While I’ve admittedly not been following MapleStory 2 very closely, I’ve heard that Nexon America have tweaked the English version from the MapleStory 2 Gold game, cutting back around the pay-to-win parts in the original.

While they certainly intend for players to waste money, it mostly proceeds convenience items (like quicker fast-travel) and cosmetic items for the bobble-headed avatar.
