You have to take the flier on Edwards, but keep in mind the Ravens have not leaned heavily on any one RB this season yet.JOSH ADAMS, Eagles (28.1): We have recommended this other undrafted rookie previously, and 22.1 percent of fantasy players added him last week, but he remains underowned. Adams has yet to reach double digit carries or 65 rushing yards in a game, but he was on his way to officially seizing the lead RB role last week before the Eagles were blown out by the Saints. He provided Philadelphia’s only score on a 28-yard TD run, flashing his upside, and we could see his best production this week in a much friendlier matchup with the Giants.LEGARRETTE BLOUNT Youth Harold Carmichael Jerseys , Lions (9.8): The well-traveled veteran has rushed for only 16 yards in his last four games, as he became a complete afterthought with Kerryon Johnson moving into clear lead back and Fantasy RB1 territory. But Johnson is expected to miss Thursday’s game against Chicago with a knee injury and Blount should be the top ball carrier for the Lions. It’s not a good matchup against Chicago’s elite run defense and Theo Riddick is a better add in PPR leagues if available, but Blount will start for Detroit and may have to be the alternative option if you need a one-week play and cannot acquire Edwards or Adams.WIDE RECEIVERSKEKE COUTEE, Texans (14.3): Most rookie receivers are unreliable, but Coutee seems to have a safer floor than others when he has been healthy. He also seems to be a preferred target over recently acquired veteran Demaryius Thomas, who seems to be fading into the twilight of his career. Coutee already has three double figure PPR performances in four relatively healthy appearances this year.D.J. MOORE, Panthers (32.0): He previously showed some glimpses of his considerable promise before breaking out with seven catches for 157 yards and a TD in Week 11 against Detroit. Like many first year wideouts, Moore is a risky play and can follow up a big game with a quiet one. But he has the most pure talent and potential of any Carolina WR and the opportunity to take the lead role in the Panthers pass-catching corps if he can continue to trend upward.TRE’QUAN SMITH (13.4): Because he plays in such an explosive offense, Smith could be the top add of the week, especially after registering 10 catches for 157 yards and a TD in the destruction of the Eagles. Smith seems set to be the Saints’ top pure deep playmaker for some time to come. Benkert has flashed so far in the first two games and I was told the Jaguars were doing their homework on Benkert when I was in Mobile for the Senior Bowl. Tony Boselli shared on Monday’s Jaguars Happy Hour that this spells trouble for Grant and that his roster spot could be in jeopardy, but I find that comical. For me, the team is trying to discern if Wilds can hack at as the fourth horse in the stable or if they will need to glean the waiver wire to fill that role, so don’t be surprised if Wilds takes every snap next week against the Bucs.Key matchupsJalen Ramsey vs. Matt RyanFresh off a week-long suspension, Ramsey will need to back up the shade he threw at Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan in his recent GQ interview. Ryan isn’t the type of petty personality who would take such comments to heart and try to test Ramsey as an act of vengeance, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’ll be doing his best to a move an offense that has been pretty pedestrian over the first two weeks of preseason (14 points in two games). AJ Bouye/DJ Hayden vs. Calvin RidleyThis could be a “welcome to the NFL” week for Ridley, who performed well against the Chiefs last week on his way to three catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. Kudos to Calvin for burning Steven Nelson and Tremon Smith, but those guys aren’t exactly the Jaguars cornerbacks. We’ll see if offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian tries to move Ridley into the slot to test DJ Hayden, because I certainly wouldn’t want that smoke on the outside. What was once a 17-0 lead for Tampa Bay became a 24-20 deficit heading into the final quarter of the season.A Tampa Bay three and out followed, which set up another Atlanta scoring drive. Ryan found Calvin Ridley wide open for a seven-yard touchdown to put the Falcons up 31-10. It was the end of another 75-yard drive, this one on seven plays in 3:59.Despite the Falcons’ 31-3 run, the Bucs refused to go quietly. Winston kept them in the game with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Evans— their second scoring connection of the day— to bring the deficit back to one score. The two-point conversion failed, but the Bucs trailed by just five with 8:09 to go.Atlanta got the ball back needing to kill some clock and potentially score to ice the game. Instead, Matt Ryan completely flipped the game around. Under pressure from Jason Pierre-Paul, Ryan threw an interception right to Andrew Adams. After a 15-yard pass to Humphries, Winston found Godwin for a 19-yard score— their second touchdown connection of the game— to put the Bucs back on top. The two-point conversion was no good once again, but the home team had a 32-31 lead with 5:10 to go.Of course, the game still wasn’t over. The Falcons took over and moved the ball with ease, killing valuable time the whole way. They got into field goal range with just under three minutes to go, but an unnecessary roughness call on Julio Jones backed them up to the 45 with 2:04 left. In the end, it wouldn’t matter. The Buccaneer defense had the Falcons facing 3rd & 11 with 1:53 left. A stop and a timeout would have given them time to work with after a potential go-ahead field goal, but instead, the unit allowed Ryan to find Jones for the conversion. After a few kneel-downs by Ryan, Matt Bryant lined up and hit a game-winning 37-yard field goal as time expired. With that, the Bucs finished 5-11 for the second straight season and will pick in the top five of the 2019 NFL Draft.Quick Stats Jameis Winston finished the first half with 210 yards and two touchdowns on 15-of-23 passing. He added 23 yards on two carries in the first 30 minutes. The final 30 minutes were just as good for the 24-year-old, as he finished 22-of-35 for 345 yards and four touchdowns. He was intercepted once on a tipped pass.Mike Evans caught six passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns on the day. In addition to breaking the team’s record for receiving yards in a single season, he also became the youngest player in NFL history to hit 6,000 receiving yards.Chris Godwin had a career day, catching six passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Evans and Godwin combined for a Tampa Bay first— the first time the team has had two receivers go for 100-plus yards and two touchdowns in the same game.Brent Grimes had three passes defended in the first half alone. The Falcons were 0-for-5 on third down in the first half, but finished the day 6-for-13.Tampa Bay outgained Atlanta 270-172 in the first 30 minutes, but was eventually outgained 489-433. While his development as a receiver has attracted the most attention in his direction this season, he’s come along as a blocker as well. Herndon made a couple of mistakes early in this game, but I loved how he bounced back. He was beaten by Trey Flowers twice Jamison Crowder Jerseys 2019 , once on a run play that resulted in an Elijah McGuire fumble and another time on the edge as Flowers dipped outside for the quick pressure.Herndon shook off those two blunders to have one of the best blocking performances I’ve seen from a Jets skill position player this season. He pass protected on a total of 8 snaps, allowing no other pressures following the Flowers loss. He racked up a total of four rushing assists - the Jets only had five “positive” runs in this game, and Herndon was an instrumental part of creating four of them.Here, nice job by Herndon (#89) holding the edge against Deatrich Wise (#91) to help create a gigantic cutback lane for McGuire.Below is another one of Herndon’s impressive blocks from the game. He quickly gets out on the edge and eliminates J.C. Jackson (#27) from the play to open up a clear path of green grass for McGuire. Great finish, as he drives Jackson from inside the numbers almost all the way to the sideline. Herndon is getting much better at closing in on and finishing his targets in the run game.Herndon’s surge coincided directly the Week 11 bye week. I credited him with a marvelous 15:3 assist-to-stuff ratio in the six games following the bye, compared to the 10:14 ratio he earned over the first ten games of the year.Here are my final blocking numbers for the 2018 Jets!It was a decent, but not spectacular pass blocking year. The Jets posted a respectable, above-average pressure rate, mostly thanks to the bookend performances of Kelvin Beachum and Brandon Shell. The interior group struggled mightily though, combining for a whopping 21 sacks allowed. That’s an abysmal number. The league’s best interior units give up sack totals in the low single digits over the course of the year. The pass protection between the guards was a major detriment to the offense this year.Run blocking was a mess across the entire offense throughout the year. The Jets were an atrocious running team across the board - 29th in total rushing yards per attempt, 30th in rushing DVOA, 32nd in estimated points added in the run game, 32nd in adjusted line yards per carry* and 32nd in percentage of running back carries resulting in no gain or less.*- Adjusted Line Yards is a Football Outsiders stat that adjusts running back yardage to devalue bigger plays in an attempt to more accurately gauge the contribution of the offensive line in producing rush yardage.Without a doubt, the Jets need to address this unit intensely in the offseason, specifically on the interior.Thanks a lot to everyone who kept up with both the offensive line series and the coverage series throughout the 2018 season! We have clear directive that this is not something that should be progressive, but that we strongly consider removing a player that is using these techniques that we want out of our game immediately.”Yet the prohibited keeps happening and, it seems, to a higher degree.“You’re always talking about keeping the poise and understanding the big picture is winning the game,” Saints coach Sean Payton says. “Part of that is mental toughness. You don’t have to respond and be macho. So many times I hear, `I’m not going to be punked,’ and I get that. Anyone who is coming in there, here comes the receiver, at no time in my life did I ever think of the rule book and let him in there with the ball.'”Miller: “I go back to that (2015 Steelers-Bengals) playoff game, that’s what lit the fuse, that’s what got the party started. And it was payback (Monday night). The Bengals felt they were wronged by the officials. (They think) if they are not going to police it, boys, we are going to police it. They got one of ours, we’re going to get one of theirs.“At what point will the officials eject?Kirwan: “As soon as the head of officials tells them if you don’t eject, we are going to suspend (an official). You’ve got to get this under control. Since then, Edelman developed into Tom Brady’s go-to wide receiver, one of the toughest matchups in the NFL, and a three-time Super Bowl winner — including last season’s title game, when he also won the game’s MVP trophy.And now it sure looks like the veteran receiver will not be going anywhere anytime soon: as first reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Patriots and Edelman are finalizing a “multi-year contract extension [...] that should keep him in New England for the rest of his career.” Fellow NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport added that the deal will run for two years, which would tie the soon-to-be 33-year-old to the Patriots through the 2021 season.This is certainly good news for both parties involved: while the Patriots keep their most experienced wide receiver for the foreseeable future — especially considering the current state of the team’s pass catching corps — Edelman will not have to worry about anything entering what would have been the final year of his contract.
