6 players for being named later who became all-stars |
Baseball’s non-waiver trade deadline is Tuesday afternoon, and there may be some transactions that aren’t quite completed about the day with the deal.
There will likely be some moves that are included with a player to become named later. For instance, within the trade that sent Cole Hamels towards the Cubs on Friday, the Rangers received two minor leaguers plus a player for being named later.
Sometimes teams employ a list of players to choose from as well as a deadline to produce their pick, but sometimes the gamer is named later for other reasons.
These players being named later sometimes carry on to do excellent achievements.
I can be remiss in this particular celebration of players to become named later if I didn’t mention Harry Chiti, a catcher who played regions of 10 Cheap MLB 18 Stubs major league seasons.
Chiti in 1962 was the player to become named later in their own deal, even though he wasn’t an all-star this transaction made him a legend. From his SABR bio:
Traded from the Orioles to Cleveland following the 1961 season, Chiti was sold on the expansion New York Mets on April 26, 1962. Harry Dominic Chiti, Jr., played in the last baseball game for the afternoon of Sunday, June 10, at Wrigley Field. Five days later the Mets attempt to return him on the Indians and were advised through the organization to send out him instantly to MLB The Show 18 Stubs Jacksonville, a Cleveland affiliate. It was Chiti himself who later claimed which the Mets had owed Cleveland a “player being named later,” and he previously had been returned to Cleveland as that player, thus becoming a farmer who ended up traded for himself.
