goal through traffic after Scheifele was sent to the penalty box for cross-checking Krug.
Winnipeg outshot Boston 4-3 in overtime http://www.dolphinsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-mike-gesicki-jersey , with Hellebuyck getting a piece of Marchand’s breakaway shot in the waning seconds.
”It was kind of a weird game,” Wheeler said. ”And then we had to kill (penalties) seemingly all night. The guys out on the kill lost their juice a little bit. You’ve just got to battle. Hopefully that doesn’t happen again, but you never know.
”We might have to go through that sometime this spring, and you’ve got to find a way to go through it.”
Tanev began the game’s scoring when he banged at the puck from the side of the net until it went across the goal line at 5:33 of the first period. A Boston challenge was unsuccessful.
Scheifele’s turnover in the defensive zone led to Donato putting a backhand shot past Hellebuyck with 53 seconds left in the first. The unassisted goal was Donato’s third score and fifth point in his fifth NHL game.
Winnipeg scored two straight in the second, with Tanev firing a low shot by Khudobin just 16 seconds into the period. Scheifele then set up Morrow’s 3-1 goal at 6:25 for the 3-1 lead.
The Jets challenged Heinen’s goal at 1:45 of the third for offside, but it stood. Winnipeg was then dinged for delay of game for the challenge and Pastrnak scored at 3:36.
NOTES: Winnipeg’s Blake Wheeler had an assist, giving him 600 career points. It extended the captain’s point streak to seven games Marquez Valdes-Scantling Color Rush Jersey , with two goals and eight assists.

Bruins: Host Tampa Bay on Thursday night.
Jets: At Chicago on Thursday night in the opener of a four-game trip.
The struggling New York Mets made a couple of roster changes Friday, cutting Hansel Robles and demoting fellow reliever Paul Sewald to the minor leagues.
Right-hander Drew Smith and outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski were called up from Triple-A Las Vegas before the opener of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Robles was designated for assignment, removing him from the 40-man roster. New York has seven days to trade, release or send him outright to the minors. The right-hander was 2-2 with a 5.03 ERA in 16 appearances during his fourth season with the Mets. He allowed seven home runs and walked 10 in 19 2/3 innings.
”Hansel’s been with us quite a while. We’ve seen him pitch well. We’ve seen him pitch less well. We’ve got a number of other young relievers, some of whom we acquired last year at the trade deadline, we want to take a look at,” general manager Sandy Alderson said. ”So we just felt it was time to take a look at a couple of additional people. We’re excited to see what Drew Smith can do for us.”
Sewald and fellow right-hander Chris Flexen were optioned to Las Vegas following Thursday’s loss at Colorado. Sewald was 0-4 with a 4.85 ERA in 26 games Hernan Perez Milwaukee Brewers Jersey , and Flexen had an 11.57 ERA in 2 1/3 innings.
Smith, obtained from Tampa Bay last July for first baseman Lucas Duda, was 4-1 with three saves and a 2.88 ERA in 23 combined games at Double-A Binghamton and Las Vegas this year.
Kaczmarski was batting .346 with a .416 on-base percentage in 33 combined games between Class A St. Lucie and Las Vegas. He missed time while recovering from hernia surgery.
Smith and Kaczmarski were both looking to make their major league debuts.
New York began the day 31-41 and fourth in the NL East after losing 20 of its previous 26 games
”Given where we are currently, realistically, I think it’s important for us to see what other people can do,” Alderson said. ”Drew Smith, Kaczmarski http://www.jaguarsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-logan-cooke-jersey , let’s see what they can do within the framework of trying to win some games immediately over the next few weeks. But what we’re trying to do is make sure we’re as competitive as we can possibly be over the next couple of weeks while at the same time not being afraid to try out new faces.”
In another move, injured reliever A.J. Ramos (right shoulder surgery) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

The Cleveland Browns’ roster still needs major work. Their front office is starting to shape up.
New general manager John Dorsey tapped into his NFL connections to improve the winless Browns, adding former Green Bay executives Eliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith on Wednesday in the club’s first major moves in a significant offseason.
Dorsey played linebacker for the Packers and spent time working in the club’s front office with Wolf and Highsmith Russell Bodine Color Rush Jersey , two highly regarded talent evaluators with solid reputations.
The 35-year-old Wolf, who is considered a rising star in the league, will serve as Dorsey’s assistant while Highsmith, a former NFL running back, is the Browns’ vice president of player personnel.
”We’re lucky to add Alonzo and Eliot to our personnel staff http://www.cardinalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-josh-rosen-jersey ,” said Dorsey, who was hired last month by owner Jimmy Haslam.
”Alonzo’s 25 years of experience in the National Football League as a player, scout and personnel executive give him a unique perspective when it comes to evaluating talent and building a team.
”Alonzo and I share the same passion for this great game of football. We are going to set out to find talented football players that possess that same passion for the game.
”Eliot has been a fine executive in this league for some time now. It’s been great to watch him grow up around this league when I was with him in Green Bay and from afar for the last five-plus years. He’s been a big reason for the consistent success the Packers have experienced over the last decade.”
Wolf spent 14 seasons with the Packers, working as the club’s director of football operations for the past two. He recently interviewed for the Green Bay GM job that went to Brian Gutekunst and Wolf was reportedly offered a spot to work in Oakland with Raiders’ GM Reggie McKenzie. Dorsey, McKenzie and Wolf all worked together in Green Bay.
But the son of Hall of Fame executive Ron Wolf is instead joining the Browns http://www.ramsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-joseph-noteboom-jersey , still crawling from the wreckage of a 0-16 season while preparing for a draft in which they’ll have the No. 1 overall pick and four in the top 35.
”I really like the direction of where leadership is headed,” Wolf said. ”We’re going to build this team the right way and to be a part of that from the ground up is going to be special.”
Highsmith spent 19 years in Green Bay’s scouting department. After starring at Miami, Highsmith was the No. 3 overall pick in the 1987 draft by the Houston Oilers.
”This is going to be an exciting challenge,” Highsmith said. ”It’s great to reunite with John Dorsey. He is someone I’ve looked up to and has always been a mentor to me. We had great success together in Green Bay and we both understand the hard work it takes to create a winning environment.
”I’m grateful to have the opportunity to be part of something special. Some of my fondest memories in football were playing the Browns in the playoffs one year and the fans throwing dog bones at us so we had to turn around and play that series at the opposite end zone.”
Dorsey’s hiring of Wolf and Highsmith is a return to a more ”traditional” football model for Cleveland’s front office, which emphasized analytics in two failed seasons under fired vice president of football operations Sashi Brown.
Dorsey has also brought in former co-workers in Kansas City http://www.ravensauthorizedshops.com/authentic-mark-andrews-jersey , adding Jimmy Noel as assistant director of pro scouting, Matt Donahoe as a scout and Dan Zegers as personnel coordinator.
All three worked with the Chiefs under Dorsey, who was surprisingly let go by the team in June after four seasons.
The Browns also said Ken Kovash, a vice president of player personnel the past two seasons, will transition to a role in the club’s strategy department under Paul DePodesta.
Ryan Grigson Riley Sutter Capitals Jersey , a senior personnel executive, has been dismissed.

When Barry Trotz resigned http://www.49ersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-weston-richburg-jersey , the Washington Capitals didn’t even bother with a coaching search.
There was only one candidate and he got the job.
Top assistant Todd Reirden will take over the Stanley Cup-champion Capitals, promoted from the bench on Friday in a move that allows Washington to maintain a sense of continuity. Reirden coached the defensemen the past four seasons, was a finalist for another NHL head job two years ago, earned a promotion to associate coach and played a substantial role in the first championship in franchise history.
”We feel that the time is right for Todd to lead our hockey club,” general manager Brian MacLellan said. ”Based on his coaching experience, communication abilities, his approach to the game and the respect he commands in our locker room, we feel that Todd has earned this opportunity.”
MacLellan hopes promoting Reirden from within will allow the team to ”transition seamlessly into next season and beyond.”
Given his four-year tenure on Trotz’s staff and the league-wide view of him as a rising star in coaching, Reirden was the only one interviewed for this job. He was hired less than two weeks after Trotz resigned and eight days after the veteran Cup-winning coach joined the New York Islanders.
The 47-year-old former defenseman coached the American Hockey League’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for parts of two seasons before serving as an NHL assistant with Pittsburgh for four years. Reirden was a finalist for the Calgary coaching job two summers ago but after losing out to since-fired Glen Gulutzan was given a raise and the associate coach title by the Capitals.
As the assistant in charge of the defense, Reirden had a hand in the development of John Carlson, Matt Niskanen and Dmitry Orlov.
”I thought he was crucial for my career and just changed kind of a few things how I looked at the game, changed a few things with the D that I think really benefited everyone on D and made it pretty clear what he expected of us and allowed us to go out there and do the rest,” Carlson said after signing a $64 million, eight-year contract to stick around.
MacLellan said last week this was Reirden’s job to lose.
”He’s got history there and he’s ready to try it as a head coach Kendall Wright Color Rush Jersey , and he’s been successful with our defensemen,” he said. ”I think he can handle the personalities in our room.”
Reirden takes over a defending champion led by captain and playoff MVP Alex Ovechkin, who was motivated by Trotz to adapt his game at age 32. He is the first assistant to take over for a Cup-winning coach the next season since Dave Lewis replaced the retired Scotty Bowman with Detroit in 2002-03 and the first to follow a champion coach who left in a contract dispute since Colin Campbell replaced Mike Keenan with the New York Rangers in 1994-95.
Reirden describes his coaching personality as a mix of those he has worked with in the past – the honesty of Joel Quenneville and the systems skills of Todd McLellan and Todd Richards. He drew rave reviews from Capitals trade-deadline acquisition Michal Kempny, who credited Reirden for putting together an effective plan that contributed to a key part of the Cup run.
”He get my belief in myself back and I really appreciate (him) for it because when I came here I didn’t believe in myself,” Kempny said.
Current and past players praise Reirden for his ability to not only strategize but communicate. As the NHL moves away from taskmasters behind the bench, Reirden fits the mold of a modern coach.
”I think he did a great job taking everybody for being different people and seeing things different ways,” Carlson said. ”I just think he seemed to connect with everyone’s different personalities. I think he makes you look at the game a little bit differently.”
Even the forwards who didn’t deal with Reirden on a one-on-one basis got an idea about his benefits to the team.
”In the room and in practice he’s always giving little tips to everyone,” winger Devante Smith-Pelly said. ”I think he taught me just a lot of little things positional-wise and things like that maybe other coaches never taught me. … He did amazing job, obviously, with the defense and a big part of the whole run. So I think he’ll do a great job and definitely help us defend the Cup.”

The toughness that Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson and the rest of the veterans brought to the Minnesota Timberwolves this season was on display from start to finish.
Finally, after a 14-year absence, the long-languishing franchise is back in the playoffs.
Fittingly, it took until the last game and then some to get there.
Butler scored 31 points http://www.lionsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-tracy-walker-jersey , Karl-Anthony Towns had 26 points and 14 rebounds, and the Timberwolves outlasted the Denver Nuggets 112-106 in overtime Wednesday night in the first final-day play-in game in the NBA in 21 years.
No team in the league had gone longer without a postseason appearance than the Timberwolves, who took Towns with the first overall pick in the 2015 draft and traded for Butler last summer to put themselves in position to return.
”I’ll probably fall asleep tonight and wake up in the middle of the night and start crying,” said Towns, who was 8 years old the last time the Wolves were in the playoffs. ”It’ll hit me, what happened.”
The Nuggets won six in a row to force this elimination game, including a 100-96 decision in Denver last week that was the last time the Wolves (47-35) played without Butler, and went 23-12 over their previous 35 contests.
Nikola Jokic locked in a classic big man battled with Towns, finishing with 35 points and 10 rebounds, but he missed six of his last eight shots after the third quarter as the valiant finish to this season fell just short. The Nuggets (46-36) haven’t made the playoffs in five years.
Now it’s the Timberwolves who are moving on to play, gulp, the NBA-best Houston Rockets.
”I feel like our effort was outstanding. Theirs was too,” said Will Barton, who had 24 points but shot just 3 for 12 after halftime. ”They just made the plays at the end. Give them credit.”
Barton’s 3-pointer beat the shot clock for Denver’s first lead Natrell Jamerson Color Rush Jersey , 104-103, since midway through the first quarter. After Gibson hounded Jokic to force an air-balled 3-point try, Jeff Teague swished a floater with 1:19 left in overtime to put the Wolves back in front for good.
Andrew Wiggins sank two foul shots with 15 seconds remaining to make it 110-106 and finish with 18 points, and the Wolves were finally on their way to a celebration more than a decade in the making. Butler, who has not held back from openly challenging Wiggins and the other junior members of the team to play with more tenacity, walked up to Wiggins before the free throws with some forceful encouragement.
”I was like, `Wiggs, I know you can do this,”’ Butler said. ”And he told me to move. He did. He’s like, `Move!’ I’m like, `OK, excuse me.’ And he stepped up and hit both of them. So, from now on, stay in my lane.”
The Wolves were ahead by as many as 10 points in the second quarter and took a 99-91 lead on Teague’s 3-pointer with 4:26 left in regulation M.J. Stewart Color Rush Jersey , but just like with this whole regular season the Nuggets wouldn’t go away.
Jokic answered with a 3-pointer, and Butler missed both of his free throws. Back-to-back jumpers by Jamal Murray, the last one from 3-point range, tied it. Butler put the Wolves back in front with a 13-footer, but he missed twice more from the floor in the final two minutes. Murray’s off-balance bank tied it at 101, so the Wolves needed Gibson’s defense to save them down the stretch.
He forced Jokic into the baseline for a forced layup that missed badly. Then Gibson stripped the ball from the 7-foot Serbian in the corner to give the Wolves the ball back with 1.6 seconds remaining in regulation. Jamal Crawford’s heave from just inside half court was on line, but it fell short.
”I just took one dribble,” Jokic said, ”and Taj made a really good defensive play.”
PLAY NOW, REST LATER
Gibson played through a sore neck that forced him out of the last game in the first quarter, finishing with eight points in 35 minutes. Butler logged 42 minutes after playing 23 minutes apiece in his previous two games.
”He told me after the shootaround that he’s from Brooklyn,” coach Tom Thibodeau said, ”and he said he’d be fine.”
DRAMATIC FINISH
The game marked only the third time since the NBA’s current 16-team format began in 1984 that two teams met on the last day of the regular season with the winner qualifying for the playoffs and the loser being eliminated. Washington beat Cleveland in 1997 and Denver beat Sacramento in 1995 to claim the final spots.
DIVISION DOMINANCE
With the loss, the Nuggets finished last in the Northwest Division http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-ryan-switzer-jersey , a mere three games out of first. This was the first time in 14 seasons since the NBA realigned into six divisions of five times apiece that the last-place team was less than 11 games behind the leader.
TIP-INS
Nuggets: Jokic posted his seventh 30-point game of the season, three of those in the last six games. … Wilson Chandler went scoreless in 48 minutes. … The Nuggets had 15 turnovers, turning into 24 points for the Wolves.
”You can’t go on the road and beat yourself in the most important game of the season,” coach Mike Malone said.
Timberwolves: Towns finished the season with 68 double-doubles, the most in the NBA. His streak of 246 consecutive games played, every contest of his career, is the longest current run in the league. … This was the 16th sellout crowd for the Wolves, their most since the 1991-92 season.

Stephen Curry backpedaled in pure joy. He skipped http://www.49ersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jeremiah-attaochu-jersey , hollered and let the ball fly from everywhere with that feeling he gets when there’s no way it will miss – unwavering even with a defender’s hand in his face.
Curry dazzled in outdueling LeBron James as the two superstars traded big shots and celebratory moves, hitting an NBA Finals-record nine 3-pointers and scoring 33 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 122-103 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night for 2-0 lead.
”Pretty special night,” Curry said, ”and hopefully some more special things happen and we get two more wins.”
Kevin Durant found his steady stroke to score 26 points to go with nine rebounds and seven assists while also handling a load of the defensive assignment against James. Klay Thompson added 20 points playing on a tender left leg to put the defending champions two wins from a repeat title they have talked about since the season began last fall.
James followed up his 51-point performance in Game 1 with 29 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds in a far tamer finals sequel – and a much more lopsided one – minus the utter craziness of a drama-packed opener three days prior.
Game 3 is Wednesday night in Cleveland.
”We want to continue to be uncomfortable,” James said. ”Just because we’re going home doesn’t mean we can relax.”
Kevin Love had 22 points and 10 boards for the cold-shooting Cavs, who will now try to gain some momentum back home.
Curry had the shot of the night with 7:54 to play, making an off-balance swish from several feet behind the 3-point arc over Love as the shot clock wound down, then scooted backward in delight. Curry fell into the first row of fans with a baseline 3 again over Love and four-point play at the 5:44 mark of the fourth.
”He’s a big shot taker, big shot maker,” Draymond Green said. ”Tough shot taker, tough shot maker.”
The long shot over Love stood out to Curry’s Splash Brother, Thompson.
”About seven seconds on the clock he just kept going backward, I don’t know why, but he just threw it up and I didn’t think it had any chance of going in http://www.redskinsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-pernell-mcphee-jersey ,” Thompson said. ”That was kind of like a dagger shot. It just gave us all the momentum back.”
The two-time MVP made 11 of 26 shots and was 9 for 17 from deep.
James pointed with both hands after his 3 with 11:04 remaining got his team within seven, before Curry answered from deep the next two trips down the floor.
”Those moments when you can come down and answer and keep the momentum on our side, it’s big,” Curry said. ”Keep the crowd into it.”
Curry and James had a tense moment in the third, too.
James became irate at the officials for a no-call on Curry, who ran beneath the Cavs star and didn’t let him land with 3:54 remaining in the quarter as James caught Love’s long pass and went out of bounds. Cavs coach Tyronn Lue was hit with a technical, saying afterward he didn’t say much but was on the court.
JaVale McGee scored 12 points, making all six of his shots in his first career NBA Finals start as Kerr made a lineup switch that proved spot on.
The typically efficient Durant connected on 10 of 14 shots after going just 8 for 22 – 1 of 7 on 3s – in the opener but still scoring 26 points.
Last year’s NBA Finals MVP made his initial five field goals Sunday, driving right at James on offense and doing all he could to fluster him on defense.
James hit a 3 over Durant’s outstretched arm midway through the third, then Tristan Thompson’s basket the next possession pulled the Cavs within 72-66. But they couldn’t contain Curry and the rest of the Warriors for extended stretches.
The Warriors vowed to make it harder for James to generate good looks after he shot 19 for 32 in the series opener, and James went 12:06 of game time between made baskets.
James went 10 for 20, showing few signs his shot was altered by a bloodshot left eye. He had been taking antibiotics and using drops after being poked in the eye by Green in the first half Thursday.
The Warriors earned a wacky 124-114 overtime win in Game 1 Thursday night – featuring J.R. Smith’s blunder when he grabbed an offensive rebound in the waning moments of regulation and dribbled back toward halfcourt rather than shooting for the victory, and an overturned charge call against James.
Smith received rousing cheers from the home fans during pregame introductions and ”M-V-P!” chants greeted him when he went to the foul line.
Thompson played after bruising his lower left leg when Smith slid into him in the first quarter Thursday. The Warriors All-Star has never missed a postseason game.
Kerr went with 7-foot big man McGee to start in place of Kevon Looney – McGee’s 10th career start in the postseason.
McGee scored the first four points as Golden State made its initial seven shots and 10 of 11.
Another key role player, Shaun Livingston, made his five field-goal tries for 10 points to give Golden State a lift in the first half after making all four of his shots Thursday.
”They’re a dangerous ballclub no matter what Pernell McPhee Color Rush Jersey ,” James said. ”It starts with those four guys, those four All-Stars. Everybody else just does their job and they don’t miss a beat when they put someone in or they take someone out.”
TIP-INS
Cavaliers: James’ first-half line: 15 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, two steals. His first points – the first for Cleveland – came on a goaltend by McGee. … Eric Staal was coming off his least productive NHL season since he was a teenage rookie with Carolina when Minnesota took a flier on him two summers ago to add some depth at center.
The three-year contract was modest for a player with Staal’s ability and accomplishments. The expectations were, too. Three consecutive seasons of decline in points per game, after all, don’t provide a hint that the scoring touch or passing knack is primed for resurgence.
Bruce Boudreau could see the rebound potential, though. His first day of training camp with the Wild happened to be Staal’s practice debut with his new club, and a strong impression was made on the new head coach.
”I said, `You know what? Everybody was wrong,”’ Boudreau said. ”Because he did the skate test on the very first day, and he blew everybody out of the water. So I said to the staff, `He should be able to play for us.”’
Staal has done much more for the Wild than simply prove he can keep up and stabilize a key position with some savviness and leadership. Nobody on the team has scored more since he arrived, and with 40 goals this season he’s tied for sixth in the league through Monday’s games.
”I never thought a specific number was a goal. I don’t ever usually think like that http://www.bengalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-billy-price-jersey ,” Staal said. ”Once you start a season, it can go a lot of different ways, but once the puck starts hitting the back of the net and you’re gaining confidence that way, you want to hold on to it as long as you can and accumulate as much as you can to help your team win.”
Staal became just the second player in NHL history, joining Gordie Howe, to record a 40-goal season at least nine years apart with none in between. Slumps can factor into that, but so does dedication.
”Look, he’s won a Stanley Cup. He’s won an Olympic medal. He’s got all the money that he’s ever going to need,” Boudreau said. ”But when he came here he wanted to prove to the world that he’s still a really good player, and to me he has.”
The lanky 33-year-old with the left-handed shot has been a big reason why the Wild, despite some rough patches of the schedule and significant injury absences by several of their best skaters, have clinched a spot in the playoffs for the sixth straight season.
”You want that, especially as a player who’s in the second half of his career. You want to make sure you’re in a spot to try to win again, and coming here I felt gave me that chance,” said Staal Kolton Miller Color Rush Jersey , the second overall pick in the 2003 draft who won the Stanley Cup in 2006 at age 21 but only returned to the playoffs once more with the Hurricanes. ”We’ve still got some work to do here, but hopefully we can finish strong.”
Staal only has one goal-less stretch on his ledger longer than four games in a row, when he played six consecutive contests without scoring from Jan. 9-22. He still contributed four assists over that span. Not coincidentally, the Wild have only one losing streak larger than two. They dropped three in a row from Nov. 4-8.
”He’s a guy we’ve definitely looked to to help lead us,” said left wing Jason Zucker, one of the many linemates Staal has saddled up to this season – without, Boudreau said beamingly, a single complaint.
Durability has been one crucial component of his value, of course. Staal has yet to miss a game since signing the $10.5 million deal on July 1, 2016. The emotional steadiness he has contributed can’t be overlooked, either.
”He’s been through the best of teams. He’s been through the worst of teams. He’s been the leader on all of these teams,” Boudreau said. ”He’s had to make sure he’s the steady one, because if he gets too high, maybe the rest of the group gets too high. If he was one to get too low, maybe everybody else would follow his lead.”
The Wild actually left Staal exposed in the expansion draft Authentic Martin Fehervary Jersey , banking on his age being less attractive to the Vegas Golden Knights. His salary cap hit is only the ninth-highest on the roster.
”If he was playing in Toronto, he’d be up for the MVP,” Boudreau said.
Settling in Minnesota was more than satisfying for Staal, with the perennial postseason opportunities and the relative proximity to his hometown of Thunder Bay, Manitoba, about a six-hour drive away. He and his wife, Tanya, have been able to raise sons Parker, Levi and Finley, in a similar northern culture and climate that he was raised in, delighting in seeing the boys at 8, 6 and 3 years old take to the local hockey rinks or eagerly hop on their sleds after the latest snowfall.
”All that stuff I grew up doing and loving, and now I’m kind of living it back through them,” Staal said. ”It’s definitely made it a ton of fun.”

TORONTO — The Detroit Tigers will start a former Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Saturday afternoon for the second game in a row in another attempt to end a losing streak that has reached 10 games.
Former Blue Jays left-hander Francisco Liriano could not do the job Friday night — allowing three runs in six innings — as the Blue Jays defeated the Tigers 3-2 in the opener of a four-game series at the Rogers Centre.
This time http://www.packersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jaire-alexander-jersey , the former Blue Jay is Matt Boyd (4-6, 4.15 ERA), who will face Toronto right-hander Sam Gaviglio (2-2, 3.98) in the second game of the series.
The Tigers (36-47), who are 13-26 on the road, have lost 10 games in a row for the first time since Sept. 13-22, 2003, the season in which they lost 119 games.
“We had some opportunities, but it’s the same story,” Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. “You pitch really good and you don’t score, or you don’t pitch good enough and it just extends on. The guys are really trying http://www.jaguarsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-dj-chark-jersey , they’re bothered out there and they’re frustrated. They want to win, the guys are really pushing hard in the dugout, but it’s just not happening right now.”
The Tigers have lost 11 of their past 13 games in Toronto.
The Blue Jays (38-43), who were returning from a 3-4 road trip that easily could have been better, have won nine of their past 10 home games. They are 21-20 at home.
Boyd took the loss Sunday at Cleveland when he allowed six runs, eight hits and two walks while striking out five in three innings.
The start Saturday will be his 16th of the season.
In four career starts against the Blue Jays, Boyd is 0-1 with a 4.24 ERA. He did not factor in the decision June 2 against Toronto at Comerica Park when he gave up four runs, six hits and two walks in seven innings. He struck out three.
Boyd, who was sent to the Tigers July 30, 2015, as part of the trade that sent David Price to the Blue Jays Malik Jefferson Color Rush Jersey , is 0-3 with an 8.66 ERA in four career starts at the Rogers Centre.
Gaviglio will be making his 10th appearance and eighth start of the season.
In his past three starts, he is 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA and has pitched only 12 innings.
He has faced the Tigers once in his career, allowing two runs in five innings in a no decision.
The Tigers have been outscored 64-26 during their losing streak.
Before the game Friday, the Blue Jays selected the contract of utility player Darnell Sweeney from Triple-A Buffalo. He was batting .232 with six homers and 21 RBIs in 47 games. He has played all infield positions except first base, both corner outfield positions and also pitched a scoreless inning.
Sweeney takes the roster spot of outfielder Steve Pearce, who was traded Thursday night to the Boston Red Sox for shortstop Santiago Espinal, who will play at Class A Dunedin.
Moving Pearce means that Kendrys Morales will again see regular use as the designated hitter and breaks up a logjam in the outfield. The Blue Jays return to four outfielders with Teoscar Hernandez, Randal Grichuk, Kevin Pillar and Curtis Granderson.
Espinal, 23, batted .313 with seven homers and 32 RBIs in 65 games with Class A Salem in the Red Sox organization.
“Middle-of-the-diamond players Kemoko Turay Color Rush Jersey , you can’t have enough of them,” Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said Friday. “The athleticism, that’s where it all begins. If you can play in the middle, you can often play anywhere else, so that’s first and foremost. (Espinal) is an above-average runner and performing well at a decent level, so there’s plenty to like.”
Chris Paul didn’t want to talk about his postseason failures, not after Houston’s win Tuesday over Utah finally got him into the Western Conference finals.
”For us it was just … they were in the way,” Paul said. ”So we were just trying to get another win.”
His Rockets teammates saw it a little differently. They were eager to talk about Paul’s dominant performance, including a playoff career-high 41 points, in a 112-102 victory in Game 5 that eliminated the Jazz.
”He went out there and took over the game,” James Harden said. ”(To have) an opportunity for him that he’s never had before. He went to go get it. He put us all on his back and said listen: `I got us.”’
Paul made eight 3-pointers and had 10 assists and seven rebounds without a turnover. He’s the first player in playoff history to have at least 40 points and 10 assists without a turnover since turnovers became an official statistic in 1977-78 http://www.falconsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-deadrin-senat-jersey , according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
”The performance that Chris put out there – if he didn’t make it out this time, something’s wrong,” coach Mike D’Antoni said.
It will be Houston’s second trip to the Western Conference finals in four years and the first ever for Paul. The point guard, who is in his 13th NBA season, has been panned for failing to get past the second round in his nine previous trips to the playoffs.
While he wouldn’t talk about finally getting over the second-round hump, he had no problem discussing how much he’s enjoying this season.
”It’s just fun,” he said. ”It’s not about the points or anything like that. It’s about the process.”
Houston will meet Golden State in the conference finals beginning Monday night at home.
Paul is a nine-time All-Star in his first season with Houston after an offseason trade from the Los Angeles Clippers. His previous career-best in the playoffs was 35 points, which he accomplished three times.
Star rookie Donovan Mitchell had 22 of his 24 points for Utah in the third quarter before leaving with about seven minutes left with an apparent left leg injury. The team didn’t provide an update on his condition after the game, but he was wearing a walking boot on his left foot.
”Unhappy with the results, but happy with everybody as a whole,” Mitchell said.
Houston returns to the conference finals for the first time since 2015. It’s the second straight season the Jazz lost in this round after being swept by Golden State last season.
The top-seeded Rockets led by eight points after a 3-pointer by Paul with about six minutes left. The Jazz scored the next seven points Trenton Cannon Color Rush Jersey , highlighted by a 3-pointer from Royce O’Neale, before Paul made eight quick points to push Houston’s lead to 105-96 with about three minutes left.
Joe Ingles made a basket for Utah before Paul added another basket to make it 107-98. The crowd began chanting ”CP3” repeatedly as Paul dribbled down the court on the next possession.
The Jazz were without Ricky Rubio and Dante Exum because of hamstring injuries. Rubio has missed the entire series with his injury, and Exum was injured in the third quarter of Game 5.
P.J. Tucker scored a playoff career-best 19 points, and Harden added 18 points on a night he was ”under the weather,” according to D’Antoni.
Mitchell’s huge third quarter left the Jazz up by 3 to begin the fourth. Derrick Favors made a layup for Utah to start the final quarter before Paul and Tucker hit consecutive 3-pointers to put Houston back on top 81-80 with about 10 minutes left.
Utah regained the lead on a basket by O’Neale before Houston used an 11-5 spurt, with the first five points from Gerald Green, to take a 92-87 lead with about seven minutes left. Harden capped the run with a dunk after stealing the ball from Mitchell. Mitchell was injured on that play and grabbed his left leg. He had to be helped to the bench and was quickly taken to the locker room with the help of two people.
TIP-INS
Jazz: Alec Burks scored 22 points off the bench. … Rudy Gobert finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. … Mitchell finished 9 of 17 on field goals. … O’Neale had 17 points.
Rockets: Houston made 18 3-pointers to give the team 10 or more 3-pointers in an NBA playoff-record 16 straight games. … Clint Capela finished with five blocks. … The Rockets had 10 steals on Tuesday for their fourth game in the series with 10 or more.
THEY SAID IT
Mitchell on what coach Quin Snyder’s message was to the team after the loss: ”I was so upset I wasn’t listening. I’m not going to lie to you.”
WHAT A PRESENT
D’Antoni turned 67 on Tuesday and said this game was the best present he’s ever received.
”Without a doubt,” he said. ”Especially at this age.”

Guy Boucher will be back behind the Ottawa Senators bench next season http://www.cowboysauthorizedshops.com/authentic-leighton-vander-esch-jersey , and so will his entire staff.
Speaking on an Ottawa sports radio station, Senators general manager Pierre Dorion confirmed that Boucher and his assistants will return despite the club’s second-to-last place finish in 2017-18.
Dorion said Boucher would run the power play, while assistants Rob Cookson and Marc Crawford will join Boucher behind the bench.
Boucher’s future was in doubt after the Senators struggled to a 28-43-11 record last season, one year removed from making the Eastern Conference final.
Special teams were a particular concern for the Senators. Ottawa finished 27th in the 31-team league with a power play that converted on just 16.6 percent of chances, and the penalty-kill rate of 76.2 percent was 26th.
With the coaching situation stabilized, the Senators can turn their attention toward trying to sign captain Erik Karlsson to an extension.
The superstar defenseman becomes an unrestricted free agent after next season.

The Tigers knew exactly what hit them – the daunting combination of a homer-friendly park and a free-swinging Reds offense starting to come around.
Scooter Gennett hit a tying two-run homer http://www.jaguarsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-tanner-lee-jersey , and Eugenio Suarez also connected on the next pitch – a hit originally ruled a double but changed to a homer on review – for a 5-3 victory and a two-game sweep on Wednesday.
The Reds moved ahead in the all-time series 13-11, with two games left at Comerica Park starting July 31.
After managing only a pair of singles through the first five innings, the Reds finally got to Michael Fulmer (3-6). Gennett connected with two outs for his 13th homer, tying it 2-2.
”The way we’re playing right now is how we expected to play all year,” Gennett said. ”It’s a lot of fun.”
Fulmer threw Gennett a slider that was headed for the dirt on a 1-2 count, only to see it sail out to right field aided by the wind.
”I thought it was a great pitch http://www.texansauthorizedshops.com/authentic-martinas-rankin-jersey ,” Fulmer said. ”I’m mad at the results, but I’m not mad at the way I pitched.”
Suarez hit Fulmer’s next pitch to left field, with the ball landing on the top of the wall and bouncing back into play. The Reds sounded their home run siren and shot off fireworks, but the umpires ruled the ball was in play and stopped Suarez at second base.
After a review of 1 minute, 12 seconds, the hit was ruled a homer – replays indicated the ball skipped off the top of the wall and deflected off a railing behind it.
Adam Duvall added a solo shot in the eighth as the Reds out-homered the Tigers 3-2.
”That’s the way it is here Cheap Saquon Barkley Jersey ,” manager Ron Gardenhire said.
Tyler Mahle (6-6) overcame a pair of solo homers to remain unbeaten in four June starts. The rookie has allowed a total of four earned runs while going 3-0 in the month. He struck out eight in six innings of his team-high sixth quality start.
”I was more lucky than good today,” Mahle said . ”If I had to give myself a grade today, it would be a `D.”’
Raisel Iglesias gave up a hit in the ninth while earning his 11th save in 13 chances.
INTERLEAGUE
The Reds improved to 6-1 in interleague games. They’ve won five straight against the AL, tying their best all-time mark. The Tigers fell to 1-7.
SWING AND A MISS
Fulmer has little hitting experience in the majors, and it hurt the Tigers in the sixth. With runners on second and third and two outs, the Reds intentionally walked Dixon Machado to bring up Fulmer. He struck out on three pitches Saquon Barkley Giants Jersey , the last one a high 94 mph fastball. Fulmer is 0 for 9 with six strikeouts for his career.
Gardenhire said that’s the big advantage for the NL, where pitchers take batting practice regularly.
”There’s your unfair advantage,” he said.
HARDY APPEARANCE
Left-hander Blaine Hardy relieved in the seventh and gave up a pair of hits and a walk. Hardy has been a fill-in starter for the Tigers’ depleted rotation and pitched into the sixth inning Sunday for a 3-1 win over the White Sox.
VOTTO HONORED
Joey Votto received his 2017 Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s Athlete of the Year, the second time he’s won it. Ferguson Jenkins and Larry Walker are the other baseball players to win it.
TRAINER’S ROOM
Tigers: Right-handed reliever Drew VerHagen was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a broken nose suffered Tuesday night when he was hit by a thrown ball while covering first base. Right-handed reliever Johnny Barbato was called up from Triple-A Toledo. He gave up Duvall’s homer in the eighth.
Reds: Manager Jim Riggleman and the training staff are developing a rehab plan for starter Homer Bailey, who has been sidelined since June 2 with a sore right knee. He’s 1-7 with a 6.68 ERA.
UP NEXT
Tigers: After a day off, the Tigers start a weekend series in Cleveland Ito Smith Color Rush Jersey , where they’ve lost 20 of their past 26 games, including their past seven. Mike Fiers (5-3) is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in two starts at Progressive Field.
Reds: Matt Harvey (1-5) makes his eighth start for the Reds, who open a four-game series against the Cubs at Great American Ball Park. Harvey has lost his past three decisions for the Reds, who got him from the Mets in a trade for catcher Devin Mesoraco on May 8.

Alex Lyon of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms was up early as usual Thursday to take a walk and stop for a breakfast sandwich and his morning coffee.
The 25-year-old goalie was no worse for the wear a little over seven hours after he finished a 94-save performance in an American Hockey League playoff game in North Carolina that stretched to seven periods and 146 minutes http://www.falconsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-justin-bethel-jersey , 48 seconds of play.
”This morning I’m feeling happy, obviously,” he said. ”The saves aren’t as big a deal to me as us getting the win. To win after basically playing 2 games is such an emotional … oh, a relief. The human body wasn’t meant to do that.”
The Philadelphia Flyers‘ top farm club beat the host Charlotte Checkers 2-1 when Alex Krushelnyski scored 6:48 into the fifth overtime. The game began shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday and ended at 1:09 a.m. Thursday, making it the longest game in the AHL’s 82-year history.
Lyon, surprisingly, did not set a record. The AHL mark for most saves in a game belongs to Michael Leighton, who stopped 98 shots for the Albany River Rats in a 3-2, five-overtime loss to the Phantoms on April 24, 2008.
”Someone rubbed that in my face,” Lyon said Authentic Saquon Barkley Jersey , laughing. ”You think you’re in the record book, and you’re not.”
The NHL record for saves is 92 by the Detroit Red Wings‘ Normie Smith in a 1-0 playoff win over the Montreal Maroons in 1936.
Lyon, who started seven games and appeared in 11 for the Flyers this season, stopped the last 79 shots while shutting out Charlotte over the final 119:56. Charlotte outshot Lehigh Valley 95-53, including 54-29 in the overtime periods.
Lyon lost count of how many water bottles he went through; normally he drinks at least eight in a regulation game. To keep their energy up, Lyon and his teammates drank Coke and ate cookies, brownies, fig bars and bread slices during the overtime intermissions.
He went through a range of emotions. At times he savored the atmosphere, especially the fast pace of regulation and the early part of the first overtime. But the game slowed, and he acknowledged getting irrationally frustrated as his teammates struggled to score. He also fought boredom.
”You’re standing in the crease for so long,” he said Vinny Curry Color Rush Jersey , ”and you’re seeing the same thing over and over again. It really blends together.”
Lyon said his 94-save feat shouldn’t overshadow the work of his teammates.
”I wish I could act like the warrior in this situation, but we had one of our defensemen go down with a knee injury halfway through the first period,” he said. ”So we were playing with five defensemen (instead of six), which is totally mind-blowing to me.
“At least I can try to recover and take a knee when the puck’s down at the other end. Sometimes you go through four or five minutes of a lull where you’re standing around. Five defensemen? It doesn’t seem like a big deal to maybe a common fan. I’m sure you know it’s so much more ice time, just so much more, so that was really impressive.”
The Phantoms lead the Atlantic Division best-of-seven finals 3-1 over the Carolina Hurricanes‘ affiliate and, because of their five-overtime win, can wrap up the series Saturday.
”You put in so much effort and so much work,” Lyons said, ”that it’s nice to come out with something to show for it.”
The Washington Capitals can now turn their attention to the Pittsburgh Penguins and avenging some playoff disappointments.
The Capitals won four straight games over the Columbus Blue Jackets after fumbling the first two in overtime at home, capping their opening-round playoff series with a 6-3 victory Monday night in Game 6.
Alex Ovechkin scored twice Clint Frazier New York Yankees Jersey , including his 50th playoff goal, and Braden Holtby had 35 saves to lift the Capitals, who never trailed after winning in overtime in Game 5 on Saturday. After Ovechkin’s second-period goals, Washington never relinquished a two-goal lead. Four of the games in the series went to overtime.
The Capitals will again move onto the conference semifinals after being eliminated by Pittsburgh in the second round in each of the past two seasons.
”I think we accomplished what we believed we could at the beginning of the series,” said Holtby, who relieved a struggling Philipp Grubauer in Game 2 and was great the rest of the way. ”We’ll enjoy it a bit, rest up and prepare for the next one.”
Washington coach Barry Trotz didn’t want to talk about Pittsburgh yet.
”Please let me breathe,” he said. ”We haven’t taken a breath since this started.”
Chandler Stephenson had a goal and an assist, and Dimitry Orlov, Devante Smith-Pelly and Lars Eller also tallied Monday for Washington, which never trailed in the game after prevailing in extra time in Game 5 on Saturday. The Capitals won each of the three games in Columbus.
”I do know on the road it seems like for whatever reason we’re focused Rashaan Gaulden Color Rush Jersey , we’re driven,” Washington forward T.J. Oshie said. ”It seems like we almost like it when an opposing team’s crowd gets into it. It almost gets us going, too, and makes you want to quiet them down.”
The story for the Blue Jackets in the four-game stretch was their power-play futility. After going 4 for 8 with a man advantage in the first two games, the Blue Jackets were 0 for 16 in the last four.
”Beginning of the series, our power play was going,” said Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno, who scored twice Monday. ”We were scoring at will. For whatever reason, it dried out. We’ve got to figure that out.”
Pierre-Luc Dubois also scored and Sergei Bobrovsky finished with 22 saves for the Blue Jackets, who lost in the first round of the playoffs for the second consecutive season and fourth time overall. They remain the only active NHL franchise never to win a playoff series.
The Capitals struck first again Monday night.
Shortly after Holtby held off a Columbus barrage, Orlov got his first goal of the series when he skated into the slot and rifled a slap shot over Bobrovsky’s glove side with 7:48 left in the first.
Foligno got his first of the playoffs halfway through the second when he snapped a shot past Holtby from the right circle. That came soon after the Blue Jackets survived overlapping penalties Jordan Akins Color Rush Jersey , including 32 seconds of a 5-on-3.
Ovechkin put back a rebound of a shot by Brooks Orpik to make it 2-1 with 7:10 left in the second, the 50th playoff goal of the Russian star’s career. He then gave the Caps a two-goal lead with a one-timer from the left circle on a power play.
The Blue Jackets tightened it to 3-2 early in the third when Dubois connected. But Smith-Pelly increased the Capitals’ lead again 91 seconds later. Stevenson got a short-handed goal 1 1/2 minutes later to pad it.
Foligno got the Blue Jackets to 5-3 at 8:22 in the third, but Columbus couldn’t get closer. Eller added an empty-net goal with 14 seconds left.
”It was a war out there,” Trotz said. ”It was a really strong series by them, and it forced us to the limit for sure.”
NOTES: Washington is the first team in NHL history to win a playoff series after losing each of the first two games at home in overtime. … Washington again kept the Blue Jackets’ best player Artemi Panarin off the score sheet after he had two goals and five assists in the first three playoff games… The Blue Jackets are 2-8 at home in four postseason appearances. … Ovechkin had five goals in the playoff series.

LeBron James sprung to his feet and screamed along with thousands of delirious Cleveland fans.
When Indians outfielder Rajai Davis connected off Chicago Cubs reliever Aroldis Chapman for a tying home run in the eighth inning of Game 7 of the 2016 World Series http://www.buccaneersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-carlton-davis-jersey , James came unglued and reacted the way he might after a monstrous dunk or back-breaking 3-pointer in the NBA Finals.
And while his fanatical response said a lot about James and his allegiance to the Indians, so did the tight, black T-shirt he wore on that unseasonably warm November night.
It said: ”Cleveland Or Nowhere.”
As the sports world waits to see where the three-time champion intends to play next season and beyond, there remains the real possibility that James could choose to stay in Cleveland, his hoops home for 11 of the past 15 years and where this Northeast Ohio son shares a unique and profound connection with fans who have followed him since his teens.
James has other options: Los Angeles (salary-cap space for another star, Magic Johnson in charge), Houston (a chance to play on a super team with MVP James Harden), Philadelphia (young stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid), and maybe more.
But, as has always been the case for James, home will pull at his heart.
For the longest time Gleyber Torres New York Yankees Jersey , the perception was that once James ended Cleveland’s 52-year title drought in 2016, he would leave again as soon as he could. That doesn’t seem to be a slam dunk any longer.
By Friday, James is expected to make his first move and likely decline a $35.6 million contract option for next season with the Cavs, who are hoping their past loyalties to the 33-year-old and his own sentimental attachments – family, legacy – will keep him in Cleveland.
Unlike his free-agency forays in 2010 and 2014, James will not meet with prospective teams. He’s letting agent Rich Paul and his other representatives handle the business side of things as he vacations with family and makes up his mind.
Months ago, James’ connection with the Cavs seemed broken, hopeless. Last summer’s shocking trade of All-Star Kyrie Irving, the team’s failed attempt to integrate guard Isaiah Thomas, a lack of playmakers, assorted injuries and coach Tyronn Lue’s medical issues contributed to James appearing ready to pull up stakes again and pursue championships elsewhere.
But a funny thing happened on the way to the NBA Finals.
James was boosted by general manager Koby Altman’s drastic-and-dramatic roster overhaul at the trading deadline http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-p.j.-hall-jersey , and despite a lack of cohesion and Vegas odds makers labeling the Cavs as underdogs, Cleveland advanced to a fourth straight summer showdown with Golden State, surviving two Game 7s and sweeping the top-seeded Toronto Raptors along the way.
Of course, James did all the heavy lifting. He played in all 82 regular-season games and had perhaps his best postseason, averaging 34 points, 9.1 rebounds and 9.0 assists while making a pair of buzzer-beating shots and doing all he could in a Finals sweep that could have been much different if Cleveland had not lost Game 1 in overtime.
”He gave his heart and soul, die-hard energy, commitment to this team, to this franchise, to the city, to Northeast Ohio Authentic Isac Lundestrom Jersey ,” Altman said last week after the Cavs drafted Alabama guard Collin Sexton, who quickly raised some eyebrows by choosing to wear No. 2, Irving’s number for six seasons with Cleveland. ”It was an historical year and probably one of the best postseason runs of all time. We’re very, very fortunate to have him here and what he gave to this franchise this year was nothing short of remarkable.
”We don’t take that for granted at all.”
And it’s why the Cavs haven’t surrendered from the fight to keep him.
Owner Dan Gilbert, whose relationship with James remains tricky if not rocky, has displayed a willingness to spend whatever’s necessary to keep his team championship competitive. That’s unlikely to change whether James extends his second stint with Cleveland.
In a recent Business Insider podcast, Gilbert referred to James as a ”partner,” an acknowledgment by the billionaire to what the superstar he once criticized means to his franchise.
The appeal for James to stay home is different now than it was eight years ago when he bolted for Miami. He’s more mature, with three children and a burgeoning business empire. His priorities, responsibilities and goals are different.
After the Warriors finished their Finals sweep of the Cavs, James revealed an injured right hand but an unchanged view of the next phase of his career.
”I will still continue to be in championship mode Brian Allen Color Rush Jersey ,” he said. ”When I decide what I’m going to do with my future, my family and the folks that have been with me for the last 20 years will have a say-so. Then it ultimately will come down to me.”

Yu Darvish plans to throw a bullpen Thursday in his next step toward rejoining the Chicago Cubs‘ rotation.
Darvish played catch Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, a day after he rejoined the team following a five-inning, 57-pitch rehab start with Class A South Bend on Monday.
The Japanese right-hander has been on the disabled list since May 26 because of tendinitis in his right triceps.
”I don’t feel too bad today,” Darvish said through a translator. ”I wasn’t 100 percent on Monday and it’s just part of my rehab process. In terms of strength and endurance, I’m fine.”
Darvish is back at Dodger Stadium for the first time since his awful outing for Los Angeles in Game 7 of the World Series last year. He allowed five runs and got only five outs as the Houston Astros clinched in front of the L.A. fans. He was equally ineffective in losing Game 3, giving up four runs in 1 2/3 innings.
Darvish, who joined the Dodgers at the July 31 trade deadline, said the move from Texas revived his passion for the game. Before the trade, he had told his wife that he might retire when his contract with the Rangers ended.
”Joining the Dodgers, I had a chance to find myself and be around a very supportive group of people. Baseball was really fun with the Dodgers Zach Davies Milwaukee Brewers Jersey ,” Darvish said. ”The Dodgers really took care of me.”
Darvish became a free agent after the World Series and although he wanted to stay with the Dodgers, he ended up signing a $126 million, six-year contract with the Cubs.
But he has yet to produce the kind of results that demanding Cubs fans expect. Darvish has a 4.95 ERA in eight starts and has been on the disabled list twice.
”I want to contribute to the team a lot more and to winning in general,” he said. ”Rather than what I want, it’s more about what my body feels.”

Hey James Paxton Seattle Mariners Jersey , here’s something we haven’t heard before.
The NBA playoffs are wide open.
At perhaps no other time in the league’s history have so many teams gone into the postseason with a real shot at hoisting the trophy at the end of this two-month grind.
From the top seeds in Houston and Toronto, to the old stalwarts in Golden State and Cleveland, to the brash up-and-comers in Philadelphia and Minnesota, there are potential storylines galore and no real way to predict how it all may shake out.
”We’ve got a chance,” said LeBron James, who will be seeking his eighth straight trip to the finals. ”That’s all you can ask for.”
For pretty much the NBA’s entire history, there’s been little reason to tune in for the playoffs until they got to the finals. No wonder Charles Barkley became so enamored with the NHL version of the postseason – that’s a sport that actually doles out some real drama once the regular season is over.
The NBA?
Yawn.
Over the last four decades, a top-seeded team has claimed 28 championships. All but one of the remaining titles went to teams seeded second or third going into the postseason – and even several of those were clearly the best team (see: the 2012 Miami Heat with their Big Three of James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh; the 2001 and 2002 Los Angeles Lakers featuring Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal; the 1993 Chicago Bulls claiming their third straight title led by Michael Jordan).
Looking a little deeper over that same 40-year span, and you’ll find only five teams lower than a No. 3 seed that lost in the finals. Such dominance by a handful of dynasties and superteams has largely rendered the early rounds of the playoffs a moot point, a mere coronation on the way to the inevitable matchup at the end.
This year, it makes sense to tune in right from the start.
At the risk of getting things totally wrong, here’s a few predictions for these most uncertain of playoffs:
ROCKETS‘ TOUGH ROAD
Houston posted the league’s best record (65-17), and it’s hard to bet against a team that has James Harden. But the Rockets are facing a tough opening-round series against Minnesota, which broke a 14-year playoff drought with a dramatic overtime victory on the final day of the regular season . If the Timberwolves can ride that momentum – and it’s entirely possible, with Jimmy Butler coming back from a knee injury – they could make things real interesting. The Rockets will be without a valuable rotation player http://www.jetsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-thomas-rawls-jersey , Luc Mbah a Moute , who sustained a shoulder injury this week in a meaningless game. Assuming they get past Minnesota, the Rockets could be derailed in the second round by the Oklahoma City Thunder, a perplexing squad that has pretty much spent all season trying to figure out how to mesh the immense talents of Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. They seemed to figure it out late in year, winning 11 of their last 16 games – with the five losses by a total of 13 points. The Thunder could be the surprise team that emerges from the loaded West.
DEFENDING CHAMPS
The Golden State Warriors have been to the finals three years in a row, winning titles in both 2015 and last season, and they certainly have the talent to make it back despite a less-than-dominating regular season that prompted coach Steve Kerr at one point to call out their effort as “pathetic.” Steph Curry will probably miss the opening round with a knee injury, but the Warriors should get by a fading San Antonio Spurs squad that will likely be without ailing Kawhi Leonard for the entire series. Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson give the defending champs plenty of firepower, even without Curry. The Warriors should at least make it back to the conference final, where chances are either the Rockets or OKC will be waiting.
PHILLY’S MOMENTUM
There is no more intriguing team than the Philadelphia 76ers, who just two seasons ago went 10-72. This year, they became the first team in NBA history to close the regular season on a 16-game winning streak, surging to the No. 3 seed in the East . If Joel Embiid comes back faster than expected from a fractured orbital bone, Philadelphia could do some real damage in the East. Look for the Sixers to beat the Heat in the opening round Authentic Saquon Barkley Jersey , leading to what could be a very favorable matchup against the injury ravaged Boston Celtics in Round 2. The 76ers should be a year or two away from being a real championship contender. Then again, look what’s happened in Philly: The Eagles won their first Super Bowl championship and Villanova claimed the national title in college hoops. Maybe the precocious 76ers will follow their lead, far sooner than anyone could’ve predicted.
DON’T FORGET THE KING
James has been to the finals seven years in a row – four times with the Heat, three more since returning to Cleveland. The Cavaliers are only a No. 4 seed after enduring a season of dysfunction, but the King is ready to take this team on his back. At 33, James has been as dominant as ever , and he has a way of flipping the switch to an even higher level in the playoffs. He’s still the guy you start with if building a championship-ready roster.
Who knows?
Maybe we’ll get a Cavaliers-Warriors final for the fourth year in a row.
At least it would be a bit of a surprise this time.

Paul Newberry is a sports columnist for The Associated Press. Write to him at pnewberry(at)ap.org or at LeBron James knows the path to the NBA Finals better than anyone in today’s game.
And unless the Boston Celtics do something soon, he’ll get there again.
James bullied his way to 44 points, surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar atop a postseason list and helped the Cleveland Cavaliers even the Eastern Conference finals at 2-2 on Monday night with a 111-102 victory over the Celtics, who are looking forward to getting home before their adoring fans.
Pushed by a raucous crowd that wasn’t so confident a few days ago, the Cavs held off Boston’s comeback in the fourth quarter and squared a tight series that is now a best-of-three.
Cleveland is trying to become the 20th team – out of 300 – to overcome a 2-0 deficit and James, who has already orchestrated two such rallies and is seeking his eighth straight finals, is a step closer to a third.
To do it again the Cavs will have to win in Boston, where the Celtics are 9-0 this postseason.
”We know it’s going to be a hostile environment,” James said. ”We know their fans are going to be very energetic. But we have to just have our same mindset we had when we came home for these two games. If our minds are there, we put ourselves in a position to be victorious.”
Game 5 is Wednesday night at TD Garden http://www.buccaneersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-m.j.-stewart-jersey , and Celtics coach Brad Stevens is trying to stay positive with a team that has given up a 2-0 lead and fell to 1-6 on the road in these playoffs.
”It’s the best two out of three to go to the NBA Finals. Doesn’t get better than that,” he said. ”Ultimately, anybody that didn’t think this was going to be tough, I mean, everything is tough. In this deal, it’s a blast to have to grit your teeth, get up off the mat and go after it again.”
Kyle Korver added 14 points and Cleveland’s sharp-shooting 37-year-old added three block and several hustle plays, outrunning three Celtics in one sequence and diving for a loose ball.
“I’ve loved Kyle ever since we made the trade to get him here” James said. ”I don’t remember Kyle falling too much like that. I’ve got to keep his body as fresh as possible. But listen, he’s doing whatever it takes to try to help us win, with the blocks, with the strips. Obviously his shot making is very key for our team as well, but it’s just the intangibles he’s doing for us defensively.”
Tristan Thompson had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Cavs, who won despite 19 turnovers and two assists in the second half. Kevin Love had just nine points on 3-of-12 shooting and was in foul trouble, but he made a big 3-pointer and follow shot in the fourth quarter.
Jaylen Brown scored 25 and Boston had all five scorers in double figures, but the Celtics fell behind by 19 in the first half and didn’t have enough to catch Cleveland.
And, of course http://www.chiefsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-dorian-o_daniel-jersey , they didn’t have James, who moved past Abdul-Jabbar (2,356) for the most field goals in playoff history. James also recorded his 25th career postseason game with at least 40 points – his sixth in this postseason.
The Celtics hung around in the second half and pulled within 100-93 on Marcus Smart’s basket with 4:29 left. But Thompson got free for a dunk, and after a miss by Boston, James recovered after making his seventh turnover by making a steal and layup.
Moments later, James drilled a 3-pointer from the left wing to finally put away the young Celtics, who will now feel the immense pressure of trying to hold off the three-time champion.
”He’s the best in the game at evaluating the court and figuring out what he wants and where he wants it,” Stevens said. ”The thing about it is that you just have to battle. You just have to make it as hard as possible, because he’s going to find a matchup that he ultimately wants.”
Stevens considered changing his starting lineup, but decided to stick with the same first five – Brown, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Morris, Al Horford, and Terry Rozier – as the first three games.
Boston’s starters held their own, but none of them was able to match James when it mattered most.
”You hope he misses, that’s about it Mark Andrews Color Rush Jersey ,” Rozier said. ”He’s a big body and you’ve just got to keep him in front, and hope he misses.”
TIP-INS
Celtics: Stevens was evasive about his starting lineup during his pregame news conference, not wanting to give the Cavs any advance notice. ”We will start five people. I promise,” he said, drawing laughs from media members. … Injured stars Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving are not traveling with the team so they can continue their respective rehabs. Both have been sitting on the bench with their teammates in Boston.
Cavaliers: Won their seventh straight playoff game at home. … Love threw one of his patented ”touchdown” passes in the first quarter to James, who outmaneuvered Smart and Brown like a wide receiver to make the catch and score. … Browns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield, the No. 1 pick in last month’s NFL draft, attended the game. … Improved to 9-3 vs. Boston in the playoffs at Quicken Loans Arena.
AMONGST GIANTS
James seems to reach a milestone every game and he was honored to pass Abdul-Jabbar’s mark.
”To know where I come from, small city 35 miles south of here, and to hear I’m in the same category or talked about and jumping these greats in the playoffs – it’s pretty cool,” he said. ”You hear the scoring, the field goals made, and for a kid that really doesn’t care much about scoring.”
OLD MAN KORVER
Frozen .
Mark Scheifele scored the only goal in a shootout and the Winnipeg Jets clinched a playoff spot with a 5-4 win over the Nashville Predators on Sunday night.
The Jets are in the postseason for the first time since 2014-15 and just the second time since their relocation from Atlanta before the 2011-12 season. The franchise hasn’t won a playoff series since 2007.
Jets rookie Kyle Connor scored a power-play goal and had two assists Boone Logan Milwaukee Brewers Jersey , giving him seven goals in six games. That includes a pair of overtime goals in Winnipeg’s previous two games and gives him 29 on the season. That’s tied with Vancouver’s Brock Boeser for the rookie goal scoring lead. Boeser’s season ended March 5 with a fracture in his lower back.
Dustin Byfuglien also scored on the power play, and Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler each added a goal and an assist for Winnipeg.
Kyle Turris, Ryan Ellis, and Viktor Arvidsson each had a goal and an assist, and Roman Josi also scored for the Predators.
PENGUINS 5, FLYERS 4, OT
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Bryan Rust redirected a pass from Sidney Crosby 2:25 into overtime and Pittsburgh finished off a season sweep of Philadelphia.
The Flyers tied it on Sean Couturier’s goal with 43 seconds left in regulation, but the Penguins controlled the extra period. Rust ended it when he got his stick down in time to get a piece of Crosby’s pass from the top of the left circle and knock it by Petr Mrazek to give the Penguins their first sweep of Philadelphia since the 2006-07 season.
Crosby’s spectacular goal 17 seconds into the third period gave Pittsburgh a 4-3 advantage. Crosby held off Couturier high in the zone, skated to the left dot and ripped a wrist shot over Philadelphia defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere and Mrazek’s glove. Couturier exacted a bit of revenge when he knotted it late to assure the Flyers of at least a point.
Still, the Penguins pulled within three points of first-place Washington in the Metropolitan Division and moved two points clear of Philadelphia, which pulled into a third-place tie with Columbus.
BRUINS 2, WILD 1, OT
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Brad Marchand scored 28 seconds into overtime to lift Boston over Minnesota.
Tuukka Rask made 24 saves and David Pastrnak also scored for the Bruins Natrell Jamerson Color Rush Jersey , who improved to 47-17-10.
Marchand got his second goal in two games and his third in a four-game span. His 33rd of the season was his eighth game-winner, tying a career high. Marchand also assisted on the first goal.
Minnesota has earned a point in five straight games. Alex Stalock got the start in net after Devan Dubnyk started Saturday’s win against Nashville. Stalock made 26 saves.
CANUCKS 4, STARS 1
DALLAS (AP) – Reid Boucher and Nic Dowd scored rare goals on the power play, and Vancouver rallied to beat reeling Dallas.
Dallas’ Mattias Janmark started the scoring with a short-handed goal in the first period, but Boucher tied it on the same man advantage. It was Boucher’s third goal this season, all coming over two games in Dallas.
Jake Virtanen added a third-period goal and Tyler Motte scored into an empty net for Vancouver, which won for only the second time in 10 games.
The Stars are on an 0-6-2 skid and have all but fallen out of playoff contention.
DUCKS 5, OILERS 4, OT
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) – Hampus Lindholm scored 1:21 into overtime to lift the Anaheim Ducks over the Edmonton Oilers.
Adam Henrique had two goals and Josh Manson and Corey Perry also scored for the Ducks, who are on a 5-0-1 streak.
Connor McDavid, Ty Rattie, Leon Draisaitl and Ethan Bear scored for the Oilers, who ended a three-game winning streak.
Anaheim has 91 points and is two up on the Los Angeles Kings (89) for third in the Pacific Division.

The first taste of the NBA playoffs for Timberwolves All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns has been rather bitter Youth Sam Darnold Jersey , thanks to the 3-point-happy Houston Rockets.
The two-game totals tell a frustrating story for the 22-year-old: just 13 points, 5 for 18 shooting and a 2-0 deficit in the series against the Rockets. Towns has found himself the subject of pointed criticism from analysts, fans and even his own team.
The switch-heavy Rockets have double-teamed Towns to a stifling effect, and the Timberwolves sure haven’t helped their 7-footer out by getting him the ball in favorable situations in the post.
”They’re coming to double. He knows that. He has to face up, be strong with the ball, make quick moves,” point guard Jeff Teague said. ”But we have to figure out how to get him running, get him some easy buckets.”
The team’s struggles have taken a little luster off Minnesota’s first postseason home game in 14 years, but the fans who remember the Timberwolves reaching the Western Conference finals in 2004 will surely be eager to witness the playoffs in person no matter the daunting challenge in this first round.
”This organization, all of our fans, they deserve this moment,” Towns said.
And they want a win.
The Timberwolves host the Rockets on Saturday night in Game 3. Earlier in the day, Miami takes on Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference and New Orleans hosts Portland, both in Game 4. Later JK Scott Color Rush Jersey , Utah visits Oklahoma City in Game 3.
Towns tried his best to shrug off the bad vibes and stinging rebukes when speaking with reporters on Friday.
”You dwell too much on the past, you forget that you’ve got to take care of the present,” Towns said.
The chatter on TV and Twitter, he said, has escaped him.
”I live my life very Amish-like,” Towns said. ”Other than video games, I don’t think I have a reason for electronics. It’s a life that I’ve always loved.”

76ERS AT HEAT
76ers lead 2-1. Game 4, 2:30 p.m. EDT, TNT
NEED TO KNOW: It’s simple: The team that has imposed its will is 3-0 in this series. Philadelphia took the pace where it wanted it in Games 1 and 3. Miami out-toughed the 76ers in Game 2. The Heat have to find a way to keep Philadelphia’s 3-point shooting in check; the 76ers made 18 shots from beyond the arc in Game 3. Joel Embiid is back from a concussion and a broken bone around his eye, and an already-confident Philadelphia bunch seems to have even more swagger now.
KEEP AN EYE ON: 76ers guard Marco Belinelli. The 76ers are 25-6 when he plays and 14-1 when he scores at least 15 points. In this series, he’s 13 for 27 on shots from 20 feet and deeper, and many of those makes have been daggers for Miami.
PRESSURE IS ON: Heat center Hassan Whiteside . Backups Kelly Olynyk and Bam Adebayo have played a combined 145 minutes in this series, while Whiteside has played only 41, with 11 points Rich Hill Los Angeles Dodgers Jersey , nine fouls, seven turnovers and three field goals in the three games. There’s no room for error now for Miami, so either Whiteside will figure it out fast in Game 4 or the Heat will get someone else into his spot.
HISTORY LESSON: This is the fourth time in Dwyane Wade’s career that the Heat have trailed an Eastern Conference opponent 2-1. In the three previous Game 4s in that scenario, Miami has won all three with Wade averaging 26.7 points in those second-round games against Indiana (2004 and 2012) and Toronto (2016).

TRAIL BLAZERS AT PELICANS
Pelicans lead 3-0. Game 4, 5 p.m. EDT, TNT.
NEED TO KNOW: The sixth-seeded Pelicans are on the cusp of a surprising sweep of the third-seeded Blazers, and their margin of victory has grown in each game. They dominated Game 3, leading by as many as 20 points in the first half and 33 in the second. Veteran guard Rajon Rondo has masterfully run the offense, and the Pelicans have played unselfishly with a different scoring leader in each game: Anthony Davis with 35 in Game 1, Jrue Holiday with 33 in Game 2 and Nikola Mirotic with 30 in Game 3.
KEEP AN EYE ON: Portland’s body language, intensity and aggressiveness. Guard Damian Lillard challenged the Blazers to ramp up those aspects of their game, stressing that the Pelicans were ”a lot more aggressive than we were and we didn’t dish it back out. I think in the playoffs and in a situation like this, when a team is coming for you like that, you’ve got to maybe go out of your way to do it back http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-tremaine-edmunds-jersey , even if that means foul trouble or some altercations happen out there.”
PRESSURE IS ON: Lillard. The Pelicans have sold out to stop the Portland star, who missed nine of 14 shots in Game 3. ”It’s either going to be a tough shot, or I’ve got to give the ball up,” Lillard said. ”I’ve got to trust making the right play, and when it comes time I’ve got to take my chances and I’ve got to take those tough shots.”
INJURY UPDATE: Blazers starting forward Evan Turner missed Game 3 because of a toe injury in Game 2. The team did not update his status on Friday.

ROCKETS AT TIMBERWOLVES
Rockets lead 2-0. Game 3, 7:30 p.m. EDT, ESPN.
NEED TO KNOW: The Rockets cruised to a 20-point victory in Game 2 despite only 12 points on a staggering 2-for-18 shooting performance by James Harden. After squandering their chance to steal Game 1 on the road in a three-point loss, the Wolves are back home in a big hole against the team with the best record in the NBA. They’ll need a big boost from a home crowd celebrating the team’s return to the postseason to send the series back to Houston for a Game 5.
KEEP AN EYE ON: Ger.
The Pittsburgh Penguins battled back to force overtime and picked up a win over the Columbus Blue Jackets Alex Cappa Color Rush Jersey , who still got the point they needed to clinch a playoff spot for the second straight season.
The Penguins answered every Columbus goal in regulation before Phil Kessel scored 1:06 into overtime to get the 5-4 victory in a tight game before an amped-up sellout crowd.
”We were resilient tonight,” Kessel said. ”We’ve been here before.”
Columbus entered the game needing one point in the standings and earned that when it forced the overtime. They’ll go to the playoffs in consecutive years for the first time in franchise history.
”It’s a little bittersweet because it’s Pittsburgh, and you don’t want to lose to them,” Columbus coach John Tortorella said. ”But in the big picture for our team, for our guys, I am really happy for them.”
The Penguins and Blue Jackets are second and third place, respectively, in the Metropolitan Division with playoff positioning not likely to be settled until this weekend.
Columbus is tied with New Jersey – which beat Toronto on Thursday – with 97 points, but the Blue Jackets hold the tiebreaker.
Conor Sheary tied the game at 12:16 in the third period to set up the overtime winner by Kessel Bo Scarbrough Color Rush Jersey , whose shot from the left circle was his second goal of the game and 33rd of the season.
Patric Hornqvist and Kris Letang also scored, and Matt Murray had 26 saves for Pittsburgh, which completed a 4-0 season sweep of Columbus.
”We have such great leadership,” Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan said. ”These guys, they play their best when the stakes are high. They’ve proven it time and time again.”
Zach Werenski, Matt Calvert, Boone Jenner and Cam Atkinson scored for Columbus, and Sergei Bobrovsky had 38 saves.
Werenski put the Blue Jackets up 1-0 five minutes into the game when he gathered a centering pass from Pierre Luc-Dubois and backhanded the puck between Murray and the near post. Kessel went top shelf over Bobrovsky on a power play to tie it at the halfway point of the first period.
A few minutes later, Calvert danced around Penguins defenseman Olli Maata and lifted a shot over Murray’s shoulder . Hornqvist knotted it again at 15:35 when he batted a bouncing puck past Bobrovsky’s glove.
The Blue Jackets scored on a power play in the second period when Jenner connected from the slot off a sweet centering pass from Thomas Vanek.
Early in the third period http://www.falconsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-ito-smith-jersey , Pittsburgh tied the score yet again when Letang clanged one in off the top bar from the right circle. Atkinson made it 4-3 when he poked a shot in from the doorstep 8:25 into the third.
Sheary tied the score again with a shot that Bobrovsky deflected with his glove.
”We showed a lot of character there, finding ways to hold on and get back into it,” Penguins captain Sidney Crosby said.
”They’re a team that really builds on leads, especially at home, so we did a good job of finding ways to get ourselves back in it and even it up pretty quick.”
NOTES: Pierre-Luc Dubois tied Zach Werenski’s rookie single-season point record with 47 and pushed his point streak to a career-high eight games. … Artemi Panarin, with assists on two of the goals, also has a five-game point streak. He has a franchise-record 82 points this season. … Hornqvist has four goals in the past four games. … Columbus defenseman Markus Nutivaara missed his second game with an upper-body injury. … Columbus F Josh Anderson returned after missing 17 games with a knee injury. … Pittsburgh F Derick Brassard missed his fourth game with a lower-body injury.
UP NEXT
Pittsburgh: Hosts Ottawa on Friday night to finish regular season.
Columbus: Ends regular season on Saturday night at Nashville.

Jeff Green is heading back to Washington, the city where he played college basketball at Georgetown, joining the Wizards to provide some front-court help.
A person familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday that Green agreed to a one-year contract for the veteran’s minimum of $2.4 million. The excitement of both sides At the prospect of a Lord’s Test with the sun shining and the stands bursting will be tempered with apprehension. The concerns of India will be greater if only because they are 1-0 down after that could have gone either way. After such games the victors are exponentially boosted, the losers battered.
In Birmingham, India bowled well and their captain, Virat Kohli, batted sublimely but that was not enough to win. They desperately need runs from another source http://www.seahawkshopfootballofficial.com/WOMENS-GEORGE-FANT-JERSEY.html and for the second Test at Lord’s they may tinker with their side accordingly. The adhesive reputation of Cheteshwar Pujara Nate Solder Jersey has been enhanced in his absence and he may well be recalled. India will also consider a second spinner. Ravi Jadeja would seem the obvious choice but somehow his talents abroad seem to be more highly rated by Englishmen than Indians. Kuldeep Yadav, the left-handed wrist-spinner, is the bold alternative to Jadeja. England also tinkered by necessity and by choice. They are obviously diminished but hopefully not distracted by Ben Stokes’s absence. He has not contributed many runs since his return to the side but his bowling at Edgbaston was decisive. Stokes swung the ball at pace. While Jimmy Anderson was England’s most skilful and persistent bowler, Stokes was the most dangerous.Do they opt for Chris Woakes or Moeen Ali? It is a question that highlights the value of Stokes since there are concerns the seam attack will seem light with Sam Curran as the only ally for Stuart Broad and Anderson, yet Woakes (or Curran) at No 7 prompts fears of a lack of depth in the batting. Captain Joe Root’s confirmation that Pope is batting at four only adds to the anticipation. The decision to replace Dawid Malan, which allowed the introduction of Pope, makes sense; Malan’s confidence was visibly fading, which must have prompted the selectors to opt for change rather than sticking with a blinkered determination to demonstrate loyalty to those in the team after a dramatic win. Ed Smith has yet to announce a dull, predictable squad, a record the national selector will not want to sustain for much longer. The first Test provided a timely reminder of how captivating a tight match can be. There is space for so many subplots in a long game, which at Edgbaston encompassed Malan’s agonies, Kohli’s eagerness to prove himself in England, which culminated in his wonderful duel with Anderson, then his desperation to find some support; there were Alastair Cook’s travails against http://www.authenticarizonadiamondbacksshop.com/Paul-Goldschmidt-Jersey Ravi Ashwin, who will be forever loosening up in the first 15 minutes of England’s innings if the Al Woods Jersey veteran opener is still there; Curran dipping his toes in the water and enjoying the feeling; Adil Rashid’s low-key return, which left him in credit and, decreasingly, a controversial presence. Beyond the two dressing rooms there is a craving for more of the same, a contest in which every boundary and every wicket changes the balance of the match. In recent times England have not been involved in many close games but Edgbaston offered us that delicious uncertainty and great chunks of the nation were engaged. There were no dull passages of play. Run‑scoring was tricky but the best batsmen could – and did – prevail. Bowlers who bent their backs while retaining their discipline were rewarded. cheap jerseys china wholesale jerseys from china wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys china
