Jon Gray was quite promising in his outing, with the exception of a two-run inning in the fourth. There was a bit of bad news, as he gave up yet another home run, making that 13 consecutive games he’s done so. One big issue for the Rockies was the absence of Daniel Murphy due to his fractured finger. There are many options to replace him, but Bud Black has to work to find the right combination and lineup for success. We might very well see Pat Valaika in his stead, the versatile player having had a solid spring outing. Mark Reynolds will get some time there, as will Ryan McMahon. This is eerily similar to the 2017 season, when Desmond was injured in spring training and Reynolds stepped up to fill the void.
