Free agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland‘s search for a new home has taken him to New England.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Breeland is working out for the Patriots on Tuesday. Breeland recently spent time with the Ravens Kelechi Osemele Jersey , Colts, Browns, Raiders and Chiefs and also met with the Cardinals in May.
Breeland did not expect to be on the open market at this point in the calendar, but the deal he struck with the Panthers early in free agency fell through due to a cut on Breeland’s foot that required him to undergo a skin graft. He needed time to get healthy and restart his ongoing search for employment.
The Patriots have Stephon Gilmore Alvin Kamara Jersey , Eric Rowe, Jason McCourty, second-round pick Duke Dawson, seventh-round pick Keion Crossen and Jonathan Jones in the mix for playing time at cornerback.
New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says the Saints plan to have an empty chair in the draft room at team headquarters in honor of their late owner.
Tom Benson Barkevious Mingo Jersey , a New Orleans native who bought the Saints in 1985, died on March 15 at age 90.
His wife, Gayle, now controls both the Saints and the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans Duke Dawson Jersey , which Benson bought in 2012.
Loomis says Benson would have been excited about his sports businesses. Benson's horse, Lone Sailor, is slated to run in the Kentucky Derby and the Pelicans are in the second round of the playoffs after sweeping Portland in the first round.
Loomis says the Saints miss Benson and will be thinking about him on draft night.
