In my opinion it is also easier to find ore in space. Asteroids are pretty much gauranteed to have osrs gold at least 1 type of ore and most host 2 types. Travel in space is nearly free energy wise. There is not resistence in space so getting to 100m/s and turning off dampeners just lets you coast at 100m/s while consuming 0 energy to keep moving.
