'Fortnite' Might Be Getting Hat Customization, And I Have Questions |
There may very well be some more customization options going to Fortnite. As a free-to-play game, Fortnite could possibly be the most popular kind of entertainment on Earth and it also wouldn't generate a dime if Epic couldn't push individuals pick up new cosmetics, which means this isn't a fully surprising development. Regardless, a newly released datamine found traces of evidence for Fortnite Items future customizations on stuff like the Battle Bus, map markers, ATKS and hats. The Fortnite whales considering spending some bucks, it would seem, might soon use a lot more choices for doing so.
Now, none of the is confirmed yet, and my guess is the large list of customizable on display here implies that we're a considerable ways from implementation. But a lot on this makes sense: map markers, by way of example, has to be straightforward and fairly easy edition together with the added bonus of playing to the social pressures that will from microtransactions. But the hat/helmet/head customization could very well be the most likely of those, and maybe the least straightforward.
Hats are an age-old customization option probably best exemplified by Team Fortress 2, that's had them for several years. And we're speculating about them in Fortnite since Epic disambiguated the trunk bling: hats looked like a logical choice next.
With Fortnite, however, there are numerous big questions. To start with: shall we be talking hats, helmets, or heads? All consist of their own troubles. Hats seem to be included over a number of skins, and may Buy Fortnite Skins theoretically be simple enough to plop onto whatever skin you select. But a lot of skins already include some kind of head adornment, along with a hat might look strange on the top or even be technically unworkable: I'm not sure I want to put a ranger hat ahead of Raven. Helmets could be hard too, however: would each over the facial popular features of a different skin?
The third option may be the easiest from a technical perspective: simply take the whole set off of one skin and plop it on another. It would even permit some gender-bent skins, something which I'm sure would get a lot of internet hate for no real reason.
As a sample we'll think about the Tomatohead, one the game's more distinctive heads thus far. It could be considered a hat, I suppose, and slapped over a different skin with practically no issue. But it is also round and head-shaped, and therefore it could easily accept a hat of that own, despite perhaps also to be a hat by itself.
I'll be curious to find out if this pertains to fruition, and when it does I'll be curious to determine what it seems like. Fortnite does well trafficking in ridiculousness from a visual perspective, but there could come a spot where even that idea kind of falls apart.
