The Chicago Bears have signed first-round draft pick Roquan Smith after a holdout by the linebacker over his contract.

A person familiar with the situation said Smith has agreed to a four-year contract that guarantees $18.5 million and includes an $11.5 million signing bonus. The person spoke Monday night on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced. The Bears have not disclosed terms.

Smith was the No. 8 overall selection in April's draft after starring at Georgia.

Smith is the final pick from this year's NFL draft class to reach an agreement. He and the Bears disagreed over whether the team would be allowed to take back guaranteed bonus money if he was suspended for disciplinary reasons William Perry Jersey , including a violation of the league's new rule preventing players from leading with their helmet.

Smith participated in offseason activities, but has been absent since Chicago reported to camp on July 19 and has missed two preseason games. The Bears visit Denver on Saturday.

The NFL has determined the Buffalo Bills acted properly in the aftermath of team president Russ Brandon's resignation amid allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with a female employee.

The league released a statement Friday saying it will take no further action against the Bills. The league determined the team "addressed the matter in a timely Art Monk Jersey , thorough and appropriate manner."

The statement comes a week after the NFL wouldn't rule out launching an investigation in announcing it planned to contact the Bills to discuss the reasons behind Brandon's abrupt departure.

Brandon resigned May 1 after spending 20 years working up the Bills' executive ranks. He also spent the past three years serving as president of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, who also are owned by Terry and Kim Pegula.

Two people with direct knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press that Brandon's resignation came after he was confronted about the relationship by the Pegulas. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because it is an internal matter Ryan Miller Jersey , and the Pegulas did not provide a reason when announcing they accepted Brandon's resignation.

Brandon told the AP he had contemplated stepping down from the job for some time, and felt the timing was right following the conclusion of the NFL draft. He did not respond to follow-up questions regarding the alleged relationship.

The NHL last week consulted with the Sabres and determined Brandon's resignation was a club matter.
