ABUJA, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria is fully determined to shake the earth when the stage is set for the quadrennial FIFA World Cup in Brazil in June, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Aminu Maigari said on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria, which clinched the award of Africa's National Team of the Year at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards on Jan. 9, will dazzle spectators and prove that the West African country can conquer the world in the game of soccer, the sports administrator told reporters here.
"I won't specifically predict how far Nigeria will go at the world cup but what I am certain about is that the Super Eagles will do wonders. Nigeria will shake the world and I am being optimistic that the team will do what I can describe as a turn around to the favor of this (African) continent," Maigari said.
According to him, the team has improved tremendously and can hold their own against some of the best football nations.
The Nigerian team conquered Africa exactly a year ago, at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in South Africa.
"We have developed rapidly over the last two years," he added.
He said the Super Eagles would be engaged in top friendly matches that would strengthen the team ahead of the world cup outing in Brazil.
