Fortnite $21M to develop out mobile shooter
French mobile startup Fortnite has raised $21 million to compliment the development of Frag, an internet based first-person shooter aiming to capitalize on the excitement of Fortnite.
The Series B funding round was led by Atomico, that has previously sunk cash into mobile heavyweights Rovio and Supercell, with assistance from Fortnite Items fellow investor Korelya Capital.
Oh BiBi already features a number of Fortnite mobile titles under its belt, including LoL Kart, Motor World Car Factory, and SUP Multiplayer Racing -- aforementioned of that has amassed over 30 million downloads.
The studio hopes its latest release, Frag, is able to use the momentum of shooters like Fortnite to adopt Fortnite the genre one step further on mobile.
"When we started taking care of Frag 6 months ago, we knew there seemed to be no reason why a shooter game could hardly dominate Fortnite the very best grossing rankings for mobile Fortnite games," explained Oh BiBi COO and Buy Fortnite Items co-founder, Martial Valery.
"Now Fortnite has demonstrated it had been possible, we're prepared to challenge their claim for the very best mobile shooter along with Fortnite Atomico onboard, as the most active VCs purchasing the games sector today, we're well equipped to scale looking forward to the task."
